- 529ering0 contributionsTime of my life!My family took a trip around Ireland through Overland... We celebrated our dad's 82nd birthday and traced his roots back to his ancestors original hometown. It was the time of our life! David was our tour driver and absolutely wonderful, accommodating and made sure to make it a great time for us. Thank you for making it such a special time.Written 21 November 2024
- T7332CXsharonf0 contributionsPrivate 5 day tour with Overland IrelandWe just got back from an amazing trip to Ireland. Dave from Overland Tours was wonderful. We started in Dublin and proceeded to Killarney, Dingle, Doolin, and ended in Galway. This was a private arranged tour. We have been talking about how Overland made our trip. Between the driving, checking us into hotels that were booked thru Overland and all the little tours within the days we visited we learned so much. We would never have had the same experience if we had tried to do this on our own. Thanks Dave - you made our trip very memorable!!Written 14 November 2024
- rickmJ9605YO0 contributionsEpic and Magical! This was a bucket list trip of a life time. Thank you very much Overland Ireland for accomidating a wee small group, 3 of us and the greatest bus driver and tour guide in the world Miss Bre (Breda). She went out of her way to show us more than we expected and explained so many stops, vistas and towns to us and also participated in walking tours with us. Ireland is a beautiful Island filled with magic and we felt it. The castles, the mountains and water ways. The towns we stayed in the libations and food we partook in, the music all of it breath taking. My wife and I enjoyed the trip immensley and would do it all over again! Thank you Miss Bre!!!!!Written 31 October 2024
- judy7410 contributionsExcellent introduction to south west IrelandExcellent well organised trip. I travelled with my husband Jim. Small interesting group a young couple from Detroit, a mother and daughter from Minnesota and a couple from Germany but it was our driver/guide Jack who made it so special for us all accommodating everyones wishes and interests.Written 26 October 2024
- W7190OUrachaelm0 contributionsOctober 2024Really amazing experience! I was able to visit areas of Ireland off the beaten path and it wasn’t difficult or tiring . Cathal is a really knowledgeable guide and an exceptional person. I would highly recommend Overland Ireland to anyone thinking of traveling to Ireland. It was the perfect mix of scenic beauty, culture, history and adventure. Book any tour. You will not be disappointed!Written 25 October 2024
- I5713TNbethd0 contributionsPerfect trip, Perfect Guide, Perfect Group. Win Win WinI chose this particular tour because I was searching for an Ireland tour that was in our timeline, would work for my senior parents, and take the "what to do and how to get there" decisions off of my shoulders. This was PERFECT for at least 3 reasons: 1) Itinerary: This tour allowed us to see more of the Southern half of Ireland than we would ever have conquered on our own, allowing my parents to "opt out" and rest when needed while keeping the rest of the group on the move. The lodging choices were outstanding, the integrated tours and stops were idyllic, and Mark's ability to make everything magically work was a Godsend. 2) Small Group: Our small group was a blast! Thank you to each of you for embracing my parents, including them in the fun, and always being willing to try for one more bit of evening entertainment. It was lovely to travel with a group of people who all got along so beautifully. I will miss you all. 3) MARK! We've done our fair share of guided tours and the tour guide does make or break the trip. Mark was AMAZING! Don't let his calm demeaner fool you, he's full of knowledge, whit, and finesse. He provided answers to every random question, made impossible dinner reservations magically happen, manipulated the weather more than one would have thought possible (though apparently no one was going to best Storm Ashley), and became our friend. He also ensured that we had amazing tour guides for walking tours, castle tours, all the tours. He managed the weather and adapted more than one would have thought possible, and he did it all with a smile and a calm that made this trip so easy to enjoy. Thank you Mark.Written 24 October 2024
- TheDoranGallaghers0 contributionsWonderful Ireland AdventureWe recently returned from 2 weeks in Ireland - the first week we went on the Overland 7 Day Great Atlantic Adventure Tour. Our tour guide, Mark, was the best - warm, fun, flexible and an excellent human. He was able to make sure our diverse group of 15 (from 8 years old to retired folks; from Germany to New Zealand, Australia and all corners of the U.S.) was engaged, comfortable, and had everything we needed to fully enjoy the beauty and charm of this enchanting island. Traveling with and getting to know the group (including Mark!) was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you for a wonderful experienceWritten 20 October 2024
- mjcdlc0 contributionsPerfect way to see Ireland and make new friends too! What a fabulous adventure. Dave our driver/guide was wonderful and very professional. I was amazed at how accurate he was keeping us on schedule so we could see so much of beautiful Ireland! My only concern when booking was not knowing anyone and how we’d all get along. That thought was quickly put to rest when Dave made reservations for dinner with us all. What a great way to get to know one another! Memorable trip with 14 new friends! Highly recommend Overland and Dave!Written 19 October 2024
- P395EXkimd0 contributionsWonderful tour, top-notch tour guide Jack Healy! Our 5-day tour with Jack Healy was fantastic! Jack really knows the small town and back roads, and we had experiences we’d have not gotten elsewhere. Jack was always checking weather and making arrangements as we went to make sure we had the best experience possible. When several of our group didn’t want to go biking in the rain, Jack arranged for a horse and carriage ride in Killarney National Park instead. At the Cliffs of Moher, he arranged for us to ride in the Doolin Ferry for an additional, spectacular view of the cliffs from the water. Jack is also a great wealth of knowledge of history, as well as a captivating storyteller. Our tour itinerary was greatly enhanced by having Jack as our guide. I’d travel with him again anytime!Written 17 October 2024
- U9436AHpeters0 contributionsPerfect, just fantastic.Dave was a great driver/guide. I truly appreciated his caring and calm demeanor and he encouraged the group to enjoy all they could during their visit. - F9346KYjeannep0 contributionsExceptional Trip! Our trip was wonderful! The itinerary for the Ultimate Tour was varied and balanced, covering a range of historical, cultural, and natural sites. Many of the stops allowed for variable levels of activity to accommodate different paces and preferences. And we couldn't have had a better tour guide than Pat O’Mara! He gave the trip that extra special touch that made it truly exceptional. We learned so much about Ireland past and present with his engaging, relatable, and at times humorous commentary. He gave us a variety of options to choose from each evening for meals and pubs, making sure each of us was taken care of. I highly recommend touring with Overland Ireland and Pat O’Mara!Written 16 October 2024
- Rivi720 contributionsA dream trip!!I researched so many travel companies before settling on Overland Ireland for their Ultimate Ten Day Tour for my sister and me. All their reviews were so positive and I’m here to say extremely well deserved! I wanted a small group (there were only a total of 14 of us) in a smaller vehicle (Mercedes Sprint) that stayed in unique, small inns and traveled around the entire country. I very much appreciated the coastal route. I never realized how much our guide, David, could add to the overall experience and he was absolutely wonderful. Not only was he an extremely safe driver, he was very witty snd kind; we felt entertained and informed. I think everyone on the trip felt like he was a very special friend by the end of our 10 days together. Our entire van bonded very closely and we never had a disagreement about a thing! I think my favorite town to visit was Dingle and we loved staying at the 5 star castle, Loch Eske. I’m still processing all the history, sights, food and culture of this ancient island. Truly a dream trip come true. Overland Ireland provides an intimate experience for what I feel is a very affordable price! Please talk to their responsive and thoughtful office team.Written 15 October 2024

Each day was filled with opportunities to view and explore “hands on” Ireland’s stunning landmarks, breathtaking scenery, and warm, welcoming people. Our guide, Pat O’Mara was definitely the key to this fantastic adventure. He was a wealth of knowledge on Irish history and folklore and was tirelessly attentive to everyone’s needs. Pat was prompt and professional, and also equipped with a healthy sense of humor. Thank you, King O’Mara for a fantastic trip!! PS we’re happy your hurling team won the Cup!!Written 15 October 2024

I thought this would be a great trip and it exceeded my expectations so many times. My friends wanted the adventurous activities and I wanted history and culture. We knew we wanted to visit Northern Ireland. This trip enabled us to do it all! I was happy that we could each go at our own pace. Most of the hotels were good and the breakfasts were freshly made and delicious. Our tour leader, Mark, was knowledgeable, patient, and he made the trip really fun. This was my first small group tour and our fellow travelers were friendly. Within days, we were watching out for each other. We saw everything on the itinerary and more! We were on the go almost all day everyday but how else could we have seen as much as we did. We had a few problems with our rooms in 2 hotels. One tip-if you're traveling with friends and have a single room, you might book it separately so they don't assume you're bunking with others. But you also need to be sure that you and your fellow travelers get booked on the same trip. Overland may be running multiple trips at the same time. This was a very active tour and there is a lot of walking just because so many of the venues are a bit of hike from the parking lot. We learned about Irish craftsmanship at multiple local businesses. Again, little stops that had a great impact on how I view modern Ireland. At night, there were often local pubs near our hotels that featured traditional music. I would recommend going into Dublin a few days early because it's such a great city. By the end of the tour, some of my fellow travelers were a little worn out from the sightseeing. I was glad we did Dublin first. Overland doesn't offer Dublin tours but we were glad we were able to structure our time there on our own.

Last Summer, I reviewed over two dozen Irish tour operators as I was looking for someone to conduct a private tour of Ireland for a group that I was organizing. Could not have selected a better company than Overland Tours for they accommodated both are timing and located a 19 seat mini-coach for our ultimate Ireland tour. Once the tour began, we had two incredible blessings: ten days of sunshine with no appreciable rain and a tour guide/driver (Ciaran) who expressed a real passion in guiding us through his native Ireland. When not answering questions, or explaining either the terrain around us, or where we'd be going next, he played traditional Irish music for our enjoyment. Invariably, as we toured, Ciaran would suggest diversions whereby he wanted to showed us sights not included on the itinerary, but along our travel routes. Clearly, it was Ciaran who made this tour memorable for all 19 of us. Also found that the staff at Overland was very responsive and made every effort to ensure that we would have an enjoyable tour. Will never hesitate to recommend them to others who are looking to tour Ireland.

We saw it all - castles, gardens, cliffs, wild coastline, single track roads, lots of sheep and cows, and historic towns. From the climb to Cashel Rock to the tour of NewGrange, explanations and preparations were well planned and executed. Seamus was our amazing driver and tour guide. As we followed the itinerary, he regaled us with humorous stories and Irish history while answering innumerable questions. Highly recommend this 10 day tour.

We were on the Jewel 10 day Ultimate Ireland tour which began June 30, 2024. We had booked the tour at the end of March. Our guide was very good and we saw all the sights. Unfortunately, I must rate this trip as poor, with the blame falling on Overland Ireland administration.
On a bus tour, you will spend 30% of your time in the hotel rooms selected by the tour operator, which is the reason for the poor rating. We have traveled in Europe previously and were concerned about the size of the rooms and the air conditioning capabilities. Even though Ireland does not get as warm as continental Europe, buildings can be too warm with little ventilation. Before we booked the tour we contacted Overland to ask about the accommodations and were assured that they were very nice, but did not supply the names of the hotels.
When booking, we were presented with an option for upgraded accommodations for €300 per person which I happily selected. If you look at the itinerary, the route is clockwise around the island. About 1 week before departure we were notified that we would be traveling counterclockwise instead. We did not receive upgraded accommodations on this tour, although another passenger traveling alone did get all updated accommodations. In Dingle, the other travelers were booked at a luxury hotel and received a full hot breakfast of their choosing. They booked us in a tiny hotel (Murphy’s) that had only cereal for breakfast. This is unacceptable and we should have been compensated for this downgrade. The majority of the hotels were very small with inadequate ventilation. Overland claims to have no record of the upgrade request but I definitely selected it so I think they are just dishonest and/or incompetent. Upon our return from vacation, we asked them to see an itemized bill for the trip that they never provided. We do not know whether we were charged for an upgrade. Any reasonable travel company will provide an itemized bill before one travels so that the customer knows exactly what they are paying for.
The vehicle is a 16 passenger Sprinter van, and you will be spending 15% of your trip inside of the van. Our trip had only 6 passengers which was very nice as we could spread out. I would not like to imagine that van with 14-16 passengers. I can only assume the reason for the low passenger count and reversal of direction is that we were part of an overflow tour and they had trouble booking accommodations. The fact that we had booked months in advance made no difference. The one passenger who did receive upgrades booked her tour 1.5 weeks before leaving.
In summary, I would never consider Overland Ireland again due the inadequacy of the accommodations. There are many good guides in Ireland. Find a competent company that uses better hotels.

This was truly an ultimate tour. The tour itinerary was great the walking tours were fantastic and I feel that we saw so much of Ireland. However what made this tour an ultimate experience was our tour guide Seamus. He provided us with entertaining stories and so much history of Ireland. He was an excellent driver (some of those narrow roads are so scary) but we always felt safe with him driving. I would definitely recommend the tour and hope the future folks get a chance to do their tour with Seamus. He kept us informed, provided great suggestions for dinners lunches and pubs to hear traditional music. Well done!!!

Your search for a tour operator in Ireland is over - book with Overland Ireland and you won't be disappointed! The small group tours are the way to go - we had 13 in all. Over a ten day period you will stay in very decent and comfortable lodgings, including a castle (which was a highlight) and experience amazing Irish breakfasts! Hugh, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable in history and Irish folklore. He made it all come to life with his story telling and humourous anecdotes. His experience and knowledge of leading groups make for a well paced and balanced adventure. Not only is he a skilled driver, he is also very good in navigating crowds during a busy tourist season.
Cathy at Overland promptly answered all our pre-tour questions - she was amazing!

We took the 10 Day excursion and we were on the go for those 10 days seeing all of Ireland had to offer. Between Dublin and all the quaint villages and the beautiful scenery, the bed and breakfasts, castles, kayaking, the Cliffs of Moher, the walking tours, the cycling, the ancient burial grounds of Newgrange, Derry and Belfast (Titanic Experience) it was wonderful.
In summary, Seamus our tour guide played an integral role in making our Ireland Overland Tour a remarkable experience. His knowledge, friendliness, organization, storytelling, attentiveness, and adaptability exceeded all our expectations. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had such an exceptional guide and would highly recommend him and the Overland Tour Company to anyone considering a tour of Ireland. His contribution truly elevated our trip, leaving me with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for the Emerald Isle

From the moment we were picked up by our driver and tour guide, Mark D., we were well taken care of. It was apparent at every stage of the tour that our safety, comfort and enjoyment was of paramount importance to Mark. He answered all our questions, offered local insight and remained cheerful and personable, even laughing at my jokes. The pace of the tour was just right. Mark often would check in and give us choices for things like breaks for food and restrooms. The itinerary was a nice blend of natural beautiful sights and local history. Cliffs, castles, waterfalls, local walking tours, sheep herding demonstration with border collies, biking the Aran Islands (choose the e-bike, you will thank me), ferry rides, shopping, and great food were all part of our 10 day tour. My wife has bad knees, so some of the walking requirements pushed her to the limit, in some cases, she would stop part way. There are some physical demands, but that is the nature of the geography and how one gets to the best sights. The mid sized Mercedes coach was well equipped and comfortable. Many of the roads are windy, undulating and bumpy, but our driver was a pro. He kept his headset on to give updates on what we were seeing and to answer questions. The accommodations ranged from modern and spacious to cosy and quirky. Breakfast was excellent at each stop. You should find choices to suit your appetite. You will not leave hungry. Lunch stops ranged from quaint cafes with home baked scones and Espresso to carriageway service stops with multiple fast food choices. Come suppertime, Mark would post half a dozen pub and restaurant choices on the group WhatsApp chat. Also a great way for us to share photos with the group and confirm times for leaving, meeting, etc. This trip was well worth the time and reasonable cost. Beautiful island and gracious people. Highly recommended.

Right from the start this company was amazing. I required extra assistance with my payment , and Cathy patiently provided it. I’m usually a plan it myself type of visitor., but this tour was such a pleasure., so much easier having someone else , who knows the place, plan all the accommodations, transportation and tickets. Our tour guide and driver, Pat O’mara, truly went above and beyond.. Besides watching out for our safety, keeping us all organized and on time to our stops, he provided much commentary on Irish culture and history and shared a bit of himself with us all. At every town we stayed in, he provided names of good restaurants and bars with music., and recommended reservations in towns that were busy. He did his best to avoid large crowds as it was the height of the tourist season. Pat also attended to our individual needs dietary, physical and other. It was sort of like traveling with a local friend who knew place very well… and a busload of 13 friends.
The 10 day tour allowed us to see a little bit of many beautiful places in Ireland. It was a memorable trip and I highly recommend this company.

After 2 years of canceling/rescheduling this trip, our dream of Ireland came true. However, one cannot dream about all that we saw during this trip. Stops along the way included ruins of old monasteries, the dark hedges, a weaver sharing his craft, and countryside stops where Nick provided great narratives on the history of the region! This is a packed adventure but well worth it. Overland Ireland arranged for walking tours in 3 towns which provided insight from locals. The hotel in Derry was great but Derry was hit hard by the pandemic and restaurants were a bit more difficult to find, including the hotel restaurant which was booked. Hopefully this will improve once tourism increases. With the excellent weather, Nick was able to arrange our tours for times when there were fewer crowds. My daughter asked me what was the rose and the thorn of the trip. My rose was the extended hike along the Cliffs of Moher and accomplishing this trip with my husband. The thorn was the WhatsApp. I wish Overland Ireland would have explained the process of using this more (must have data on) as there was some miscommunication at one point but that was remedied. The small group was fabulous and we were all timely with returning to the bus. This helped us experience so many places. I would also recommend adding a rating score to different hikes. For example, the Aran Island hike was more strenuous at the end, so having our hiking poles would have been helpful to know in advance. The extended hike at Cliffs of Moher wasn’t necessarily strenuous for me but was quite lengthy (loved it!), but some parts near the visitor center involved rough ground and steps, so hiking poles would have been helpful for my husband. I would also recommend that Overland Ireland ask if there are any limitations or would we prefer a lift (elevator). For the most part, we were fine going up a flight of stairs but it did seem like the "older" individuals were placed on upper floors. Special shout out to one of the couples and others for helping a few of us get our luggage to the 3rd floor! I could go on forever, but will end by confirming that Nick was very patient, knowledgeable and helpful. I have already recommended Overland Ireland to 3 people and specifically mentioned Nick!
