About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 39alissah0 contributionsSpectacular — So Worth It, Especially Because of Gary!Gary, our bus driver/guide was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable about Ireland and this area in particular having lived here his whole life, he taught me so much! It was great to have a local, engaging, funny, and friendly tour guide explaining everything along the drive and pointing out different sites. The Cliffs were spectacular as were the several other stops we made, definitely would recommend! There was an additional coast stop that was stunning, and the Dolmen was a must see as well.Written 5 November 2024

- 781blytheb0 contributionsDave is the GOATDave was an AMAZING guide and driver. His commentary and personality really made this trip memorable! We loved visiting Inisheer and sailing by the cliffs; and loved his mention of one of our favorite shows Father Ted - especially since we weren’t aware the island we visited was part of the show. Also learning that JRR Tolkien was inspired by the countryside near Doolin added so much to our time. In short, Dave’s the best!!!Written 1 November 2024

- Christine J0 contributionsFantastic way to spend an entire day to visit the cliffs of Moher and Aran IslandsWe enjoyed an entire day trip with Dave, our driver and tour guide. We were picked up at our B&B, and then along with passengers from Galway drove to the ferry near Doolen. The ferry took us over to the Aran islands for a tour. We stayed on the ferry to view the Cliffs of Moher from the water, which are spectacular. From there, the bus took us to the top of the Cliffs for another view, for a bite to eat in Doolen and then back to Galway. The tour ends in Galway, so you have to make it back to your B&B if it’s not in the center of the city, but everything is walking distance. All in all, wonderful day with our tour guide Dave. Highly recommend.!!Written 31 October 2024

Amazing tour with a fantastic guide. Anthony was funny and knowledgeable and laid out the day's itinerary right away in the morning, which was important to my 60 year old dad who needs his entire day planned out.
Lunch in Doolin was delicious, and I felt we had plenty of time at each of the stops. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the Cliffs of Moher but doesn't dare attempt driving it.

We happened to have wonderful weather for our visit, so the cliffs were our favorite part. Our driver, Gary, did an outstanding job of providing a detailed commentary on the way out, and then knowing the people would be tired on the way back limited his commentary.
We liked the brief visit (15 min) to Dunguaire Castle and to the Poulnabrone Portal Tomb. The lunch in Doolin Village was well organized and moved along quickly.
We certainly would recommend this trip (and Gary, our driver and guide).

Dave was an absolutely incredible tour guide, seriously I’ve done a few tours in Asia/Europe and he was so passionate - best tour guide ever and he’s definitely in the right job. Because of weather/timing we were able to stop at the bottom of the Cliffs of Moher, I think something the tour doesn’t often do and it was so magical!
We had an extra stop on the way back too thanks Dave!
Dave would stop the bus to feed the donkeys/cows and would point out little things we would have otherwise missed like cottages and castles - excellent trip would definitely recommend

"What made you come to Ireland for your holiday?" Garry asked. I was drawn to Ireland for its rugged beauty and our day seeing the Cliffs of Moher and The Burren didn't disappoint. When Garry asked, "What was your favorite part of your day?", the first thought that honestly came to mind was "You!"
Just as there is no shortage of sights to see in Ireland, I have no shortage of praise for Garry. Look no further for the perfect example of Irish hospitality - he delivered above and beyond his promise to take care of us. He is warm, friendly, hilarious, caring, and genuinely prioritizes his guests' enjoyment.
It's also a wonder how he managed to drive us safely and comfortably along these winding roads while also sharing a wealth of information about Ireland's history, culture, and ecology in an engaging and entertaining way. Garry knows these roads like the back of his hand and seems to be tailoring his tours according to the changes he observes (ie a roof made of grass that recently appeared on a house we passed by) and his audience's interest. A few days later, I found myself sharing about the science and engineering behind dry stone walls to some locals at a bar when the topic came up because I had learned so much from Garry! His sincere commitment to excel at what he does, deliver the best experience, and host others with careful attention left deep impressions.
While renting a car is often recommended when visiting Ireland, I was just barely old enough to rent a car and didn't want to learn how to drive manual on the other side of the road. A tour ended up being the best way to see sights as a solo traveler. At certain places, our time was limited due to local tourism regulations, but Garry maximized our time at the cliffs as much as possible. While I could've stayed at the cliffs all day, I didn't feel rushed and was satisfied with our time there. I also chose Galway City Tours because it offers a stop at Poulnabrone Dolmen, which not all tours specify on their websites. Our allowed 20 minute stop felt adequate.
All in all, I came to Ireland for her nature and will return, hopefully very soon, for her people - and Garry is largely responsible for that! Go raibh míle maith agat Gary :-)!

Our trip was fantastic. We traveled in a small bus and our driver Paul was very good both as a driver and as a guide. I highly recommend this route, especially the rocky area of the Burren and The Wild Atlantic Way left a special experience. The Cliffs of Moher were already known to be amazing and 2 hours to explore and spend time on your own is very enough. We were also lucky with exceptionally good weather - you can't always see the Moher Cliffs in the sunshine. Paul's explanations and stories were easy to understand even for a foreigner. It was nice that there was room for my own thoughts and feelings besides that, and there was also very good traditional Irish music playing on the bus.

I’m not normally a fan of tour buses, but our family booked this so we went along. Gary truly made this such a fantastic trip. I cannot recommend this tour enough! The bus ride is very comfortable, he’s an incredible driver and checked on those of us who get motion sick often to make sure we were okay. The stops were all gorgeous and well worth the time. If you’re able to request a tour guide, ask for Gary, you won’t regret it!

This tour to the Cliffs and surrounding area is the highlight of my time in Galway. I had booked my ticket through the hostel I was staying at, but they had scheduled me for the wrong day. The tour company and bus drivers had me squared away and ensured I had a spot on the bus. Ray was our driver and he made sure we all had a great time. My tour was his first time back since the pandemic and he did NOT disappoint. His knowledge of Galway and Ireland is extensive and wonderfully interwoven with his kind and funny personality. He really made what could have been an average tour, into a fully fledged Irish experience. Heck- even when the CD he had for music wasn’t cooperating, he got us all to sing some traditional Irish songs and that’s something I will never forget.
There were several stops on the way to and coming back from the Cliffs and Ray made sure we had enough time to experience each spot. Aside from the Cliffs of Moher, we stopped at the Baby Cliffs, Poulnabrone Tomb, and Dunguaire Castle.
I cannot wait to go on another tour with Galway City Tours. This was WONDERFUL!

This trip was delightful! We had Gerry as our guide. Excellent stories, Gerry sang some Irish songs for us (and had a wonderful voice!), and the view along the Wild Atlantic Way on the return from the Cliffs was spectacular. We loved learning all the fun facts that Gerry shared about the places we passed along the way. 2 hours was plenty of time for us to wander around at the Cliffs. Our trip included a brief stop at Dunguaire Castle and Poulnabrone Dolmen on the way there. We also made a short stop at the Baby Cliffs of Ballyreen while driving back along the Wild Atlantic Way, which was such a gorgeous sight as the sun was setting on the water.
My only quibble was the stop at Doolin Village for lunch, as it was just okay. Other buses stopped at the same time so the restaurants were all packed and really only with other tourists (e.g., everyone got seated with other parties and there were not enough seats for everyone), and the food itself was just fine.
However, we'd do it all again as is in a heartbeat. We had thought about driving ourselves to the Cliffs but because of all the fun information, the stops we wouldn't have known about, and the ease of travel, we are so glad we chose to do this tour instead!

Gary was a fantastic guide and was so helpful in answering all of our questions and making sure my grandmother got to experience the Cliffs when she was unable to walk to the top by having staff there provide transport for her to the top! It was a lovely day full of beautiful stops, sights and learning. Gary is a passionate, positive, funny, articulate and fun guide - we can't thank him enough! We had amazing food at a quaint pub in Doolin and had just enough time at the Cliffs to explore, check out the visitor centre and do some gift shopping. We arrived back in Galway right on time for dinner and he provided many recommendations for us to eat, listen to live Irish music and enjoy a few pints. I'd recommend this trip to anyone as it's a full day of exploring at a great price.

This tour is an unbelievable value for the price! 10 of my family went on Sunday, October 8th on a tour with the incredible Gary, who drove this huge bus WHILE giving commentary - history, jokes, interesting sights. He was great with the crowd and kids too. He somehow managed to wrangle 60 people to get on and off the bus in a timely manner so we were able to see SO MUCH on the way to and from the Cliffs. And we got very lucky and saw the Cliffs on a clear day too.
One of the best surprises was stopping at a small pub for lunch, and the pub had AMAZING food (try the cheesecake if they have it too, I'm still dreaming about it) and a great system for getting all 60 of us taken care of in a short time.
I highly recommend Galway Tour Company and this tour in particular. The views were breathtaking, I'm still thinking about it.
HOT TIP: Make sure to get to the bus early to grab seats together!

Question for the Galway Tour Operators: What are the biggest differences between the two tours that go to Doolin and the Cliffs (the 10 am vs noon departures). I see the earlier includes the castle stop, what else is different? Do they both return via the Wild Atlantic Way?
Written 11 February 2019
Dear simmyny sorry for delay to your question. The day we took the half day Galway tour was amazingly beautiful. We knew we didn't want to spend the entire day on a tour. We spent part of the morning walking Galway City and the length of the afternoon your for us was perfect. The bus operator was funny, knowledgeable and also added a few more items at the end which extended the your about 35 minutes. Had the weather been rainy etc, maybe a full day tour would have worked for us. Thank you for your question. Rich

Can ask approximately what time we arrive at the cliffs, after stopping in Doolin?
Written 12 July 2018
Doolin is very close to the Cliffs. We had lunch at Doolin and then went on to the cliffs. We had about an hour and a half at the cliffs. We had a very full day - we also stopped at the Burren, and a few other places - Dunguaire Castle, a ruined church with quite a few Irish crosses, a portal tomb. Sorry, I can't tell you of the exact time, but probably around 1:30.
