We live in Killarney at the Hotel Inishfalen and have always dreamed of getting to the island of the same name. Thanks to our new friends we had a wonderful adventure - a boat trip to the island of Inishfalen. It was very beautiful: rocks, a lake, a pristine little island with the ruins of a monastery and a chapel. An incredible place for meditation, observation and relaxation. We are amazed at how the Irish care for their nature and the preservation of monuments. And we are impressed by the hospitality of local people and organizers Tadgh O'Connor and Derry Horgan from Gap of Dunloe Tours of the trip, Dave Ryan, @Katie Graham who received us so warmly. Thank you for a wonderful trip, bright emotions (which we need so much at this time) and wonderful photos and unforgettable memories! Thank you for your service!
In the chapel on the island we found many coins that people leave with the intention to make their wishes come true. In Ukraine, people leave coins to return to that place. If you are on the outskirts of Inishfalen and see Ukrainian coins, know that we really liked this place and we dream of returning there someday. And if you want to visit there, the trips leave for the island every day from 10am. They leave from Reen Pier (where we were yesterday) every hour from 10am. Its just near Ross Castle ))))

This was one of our highlights on our recent Ireland trip. We were dropped off on the island and left for about an hour to explore at our leisure. The Abby was great to walk around with deer that would walk right up to us. We explored the entire island in the hour we were there before the boat returned to pick us up. It was amazing being the only two people on the island, just left to explore.
The boat captain asked if we got to see everything we wanted when he came to pick us up. He asked if we had a chance to see the carvings in the old library and then offered to go show us. We then got another 15 min tour of the ruins with a knowledgeable local.
The entire ride back to Ross castle, he gave us more recommendations for things to see in the National park. Needless to say, his recommendations filled our next two days and made this an unforgettable trip!

This was one of the highlights of our trip in Ireland. The island is so peaceful, beautiful and green. The kid kept saying a baby dinosaur would appear any time. The skipper said it was a magical place and indeed it was.
We had booked in advance and arrived 10 minutes earlier. A boat was about to leave with a French family and the skipper - a rather old man - told us to get on board without even asking for or checking our booking. I wasn't even sure if that was the right company. The family paid when we returned and I think it was less that I had paid in the booking. That was a bit weird...

Our guide, Dairmaid Griffin, made this trip very special. He was knowledgeable, experienced, thoughtful and kind. Our family thoroughly enjoyed this visit to a magical, peaceful and beautiful place. The ruins were very interesting and Dairmaid took time to describe their significance. We walked around the island in awe at the deer and exquisite landscape. Thank you, Dairmaid!

Innisfallen is a magical place, and Dairmid was a wonderful guide, friendly and informative about the island and the area around Killarney. The tour provides enough time to explore the monastic ruins and walk the entire path around the north end. It was the perfect way to spend our day. Thank you!

Fabulous short trip from Killarney. Start or end with a tour of Ross Castle, take a gorgeous boat trip across the lake and so much to explore once you get to the island. The ruins were bigger than I expected and even saw deer. Gorgeous, peaceful place with a fabulous guide.

If you love exploring and learning about ancient ruins, this will be something you enjoy. This is a self-paced activity, there is no official tour guide. The boat driver will share some information, but that's it.
There is also a forest area beyond the ruins that is pretty. Word of warning, be mindful of where you walk so you can go back out the same way! I got lost and eventually had to pull out Google Maps to see where I was in relation to the ruins, lol.

Nature, history and beauty. Followed the herd of deer around the island. Enjoyed the shared knowledge of our guide. We were a group of 5 and had the boat and island to ourselves. I could have spent an entire day there in the quiet. A good way to get away from the small crowds (there weren't much to be honest) and enjoy an overlooked gem in Killarney. Much more enjoyable than the larger tour boats. Great memories to last.

A wonderful trip to an island brimming with history and nature. We loved wandering through the evocative ruins and we even spotted adorable fawns in the underground. The boat guide was full of knowledge, stories and good humour. Highly recommended.
