Recommend trip to Donegal at the Central Hotel.
Great trip to Donegal . Lovely host called Diane, so helpful and friendly. Stayed at Central Hotel. Great food and lovely staff, only one thing on day of leaving there was a problem with fire alarm going off but other than that no complaints. Great crowd off people on the bus and made lots of friends. Some lovely day trips and Diane open to requests from guests to see some places to suit everyone, so helpful. Boat trips were great, we were lucky with the weather it was brilliant. Some great local Irish pubs recommend you try them. If I could make a suggestion, possibly change trip to Letterkenny as not really anything to see there but all others were great places to visit Particularly enjoyed the water bus trips can recommend. Thank you Glenton for a lovely holiday. Ellen x

        Amazing and Unforgettable trip
Amazing trip to Ireland for 9 days which was a fantastic and an amazing adventure. Thanks to our amazing local tour guide Marcus ,who showed us beautiful and unique sites: from breathtaking views to kayaking activity, Whiskey distillery, Filming locations from “Game of Thrones”, Irish folklore and history and local music and an amazing hospitality at Marcus house and his family, which was unforgettable evening. Thank you Marcus for being so kind, professional, generous and always with a smile, which made our trip to an amazing and unforgettable adventure. Very recommended.

        An extraordinary experience
I went on a trip to Ireland for about 9 days in September-October 2019 as part of a group of young travelers. Marcus was our local guide who was amazing, cordial, with good energies. The favorite part I had on the trip was hearing the local songs that Marcus sang to us that made me very happy, and visiting his backyard where we got food that his family and friend specially prepared for us, beers, soft drinks, desserts and lots and lots of distress! He and his family at the end of the meal played and sang us traditional local songs from Ireland, and international songs we are all familiar with and it was fun to sing together and feel a sense of home and brotherhood. The hospitality in the backyard added a lot to the rest of the trip and it was magical and special. The trip was definitely an extraordinary experience thanks to Marcus, and the staff! I had a lot of fun! Highly recommend Marcus!

        Much more than a tour
I am very happy after having spent 3 days with my daughter, guided by Marcus to get in touch with the very heart of Ireland. Always punctual and well organized with a relaxing and caring feeling. I enjoyed activities, stayed in b&b, and that was ideal to experience the lifestyle of a genuine Irish family in a beautiful house in the country. More than just touring, it was meeting people, feeling hospitality, hearing stories and history of Ireland, and also exchanging facts from my home country. I reccomend it to spend three valuable days with your family.

        Very interesting and enjoyable trip
Our day trip to hike near Carlingford was fun, beautiful scenery, interesting, educational, and more! Marcus was friendly, knowledgeable, flexible, and easy to be with. We really appreciated being picked up in Dublin at our Airbnb. We enjoyed all aspects of the day, from the drive north, to the hike with amazing views of the hills and mountains and Irish Sea and villages and sheep, to seeing an abandoned farmstead from the 1800's, to our delicious lunch at a garden center cafe, to a visit to an old monastery, ending with singing and music at a pub in a small town. It was a perfect way to get out into the country of Ireland while also learning about the history of the area. We have already recommended him to the owner of our Airbnb in Dublin! If we make it to Ireland again, we will definitely be taking one of his trips again!

Best Tour in Ireland by FAR!!!
My daughter and I found Rural Adventures on this website and booked a tour for rock climbing. My daughter is a competitive climber and I have never climbed before and had a fear of heights. Well I can't say enough about Marcus! I was able to repel and climb a bit and my daughter was challenged at her level. I felt so proud! It was great to be able to meet both of our needs. Marcus knew his history of the area and his musical talent is heartfelt. The sounds of beautiful Irish music finished our day and made this day the most memorable of our entire trip. I will be back to do whatever tours Rural Adventures offers- I know it will be a great one!! Don't miss out!

        Great Craic!
My partner and I booked a 3 day, 2 night, trip with Marcus. From the moment we got picked up, to the moment we left everything was incredible! We spent our first day having a little wander around Dublin as we had tailored our tour a little differently, Marcus had loads of history and facts about the city to tell us, which was great. We also went out to Loughcrew, and visited an amazing cairn, with what we expect had beautiful views....luckily we're from Scotland so the Irish weather didn't put us down haha. (The weather improved greatly on our second and third day though, beautiful sunshine!) We did our climbing, abseiling and kayaking on our second day and had so much fun! Marcus is very well trained and so trustworthy, for anyone out there who's a bit nervy haha. I won't go into too much detail about where we went and how the activities went, but everything was fantastic. As it was our trip Marcus never rushed us in or out of things, we just went at our own pace and still managed to cram everything into our short time. He definitely ensures you get the best out of your time there though! Always recommending things to us and giving us the choice of where we wanted to go. Along with Marcus' great hospitality came his wife, Julie, we stayed with them for the two nights, and we really got to know them. Their house is beautiful, and hospitality is something to be desired! Our room was very homely and comfortable. We had our own bathroom to use and a little conservatory if we wanted space. If you stay with them on your tour, please ask about their wedding as the story is amazing! We were also very pleased to meet his adorable daughter, whom we were lucky to make friends with haha! I've so much more to say, but I will finish with Marcus' music skills, he is an extremely talented musician, and hopefully you get the chance to hear him play his guitar and sing, or the harmonica too! All in all we had an absolutely fantastic time, the only thimg we would change is that we would have stayed longer. 110% will be back!

        Donegal - hiking and climbing
We booked the trip to Donegal and it was a very good experience. For different reasons we were only 3 of us, Marcus and Gary (guides). Everything turned out like if we had been friends for a long time and we had a very good time. Marcus is a very professional person, with wide experience and is always looking for the best experience for the people he guides so he can think of different alternatives depending on the circumstances (in our case was going to rain so we had to rearrange the activities). I would recommend with no doubt Rural Adventure and I am certain we will book it again with them. Thank you very much for the experience, the knowledge and the craic. On the road again. José.

Day kayak trek in Ireland's Ancient East: truly the highlight of our trip to Ireland!
Based on the description of the kayak trek on the Rural Adventure website, I was pretty sure that the day would be my favorite memory of our family trip to Ireland. I was wrong--Marcus and his tour EXCEEDED my expectations! My husband, 12-year-old son, and I had a chilly but lovely day to kayak in the stunningly beautiful County Cavan countryside out to the ruin Clough Oughter Castle, accessible only by canoe or kayak. We then had a delightful tea on the grounds. Marcus was such a fun host. He told us about the history of the area and so many fascinating stories. We then headed to Loughcrew, where we had a delicious lunch and hiked up Carn Bane East--a striking hillside with so much history and a wonderful 360 view of the Irish countryside for miles. We topped off the day with a glass of Guinness in The Seven Wonders Bar with the charming barkeep Anita and enjoyed Marcus playing his guitar and singing Irish ballads. He's such a talented singer, and everyone in the pub had fun singing along with the refrains. I'm sharing my experience with all of my friends who might be going to Ireland because our family had such a fabulous experience off the typical track. Thank you, Marcus and Rural Adventures! Can't wait to book another trek when we return to Ireland!

        Trip Through History
I signed up to go kayaking I found out it takes at least minimum of four and no one had signed up so far. While I was at the pick up point I saw that there was no one else was there. I was worried that the kayaking trip was canceled and since I had no access to the internet I couldn't check my e-mail to see if it was. When the guide showed up I felt great that the trip was still on, I was so looking forward to going on this trip. When he told me that he had four people, but three canceled and that he was still going to take me on it; I was impressed. Had to admire someone who. even when they don't have their minimum required people for the trip, but kept his appoint anyways was incredibly awesome. Marcus Magee, of Rural Adventure.ie, was my guide and we hit it off quite well on the trip up to where we were going kayaking, he was very easy going person. Marcus made sure that I was well fitted for the right kayak and gave me safety tips about going out on the water in a kayak; he was quite knowledgeable. Out on the water we had a great time. Marcus told me a little history about where we were and sang a couple Irish tunes. Seeing the country side from the waters we were paddling was incredible and so peaceful. We paddled up to and stopped for a break on an small island where there was ruins of a, equally small castle. back in the day, the British army lead by Cromwell, had bombed, with his canons from shore. Cromwell, hopefully I spelt his name right, had destroyed many castles and Abbies in Ireland. To see a bombed out castle was amazing in one sense and sad in another. This was a part of history; I was there and I got there by water in a kayak. After we left Cavan Canoe .Centre, where we went kayaking, we went to an old style pub, Across from the pub was an Abby in ruins, with grave sights scattered throughout the grounds. Marcus tells me that vikings destroyed this Abby. It was fun and exciting to take a trip through history and the Irish country side by kayak with a great guide. Next year I think I'll go hiking to check out the Irish country side in another way and have Marcus as my guide, that would be totally awesome. Gary Dow from Prince George, B.C, Canada.

        Kayaking Trip
We went on a family Kayaking trip with Marcus in Co. Cavan. He is an excellent guide, very professional with good humour. He is brilliant with kids and makes things interesting for them while making sure they all feel comfortable and safe. He knew so much about the history of the area we were kayaking on which was very informative. I would highly recommend an adventure with Marcus, we can't wait to go again!!

Two fabulous days in and around Galway, the Cliffs of Moher and an afternoon in the pubs of Doolin. Despite the fact that some of their tours are quite challenging athletically, we are a wee bit older and Marcus let us set a pace that worked for us. I love Trad Irish music and he took us to the best spots and of course is a great singer and storyteller in his own right.

Even if I had done nothing else in Ireland, this tour would have made my visit worth it!
My group spent two weeks in Ireland, and we took a tour with Rural Adventure Tours on our last day.

Our tour guide (Marcus) took us kayaking to a castle, hiking to a druidic religious site, to a cafe with stellar food, and to a fun, local bar where he played guitar and we sang our hearts out.
      Marcus was phenomenal!
He was friendly, funny, and due to his thorough knowledge of history, we couldn't think up a question that he couldn't answer! He also has some really awesome stories to share! He told us about Irish mythology, shared stories of his travels, and even taught us about Irish history (which they don't teach in American schools.)
He's such a smart guy-- super fun to be around!

Marcus took awesome pictures of our whole adventure, so we never even had to think about our phones! But honestly, pictures almost feel unnecessary because the day was unforgettable.

This tour would be good for all ages! The physical activities were challenging enough, but not so challenging that you couldn't bring your kids.

Our group also had a lot of dietary restrictions, but Marcus made sure everyone was accommodated.

If you have any doubts about taking this tour, just call the tour service. Everyone is so friendly and they will help you with whatever you need.

My family and I chose the day tour option of kayaking out to the Cloughoughter Castle. This was such a beautiful and exciting new experience, we couldn't have hoped for more! It was very doable for all ages and all skill levels, so it adds just the right amount of adventure for your family's needs.

The Rural Adventures tour company went above and beyond to make sure that my family had everything we needed: quick email responses, picked us up right at our hotel, snacks and comfortable travel, and nearly 100 complementary pictures taken during the day for us to keep. Marcus and his brother Ray are definitely the perfect people for the job- super nice and accommodating as well as fun, talented, and knowledgable. After our tour, Julie so kindly emailed us suggestions for other ways to explore Ireland during our time on vacation. All-around, it was perfectly organized and purely stress-free fun! Highly recommend, and we will be returning to Ireland to try another tour from them! (:

I have to say this tour was well worth it! Our tour guide was Marcos and he was great! We got offered to get picked up from our location which was really convenient. As soon as he pulled up his energy was so joyful we felt nothing but good vibes! We started of kayaking to a little island with a small castle. The views on the way there were unbelievable. I felt like I was in a movie. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The little island is a must see for sure. We then kayaked back and went on a little short hike we we got to see some really cool stuff... and the views! 🙌 We stopped at a place to eat and everyone loved the food. The restaurant was so cute with a little house to the left where you can see how they used to live. Last we stopped at a local pub where we had a great time. Marcos sang and played the guitar :). We also met a few other locals who were really welcoming. This tour is a must!!! Oh and one more thing, I was doubting whether or not my 8 year old son was going to enjoy it and he loved it!!!

We've traveled in Ireland for 9 days with the Marcus Magee as our local guide.
Marcus is an amazing guy with good energy, big smile and always willing to help.
One of our best moments of the trip was the local evening at his House - his hospitality was amazing and it was a great pleasure to talk, eat and sing with his family.
He's an excellent singer & guitar player and will teach you the best of the Irish Folklor.
On one of the days we did kayaking and it was so much fun! - He is very professional, skillful and trustworthy.
Marcus is full of knowledge and experience to make your trip the perfect experience in Ireland.
Definitely made me want to come back to Ireland and I would highly recommend Marcus Magee and Rural Adventure.
      Thank you Marcus :)

Over the summer I organised a stag in Cavan and found Marcus from Rural Adventures, and boy what a gem! We wanted something different and he did not disappoint. He was so professional and attentive. We were brought on an amazing abseiling afternoon in the most idyllic setting that was both fun yet sufficiently challenging for our level (inexperienced). His local knowledge is exceptional and he is a master at his craft. It was perfect for the lads and they are still talking about it to this day. Since the stag loves a good ould trad session I asked Marcus (by pure chance) if he could recommend a quiet pub where the pints were good and we could have a sing song after the activity, and again he delivered. Thinking I was going to have a headache finding musicians, Marcus mentioned that he played guitar, sang and would be happy to oblige. Skeptical at first thinking this was all too god to be true, I took a gamble and went with it. Marcus rocked the pub playing guitar&harmonica and covered all genres of music. That set the tone for the rest of the weekend. He is an amazingly talented musician yet very modest and a really solid lad. I can honestly say if I was to organise an activity/outing /sing song or any kind of adventure with friends I would look no further than Marcus and Rural Adventures. We had a ball! Marcus&co thanks again for a superb weekend...fantastic, amazing, professional and fun. Top Marks!

Hi James, thanks a million for your great review. I am totally humbled by this and so happy ye had a great time. I really enjoyed the day with you guys and loved the sing song after. I think it was ye that rocked the pub with all the tunes ye knew and it was great to hear so many fantastic Dublin songs in Cavan belted out by ye lads and I loved accompanying ye on them. The doors are always opened if ye are back down this neck of the woods again, Slan agus go raibh maith agat, Marcus
