I’ve been on holiday this past two weeks in Waterford, cork, Mayo and let me just say Westport house today has been the highlight for me and my family. It was just such good value for money. Yes the weather was lovely but the staff at Westport house were for me the best part. We took a tour of the house and we’re treated to a very knowledgeable and excellent guide (lady) her name escapes me . The young people at the entertainment area were just outstanding and are just not paid enough . We were there at that area for 4.5 hours and each of the young ladies and gents were always smiling and so helpful and kind to the kids . A big shout out to Art, Adam, Osien, and all the staff there I didn’t get all the names . I would definitely recommend everyone who’s in Westport visit this beautiful place and meet those hard working young people who were so helpful and happy all day 👏👏👏👏👏. They couldn’t do enough to make each kid happy . Big ones to 😉.

Great tour of Westport House given by the wonderful Mary. As well as being very knowledgeable she delivered the info in such a natural and authentic way. Sometimes tours can sound so rehersed you loose interest but Mary held our interest for the entire time and told the stories of the house in a memorable way, thank you Mary, I'll be back again

We had a fantastic day here! Spent nearly six hours here between the pedal boats, tiny town, foot golf, soft play area and all the rides in the pirate adventure spot.

Gravy’s pizzeria and bistro was v tasty. You get 10% off your bill with the day pass and we took the kids to the soft play area while waiting for our order.

Westport house entry was an extra €5 per person but we decided not to chance it with small kids.

The pirates adventures area was fantastic and kids could go on the rides as many times as they wanted.

Myself and my wife and two kids went to Westport house for a day admission which cost €90 and to say it was very bad value for money would be an understatement. There is very little activities for the kids and there was a long wait as there was ques for most activities. Just on a side note Graceys opened at 2.00 pm which I think is a bit late as the house is open from 11.00 am

Wonderful!!! Had a truly fantastic tour of such a beautiful house. Our guide, Moirin, completely made this trip. She was full of information, stories & insight and kept the entire group captivated (with light & laughs in all the right places!)!! I couldn’t recommend this highly enough & hope you’re lucky enough to get Moirin!

When walking around the stunning gardens of this beautiful period Great House I noticed a sign saying there was a tour of the inside of the property at midday. I decided to wait until the tour was to start and was not disappointed. Darren the tour guide greeted a small tour group of 5 of us at the entrance and escorted us around the inside of the stunning rooms of this historic property. His introduction to the history of the Grace O'Maillie and Browne family who built the house was fascinating including the portraits of the family some by the great artist Joshua Reynolds. The house is filled with historical features including family china & silverware books and personal letters written during the start of the Great Famine in 1845. Darren and John are excellent guides and I can highly recommend a visit to Westport House . I look forward to visiting again as the renovation work continues.

My husband and I recently did the guided tour of Westport house with our guide John and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I am from Mayo and have visited Westport house as a child many times but I was given new appreciation and insight into it's history and beauty. John was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of interesting insight. The tour was excellent value and we would highly recommend doing the guided tour.

John was a brilliant tour guide. His detail on the family’s history was great. The house is quite big and will take you at least an hour to get around. Probably allow 75 mins as the tour goes for 45 mins and then you can wonder around the rest of the house.

I did find admission expensive, and I also found the school groups in

A fascinating house with an intricate history crossing several centuries and one of the very few 'big houses' surviving in the west of Ireland; there is much original furniture and many other artefacts inside. The fact that it is in the process of being restored only increases the interest. John, our guide, was excellent and very well informed; there was also plenty of time after the guided tour to wander around independently. The grounds are also beautiful and, as the much of the estate is involved in the restoration project it will be worth returning to every few years to see how things have moved on.

Dear Paul - Thank you so much for your glowing review. We are so glad you enjoyed the tour - John does an excellent job and you are so kind to make special mention. It is indeed rate to find a house with its original collection and good of you to notice. We hope you'll come back in the future to see the developments and we look forward to hearing your thoughts. With our very best wishes - Biddy Hughes

John was our guide and he effortlessly guided us through the history of the house and its personalities, with humour and interest, and how it all sits within the history of Westport and Ireland during each epoch. The house itself is almost fully accessible and incredibly well preserved and wonderful to look at. Highly recommended.
