Arrive in Doolin, and catch a ferry to the Aran Islands. Your ferry stops at Inisheer, one of the smallest Aran Islands. Best day trip in Ireland
This tour was amazing. It’s a great way to see the country side and see so much in one day. It’s also a great way to learn about different landmarks. Our tour guide was awesome.

      Great day!
Great stops! I came with my dad and we both enjoyed ourselves very much! Gave reduced price tickets into the abbey or you could hike into the national park! The abbey and grounds around were amazing! Our guide Damien was very knowledgeable and was very personable! Only warning, if you get car sick, you are on curving roads all day and might be something to think about!

      Breathtaking
The views were amazing, we have taken a lot of photos. The tour itself was also very nice, we were driven by Damien. He stopped along the way and explained why that very place was so special. So the drive itself was also worth our while!

      Beautiful Views
I loved this trip! It was the highlight of my two weeks in Europe, and especially my highlight in Ireland. The tour guide brought us along the scenic route to the cliffs, so we had some spectacular views on the way there. We had plenty of time to explore the cliffs during the two hour break there. We stopped for lunch on the way up, and made it back to Galway just before dinner time. Despite the long "run time" of the tour, the day went by so fast. I would recommend this tour to everyone!

A good tour despite the fog.
Alan was a great tour guide. He did his best to keep things interesting despite the foggy day (hazard of touring in December) Comfortable bus, interesting commentary

      Awesome tours & tour guides!
We loved our tour with Wild Atlantic! We took the day trip from Galway to the Cliffs of Moher. Our tour guide Jerry was awesome—he was extremely well-versed on the history of the area and sent us on our way with a ton of cool facts (and a few jokes as well!). Beautiful misty day on the Irish coast. We had a train to catch afterward and were able to keep our bags under the bus, which was a plus. Definitely recommend doing a bus tour (or two!) during your time in Ireland—it’s a great way to see a lot of different places in one day!

      Cliffs of Mohr
A great way to see cliff of mohr both by sea and land. The ferry trip to Aran island is worth the visit. The right amount of time for each destination. Alan our driver/ guide was very personable and kept everything running smoothly.

      Alan was great!
We had Alan as a tour guide and he was absolutely phenomenal. He went about and beyond to make sure that everyone on the entire bus got to do what they wanted to do when we reached the Aran Islands. Be aware that the ferry ride can be a little rough, but the sights are worth it.

Allan and his Coach are the way to see the Wild Atlantic Way!
Great full day tour with good value and we experienced important highlights of the Galway area. The coach was very comfortable and the coach driver and tour guide Allan was the best. Allan was funny with Irish jokes, knowledgable history and tips, plus he even showed us a great pub on the Aran Islands. The ferry ride was a little bumpy but the sun was shining on the Cliffs of Moher! The drive through the burren was fascinating and enjoyed not needing to drive those narrow roads!

Amazing trip to the Cliffs of Moher
I loved this tour with Wild Atlantic Way and Alan was our guide/driver. Alan is so funny, I loved his humor. He also provided a lot of information about the land and the history of Ireland. I learned so much from him. Just three of us on the bus were doing the cliff walk while the rest were doing a ferry to the Aran Islands then back to the Cliffs. I had more than enough time to walk from Doolin to the Visitors center at a nice slow pace on a beautiful sunny and warm day. I even got a chance to walk further along the cliffs and had a nice lunch at the Visitor center. We saw the unique landscape of the Burren on our way back to Galway.

      Fantastic hike and beautiful scenery
Wonderful trip with 3 hours to hike Diamond Hill in Connemara National Park. This was plenty of time and I got some great pictures of the beautiful scenery. We saw tons of sheep on our way back to Galway. Mike was an excellent tour guide and driver. I learned so much about the land and history of Ireland from him.

      TWO Great Trips With Them!
The first was to the Cliffs of Moher (a 2-hour stop there). Chris, our driver, was great. A born stand-up comedian, if there ever was one. And, he was incredibly informative. Lots of other stops, pictures, etc. Mike, the driver for our second trip was also great. We went to Connemara National Park for 3 hours. There was an option for that or for Kylemore Abbey. Again, lots of stops. Both trips were well organized. You leave from Kinlay Hostel, which is centrally located just "below" Eyre Square.

      Amazing tour
Excellent trip and what a lovely guide! The coach was new and the guide was an excellent driver. Only wish we had 10 more minutes at the Burren. But otherwise, lovely day!

Cliffs of Moher trail without a car
We are used to organise our trips ourselves and move by foot a lot, but as the public transport in Ireland is rather nonexistent, we had to choose organised trips for once. And this one was great! We took a bus from Galway alongside the coast through few villages and Burrens to Doolin. The views were amazing and the guide's information about history and culture of the area very interesting. In Doolin, we left the rest of the group (they paid for Arrans version of the trip) and went by foot from there to the Visitor Center on Mohers Cliffs along the cliffs. We had 5 hours for 8 km, so there was a plenty of time to get a coffee, enjoy educational material of the Center, and go further along the cliffs. If you spend less time in the Visitor Center, it's possible to get to the Moher Tower at Hag's Head and back in time. Then we left with a bus from the Visitor Center (the guide checked on us if we arrived alright) through Lindoosvarna and Burrens (where we missed a beautiful sightseeing because of heavy rain) and got back to Galway. Our guide was Alan and he was a great person for the job! The trail along the cliffs was somewhere between a muddy single stop to wider gravel path, not closer than 0.5 m to the edge and always bounded by fence of near pastures on one side. There was railing on cliff side only in some worst parts and around the Visitor Center. You cannot get lost, all the other ways are locked. But there were some kind of 0.5 - 1 m high gates (?) in the path which you had to overstep to get further. We had 30 km/h wind from the sea and it was unpleasant sometimes, but safe. I would be more careful with stronger rain although.

As many others have said, this is primarily a very bumpy bus tour marketed as a cruise. Please update the information on this page so people like myself who don't do well on long, rough bus rides can know to look for another option. From reading the description and the noted itinerary, it sounded like this was primarily going to be a cruise past the cliffs and out to the islands rather than a long bus tour. That's not to say the tour is unpleasant, it's just not what I was lead to expect from the listing. I'm clearly not the only person who's had this issue so I would seriously recommend taking these complaints seriously before someone litigious books this tour and gets surprised.

The guide was friendly, the only thing I would change is the information on this page to be better representative of what to expect, I would not have booked this if I had understood it would be two long bus rides to and from a brief ferry ride.

Although our tour guide was very nice and gave a nice tour, this tour desciption is worded poorly. We signed up for what was billed as a boat tour of the Aran Islands with a view of the Cliffs of Moher. Instead, it was a bus tour with a short boat ride to Innisheer, the closest and smallest of the Aran Islands. Then the return trip took us past the cliffs, and then we got back on the bus and again went to the cliffs. Although the cliffs are amazing, we hD already just been there because we wanted to see the cliffs from land and this tour said nothing about then stopping at the cliffs park and viewing area. This is a bus tour sold as a sea island tour. We had fun with a good host (Damian) but buyers should be aware this is a bus tour and you'll only see the nearest part of Innisheer where the village is. I recommend hiring a horse drawn cart and getting a tour while you are there (an additional 10 Euro per person).

Nothing surprises me any more. This review is in general fairly accurate, this is a bus / coach tour. In fact in the 'What to expect' section of the tour description is says "Once you board your coach for the day." That's the very FIRST line. Apart from that I'm delighted to read that the tour you got was the tour you purchased. Unfortunately, the tour you purchased was not the one you wanted. Maybe if you'd read the poorly worded description, it could have saved us both a lot of typing.

We booked this trip weeks in advance and were disappointed when the weather turned really bad the 24 hours before the trip. On the plus side, our guide was very informative and we enjoyed his perspective on current events plus his history lessons. I believe his name was Peader and in addition to being a good guide, he was a very good driver which is not an easy thing in a large bus on narrow rainy back roads. We were happy to take the day off from driving.

The fact that something like the Aran Islands still exist in this day and age is truly amazing. Our horse and buggy driver was born and raised on the islands and provided us with a lot of the island's history. It is quite challenging to live on these remote islands relying on the summer tourist industry to pay for a whole year of expenses but the residents seem happy to do so and appear to have a lovely community bond.

Due to the yucky, rainy day, our boat trip to the Cliffs of Mohr was cancelled for our safety and there was no refund but we were able to spend more time at the Visitors Center at the Cliffs.

My friends and I loved this tour, and we would wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone we know! Our travel style is usually more do-it-yourself, but we are so glad we decided to do this more planned tour to see Inisheer and the Cliffs of Moher. We kept remarking on what a good deal it was, how much we learned, and how we felt like we had the perfect amount of time at each destination. We were so impressed with our tour guide John. Being able to drive a bus on windy (and beautiful!) country roads while expertly providing informative and entertaining commentary, while also creating friendly rapport with the passengers is truly an amazing feat! Thank you John and everyone at Wild Atlantic Way for this incredible adventure!

Gerry was the best tour guide. Such a kindhearted and lovely man. So knowledgable about this part of Ireland and a real joy to chat with. I would love to tour with him again.

The ONLY concern I had was with the covid protocols of this company. I don’t blame Gerry, but there were a couple of tour participants who refused to wear masks on the bus even after I politely asked them to. There were no guidelines or protocols for this and it was just plain rude of them. I guess you can have that on any group tour with strangers but I wish the company had some policies in place to protect other guests but more importantly their staff!! I’m sure Gerry didn’t want to be enclosed in a small bus for hours with these rude people just as much as I didn’t. Perhaps requiring proof of vaccination would be a good start.

Such a great trip and wonderful day spent with Gerry! We thoroughly enjoyed getting to hear about the history of the region as we saw the gorgeous sights out of the bus window. We lucked out with weather and had a beautiful, sunny 16 degree day that let us see loads of things in the distance, too. The island was so fun - though our advice is definitely to get the £10 bikes or pay for a horse ride! Even with bikes we found the time pretty tight to fit more than the shipwreck, castle, and grabbing a bite to eat. If we had walked, not sure we would have been able to do all three!

The cliffs were, of course, amazing and an incredible thing to see. The tower was closed but that didn’t stop us from having a great time with great views. On the way back, Gerry played music and many people napped before we got to the last stop, Dunguaire castle, where we had time to get out an explore a bit.

Would definitely recommend this day trip for anyone visiting Galway! :)

The coach journey gave some spectacular views, and the commentary from the driver (Damien) was both entertaining and informative.

The boat trip was a great way to get a short visit to Inisheer, the smallest of the Aran islands.

The trip to the visitor centre a the cliffs of Moher was also spectacular. They packed a lot into a single day, and I would really want to go again for a longer stopover on the islands and to explore the cliffs a bit more.

The only issue for us was the drive from Galway to the harbour and the return trip from Moher back to the city are both long stretches, and as there's no toilet on board it can be a bit tricky if you need to use the bathroom. It would be great if they could get a coach with facilities on board, or maybe arrange for a comfort break at some point on the longer stretches of the journey.

Despite that one thing, we'd thoroughly recommend the trip!

Thank you for your review. I'm delighted that you enjoyed your day with us. Welcome to the world of the truck driver. There is a lot of media coverage lately in relation to the shortage of truck drivers, particularly in the UK. It's not a huge problem here yet, but it soon will be. Ask any UK truck driver if they'd like their children to enter the profession and the majority will answer in the negative. Among the reasons they mention is the lack of facilities for them while out on the road. To be honest, our drivers and passengers don't really have it that bad. The tour departs Galway at 09:00 and gets to Doolin just after 10:30 for the 11:00 ferry. In the afternoon, it takes about the same, 1.5 hours from the Cliffs of Moher to Galway. We really can't and shouldn't complain.

Once arrived at the bus for the departure, our trip organizer told us that the cruise was deleted because of the rough sea and the wind. So we couldn't see the Aaran Islands nor the Cliffs of Moher by the sea. You could require a compensation of the entire tour or do an alternative tour by bus. We did this one and it consisted of visiting a modest cave in the morning, several stops along the coast, walking the Cliffs of Moher and seeing a castle near Galway; but it was way different from the original tour we paid for. I understand the ocean is very dangerous but I think we should ave been warned at least the evening before the trip to have time to organize our day in a different way and in my opinion a part of the price should have been returned anyway. Furthermore both our organizer and the guide of the cave spoke a very strict "Irish English" so that even intermediate English speaker could understand only few words and that's not fair considering that most of the tourists were foreigners.

Thank you for reviewing our Alternative Tour. It is rare that our ferry to Inisheer doesn't operate but it does happen as you outline. The decision to operate the ferry or not is made by the captain early in the morning and we are notified accordingly. This decision is not made any earlier as the weather can change overnight. As you point out, you and your fellow passengers were informed that the ferry to Inisheer was cancelled due to rough sea conditions and therefore the tour you booked was cancelled. You were offered the following the 3 options: 1. Disembark the tour vehicle and get a full refund. 2. Disembark the tour vehicle and reschedule your tour for another date in the hope that the weather would be more favourable. 3. Stay on the tour vehicle and do the alternative land based tour as outlined by the loading agent. The alternative land based tour includes a guided tour of the Aillwee Cave, extra stops in the Burren, a lunch stop in Doolin and an extended stop at the Cliffs of Moher. The Aillwee Cave or 'Modest Cave' as you describe it is one of Irelands leading showcaves and is very highly rated on this platform. I don't know what you mean by 'Irish English?' You appear to have understood that the ferry was cancelled, therefore your tour was cancelled, that there is a full refund available or you could do the alternative tour. You chose to do the alternative tour and from your review I see that the alternative was as described and understood.

I can’t say enough about the absolutely fantastic time my husband & I had on this all-day tour! Our tour bus guide was fun and patient, and kept us informed throughout the journey. We headed straight down to the ferries for Inisheer and once boarded, you could feel the excitement of all the passengers. The trip to Inisheer was blustery but fun with a few wet surprises for some. Inisheer itself was a rocky delight. You had your choice of transportation and we chose the tractor ride (aka hayride, but enclosed) but some chose bikes, or the horse-drawn open wagon, or hiking. No matter, we got to see the Island from the bottom to the top and learn how the residents have adapted to a rugged life on this rock-strewn ancient island. Thank you Tina, our tour/tractor driver!
Next, we headed out on the ferry to view the base of the Cliffs of Mohr from the water. It was incredible! And the slight roughness of the sea made it an exciting ride, which we loved! Other’s in our group, unfortunately had eaten too much at lunch on the island, then “gave” it back to the Atlantic! But our “ride” was exciting and we laughed all the way to the cliffs, then “Oohed and Ahhed” at the magnificence of those cliffs, up close & personal! After docking back at the landing, we reboarded our bus to take us to the top of the cliffs. The modern multimedia museum there is awesome, and the walk up to the top sections of the cliffs turned out to be not as strenuous as they look. There are steps leading up and easy pathways. I am 67, with a titanium hip and Scoliosis, but I was able to walk up just fine. But there are golfcart shuttles for those who are unable to walk it, so no worries. They’ve got you covered! All in all, this was the best part of our entire Ireland vacation. I beg you to take this tour, either from Galway, Dublin, or other locations. You do not want to miss the Wild Atlantic Way! (A tip: keep your masks on duringvthese Covid times…. we were lax and now believe we got Covid from some other bus passengers, as it was a closed environment, and we felt comfortable lowering our masks, but getting friendly with other passengers was our downfall and we both got Covid that 2nd week of our trip!)

My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our anniversary by going on this trip, I can honestly say it was one of the most incredible and memorable days I’ve ever experienced!

Our tour guide/driver Gerry was an absolute gentleman! He went above and beyond to ensure the tour was exceptional. From sharing historical stories and facts about everywhere we went, to getting us to the front of the ferry queue, to making an extra stop at Dunghaire Castle, & dropping us right outside our accommodation on the way home (Saving us so much time and hassle), we couldn’t have asked for more!

The trip is unbelievable value for money. You get to experience so so much in one day, I genuinely cannot recommend it enough you won’t regret it or ever forget it 💚
