About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- V9885FAdenisen0 contributionsBeautiful trips, GREAT toursWe took two day trips with Martin of Rabbies, one to the Ring of Kerry and one to Dingle. We were sad to leave the beautiful areas we visited and were specially sad to leave Martin! He was informative, entertaining, and so responsive to the needs of the people in the group.Written 27 October 2024
- DianaE17250 contributionsUnforgettable tourOur guide Rob made this tour an unforgettable one, impressing us with the breadth of his knowledge about Irish history, his Irish sense of humor, as well as his driving skills. We enjoyed staying in Kinsale and Waterford…Kinsale was a favorite because of its fun vibe and breadth of restaurants. Rabbies did a great job choosing hotels for us. We left the tour feeling we had a better grasp of Irish history over the centuries, as well as greater understanding of how a distillery makes whiskey! We will definitely use Rabbie’s in the future.Written 19 October 2024
- HiddenJens0 contributionsAggressive, Dangerous DriverDidn't do any tour with Rabbi but we were very unlucky today on Slea Head, Dingle to have met the most aggressive, rude driver shouting at us to reverse back as we were going in the wrong direction. We WERE NOT!! MY partner and two tourists behind us were run off the road by this lunatic. During high season, vehicles are asked to go clockwise in one direction but this goes back to 2 way traffic now. I telephoned Rabbi in Edingburgh to be told the drivers are through its Irish Partner, Killarney. Unfortunately, the defence shutters came down during my conversation with Rose Travel however he did say he would review the footage. This behaviour, this driver is an insult to the people of the Dingle Peninsula.Written 1 October 2024
- CareyF_130 contributionsMagnificent scenery, villages and exceptional guideWe had a wonderful time, learned a lot, and saw gorgeous scenery every day. This tour is the perfect way to spend time in some of the most beautiful towns in Northern Ireland and the northwest of Ireland, including Derry, Donegal, Westport and Clifden. We were on the beautiful coast much of the time and walked on several beaches. We enjoyed a lot of traditional music in Donegal and Westport. Our guide/driver, Mark Ryan, was amazing, smart and very funny. I wish he could publish his 5 day “talks” so I could relive all his great information and funny comments and jokes. He kept us laughing!Written 26 September 2024
- KarenF4660 contributionsExcellent company - but we concluded we are not bus tours type typesOverall it was a decent tour. The first 5 days were great - good driver, funny stories. But then for days 5-7, we had to switch to a new group and change busses. It was miserable. The bus was too hot and because everyone had their seats, the newcomers got the worst. We were packed like sardines. The driver was nice and tried to accommodate. They did too much. It was NOT relaxing. We liked the idea of a small group that got to know each other and stayed consistent. The company did a great job in selecting B&Bs. This trip convinced us we are not the bus tours type. We need a rental car and our own pace.Written 24 September 2024
- peloha140 contributionsTravel with RabbiesI am from New Zealand. Two years ago I toured with Rabbies from Dublin around to Belfast down south & back to Dublin. Best Tour driver ever Gabriel. Accommodation absolutely fantastic. This is my 3rd tour with Rabbies, another year I did Cornwall & Devon . Then Cotswold. I tell everyone I meet back home only tour with Rabbies, throughout England & Ireland. Magnificent join them Glenys Kearns. 2022Written 12 August 2024
- urbaine1830 contributionsA great overview of EnglandIt was my first trip to England and this tour gave me a great overview of that country. The cities we visited, the little country roads we took, the photo stops, were all well chosen and it was beauty all the way ! The two bed and breakfast (I had chosen that option, hotels available also) were very nice as well. Our guide John introduced us efficiently to the places we were about to visit and took care of everybody. The tour was very well organized and pleasant.Written 29 July 2024
- Shannon C0 contributionsGreat, if a bit “unscheduled”I really enjoyed our trip overall but there are some things that definitely need improvement. It felt very “unscheduled” I guess, compared to my Scotland trip I took with Rabbies. Things weren’t booked in advance. Our guide didnt really talk a whole lot about history but rather reputation or gave personal opinions. He felt a bit disjointed. An example: When it came to Blarney, we got there and were told we had an hour in the location. We were then told the line would be 45min to an hour to see the stone, explained the cost “is a bit much for a stone that soldiers used to pee on,” and also that we had to eat lunch…all within that hour. So we didn’t get to see the stone because by the time we ate, we didn’t have time to go. The scenery was still gorgeous and the hotel locations were top notch. I will always recommend this company but maybe this specific tour needs updating.Written 25 July 2024
- Wander1245330 contributionsGreat way to see Ireland. Solo traveller felt isolated.I did the 11 day complete Ireland experience. For the first 5 days there was another solo traveller which was great. Then I was pretty much on my own when not on the tour bus. This was not helped by being allocated different accommodations with different people. I was isolated for most of the 5 final nights. The 3 drivers we had were fantastic good fun and very informative. Accommodations varied from nice hotels to more basic B&B’s. Hosts were very welcoming. I had wanted to tour Ireland for many years and this tour was great.Written 20 July 2024
- johnnJ7942GM0 contributionsAn okay tourWe saw the listed sites with substantial time to explore. The leaders were knowledgable and attempted to Respond to all questions. The one major fault in my view was the failure of the leaders to create any sense of camaraderie in our group. We were housed in different hotels and given little to no direction in finding decent places to eat. I will not go on any future tours with this company.Written 6 July 2024
- OzJ0hn0 contributionsIreland's wild northwestOishin was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who made this tour a memorable one for me. I loved the landscapes of Donegal, especially Slieve League and Glenveagh. Even the Irish weather cooperated for the most part. I organised my own accommodation.Written 16 June 2024

- Tourist354380780620 contributionsPick Vinnie, if available.Vinnie, our tour guide and driver, was outstanding! He went above and beyond to share his Irish heritage and culture with us. It was so appreciated. I can not imagine a better tour. His love of the beauty of Ireland was infectious. My husband, Tim, and I saw things we would never have seen if not for Vinnie's skill as a tour guide. He took us to the most beautiful places like the Copper Coast and Wicklow Mountains. That man has a quick wit and pure knowledge of the best areas for photos. We were amazed at the sights and delighted with the lunch spots. This was truly the highlight of our trip. Thank you Vinnie for sharing such a love of Ireland with us!!! This made our anniversary trip so very memorable!Written 1 June 2024

- MonroverMonroe_NY0 contributionsGreat Experience - from start to finishOur tour guide, Hugh, was fabulous and the tour was as advertised. Hugh also came to the rescue when my husband's phone went missing. We are not usually a group for "tours", but this struck the right balance and it sure beat worrying about driving the unfamiliar roads. Ours was a small group (5 people) and our guide made everyone comfortable. We had 2 nights in Donegal (accommodations arranged by Rabbies). Highlights included Slieve League and Leo's Tavern. I would highly recommend both Hugh and Rabbie's Tours.Written 21 May 2024

It was a beautiful overview of western and Southern Ireland with a small group, and a very knowledgeable guide Matthew. Accommodations selected by Rabbies were very nice. Would appreciate list of local sights (hours) and restaurants for each overnight stop. Matthew and B&B shared thoughts, but list with addresses and Phone #s would be helpful, and easy to share. Mathew did set up reservations for Celtic music and dancing, a show performing while in Killarney—-added bonus.
Although an action packed itinerary, not enough time was allotted at a couple of stops especially Blarney Castle and Gardens—after paying 28 euro there was only time to stand in line for 40 minutes to kiss the stone, leaving no time for gardens or house. We understood many places were quick stops to fit in as much as possible—but the last day seemed even more rushed to return to Dublin 2 hours early (at least the goal).
Unfortunately little or no time available to tour Galway or Killarney (except for dinner) because of full day schedules. If had to do over would consider 6-7 day tour, allotting more time to enjoy stops.

This was my first multiple day organized tour. There were only five in our group which gave us a chance to get to know each other. I would say this is a good tour for older people who have limited mobility or coach potatoes. I personally got frustrated with the long days of driving. Some of the other more mobile people did too. All of the excursions except meals felt short to me. I would have liked more time at the cliff of Moher and Blarney Castle. An option for a beach walk would also be nice. I do realize that longer stops means you would see less of the country. This is just my personal perspective.
Our guide went above and beyond what was expected of him. The other members of our group seemed to love him minus his constant diversions in politics. They even went out to the pub with him at night to eat. My experience was a little different but I should add that I was the only single woman on the tour. The guide kept singling me out to an uncomfortable degree. Everyone started to notice too. He was my mom’s age and after a couple days the constant attention started to make me uncomfortable especially since the feelings clearly weren’t reciprocated. When we parted ways on the last day he asked me for a hug and I didn’t know how to refuse him without being rude. I should have been rude because when he reached in he purposely touched my butt. I was so shocked that it happened that I'm still doubting myself about it. I actually checked my pocket to see if he returned the tip I left him, but there was no money in it.
His behavior is the reason I’m giving the tour 2 stars. Organized tours are supposed to be the safest way to travel as a single female. The only other time I felt harassed while traveling was by guides on a day trip in Guatemala. For this reason I don’t actually recommend organized travel to other solo females and will return to traveling alone in the future. If your are part of a group or a couple then you will probably have a completely different experience from mine as the other four members of my group left very happy. I’ve reached out to Rabbie’s about what happened, but so far I haven’t hear back from them.

We review itineraries each year based on customer feedback, and I will make a note of your thoughts on the stops and timings. It is a challenge to strike that right balance - there is a lot to see and do and we consider that our tours offer an overview of an area on a first visit rather than in-depth explorations. We find that a majority of guests tend to enjoy this, but we appreciate that it is subjective and that some would prefer less stops and more time at each. Thank you for your comments on this and I'm sorry to hear that the tour left you wanting a little more, at times.
Based on your experience with the guide, we have been in touch and arranged a full refund for your booking. As discussed, we have zero tolerance policies on harassment and are extremely sorry that this was your experience. Passengers should absolutely feel safe booking and travelling with us and this is not acceptable. We appreciate you highlighting your experience and giving us the opportunity to investigate and take appropriate action here.

My wife and I had never been on a tour but decided we would give it a try. We could not have been more pleased with the Rabbies tour we were on. With only 9 passengers on board a bus that could hold 18, we were able to quickly enter and exit the bus at every stop. Our driver, Joe O'Connor was a total delight with his love and knowledge of Ireland and teaching us some traditional Irish songs as he drove along the tour routes. Each day was filled with various sights from a chocolate factory, a whiskey distillery, watching a collie dog herd sheep, the Cliffs of Moher, beautiful beaches . landscapes, castles and so much more. Joe engaged everyone on board and encouraged questions and conversations while we were travelling. We were so fortunate that our first tour experience was so terrific. We will definitely tell our friends if they are planning a trip to Ireland to look in to booking a Rabbies tour (with Joe).

My husband and I took the 9 Day All Ireland Explorer tour which combines the Northern Ireland & Atlantic Coast and South West tours. There were 14 people on each segment. Stephanie was the guide for the Northern tour and Hugh for the southern tour. Both were excellent. Other reviews go into detail about the specifics. The small size of the group, the local knowledge of the guides and their commitment to making the trip enjoyable for the group, including willingness to make minor adjustments to the itinerary, made it a really excellent trip. I want to specifically commend Hugh for going above and beyond. In addition to forming a Whats App group for photo and information sharing, after the tour was over, he personally retrieved and shipped to the US a pair of eyeglasses I had left behind. If you go on a trip with a guide like him, you can be confident that things will be well taken care of, even if the unexpected happens, even after the tour is over! Kudos to him and to Rabbies for a wonderful tour!

The tour is exceptional! Shout out to Hugh O Reilly, our tour guide made the trip unforgettable and so special. He knows a lot, if I mean a lot, 'galactic' He's a walking encyclopedia of Irish history, artists, and almost everything we see and visited. I traveled alone and the other 6 people in the tour and Hugh, all of us became family for 5 days. Such a great experience. We were not rushed in all places we needed to go, this is because we tweaked a bit of the itenirary so suffice our stay in one place. Safety of the trip is paramount, the driver needs to take a break every now and then to meet driving hours law of Ireland. Accomodations were also comfortable, hosts are so welcoming and lovely.

I was traveling with two of my sisters and we chose Rabbie's small group tour with some trepidation in spite of the 5 star reviews we’d read. Expectations wildly exceeded. From the moment we gathered in central Dublin, our guide and driver Joe O’Connor made the five days a glorious adventure in the South West of Ireland.
Whether on a tour or on ones own, the scenery and sites would have been marvelous (though it is hard to imagine we could have covered nearly as much on our own during the time). With Joe’s storytelling, clear narration as he drove and passion for Ireland, the tour couldn’t have been better. The days were chock-full yet without a hurried feel and the evenings in Galway (one night) and Killarney (three nights) gave us a chance to experience the vibrancy of each town.

Great way to see Ireland and leave the winding back roads to an experienced guide. I’d looked at staying in Dublin and doing day trips to Dingle Pennisula, Ring of Kerry, etc., until I found Rabbies tours. Enjoyed the option to book your own accommodations and also to eat pretty much when and what you wanted, unlike most small group tours I’ve done where most meals are included. Dan was our driver and taught us so much about Ireland’s history and culture during the rides. He also took us places the big buses couldn’t go, and clearly knew the locations where we traveled.

We were recently in Ireland for a conference and decided to make a vacation out of it choosing to do a Rabbie's 5 day tour. Rabbie's came highly recommend by a friend. The trip was amazing, but the customer service from this organization was hands down the best! They were so responsive to all inquiries that I felt like I was their only customer. If the opportunity presents itself I would definitely use this tour company again without hesitation.

We just completed our 5-day tour. This was our first trip to Ireland, plus our first trip using a tour group. Our driver and guide, Hugh O'Reilly, was a superb driver (especially on those winding roads along the Atlantic!), but an even better guide. Hugh has a vast knowledge of the history of Ireland, and shared many insights as we traveled together. Most of our stops were quite interesting. Hugh also had suggestions for optional activities (a sheep herding demonstration, Celtic Steps show) that improved our trip. We enjoyed our conversations with Hugh, and he was a great storyteller as well. The amazing green hillsides were everything you would expect, but having a terrific guide truly enhanced our trip to Ireland .

The bus driver was nice but was not a tour guide. By the second day we were competing to find who could Google the correct information the fastest. Ire land is not the world's leading oil producer. The prefix Kil or Killy means church not death. 15 til and 15 after are not he same times!

Written 7 October 2019
Rabbie's used a variety of B and Bs and hotels in each town and we did not find out where we were assigned until right before they dropped us off. In Galway we stayed at AshGrove House and in Killarney we were at The Fairview. Other people on the tour were at various other B and Bs and hotels in those towns. Everyone seemed happy with their accomodations.
