Well Worth a visit. We had the added bonus of John, I think that was his name, who gave us a quick explanation of what is what in the museum. Fully of knowledge and a passionate man. Museum is the same as all but a guided tour, if all are like John, would be the way to do it.

Was in Kilkenny for the day and decided I would go here. I learned a lot about history and the artifacts and tombs and everything else. It was definitely worth it and I would go again.

The museum didn't seem to have many exhibits; this bothered my husband who loves museums but made me happy since I quickly become bored in museums. The audio guide was informative and well done but it was often difficult to figure out where the next number was.

This is not another church vist, it’s a very interesting explanation of medieval times through stone sculptures and carving. The audio tour is easy to use

Was great-did the audio tour but the written material was plenty of info. The Lego hunt for additional info was fun for all of us-no one younger than 20- a creative way to engage the kid in all of us. Docent was very helpful and informative. Recommend!

I intended to just visit the muesum but John told me about a walking tour later that morning so I signed up. The museum is well laid out and you follow the numbers with your audio guide. It works very well. For the walking tour John gave us an overview of historical Kilkenny and took us around town. He makes history come alive with his entertaining and funny style.

A really enjoyable tour. Our guide John explained so much fascinating history, and showed us things that even some locals may not be aware of. Highly recommended! 👍

The tour guide was amazing, and filled us in in the history of Kilkenny in a very interesting and exiting way. The tour lasted about an hour, and gave us enough info to then visit the Kilkenny castle and the cathedrals, with a more complete knowledge of the history, and enabled us to enjoy it more. Therefore, I recommend you visit it, and at an early point in your visit too, before any other activities!

We had only intended to do a quick look round the museum. However, at the cash desk Joe made the walking tour sound interesting so we booked for that. So glad we did because he made the tour (about 1 hour long) very interesting. He told us a lot of interesting facts about the city. We were able to return to the museum to do the tour there in our own time. It's not the biggest museum but it has some interesting features.

I’ve lived in Kilkenny for nearly thirty years and had heard how good the tour was. John our tour guide was so knowledgeable not just about Kilkenny but about other countries as well as he had a story for each person in the group no matter where they were from. I learnt so much about the city that I passed every day.

Delightful guided tour that helped us learn about Kilkenny and medieval history. My teenager later said she’d been a bit reluctant to take the tour but absolutely loved it and was glad we did. The guide was brilliant- engaging, friendly, knowledgeable. Note: they do take tips but it’s not really obvious (as an American, I asked because I’m used to tipping but also didn’t want to offend.) Tip your guide - they’re wonderful!

Kilkenny is a stunning Medieval town and full of attractions, almost all of which can be seen by walking down the centre road of the town. Well worth the time therefore to meander down the road, preferably armed with a map detailing the sights to behold, and simply enjoy learning of its fascinating history.

We sincerely enjoyed our tour led by John. He combined history, storytelling, and humor in the best way. It was an excellent tour and a great way to see and learn about the amazing town of Kilkenny. I recommend this tour to all visiting the city!

We absolutely loved our walking tour!! I am sorry I could not remember the name of the women who provided us the spellbinding tour! She provided such vivid stories and history about the lovely town of Kilkenny! Our AWESOME guide provided us with the perfect combination of energy and suspense and had us hanging on every word!! We HIGHLY recommend her and this tour!!!
