What a great experience! I was looking for easy day trips out of Dublin as I was hesitant to attempt to drive with my kids and mother who love to distract me and I was glad to find an opportunity that took us out into the countryside where we combined horse riding with a lovely jaunt into the Wicklow area for some wonderful learning about the bogs from our guide Richard. We even got some looks into the set for Vikings (and the upcoming Valhalla).

We then were brought to Glendalough and it did not disappoint as a picturesque area with its 2 lochs and its monastic ruins.

I will mention that the horse riding adventure was excellent but there was a small hiccup in that apparently the trail riding had an age minimum of 14. I don’t recall seeing that information when I booked and it did require me to input the ages as well as the height and weight of all participants but the system did not flag my group for having details that “broke the rules”. That being said the stables went above and beyond to ensure my kids still had a blast and to cement their initial love of horse riding that they found earlier this summer at their local equestrian summer camp.

As for me and my 76 y/o mother who had no experience whatsoever? No problem! The guides and the horses were a breeze and a joy to ride and after a brief instructional period we were able to follow along the trails like we were established riders! (All credit goes to my horse Tom and the stable).

The only other tip would be that if you are traveling as a group speak up when they first assign horses as they tend to like to ride together in a specific order. It did not bother me at all but I know the rider on our lead horse did feel like he was separated from his group during the ride as my group separated him from his group.

Overall a fantastic and stress free experience!

We had an amazing time on this tour! Our tour guide, Johnny, was the best! He had so many great historical facts and funny stories about the area as we drove to each site. We really enjoyed the horseback riding through the forest and every stop on the itinerary. The monastery was one of our favorite things we saw. We had decided to do this tour last minute on the final day of our Ireland trip, and it turned out to be one of our favorite days out of our whole vacation!

This tour was awesome. The amount of people on the tour was great. Just enough people where it doesn't feel congested. Johnny was a great tour guide. He kept us entertained, educated but didn't inundate you with historical facts and figures.

Most importantly, the horses were amazing, funny and fitting for all riders. All staff for the riding were friendly, funny and filled with equestrian expertise. The trails were majestic. I have added respect for horses and riders alike.

Each stop was filled with the right amount of time for pictures, food etc. Book the tour, it's worth it.

I was excited at the opportunity to do a trail ride and see some sights.
But throughout the day all the activities seemed a little ‘fly by the seat of your pants’.
The horse ride was great once it started but it ran late because there was a kids lesson finished when the trail ride was starting. Organisers were running around looking very disorganised and talking over each other. It took forever to organise my horse and I was left standing about while everyone else got mounted and when we started I had to listen to one guide yell at the other that they had to ‘make up 10 minutes’. Like it was the fault of those riding. Surely they knew who was coming and how many?
The sight seeing tour by bus was also rushed. Sites were great but the guide/driver kept pushing us to hurry or wait till the next stop to use a bathroom for instance but would the stand for 10-15 minutes at a time telling us about a movie we should watch of a conversation he had with his wife about an actor. And god forbid we ask him to stop to take a photo of a pretty scene.

The price tag may look a little off-putting for young/solo travelers, but the tour was well worth the price. The horseback riding was great for a complete beginners, the horses are well-trained and the guides were incredibly helpful and accommodating for the riders. The tour guide, Richard, was awesome and very knowledgeable. Better than anything were the sights as you're going through the Wicklow mountains and around Glendalough! I can't recommend enough!

Nice tour and as pictured; the guide was friendly, informative, and stayed on the listed itinerary. If horse riding I recommend wearing your own boots with a small heel. Just make sure they are easy to clean as the stable grounds can get muddy.

Gillian was a great, careful driver and was very informative with both interesting facts about the area and funny stories as well. The riding was a blast. The staff excellent at taking time to assess riders capabilities and making sure they all had a wonderful ride. Horses were well taken care of, seemed happy, and were responsive. The drive through Wicklow was cool and the walk through Glendalough and the Monastic ruins were fabulous. All in all a great day out of the city.

With only a few days in Ireland, we were looking for a day tour outside of Dublin that wouldn't have us sitting on the bus for hours. We love small villages, manor houses and beautiful gardens: a bit of easy adventure outside the usual city tourism! We got what we wanted with Matt!
He was our guide and did not disappoint: we toured the Wicklow Mountains, Glendalough and Powerscourt estate (we did not choose the horseriding option and toured the Powerscourt gardens instead - a good walk on its own!). We enjoyed his stories about the history of Ireland and indeed the world - certainly had us looking things up after the tour!! ;-)
Definitely recommended!

I had a great time on my day trip into the mountains and horseback riding. We rode through a forested area and looked out over the rolling hills. It was an enjoyable way to see the countryside. Our guide picked us back up and gave us background into the 1798 uprising and the guerrilla warfare that took place in the area for the next 20 years. He explained to us about the ecological importance of the peat bogs were were driving past and we saw Guinness Lake and the Glendalough monastery. It started raining on us pretty heavily at the end, but it was a nice time, I learned a lot and since most of our trip was city bound, it was nice to be in the country.

I absolutely loved everything about this trip! Our tour guide, Richard, was so sweet and funny and told us some really fascinating facts as we drove around! The horse back riding part was by far the best part of this whole trip! It a really beautiful trail through some fields and forests and my horse was so lovely! And this was the best trail riding experience I’ve ever had because they cared if you had riding experience and carefully selected your horse based on your experience. I have been riding most of my life so for a little bit on the trail, one trail guide and I split up from the group and cantered up and down a path. It was truly the best experience I’ve ever had! This was such a wonderful little trip and I highly recommend it!
