Covering the west coast of Ireland from the peninsula’s of the south west all the way up to Connemara, the tour includes the chance to stay in a castle, two nights in Dingle town (as suggested by previous customers) and lots more. The tour is very comprehensive but its not rushed, instead we have added more time in so that we can get right off the beaten track and spend more time off the vehicles exploring.

      Five Fabulous Days in Ireland!
My husband and I fell in love with Ireland last week, and it was largely due to the fabulous Vagabond Tour we took with our excellent guide Tadhg. Our dates lined up perfectly with their 5 Day Edge of the World Tour itinerary, and it included many of the areas on our must-see list. We experienced so much in 5 short days. We enjoyed the breathtaking views (only available in the smaller vehicles they use), castles and abbeys and pub nightlife and live traditional music. We were so pleasantly surprised with the hotels with breakfast included in the very fair price. What put our experience over the top was Tadhg. His easy going and genuinely kind personality was delightful. His knowledge of the areas and driving skills were amazing. We have never taken a group tour before, but these small groups make it very enjoyable. We will not hesitate to use Vagabond Tours again the next time we visit Ireland.

      Most memorable Trip to Ireland!!
We went on an 11 day Driftwood Discover Ireland tour with Vagabond. The trip is simply FANTASTIC and we had a grand time. First of all, our tour guide Alan was just outstanding. He is kind, courteous, caring, and extremely knowledgeable of just about everything in Ireland. I usually get car sick easily, but Alan’s driving is so good and so safe that with all that windy (and scenic) roads in Ireland, I did not get sick at all! Alan took care of us the whole time and he is simply a gem! If you are thinking about a big coach tour in Ireland, think again. Small group tour is the only way to go. Many small and scenic drives simply do not allow big coach bus to enter, and smaller, more family owned hotels cannot accommodate big groups. With Vagabond, we stayed in some of the cutest, most beautiful historic hotels with fabulous food and breakfasts, and experienced the most incredible Irish hospitality. The tour itself was also phenomenal! I can go on and on but the choices of itinerary and arrival to various sites helped us avoid the crowds and we were able to visit some of the least visited areas of Ireland - something I did not expect on a group tour. On our trip, we travelled with only 11 of us altogether, and we have become great friends towards the end of our trip. It was actually more fun to travel with a small group than just travel alone! I recommend vagabond without reservation for anyone considering touring Ireland. They are simply top notch!!

Great memories of a beautiful county!
We took the 7 day Castle and Kingdoms tour with our guide Andrew. The group size was great. The accommodations were all excellent and our guide found alternative things to do when rain was a problem. The itinerary was a variety of places we would never have seen on our own. I was 70 yr old with a 14 yr old grandson. It will be a good memory.

      Super job, Vagabond!
Couldn't have been more impressed. We went to places we would never have found on our own, and loved the balance of nature and town. We loved the hotels and the food stops, too. Our guide, Andrew, was so knowledgeable and fun. He went out of his way to give us a super experience.

      Greatest Irish tour
What a great experience, my first trip to Ireland. From the minute we gathered at the hotel, Darren our guide was simply spectacular. He is so knowledgeable, pleasant just the type of guy you want to be around. The trip was incredible all the sights and places we visited were great. The same has to be said for the accommodations. Our group became close during our voyage, I'm still communicating with a couple of them. I enjoyed the sooo much I'm taking my daughters next Spring. I hope that we can be lucky enough the have Darran as a guide, but if not I'm sure they all have the same qualifications. I couldn't offer a high enough reccomendation they could easily be 10 stars.

      Perfect for a Solo Traveler
This was my first international trip and my first trip going solo - it exceeded my expectations! Everything was perfect! The van was comfortable, spacious, and every seat had a good view. Our tour guide Denise was SO knowledgeable. I wasn't expecting to hear about the history and stories of Ireland during our drive so that was a lovely surprise. The hotels were also great! I don't know why but I wasn't expecting them to be as nice as they were. The only downer was a few excursions had to be canceled due to the rain, but of course that was the weather's fault. I'm already looking at booking my next trip with them!

Vagabond Tours’ 5 Day Vagabond Edge of the World Tour
My wife & I loved & treasure our adventure on the 5 Day Vagabond Edge of the World Tour, which was my first tour experience. We travelled with a great small group, totaling 15 in a comfortable Vaga-Tron 4X4 bus. Our guide & driver was the wonderful, funny & always helpful Brian. He had encyclopedic knowledge of Ireland’s history, anthropology, geography and mythology and fascinating stories about the local communities and colorful characters. He knew the best places to eat, drink and hear music. We set off from Dublin for our first stop - lunch in Galway, where we explored the old city center on foot. Then headed south on the west coast’s Wild Atlantic Way, stopping to explore the limestone landscape and ancient burial stone structures of Burren National Park and the breath-taking views of the Cliffs of Moher. We had a wonderful dinner and stay at the beautiful Armada Hotel in Spanish Point. We continued to travel down the coast to lovely Dingle Peninsula, enjoying tasty sea food, traditional music and hiking the hilly countryside. We explored castles, ancient stone circles and sheep dog herding experiences. Even at home now, I often think of the experiences and adventures we had. So, take a Vagabond Tour, you’ll always treasure it.

The Best of Ireland in Eleven Days
My wife and I took two “adventure” tours with Vagabond in 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We have wanted to return since then but wanted a slightly less active itinerary. The 11 Day Driftwood tour was perfect. Our fabulous guide Denise played several roles as she led our 13 person group on a complete loop around the island: driver, historian, storyteller, meal planner, music critic, photographer, logistics specialist, etc. The weather was pretty uncooperative on several days but Denise found ways to make every day fun and interesting. She also went out of her way to accommodate requests for activities that were not built into the standard tour itinerary. She made every person on the tour feel important. The accommodations on the trip were excellent, as were the meals that were included. Denise provided great recommendations for dining options for those meals that were our responsibility. Finally, between the time we booked the tour and its commencement, Vagabond did a terrific job communicating with us to ensure we were prepared for a great experience. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

We started out as 12 strangers but ended up like family.
Our Driftwood Tour was amazing. Having a small group made the adventure so much more fun. We took the Ancient East Tour that is now called the Southern Tour. Our guide was Andrew. He was very diligent to tend to our needs and show us all the beautiful and historic sites. His wit was contagious. Our group was always laughing and having a great time. Having a smaller vehicle let us explore places that big buses couldn’t reach. One day it rained quite a bit. Our guide was able to pivot and take us to other amazing sites. It was refreshing to sit back and have the tour company take care of all the tours, hotel reservations and set up lunch locations. We also enjoyed a shared photo app that allowed us to share all our photos. My only dilemma is what trip to book with them next.

      A wonderful journey through Ireland
This was our first visit to Ireland and our experience with Vagabond Tours was phenomenal! I want to compliment the organization on their communication. All emails were answered in a very timely manner and a couple of occasions when I did make a telephone call the phones where answered right away and I never had to leave a voicemail. Booking and payment was a breeze. The tour truly met our expectations and was enjoyable throughout. Our guide Denise was wonderful and was treasure trove of knowledge on the history and lore of the country. Her personal stories added to our enjoyment and experience. The drives between the sites and attractions was never excessive and it was great to know and have everything taken care of by Vagabond when we arrived. It was nice to be able to step out of the van enjoy the sights without having to stand in line for tickets. The lodging was fantastic at every stop. I appreciate that we stayed in cozy private inns that truly made us feel welcome and part of the community. When meals were include they were always filling and delicious. In the end, we had a great time and saw more of Ireland than we ever could had we done this by ourselves. If you are thinking of booking a tour like this to Ireland, keep Vagabond/ Driftwood at the top of your list, you won’t be disappointed.

An enjoyable small group tour that included a wide variety of stops
5 Day Vagabond Edge of the World Tour: I had a great time. The only disappointment, probably just for me, was that I didn't get to see the grykes and clints of the Burren. But Shane was a great guide, informative and with his own special sense of humor. He seemed to easily adapt our tour to a change in any situation. One example, the day of the sheep dog trial demonstration and Shamus' (sp?) performance, which was my favorite visit. Being in a small group was a definite plus. If I return to Ireland, I would choose Vagabond again.

      Simply perfect!
We did the 5 day tour but it was not listed as an option on the review list. The tour was wonderful. Our guide Shane Kelly was wonderful, funny, hardworking, and a wealth of knowledge on the history of Ireland. The small group experience was so fun, you get to form relationships with the entire tour group, which makes every adventure more meaningful.

If you are considering a small-group tour of Ireland, look no further.
I had an amazing time. Ireland was such a stunningly beautiful country, with cultural and historical roots that go so much deeper than I ever imagined, and Vagabond Tours was the perfect way to get the experience I wanted. The 7-day world tour was a perfect blend of culture, history, and nature outings. TL;DR Great way to see Ireland for a fantastic price, with small groups and excellent lodgings and guides. I would absolutely recommend this tour company and if I go back to Ireland, I will probably try the Magnetic North tour, since it gets the Northern half of the island that I didn’t get to see on the 7-day World Tour. Itinerary - We left from Dublin and made a clockwise (normally it’s counter-clockwise) circuit of the Southern half of Ireland. You can look online for the exact stops, which include the big names everyone’s heard of, but what I really came to love are the lesser-known stops we made that most tourists probably miss, spots like Kilkee Cliffs, Cahergal stone fort, Annascaul Lake, stone circles and fairy trees, and so much more. I think these side stops probably depend somewhat on the guide and the weather too, so you might see different places on every run. Lodgings (5/5) - So I will say up front that not every hotel was a 5-star luxury suite. Some of the places were a bit more sparse than some people may like (i.e. hot water or heating issues), but every place would make up for it with the great food or fantastic location. From what I understand, Vagabond partners with these hotels in these towns and villages that don’t normally get as much tourist traffic, and do so in a sustainable personal way so that everyone wins: local economy gets a boost, Vagabond (I’m guessing, correct me if I’m wrong) gets some deals and sustainable partnerships that keep guests happy, and we as guests get sweet authentic locations with character and charm. Transportation (4/5) - It was a very large van or a very small bus “suped up” for off-roading (it even has a snorkel). It was a nice size that let us get to places that large coaches can’t go. It was mostly comfortable, though there are some spots right over the axle and the last row of seats that wouldn’t be great. We had a group of 10 that left a couple open spaces for bags and such, but in the summer with a full load, I imagine the drives could get fairly uncomfortable, but it was fine for us in October with a less-than-full group. Guides (5/5) - The tour guides we had were fantastic, wonderful people with whom I felt perfectly comfortable. Due to driving hour limitations, we had Tim for the first part of the trip, who then traded off with Brendan for the 2nd half. Tim is an absolute master of his craft, a charming funny guy who really emphasized the mythology and almost spiritual side of Ireland, and combined that with a deep love for nature that was infectious. Brendan is a bit more subtle, and I was continually amazed at his knowledge of the local area: local heroes, economics, history, politics, all fused with the kind of down-to-earth pragmatism that is near and dear to my heart. I greatly enjoyed our chats in between destinations and admire them both very much. Tour Group (5/5) - Let me preface this by saying I’ve traveled with full-size coach tours before, and it always left a bad taste in my mouth, the cliques and little tribes that form, and an overall sense of estrangement that I personally encountered. With the small size of our group, i really brought all of us together, and everybody got along splendidly. Honestly, the group of people on this tour were all so great, and it’s really thanks to them that a great trip was elevated to an unforgettable one. I give credit to Vagabond as well for how they train their guides to really shepherd the group socially to try and amplify cohesion and bring people out of their shells. It’s subtle and smart business. Cheers to them. Anecdotes - Just a couple little flavor things that I think fly under the radar, things you don’t find on the brochure. The weather was mostly good, but a few days were pretty stormy and even cancelled pretty much all of our water activities. The locals reassured us that we have to look at it positively, that the rain is a very big part of the Irish experience and daily life and we should look at it as adding authenticity to our trip. The rain also presented us some opportunities for crazy experiences, like hiking and getting soaked, and getting to really hear and see stormy seas smashing against the high cliffs at Kilkee or Bray Head. The energy of those places was something I’ve never experienced before, especially as a native of the Rocky Mountains who knows nothing of the sea. Just a quick Tim anecdote, after I came down from kissing the Blarney Stone, Tim gave me this mischievous look and said something like, “Oh yeah I can tell. I see something in your eye there, a sparkle. You must have the gift of gab!” His stories about leprechauns and fairies were very entertaining and enriching, better and older than anything you’d get from J.R.R Tolkien’s world. Very quick, very funny, and such a cool guy. Last one, when we were staying in Dingle, another member of the group and I joined Brendan over in O’Sullivan’s Courthouse Pub, as authentic a pub as you could ever imagine, with a low ceiling, barrel tables scattered around, and a humming mix of patrons. We stayed for some live music by two locals, an unassuming gentleman in a flat cap who was an absolute master on the guitar, and a woman whose beautiful vocals were so lovely that she could spellbind the entire pub, everyone falling silent to listen whether they wanted to or not. I was in awe of them both. I greatly enjoyed Brendan and the other guest’s company. One of the other patrons we were chatting with started buying us rounds, and all in all it ended up as one of my favorite parts of the trip. If you go on this. Tour, make sure you really try and look. For experiences that are uncharted, not found in the brochure. You’ll be glad you did.

Tour guide Shane nailed this trip for us. Vagabond and Shane have obviously spent a lot of time fine tuning the whole experience and I'm at a loss finding any way they could have made it better. Shane let us know what to expect every day, but just enough was left as an awesome surprise. I didn't feel rushed but at the end I was impressed how Shane shepherded us through so many adventures without seeming pushy at all.

We had a minor glitch where another tour company accidentally took one of our groups luggage. Shane communicated with the hotel etc and tracked it down and I don't think we spent more than 30min of time resolving the issue. That might be the day we learned the term, "Fec**n ee**t." (Sorry for profanity, but this is Ireland BTW) I think this was dealt with so well in a large part because of Vagabond and Shane's established relationship with everyone they encounter during these tours. Many times staff members would ask, "Are you with Vagabond? Right this way sir!"

Speaking of things we learned - I brought a travel journal and it is filled with facts, dates, terminology, songs, movies etc. that Shane taught us during our drive time and while touring the many destinations. I recommend this. A small 6" x 4" sketchbook worked perfectly for me.

Everything we did and saw was exactly as advertised in Vagabond's tour description. Boats, Horses, Castles, Views (OMFG the views), Sheepdogs, Music and just a real feel we were getting a solid show around a country by Shane who has not just a pride in all of it, but an obvious grasp of the history from someone who's lived with it his whole life. "Name a ting, I'll tie it back to Ireland," I tink he said.

I'd complain about the back row of the van having 4 seats (vs. 3) and being a little tight compared to the other 10 larger seats but Shane made sure we shared all the seats fairly and we actually ended up having fun with it and created our own "Proclamation" about it.

Thank you for sharing your fantastic experience with us and your guide Shane. We greatly appreciate your feedback and are thrilled to hear that your trip exceeded your expectations. Shane is indeed an invaluable part of our team, and it's clear from your comments that he added a special touch to your journey, making sure you were well-informed while maintaining a perfect balance of surprises. Irish people really know how to use that type of language alright! It is great to know that you enjoyed the bus and you were able to swap around seats. We want the tour to be as comfortable as possible and we are glad Shane found a solution. Thanks again for your wonderful review! We would love to invite you back to Ireland in the future!

Both my wife and I really enjoyed the tour. It was the itinerary and stay that we had been planning to do by ourselves, but with Vagabond, we didn't have to do any of the driving and we recieved history and local attraction information along the way due to our wonderful tour guide/driver Damian. Damian is an absoute gem of a man. Everyday he was chipper and excited about "getting going" because he had things to show us, things to do, places to see! He took us to a beach and taught us the basics of hurling. What a wonderful way to stretch our legs and get out and enjoy a windy Irish beach.
Damian was there for everyone in our tour bus, he took care of everyone's wants and needs to have a complete, wonderful holdiay for each one of us.
I think Damian is the embodiment of everything that Vagabond Tours wants to provide for all of its clients. 10 / 10. Will do again.

Our Irish guide, Shane, spoke very understandable English, and the tour van had a microphone fixed in front of his mouth when driving so that I could understand his narrative very well. I was concerned about that because I am a little hard hearing. Shane did an excellent job communicating, in advance, what to expect, so I felt calm and prepared each step of the way. Shane was also very personable, which set the group at ease and helped group members open up with each other. We became like family in no time. Shane was very knowledgeable of the places we visited and provided liberal historical and cultural context which added to my enjoyment. Shane answered pretty much every question we asked. Scenic Inagh Valley with its heather covered mountains, lakes and sheep dotting the hillside was captivating! At one point in the valley, Shane stopped the van to prevent hitting a lamb at the edge of the road. An adorable moment. The sheep dog demonstration was unforgettable! Learning how the shepherd trains, her dogs with both voice (for close up) and whistle (for far away), signaling was fascinating. Sam (the sheep dog’s) herding skills seemed flawless as he moved a small group of sheep back-and-forth wherever the shepherd signaled. That moment (as we rounded the east edge of little Skellig) when I first saw thousands of Gannets (birds) perched on the south cliffs a little Skellig, and soaring all around me, was breathtaking! Yes, Shane, the almond chocolate croissant at Maison Gourmet Pastry shop in Kenmare was delicious. I am so glad Shane spent some time debriefing with the group on the last day as we headed back to Dublin. Recalling special moments with the group and allowing each of to express some of our favorite parts of the tour was a heartwarming experience. Great idea Shane! Oh, and one more thing; i’ve added three new fun Irish words to my vocabulary. craic (pronounced crack), eejit and paddywhackery Can’t wait to use them at home. I have three suggestions; hand out a written description of activities ahead of time, particularly the day 4 sea activities, to help vagabonds, decide on their activity, require each song request be accompanied by a brief description of why it is special and hand out a highlighted roadmap of the full eight day tour at the beginning of the tour for vagabonds to reference and make notes on.

Thanks so much for your fantastic review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your tour and that driver guide Shane did a great job bringing the group together and answering your questions. He is a super guide, we are very lucky to have such a talented team of driver guides.. Awh, that is so lovely to hear, we are thrilled you experience the magic of the wildlife and gannets in particular at the edge of Little Skellig. The sheepdog demonstration is a highlight with lots of our guests. Shane is a connoisseur of all things pastry and we know he will be thrilled you enjoyed the almond chocolate croissant. We love to hear our guests' feedback just as they return to Dublin. It is particularly insightful for us as we continuously review our tour content.. Thanks also for your 3 suggestions. We are already looking at how we can incorporate those ideas on our tours.

Great tour! My husband and I were placed with a group that consisted of all family members. I am sure the family did not expect two strangers on their vacation, nor did we expect to be the only strangers are someone else' family vacation. It worked out well, however. The family was amazing. They were probably the most inclusive group of people I have met. Do not worry that you will not be able to keep up with the activity level. There is always a way to sit an activity out. Prepare for rain. Have good storm pants etc. Spray boots with waterproofing even if you do not think you need to. My Keen waterproof hiking boots soaked through from the rain. I did not step in a puddle. Bring extra sneakers.

I went on this Wild Rover Tour with the 7 in my family (all 28 years old and older adults) and Danny was our guide. It was by far the best tour I have ever been on. Danny was funny, helpful, and knowledgeable about all the spots and places to go to. Not just the tourist spot, but finding good food off the beaten path, and going to hikes/views that not many had heard of, but were still exceptional. Honestly, the place he found before the Cliffs of Moher was even prettier and totally empty of other tourists. He was able to adjust with weather and still give us full experiences throughout the trip. He also has a really funny sense of humor and it was great to have him keeping it light and fun during the travel from place to place. It was a fantastic trip that we took in memory of my father and I cannot think of a better way to have remembered him or a trip he would have enjoyed more. Thank you all for a great time, especially Danny.

The variety of activities and pace of the trip exceeded my expectations. The Wild Irish Rover is one of the more active trips they have and I feel like we had a great variety of experiences all around the country. The small group made the tour agile and flexible and we were never waiting long for others, like you do on some of the larger tour buses. The smaller group also was more intimate an friendly and I feel like we made true friends by the end of the week.

Our guide, Joe, was simply magnificent. Very knowledgeable about the specific places we visited, the route and about Ireland in general. Joe is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and a very safe driver. Everyone on the bus felt like they were in competent hands with Joe as our guide.

One hundred thousand welcomes is how our Vagabond Tour could be summarized.

This experience, led by Dave, completely surpassed our vacation goals. Dave reviewed our pre-tour surveys, researched along route and adapted the tour to meet traveller requests. In his conversations and interactions, he was a leader, teacher and companion. There were many moments of bliss, introspection and gratitude that re-connected us with our Irish roots and gave us a better understanding of our Irish-Canadian culture.

One hundred thousand thank yous to the Vagabond Team, Dave and our tourmates.

This trip was truly a trip of a lifetime. The small group made it so easy getting on and off the van in a timely manner. Our tour guide Brian was the greatest. Keeping our adventure interesting, fun, and telling so much of the history of each place we stopped. From the hikes up steep terrain to walking on the beaches, each day was a blast. Brian was so thoughtful and celebrated several birthdays (mine included) with a cake and candles. We also celebrated an anniversary with bubbly and a cake after four wheeling to the top of a hill to enjoy the view. Our nightly accommodation couldn't be better. Staying in small towns and fishing villages let us get a real feel for the Irish way of life. Loved ever minute of the tour!!

Visiting Ireland was a bucket list trip for me so my husband and I were beyond excited to finally arrive in Dublin and begin our tour. Our guide Shane was outstanding! His desire to provide an informative, fun and unique experience of his beloved homeland was
evidenced by the vast amount of knowledge he shared regarding the history, culture and geography of the various breathtaking landscapes. The activities for our tour were as adventurous or relaxing as each person desired. Our group biked, hiked, rowed, kayaked, enjoyed horseback riding on the beach and lovely harbor boat rides! Shane took us to a pitch and introduced the sports of hurling and Gaelic football.
The accommodations were great, including many delicious meals! We highly recommend Vagabond as your tour company and we can not say enough about our guide Shane! He
shared the heart and soul of Ireland in an conscientious and entertaining manner. We felt incredibly fortunate to have Shane as our companion and guide! We choose the 8 Day Wild Irish Rover Tour.

Vagabond Tours was a perfect fit for our first family mulit-day trip. Our framily (friends & family) unit of 8 was the perfect size for the Vagabond van.
    Best things about tour:
    1. From the beginning planning to the time we left the US, Dee was with us every.step.of the way. She was amazingly responsive and helpful. It was so fabulous to have a single contact person. Vagabond seems to have "thought of everything" and Dee patiently sent me link after link to answer all my questions and concerns.
    2. At Dee's suggestion we spent a few days in Dublin before the tour started. We stayed at the tour hotel (not the cheapest or most central btw, but the most convenient for us since we didnt want to hotel hop). Got the GoCity card and saw our top choices. You do need to plan ahead though.
    3. Tour hotels were all clean and the employees very kind and helpful.
    4. Tour guides were incredible ! Shane and Phillip were our "Vagaguides" and they went over and above to fill our trip with Irish history, culture and food experiences (chicken fillet rolls, 99s, Taytos and Dairymilk were all new to us !) Shane even had us try hurling and Irish football one afternoon and Phillip drove us onto the beach so we could spend more.time playing in the waves, climbing the rocks and soaking in the beautiful Irish.coast. Bike tour with Martin and in Killarnie Park, sheep dog exhibition by Bridgid and Seamus, Castle.tour, horse backriding, every day was FILLED.with more adventures and fun.

Things to consider if you go - pack as light as you can ! Almost everyday is a different hotel and you will be handling your own luggage.
Take more euros than you think you'll need ! I got a better exchange rate from my bank before I left than I did at the bank atm in ireland. The $100 euros a day, per.person, estimate.that Vagabond suggests is bare minimum if you want to eat full meals and pick up a few souvenirs.
We.had a great time and highly recommend Vagabond - especially.if you've not been to Ireland before. It was fabulous to leave the planning, driving and hotel reservations to appears to have great relationahips with wonderful service providers.
