      Ring of Kerry Private Tour
Jim was fabulous. He brought us to places large tour buses can’t get to. We learned so much from him about the history of every place we stopped at. And, he took so many pictures of us. It was a very memorable and fantastic day!

Loved the Tour! Thank you John!
My partner and I went with John for the Ring of Kerry tour in late April. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him! He shared lots of information and stories, balancing the narration with quiet time to enjoy the scenery. There was plenty of time for a tailored conversation about history and the sights we saw. We jumped from prehistory of Ireland, to medieval Ireland, the signs of the Famine on the local landscape, right up to the post-pandemic economics of local holiday rentals! learned a lot from him. A favorite moment for us was walking around St Finian’s Bay and looking out to Skellig Michael, viewing the Blasket Islands and other places not accessible by the larger buses. It was amazing to see ancient ring forts surrounded by much more recent stone walls for sheep grazing! I also would like to sincerely thank John as he helped us figure out logistics to do a trip to the Dingle peninsula when another tour had to cancel. Kindness like that is never expected but so very appreciated. Thank you John, you’re great!

Going that extra mile to make the Ring shine
We took the Ring of Kerry Private day tour on one of the most beautiful Saturdays in May. While a big draw for us was just the scenery in general, one of the particular points of interest for us was to get out to Valentia Island to see the Tetrapod Trackway, because those little fish with feet are my oldest Irish ancestry. Thing is, that's not the easiest tour to find, either on its own or with the RoK included. And even when it's mentioned, not everyone will do it. Enter Joe. It was a busy, beautiful Saturday, and he happily showed us the sights as the RoK is all about the scenery. We stopped to see a sheepdog demonstration, which was great, some ring forts and generally beautiful views toward Dingle. Then we turned off at Port Magee and went over to Valentia Island. First of all, what a wild place that is. The RoK itself of course has some wild spots between the cliffs and valleys and all that in between... but Valentia is something else entirely. I did not think places like this could exist in the same small patch of earth. There's waves crashing on exposed rock (that have 370 MILLION YEAR OLD FISH FOOTPRINTS. WITH TAIL DRAGGY MARKS.) There are clumps of grass and dianthus and mud and gravel and clay falling from the shoreline that sure LOOKS like it should be dunes but it really isn't, it's clay and gravel and mud and dianthus and grass, that holds back walls that hold in cattle that look like they belong in such a rough environment but you still wonder how they move around without breaking their legs, and finally there are houses and small roads and a quarry on top of it all. And I believe that not every tour company would take you out here even if you asked... but Joe did without question (he also said not many folks ask. It is a steep but well maintained walk. And it's amazing. People, go talk to Deirdre and Joe at Killarney Executive tours and let them know you want to see these foot prints. For real. They're magical.) The Ring of Kerry is magical, Valentia is a gem on the edge of it, and Joe was a phenomenal guide. He was patient, had a wonderfully comfortable van, he knew what he was doing and where he was going, and my parents were bushed by the end of the trip and he dropped us off right in front of our self catering apartment at the hotel, which they appreciated.

If possible, book a private tour of the Ring of Kerry
Pat was our guide for our 7+ hour private tour. He understood that we wanted to avoid the trappings of heavy tour bus areas and took us to Skellig and other sites only accessible by vehicle. More than anything, we chatted with Pat and listened to his teachings of Irish past and present history. We asked him lots of questions and he kindly answered them all. We’re so happy we opted for the private tour!!

Being a tourist for the day
Great way to get around to all the main sites in killarney at your own pace. The driver collects you every hour or so again from wherever you get off. If you get this early in the morning you will be able to do the Ross Castle tour, the muckross house tour and see torc waterfall. tour includes Ross Castle , muckross house , muckross Abby , st Mary's cathedral, torc waterfall. It is a good price for all the places you get to see and the ticket gives you access all day

      Loved the private tour!
We did a private Ring of Kerry tour in a car with Sheila and we loved it! Sheila was a great driver and a lovely person, and the nature of the private tour was that we could stop anywhere we wanted and spend as much or little time at each spot as we wanted. The views were breathtaking and the car was extremely comfortable. Some places along the way were closed since it is off-season (such as a planned ice cream stop), but the off-season lack of crowds was a net positive for us! Glad we did the private tour and would definitely recommend it!

Comfortable, relaxing, at your pace. Loved the experience!
We chose to do a private tour after looking at miserable-looking group tour photos online. Tim was our tour guide/driver. He was so pleasant and warm and kind. It was relaxing and comfortable and took about 4 hours total. They provided hotel pickup and drop-off which was so convenient. Tim was very open to whatever we wanted to do. He suggested certain things, and if we didn't seem interested, he skipped them. I loved the areas he took us to, especially the very cute town for lunch. One thing that was missing was more verbal history/info as we drove. It was a very quiet drive and I guess I was expecting more information and history of areas as we saw them. We are a quiet group though so maybe he was just reading the room :) Still a beautiful day and a very scenic tour of the Ring of Kerry. But yeah, if i could offer constructive help to the tour company it would just be for the guides to say more, give more background and history of the locations as you go.

      Honeymoon Highlight!!
I would recommend this private tour to anyone. Totally worth the extra money spent. It was one of the highlights of our 2-week honeymoon. Cass was the best and took us places the buses couldn't get to. She was very knowledgeable and lived in the area. I can't express enough how happy my wife and I are that we booked this trip. She picked us up straight from our hotel and was accommodating to every need we had. If you can find a way to put this into your travel budget, you will not be disappointed! My sister saw some videos and photos we had posted and immediately booked a trip with Cass for this spring!! This trip made the honeymoon of a lifetime much sweeter! Thank you, Cass!

This was a great option for us. We came to Killarney without a car and didn't know exactly how we were going to do Muckross Abbey, House, Torc Waterfall and Mountain. This bus can take you out there and then you can hop on and off or use the trails to walk from destination to destination and pick up at the end. We were dropped off at the Abbey, walked the trails from destination to destination and then were picked up at the Falls.

Very bad service in general. The Bus was late all-day. The last time slot the bus didn't show up at Muckross House.

Is quite expensive for such unreliable service.

You better off take the jaunting cars or taxi cab between the castle, house, and waterfall.

Hi, I have already responded and apologized to your colleague and now offer the same apology to you, I am very sorry that you had such a bad experience with us on Sunday, you will note from other reviews that this was a totally unprecedented situation, we pride ourselves in our punctuality and are rarely late despite Killarney being a very busy and sometimes traffic-congested town. On the day you were with us your driver was on his very first day with the company and he had what can only be described as a day from hell, everything that could go wrong did go wrong, Traffic was unusually hectic and this was not expected, furthermore there was not one but two traffic accidents, one of which happened at our bus stop on Mission road which prevented the bus from moving for over 40 minutes. The bus did complete all of its circuits but was very late and I can only apologize for that. I personally spoke to as many of our customers as I could meet as they returned to the town and thankfully they were all very understanding and empathetic. I too wish I lived in a perfect world where nothing ever went wrong but I'm afraid we don't and for that, I again apologize.

We hoped to be able to see the listed sights from the bus as we rode around the route and so we were disappointed that we couldn't see Muckross House and Ross Castle, etc from the bus. We had limited time in Killarney and thought we could at least see the beautiful sights. In addition, there is an hour between buses. So when you get off the bus you have to wait an hour for the next bus to come. This wasn't clear to us from the description.

Hi 714carolynt, We appreciate you sharing your thoughts here. However, I do want to use this opportunity to clarify a few things. You said in your review that you were disappointed not to be able to see Ross Castle & Muckross House from our bus. This is absolutely correct, which is why we say on our website to hop off the bus and explore at your leisure to see the sights properly. You also mentioned in your review that there is an hour between buses. The reason for this being that we are the only Hop On, Hop Off bus operating in Killarney and we complete the full tour before coming back around to pick up and drop off passengers. This is also stated on our website and can be seen on our full timetable. I hope this clears things up and regret that you were not completely satisfied with our service. Kind Regards, Pat.

This was a great way to see some of the must see sites in Killarney! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. There was plenty of time between pick ups to spend at each location. The fun double decker bus was out of service unfortunately but the air conditioned coach was just fine.

Used the bus one day to get to Torc waterfall and back to the city from Muckross House. The driver told a lot about the area during the drive.
The next day we bought a single ticket to Ross Castle - an inexpensive way to get there, compared to the jaunting cars.

This was the perfect way to get around. My 12 year old son and I got on at 10:30 and saw all of the sights - choosing to spend a couple of hours at some. We even took an open boat tour at Muckross Castle. We missed the tour of the castle because we did the open boat to Innisfallen (highly recommend) so if you want to tour the castle, go inside first. Thanks for a great tour!
