- Travel378248124100 contributionsPerfect ExperienceWe had a perfect day for the cruise. I would reccomend sitting at the outside section for the best experience. The tour guide really made the experience, he provided information on the lake and surrounding areas and this really made the experience. Its also the perfect amount of time for the experience. Would love to do this again if in the areaWritten 30 October 2024
- Sarah P0 contributionsNot to be missed!Beautiful scenic trip on the lake highlighting the picturesque scenery on the lovely Lough Leanne. Our guide was informative and offered lots interesting points along the way. Beautiful views back to Ross Castle and the mountains. We were very lucky with the beautiful Autumn day but this was a highlight of our family trip to Kerry.Written 29 October 2024
- kali0c0 contributionsFun lake tour, even in the rain! This was a fun lake tour and our boat captain seemed very knowledgeable. Plenty of opportunities for some fantastic pictures, even in the rain from the windows in the cabin.Written 25 October 2024
- AVSTravSolo0 contributionsDefinitely worth doing while.you're in KillarneyThis was a pilgrimage for me--a return to a lake I rowed on 50 years ago. Blue sky or not, a lovely and peaceful way to spend an hour. The Captain had great stories and a member of the crew even came to find me when the sailing schedule changed. Docks right at Ross Castle so easy to tour the castle before or afterward.Written 30 September 2024
- marisamonta0 contributionsNice, Relaxing Way to See the LakeWe really enjoyed this boat ride. We got to see parks of the park/lake you normally couldn’t see. Our guide provided a lot of information about the wildlife that can be found and the history of the region. It was a great way to see the park!Written 29 September 2024
- Jarrod3210 contributionsBeautiful views. Well worth itBeautiful views. Nice to learn a bit more about the lakes and the surrounding area. This doubles up nicely with a visit to Ross castle tooWritten 28 September 2024
- Quest345608787520 contributionsGreat break from driving the countryside is taking this tour and soaking up the sights around the lake.Great views and great guide giving us information along the cruise. - 796darbyt0 contributionsA must-do in Killarney National ParkThe boat tour makes the visit to Ross Castle extra special, providing spectacular views and a peaceful ride on Lough Leane. The drivers give great history of the lake and make the trip entertaining!Written 23 September 2024
- michaelhX676IH0 contributionsOur Limited Time In KillarneyThe Jaunty Car tour led by Kevin through the Killarney National Forest was wonderful. Kevin was provided interesting facts about the forest and surrounding area. The only downside of the trip was the instructions on where to meet the Jaunty Car. We were told arrive at 11:15am for a 11:30am start and to wait at the corner of Scott street (in front of the Scott Hotel). The hotel receptionist also confirmed the pickup location. After a 45 minute wait, the driver arrived and directed us 3 blocks down the street to the Jaunty Car horses were waiting. We enjoyed the tour after a rocky start.Written 19 September 2024
- ttmag010 contributionsNice tourLake and views are beautiful. Narration was hard to hear due to a noisy crowd on board. Would do it again with hopefully less background noise.Written 17 September 2024
- Janet C0 contributionsNice quick tour from KillarneyJaunting car tour was good! Billy was funny and we enjoyed his stories. We wished the tour was longer or went to other parts of the national forest, but that was our mistake. We didn’t research where the tour was going. It was still enjoyable, we had blankets and were warm!Written 14 September 2024
- lorrainemJ8409ZX0 contributionsAmazingTrip was well organised, and guide fantastic craic. Good value for money and highly recommend to others. Even on a damp day.Written 5 September 2024
- angelagA5895HO0 contributionsFantasticIt was a lovely trip particularly with the clouds on the mountains and the lake dark and brooding. The commentary was terrific and the boat was smooth despite it being a bit choppy.Written 2 September 2024

We are a family of 5 from Beaufort, Killarney and I am ashamed to say we only got around to doing this wonderful trip now. Last week we decided to act like tourists visiting Killarney and our first stop was Ross Castle and a trip on the "Pride of the Lakes". We thoroughly enjoyed it despite the rainy weather. Kevin was captain and guide rolled into one and he was very informative and entertaining. The boat itself is unexpectedly very comfortable and quite big. You are completely covered in and feels very safe if you are thinking of small children. I would definitely recommend this trip to both locals and tourists alike :))

We took a one hour boat trip on Lough Leane and were slightly dissapointed with what saw. We felt that we could have been on any lake as there we no spectacular views. We saw a lot of islands but nothing of great interest. We saw a nice moutain range but you could have seen this from Killarney.
There were no toilets or refreshments on the boat, but there were facilities at Ross Castle.
On a positive note we left from Ross Castle which was quite stunning up close and from the boat (we did manage to get some nice photos of this from on the lake). We were extremely fortunate to see a rare white tailed eagle which they are trying to re introduce into this area. The guide was knowledgeable but not always very clear and didn't have the fluency and patter you may expect.
Probably would not do this trip again but wish we would have spent the time going around Ross Castle instead.

Good cruise with useful commentary and knowledge of the area. Very rainy day so very few passengers on the cruise but this gave more time for talk and questions. And a chance to see this lake area as it often is. One walks through part of the Castle to access cruise dock. So interesting at every step. Nice tea house is part of the land/castle complex.
Also of interest to fishing anglers given knowledge of also that aspect of this lake area.

Can I bring.my well behaved dog and sit outside?
Written 28 August 2019
Yes you can. It is part of the Killarney national Park and dogs are very welcome in all parts of the park. Not sure if you can take a dog on the cruise boat though.
