    What to Expect
Start your dining experience at Dublin’s Mespil Road by stepping aboard the  Canal Barge MV Cadhla – a barge modeled on a 1920s boat that was used to distribute Guinness around the capital.

Enjoy a selection of drinks from our on board bar (not included in ticket price), or simply take a seat at your table inside the boat’s lower dining saloon as we glide along one of Dublin’s historic waterways. Our welcoming crew will be at your disposal throughout the cruise so sit back and relax as they serve you a hearty Irish meal and look out of the windows to see the city locks and sights along the canal. There is an opportunity to explore the open top deck and watch the Skipper skillfully operate the locks that are over 200 years old.

We enjoyed the Canal Boat Restaurant. The food was good and the service was good, just that the server kept kicking the leg of my chair and that was a bit annoying. But other than that it was good.

Used a living social voucher for 3 course meal, was lovely food was very tasty. The whole experience was very nice, the skipper was William who gave a introduction of all staff. The restaurant itself was very cosy, unfortunately it was raining when we were on it but umbrellas

Food was great, scenery was really fun, the locks were entertaining, topside was the place to be! Wish I would have been told that they squeeze you in like Sardines before we paid. Really cramped, way too cozy. Hardly enough room between the tables to fit and we were physically

Dear H2127EKscottn, Thank you for your review. We are delighted to hear that you really enjoyed the food and scenery on your cruise. We are sorry that you experienced a cosy cruise. We had an extremely busy cruise on that particular night when extra guests in other groups arrived at short notice. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the opening and closing of the 200 year old locks. Thanks again for your feedback and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back on board in the near future. Warm regards, Orla

The food and service were both excellent and it’s a beautiful little boat that actually is very well priced. Definitely go up to the front when they go through the lock and watch them operate using the same techniques as a couple hundred years ago. Only thing just to be aware of

We went on the Canal boat last night as we'd been given a voucher as a gift. The food was tasty enough but certainly not worth €49 per person for a three course meal. The staff seemed friendly enough but a little clueless. There didn't seem to be any system in place. To sum up

Dear 629ingridf, We are delighted you enjoyed the food on board. However we are sorry to hear that you felt the cruise was over-priced. Our ticket price is intended to cover the cost of operating our eco-friendly barge, as well as the three course dinner, which is all freshly prepared on board from the finest locally sourced produce. Our canal barge glides smoothly along the tree lined banks of the Grand Canal, allowing guests to move around on deck to take in the beautiful views. You can also watch our lock keepers operate the centuries old canal locks from the perfect vantage point, before travelling under Georgian bridges through a stunning stretch of the Grand Canal. The experience is thus quite different from a meal in a land-based restaurant and the cost of delivering it is reflected in the ticket price. Thank you for your feedback and for joining us on board. We hope to welcome you on board again in the future. Warm regards, Orla
