    Beautiful scenery!
This was a really fun excursion! From the meeting point, you are bussed out to where the jaunting carts congregate. The drivers are very organized, four people to a jaunting cart (cash only), so our party of two was paired with another couple.Liam and his dad were great guides; very entertaining:). Be warned that there is a portion of the ride where everyone gets out and walks up a couple of steep hills. I had a walking boot on at the time, so was able to stay in the cart, which made this a pretty good activity to get out and see a lot of things even with limited mobility. There is a nice restaurant (cash only) where are you take a break for a while before the boats take off back to Killarney. The boats are small, open boats, and you go across the lakes until you get back to town. Very scenic!

    A great day out
This is a great tour for outdoor enthusiasts, fabulous scenery. The combination of boat tour and hike was great for active people. It would have been good to have some additional commentary on the boat and information for the self guided hike.

Best way to experience The Gap of Dunloe
What a wonderful day! The boat ride was beautiful. Scenery you won’t see from the road. Then the Jaunting Cart! Our driver was local and so fun to chat with. You can’t beat the views from a wide open cart. Lived it!

    Stunning scenery and experience!
An absolute MUST when visiting Ireland. Stunning scenery and knowledgeable guides. We were blessed with incredible weather as well! If you are taking a jaunting car, be prepared for a decent amount of walking up a steep incline along the way as there is a stretch that is too hard for the horses with a carload. Would definitely do it again!!

    Wonderful experience despite the weather!
A memorable experience only let down by the weather. Fortunately we had dressed appropriately. Would be stunning views and would definitely do the trip again in better conditions. Staff were excellent.

    Wow, wow WOW
An absolutely breathtaking and spectacular day. We loved every minute of it. We were considering walking, but decided to take the Jaunting cart, and we are SO glad we did! It made our trip even more memorable. I can’t speak highly enough of our guide-Micheal, he answered all our questions and spoke so passionately about the area-his local knowledge was second to none. We then had the most delicious vegetable soup at the cafe-an absolute must-before getting on the boat tour. Rory, like Micheal was amazing, I can’t help thinking how lucky we were to have both these guides taking us on our tour Honestly the most amazing day, couldn’t recommend it more

    Wonderful cherished adventure!
We loved every minute of it. The classic bus was adorable!!! Our boat captain Timmy was authentic and great! We got soaked in the boat the weather turned windy and rainy… that just added to the adventure! The jaunting cart was an absolute highlight and very exciting! Our driver Mike was awesome… we laughed all the way! Tom our horse was mighty, strong and wonderful! He liked the hugs of gratitude afterwards. We will cherish this memory forever! ❤️

Absolutely beautiful and well worth the trip.
We had such a great time! A little chilly in November for a Californian, but well worth it. Highly recommend! Patrick had us dying laughing the whole time and even let me take the reins for a moment. Dolly (the pony) wasn't a huge fan of mine. Beautiful scenery, and good company. - Paige Trego

Chilly but picturesque -not to be missed!
I'm not sure there is a better way to really experience and explore the Gap of Dunloe than the combination boat and jaunting car. The views are incredible! It is a chilly adventure to be sure in October, but I wouldn't have missed it. The only improvements I would make is to allow a couple more points to slow down the cart and boat for passengers to photograph and to offer a bit more history and perspective to the passengers. Both our cart driver and boat driver were very quiet, and though they responded to questions, they didn't offer a lot of extra information.

    great value and experience
This was a phenomenal way to see Killarney National Park and the Gap. Contrary to other reviewers we actually started at Ross Castle and they gave us 45 minutes to tour it before hopping on the boat. The directions and expectations were very clear and each of our guides were funny, personable and knowledgeable! My personal favorite part was the boat ride. For the jaunting cart, I would have rather hiked this but we wre traveling with two older family members who were unable to hike the trail and they loved the jaunting cart. I felt a little bad for the horses and offered to get out several times as they are constantly climbing steep hills, so this was not my favorite part, but our guide was gentle with his horse. Overall I think this was a great value for the experience and we would love to come back and explore the park some more!

The Only Way to See the Lakes of Killarney
What an experience to view the Gap of Dunloe and the Black Valley from a traditional jaunting car! Much quicker than walking, but you need to be fit enough to walk about a quarter mile of the steepest ascent where the horse finds the going tough. We loved the open boat trip through the 3 lakes with amusing commentary from the boatman. The high-light was shooting the rapids in the long reach!

Gap of Dunloe Bike & Boat Tour
This took a bit of work: The bike rentals are not affiliated with the ‘barge’ tour. Actually, the ‘barges’ were traditional boats and far more substantial than we anticipated. We expected to just be shuttled across the Lake, but enjoyed a scenic 90 minute tour of the lakes and interconnecting waterways. The bike ride over the Gap of Dunloe included a substantial climb - we are regular riders (non-electric) and actually ended up pushing our bikes for a bit (didn’t help it was during rain). Bike rentals from one of three ‘bike hires’ in Killarney. We used Killarney Bike Bike Rental. Bikes were better than expected, although they would have benefited from some maintenance. Ride from Downtown Killarney to the Ross Castle (where we met the boats) was lovely - through the Park a couple of miles. Views from the Gap back down were breathtaking, with steep canyon walls and cascading waterfalls. Ride back into Killarney did include some riding on roads, but these were low volume. When you get to the main road, there are bike lanes, and then a place to duck into the Park. Great excursion for the day!

    Awesome experience.
Everybody in their lifetime should do this tour. The old taxi bus to Ross Castle was good. The open boat ride was a little wet but had beautiful views. The Gap of Donloe was nothing but spectacular on the Jaunting Car Tour. It was just beautiful, the mountains with waterfalls and the scenery were breathtaking. We were picked up at Kate cottage on a small bus and dropped off at O’Conner pub. Our Jaunting Car driver was very good also. To me it was worth every penny.

    Amazing Tour.
My husband & I did the Gap of Dunloe Bus, Boat & Jaunty tour which was absolutely amazing. Beautiful scenery throughout but especially on the boat trip which was about 1.5 hours. The jaunty ride followed which was great as well. Would love to do again if we get an opportunity to visit Killarney again. Killarney was one of our favourite places in the whole of our 6.5 weeks trip around UK and Ireland and this tour was an absolute highlight of our holiday. Had been so looking forward to this tour and it did't disappoint. Highly recommend!

Truly an adventure! We took the boat through the lakes and small waterways with breathtaking scenery. Then you have the option of waking the gap or taking a carriage ride. We walked the Gap which was definitely a workout but our 8 year old had no problem. Then, took a bus from the cottage for a small fee back to our car. Highly recommended!

Really enjoyed the boat trip through the Lakes and Bailey was great company! My only suggestion would be to be given a longer time to walk through the Gap of Dunloe. We gave business to Lord Brandon’s Cottage and Kate Kearney’s but the bus driver came looking for us at Kate Kearney’s even though we were still early getting on the bus. If he was in a rush then he shouldn’t have taken on the bus driving task. The boat operator was brilliant!

The tour was awesome. The guides were friendly and provided good instructions. the boat ride was well worth it to see the park from the water. We then walked the Gap of Dunloe instead of jaunting. Only downside is the rush you feel at the end to be on time to catch the bus going back to Killarney. The walk is well worth it if you are physically able to do it, but the time limit doesn't allow you much time to take in the scenery and stop to snack. That's the downside, but i'd walk it anytime over jaunting!

The views were great with some interesting info from our boat driver along the way who was a bit of a character. The lunch at the end of the boat ride was simple but tasty. The walk through the gap was worth the effort with fantastic views. It was amusing watching the people who tried to drive the road deal with the narrow roads and the horse and cart operators. There is some definite confusion over the return transport options. We were under the impression that there was a bus from Kate's cottage back into town but once on the boat we were told that there was no bus and we had to buy a ticket with the tour operator to get their bus back to town which we ended up doing. At Kate's cottage a bus turned up eventually but we weren't sure if it was the bus we were supposed to be on or not as it wasn't clear from the details on the bus. We got on the bus and were taken back to Ross Castle so it worked out in the end but could certainly have been organised better.

We really enjoyed this experience. It was gorgeous and we had a lot of fun. The boat tour was a little rougher on the crossing and we got soaking wet, so I am glad we did that part 2nd. We got really wet, but it just kind of added to the experience. The only thing that threw us off was, we weren't sure what time we were going to be pickup from the hotel, so we were not completely ready when the bus came for us. Other than that, we loved it! It was a highlight of the trip.

The boat tour through Gap of Dunloe was absolutely stunning. Loved being able to see so much beauty and hear about the history. Beautiful Ross Castle and boat dropped us off at Lord Brandon’s for a nice lunch. After lunch we walked the 7 miles through Killarney Nat’l Park to Kate Kearneys Cottage. And the national park scenery was AMAZING. It helped to have beautiful weather as a bonus! Totally recommend. We also set up our bus pickup & drop off our from hotel. Thank you for a fabulous tour.

We took the boat from Ross Castle to Lord Brandon's, had lunch there and took the boat back. Our daughter walked the Gap and we picket her up at Kate Kearneys later. The weather was gorgeous , the views were amazing, and all in all it ranks as one the best days of my life.
Will definitely go again.

I booked with Gap of Dunloe Tours for a boat ride from Lord Brandon's Cottage to Ross Castle (booked online on their website, in advance). Our visit was in July 2019. We had parked our car at Kate Kearney's, then walked through the Gap. We arrived early at Lord Brandon's, earlier than the boats depart, so we enjoyed some snacks at the cafe. The boat ride is lovely through the lakes. I was also able to reserve a shuttle ride from Ross Castle to Kate Kearney's where our car remained. I did not find this service on their website, but was able to reserve it via telephone the morning of our boat ride. We found the Gap of Dunloe Tours staff to be very accommodating and professional. I would recommend them.

Very, very nice boat trip to the starting point of the one of the nicest parts of Ireland! The captain explained a lot about the area which made it very interesting.
Be sure at the beginning of the walk, that you walk in the right direction!
