- Dorothy M0 contributionsBucket List ExperienceThis tour was perfect. Tommy, our guide, was delightful. He was funny, charming and historically informative. The sites were breathtaking and it was a once in a lifetime experience. We just loved it. The drop off and pick up was convenient and easy to get to by train. We totally enjoyed ourselves and we highly recommend this company and especially riding with Tommy.Written 24 March 2025
- dawnkA8675YD0 contributionsA perfect day trip from GalwayWe had a great day at Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. Tommy was our guide and driver and was fun, friendly and very informative. We had a delicious lunch at a local pub and made a couple sightseeing stops on the way. It was a perfect day!Written 22 March 2025
- 954hayatn0 contributionsAmazingI was really looking forward to visiting this place, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The service was slow, and the staff seemed disorganized. The food arrived cold, and the flavors were bland. I also noticed that the cleanliness of the place could be improved, which made me uncomfortable. Considering the price, I felt that the quality was not up to standard. I brought up my concerns, but the staff didn’t seem too interested in resolving the issue. I wouldn’t recommend this place and won’t be coming back.Written 22 March 2025
- DanH3570 contributionsGreat day with TommyThe Cliffs and the Burren are both well worth the drive from Galway - especially THIS drive from Galway. Very comfortable, elevated buses with large windows, and almost constantly something interesting/beautiful to see. But the "secret sauce" is the driver, Tommy. A natural entertainer and storyteller who just happens to know loads of Irish history. Oh, and also how to thread a huge bus through narrow, twisty roads.Written 18 March 2025
- tracygc20010 contributionsAn fantastic experienceThe guide was so knowledgeable and detail driven, he showed us many hidden gems, as well as the insights only from locals, you can tell he loves what he do, is proud of his town and his country. Though it was a full bus he tried hard to make everyone enjoyed! Never a dull moment! Highly recommend for going on this tour if you don’t know where to go!Written 18 March 2025
- michaeloO8235JN0 contributionsAmazing Experience…Great Guide!Dave was an amazing bus driver, tour guide, DJ, and comedian! He was very informative but not too talkative. He made an effort to get to know everyone on the tour. The Cliffs were amazing from the water and land and the Aran Island was such a unique experience. The weather was great so we had no issues with the boat ride. We did self guided bike tour on the island with bike company Dave recommended. And he gave suggestions at each site as to what he would do. Would highly recommend Galway Tour Comoany. We’ve never left a review like this before but this was an amazing trip for our whole family. We took another tour earlier on our trip with another tour company and the guide was very pushy about leaving a review (that he wouldn’t get work without good reviews, etc) Dave was just a classy fun guy. He mentioned leaving a review but we wanted to let everyone know what a great guide he was.Written 14 March 2025
- N3664YCmelanieb0 contributionsHave the craic with Tommy!Tommy was an excellent bus driver / tour guide! We learned more from him about Galway and Ireland history than on our walking tour in Galway. He kept us entertained (ton of laughter on the bus). The island is small and they do offer “add-on” services on the island (I.e. mini bus, horse and carriage, biking) for additional fee. We took the mini bus around the island, which was warm :) and informative, yet finished an hour before departure. Although you can go to the hotel pub during that time, next time we’d probably opt for horse or bike for a lil slower experience. This is about a 10 hour experience so prepare yourself. You will be taken to a pub for a late lunch (3-4pm) after visiting the island and boat tour by the cliffs. If you tend to get hangry, bring a snack. You can leave bags on the bus with Tommy if you prefer. Overall, highly recommend.Written 14 March 2025
- G2804QFcarolines0 contributionsReally enjoyable and fun packed dayTommy was an informative and welcoming guide. He went above and beyond to provide an alternative when my friend didn’t want to do cliffs of moher boat trip. There was a range of options to see Innisheer. We opted for the horse and cart but other options such as mini bus and bike would also be good to see the main sites in around an hour.Written 12 March 2025
- cmherzog0 contributionsAnthony was great! We took this tour as travelers who had already been to many of the sights visited and we loved having Anthony as our tour guide! He had great narration during our drives and kept everyone on schedule. It was great to just hop off and enjoy each of the sights on our own and even stop at a local pub for lunch. The tickets included entry to the Cliffs of Moher so you could just get off and enjoy. I would definitely recommend Galway Tour Company (and Anthony!) for any tours.Written 11 March 2025

The Connemara and Cong day tour was probably the best day tour we went on out of the four day tours we took during our three week long trip. This was due to the beauty of the landscape, the exceptional service and commentary Mike provided us with and the fact that we had beautiful weather throughout the day. Mike was very attentive and ordered a wheelchair for us to use at Kylemore Abbey which we were grateful for. He was funny and entertaining the entire trip. Mike seems to know everyone personally who lives along the road he travels on, including humans, sheep, horses or dogs. *HONK*. Mike, you’re a legend. Please don’t ever change - you were a highlight of our time in Ireland. Mike is unforgettable.
Kylemore Abbey has attached gardens, and they were vast. There were some Connemara ponies adjacent to the grounds that were fed periodically. There were also two happy pigs that also deserve a visit.
Mike also tried his best to keep on schedule, but some people who went on the tour were late without being very apologetic about it. Don’t do this guys, if you go on a guided day tour, be on time and also hold your tongue while the guide is actually doing his job when he tells regional history and local anecdotes. Just make up your mind beforehand whether the tour suits your preferences and habits. Don’t disturb the other people on the bus, they paid the exact same price as you did. We brought our own lunch but there is a cafe at Kylemore Abbey. The city of Congh was surprisingly cute.
Note: the colour on the backs of the sheep are no indicator of their religion. This is private information and you should not ask the sheep about it. That's just rude.
Oh and make sure that a female sits behind Mike’s seat. If he gets into a fatal accident, his biggest fear is the headline “bus driver dies in the lap of a man”. Respect the guy, people. Cheers.

Ray was our driver/guide and he had piles of information about the area as well as more specific details about the towns and villages, mountains and valleys, rivers and lakes as he drove past. He interspersed his documentary with jokes and songs as well as his signature phrases - 'if it makes sense' and 'if you know what I mean'. Rain was forecast on the day we went and, in fact, it did rain but Ray kept insisting that the sun would appear and eventually it did as soon as we arrived at Kylemore Abbey. I had been quite enthralled by pictures of Kylemore Abbey and the estate did not disappoint. It is stunning and the location is beautiful. If you're in Galway, I would definitely recommend doing the day tour to Connemara with the Galway Tour Company

Very good excursion, unfortunately the accent of our driver/guide was quite complicated compared to the others so it was quite complicated to understand. But the landscapes were beautiful, excursion made in autumn so the trees were very orange, beautiful. You can see the lakes on the way and stop only once for a lake. The abbey is really beautiful, we have time to visit everything inside and the church to rate and also eat typical Irish dishes, very very good and cheap!! I recommend.

It is winter. I should have chosen the tour company that offers earlier times. This tour is best for summer time. They should started early during winter and just end it early. Imagine you'll go to Cong at 4pm and it is already dark? Cong offers a castle in the woods which would have been nice to see if we arrive before the sun down. Plus if it is a Sunday, there is 11.30am mass offered in Kylemore Abbey. We arrived 12nn. Imagine travelling from 10am to 12nn and then you are only left for 2 hours to explore the Garden, Kylemore Abbey, Musoleo, the Gothic Church plus you have to take lunch as well. Time is too short for this tour and you will not enjoy it cause you will always feel that you don't have that much time. If you don't want a fast paced tour, find a tour that offers more hours or departs earlier. This tour feels like you are on a race and need to finish every spot as soon as possible. Minute to win it. Plus bring your own food. The food is so expensive in the Kylemore abbey and it doesn't taste good. Also, please be generous and try to donate to the Benedictine Sisters even €1 makes a difference. They need support.

Dear Customer,
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback regarding your recent experience on our Connemara and Cong day tour. We value your insights and aim to address your concerns comprehensively.
While daylight hours in December range from approximately 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, we work under a licence, and cannot offer an earlier time.
Our goal is to offer a comprehensive experience within a day's tour, which can sometimes result in a brisk pace. For guests seeking a more leisurely exploration, we recommend our private hire tours, allowing for customized schedules and extended visits at preferred sites.
We wholeheartedly support your suggestion to donate to the Benedictine Sisters. Even a modest contribution can significantly impact their community, and we encourage our guests to consider supporting their endeavors.
We're pleased to note that many travelers have had positive interactions with our guides and tours. For instance, recent reviews have highlighted our drivers' knowledge and the breathtaking views experienced during the tours. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another tour, perhaps during the summer months, to experience these sites under more favorable conditions.

We did the 10am-6pm tour of Connemara, Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Garden, and Cong (35 euros/person). Our guide/driver Mike, who should be a professional comedian, gave a memorable tour with very interesting history and stories of that area (not so sure about the 3 available bachelors looking for wives along the way). The time passed by so quickly because the driver's comments on the bus ride were really funny and poignant at the same time. I highly recommend this tour if you are in Galway.

It was two weeks ago now, so I hope that I remember correctly the name of the Bus-driver who was the most amazing host, guide and comedian in one person. Michel was giving us information about the countries history. This was my first day and first experience and I fell in love with Irish countryside.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour.

Very scenic tour through the area. Mountains & valleys & lakes on the way to Kylemore Abbey and returning through Cong, where “The Quiet Man” was filmed. Tommie Dixon was our driver/tour guide and did a great job narrating & navigating the narrow roads of the countryside.

The tour is oerated well. Buses are nice and some even have wifi. The tour itself was nice. Conemara is abeautiful region and our driver and guide was very entertatining full of stories and mostly gave us enough time at each stop. The exteriors of Kylemore Abbey were amazing. You dont get to access the entire Castle, restricted to just the main floor which was a bit dissapointing. Gardens and Tea house are nice. Cong was a bit dissapointing. There are a few hikes there to enjoy Kong but the bus does not stop there. Main attraction (Quiet Man museum) was closed for some reason. we finished the tour early. Maybe we could have spent more time at Cong.

The tour was really great, the landscape is just magnificent and the Eamon did a great job. The tour was informative of Irish history, geography, landscape, historical/cultural significance of the places that we visited. Eamon had a great Irish sense of humor that made the trip fun.
We made a lot of stops to click photographs, walk around capturing the beautiful landscape of Lough Corrib, Inagh Valley and Killary harbour. The tour did not cover Ross Errily Frairy for some reason but it was all made up for by the other places we got to visit.
We spent about an hour exploring the Cong village, another beautiful spot, it's a small village with lots of beautiful sites, that you can walk around , the Cong Abbey is in ruin but makes a beautiful site . Eamon did a great job with the description of The Quite Man and it's relevance to the village. The village has a thorough map of what could be explored. It was worth the visit.
Kylemore abbey is beautiful inside and out. I thought 2 hours was a bit less if you want to cover both Kylemore Abbey and the gardens but it was a great tour anyway. Information brochures are provided at the abbey. The entry tickets provided by the tour cost less than if you buy them online or at the entrance. Since you're given only 2 hours I would recommend to go with what you like, the house, the church and the mausoleum will roughly take an hour and a half if you want to explore properly, the Victorian gardens will take another hour. So it's a matter of choice on how you ration your time. The café in the Abbey is really great too, Covid guidelines are strictly adhered too.
Eamon did a great job being a great guide with his knowledge, wit and experience. The Connemara National park is absolutely stunning that makes the bus ride very pleasant.

This was our first and last bus tour, it was tiring and not worth our time as majority of the time is spent on the bus for a "guided tour," but sitting in the back of the bus we could hardly hear the driver. There was a very loud family sitting beside us who were loud and rowdy and we couldn't hear the driver above their voices. Altogether you spend 2 hours and 20 minutes at the Abbey, which is beautiful but not much selection for food. Then back on the bus to Cong where you only get one hour. I would have much rather spent more time in Cong where there are a variety of restaurants and much to see. We felt rushed when out of the bus and then spent a LONG time in the bus. 3 hours and 20 minutes out of the bus, and 4 hours and 40 minutes on the bus. Someone got sick on the bus which made it smell. After Cong it was just a ride in a bus without any "guiding" not that we could hear the driver anyway. By the end of the tour I cancelled our next tour because it just was not how I want to spend my time when I've travelled all this way. Although the family around us is out of the control of the bus driver, it severely impacted our ability to enjoy, and learn, about the area. The bus was packed and we couldn't move anywhere. The pros are that we got to see Connemara in all its beauty. The landscape is stunning. The Abbey is not worth it, you're better off going somewhere where there is a community, not a monastery.

Does the tour offer a time to see the Quiet Man Museum?
Written 19 September 2019
We had roughly 45 minutes in Cong, and as others have shared, you would have time to see the museum. We weighed out the other options and decided to forego the museum. Prior to leaving the States, we were told that a more interesting site was the building that served as the pub in the movie. Could be an option.

Written 17 April 2019
I believe about 2 hours, I felt I had plenty of time to really enjoy.
Written 20 October 2019
Yes. We stopped in Cong for enough time to walk around the town. We saw the Pat Cohan bar...you can go in and have lunch or a pint, The Quiet Man Museum, John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara statue...Just make sure when you buy your tickets it includes Cong as a stop.

Is Ashford castle within walking distance from the drop-off point in Cong village? If so, was anybody able to go inside and look around or are much of the grounds private?

It's roughly a 15 minute walk. We didn't make the walk, but are of the understanding that the grounds are private.
