She introduced us to another side of well known historical events and told stories about the locals.10/10 recommended if someone's curious about what's really behind the 'ghost' stories, what events are they based on. The only thing missing was a spooky rainy night, since we got a bright and lovely summer sunset, but all those horrible historical events happened at broad daylight anyways, aren't they? 😏Written 20 June 2022

What a fantastic tour of Kilkenny! The tour guide, Sharon, was so full of life and passion and was an excellent story teller and clearly knew Kilkenny and Irish history incredibly well. It was just my partner and I for our tour time and she still went forward with it, which made it even more special. We highly recommend this tour - perfect mix of history and spookiness.

Wonderful tour. Sharon provided a much different perspective on the history of this portion of Ireland (and the country overall) as compared to traditional books and video depictions. She really ignited our interest to learn more - and we’re fascinated by the emerging information coming from newly excavated centuries of excavation of religious and cultural sites. Recommendation for all - make sure you tour both the Medieval Mile Museum and Kiilkenny Castle separate from the tour to ensure you get the full perspective as the tour does not enter these facilities.

A wonderful way to learn a bit about Kilkenny and Irish history in general, including the dark bits. Sharon, who also works at the local museum, was our guide. She was delightfully engaging, informative and enthusiastic as we walked through the streets and alleys of Kilkenny. So fun to know a bit of history about the place as we spent the next few days there. Highly recommended and such a deal!

What a fun evening we had with Sharon! I know Kilkenny quite well, but I learned SO much from this tour. Don't miss it if you're in Kilkenny! There are interesting buildings and dark nooks that you would just pass by...but Sharon makes them come to life with stories of real people and circumstances from days gone by.

Deepest, darkest secrets, ghost sightings, stories that shaped Kilkenny, she gave it all! It was evident that she loves Kilkenny with all of its history. We walked from the castle to Smithwicks. Along the way, so much context was provided for the city and how it was shaped and grew through history. I cannot recommend this tour more! Take it early-on in your time in Kilkenny.

Sharon was brilliant with the history, stories, and ability to provide feedback on our extensive questions. She showed up even though it was raining and we ended up being the only couple to show for the tour. It is amazing the difference between self guided tours and a tour from a tour guide who is knowledgeable, personable, and very passion about history/culture. Thank You Sharon - Paul/Colleen

Just went on this tour this week and theres nothing like a good old local tour guide to tell the the dark secrets of a very old city. The tour was the best . I always take dark tours when I am travelling. Plus your supporting the locals. The terrible history the people went through over the centuries ein Kilkenny brings all the history of the medieval period to light. Also got some really good eatery and pub recommendations. If you like querky dark stories youll love this. Authenthic and original. Thank you

We had a great time with our wonderful guide Sharon. We were not looking for a crazy, spooky tour but very much interested in the (dark) history of Kilkenny. Sharon made our wish come true. She had such a vast knowledge of the whole history of Kilkenny and Ireland as a whole. We would very much recommend this tour for people interested in history combined with a bit of humour and cynism 😀

My partner and I recently went on a tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the historical dark tales and spooky feel to this tour and really got to see the city of Kilkenny. I would definitely recommend this tour to others who love history and are visiting Kilkenny.

he arrived on time and it started fine, he was easy to understand and has a great knowledge of killkenny. he only gave a lot of facts. but not any exciting things or funny information. he lacked the spark and was bad at getting people interested

I'm a lone traveler and looking at going on this tour during my visit to Kilkenny. As the booking systems appears to only accept bookings of two or more people at a time, is it possible to join a tour as a walk-in?
