Wow was this an amazing experience for me and my wife! John, Andrew, and Michael were absolutely fabulous. They kept chipper spirits & informed you with great historical facts all across the countryside (while keeping you on time). I would absolutely recommend either tour guides John or Andrew anytime.

All Railtours Guides were knowledgable & shared helpful personal stories. It is very evident they are passionate about their country and its history. This being our first time in Ireland, I highly recommend this activity packed tour. Not only did I leave feeling that I saw the "sights" but I left feeling an immersion in the culture. Hard to pick a favorite but all of the cliffs, Aran Islands ferry tour, Celtic Steps show and Belfast provide a glimpse of the diversity. Can't review without thanking our First rate #1 Guide "Brian" - how does one person know so much? And .... something I never would have found on my own > Maybe MY FAVORITE > Shepherd Brendan and his sheep... a demonstration of the trained Boarder Collies & beauty of the farm. Thank you "RailTours" I will recommend this company to everyone. Lastly, they were more than gracious with their scheduling as we changed dates for 2 1/2 years due to COVID restrictions.

This was a wonderful tour. Terrence and Mike were two of our guides who provided site info as well as end of the day activities, in particular, Celtic Dance in Killarney, and restaurants for dinner. The majority of the 6 day tour was spent on tour busses, some of which were tight quarters. The hotel accommodations were great. Two nights in a B&B that was clean, good food and the proprietor washed clothes for us. However, the decor was dated.

80% of the tour was excellent , Bryan, Anthony, Michael were 100%. Sadly on night 5 return to Dublin from Galway was a disaster. We briefly met the guide Brenden , I think was his name, clearly did not have time for our group of 8 that had been together for the 5 days . He was very much involved with a group that he had been travelling with. It was the loudest group I have ever heard on a train, no respect for other guests if fact our tour guide was instigating the rowdiness. We could not hear each other talk, we were tired . We had to move to another car to get some quiet.
At Dublin , I asked if his group was going on next mornings tour to Belfast, and if they were I did not want to go, I was told the it was my problem and he walked away.
I did not go on the Belfast day 6 trip because simply put after 5 amazing days, one quide has left me with no desire to take another RailTours. We came along way and it is very disappointing to leave disappointed after all the lovely things we have done

Our guides were excellent Brian and Paddy. They were very informative. I learned so much about the Irish History.
Pro's: Pro's great way to see most of the country and learn about the history from a professional. Everything was included as far as tickets, hotels and breakfast. I enjoyed being with other travelers and we made lasting friendships.
Cons: We are on a schedule and so could not spend as much time as we wanted at some of the sights and venues. Lunch place was always predetermined so you were stuck going only to their choice. Most places were pretty good by average cost of the meals were 40-50 Euros per couple. It would have been nice to have a day off in the middle to rest a bit.

Overall it was a great way to see the country for the first time.

This trip was over a year in planning due to Covid. Fiona and Mervyn were very helpful as the tours and dates available were constantly changing. We finally were able to book the All Ireland Rail Tour from Dublin and the Two Day trip to Belfast from Dublin. I recommend arriving several days ahead of your scheduled tour to spend time in Dublin and recover from jet lag if you are traveling from the States. All of the guides were very helpful and knowledgeable. Michael was my favorite! The hotels and the food at the various pubs was excellent! What a wonderful way to see as much of Ireland as possible in a limited amount of time.

Dear Sharon, Many thanks for your excellent review. After all the planning and changing with Covid, it is great that you finally made it to Ireland and got to take our All Ireland tour at last. We are really delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time on tour and I will be sure to pass on your kind sentiments to all involved. Hopefully we will see you on tour again! All the best, Jennifer

Excellent service, accommodations & superior tour guides. After several (COVID) postponements and a change in the number and names of people touring, Railtours Ireland was so genuinely helpful. From the office staff to Brian our tour guide, The "All Ireland" tour was just that - culture, coffee, pubs & all the top Bucket List attractions. Clear & concise historical information throughout. Number ONE tour company in Ireland? Probably. You won't be disappointed

There is no better way to see Ireland than by rail. Sit back relaxed and enjoyed the views. The tour guides were just great. Shout out to Brian and John on our six day tour. They couldn't make our trip more enjoyable. Food, hotels and music were great. Nothing negative to see at all. 100 % would do it again.

When my wife and I were leaving Canada for our 6 day tour, we were expecting to see the majority countryside of Ireland from a railcar with all the comforts of stretching, access to food, bathroom and wifi service. Fast travel with direct service from Point A to Point B where available; filling in amenities with bus travel where railcar service was not available. I had inquired whether our tour agenda had a hop on-hop off feature but apparently this was not an option. Fees paid were in line with this agenda.

Unfortunately, we spent the of the time driving past Ireland's tour attractions by bus tour without enjoying the comforts listed above. On the tour, Cobh was a huge disappointment. Thought we were going to be able to walk around as we had heard so much about the community, but the tour agenda was in and out quickly. Travel days were long including the best example was leaving Killarney by mini-bus at 7:00 AM, travelled by bus for almost 2 hours to arrive at Limerick train station to only get on a larger tour bus and travel the Westcoast Trail for driving 7 hours to arrive in Galway, Front line staff, drivers and and subcontract operators were great and no disrespect for their service(s), but the design of the tour was both long days and rushed pace day after day for 6 days. After day 3, a few couples stepped out of our scheduled tour agenda and a small group of us gave direct feedback to the owner operator of the company in the hotel lobby of Galway Hotel about our expectations of a "railtour". Hopefully this feedback makes a difference to future guests of the company. With our "free day" we enjoyed walking the streets of Galway and local attractions rather the fast bus tour pace. Final straw of disappointment was on Day 6 early morning departure travelling to Northern Ireland by rail in the mid-morning and driving past the Titanic Museum where so many southern Irish locals had strongly recommended this attraction. I read our tour materials, thought we were visiting the attraction - and still got it wrong.

There were some positive highlights. Reviewing the Ring of Kerry bus tour, loved the set attraction of working dog shepherd demonstration. Individual tourist stops: Cliffs of Moher were great; Giants Causeway and Bushmills Distillery was great.

In brief, we both hate to travel by bus and selected this tour operator format to specifically avoid this. In reality, we spent the most amount of our time on the bus, driving past attractions with a quick pace at designated stops. Simply - frustrated and disappointed.

In August 2022 - Rail travel fans - not the tour for you.
