Overland Tours is Over the Top
Thank you, David, for being a wonderful guide, an experienced safe driver and a guy I'd love to have as a neighbor. The well-organized tour gave us sights we could only imagine. What an absolutely beautiful and historic country. We challenged ourselves to kayak Dingle Bay and swung from the chandeliers at night. Congrats to all at Overland Tours. Time of my life!
My family took a trip around Ireland through Overland... We celebrated our dad's 82nd birthday and traced his roots back to his ancestors original hometown. It was the time of our life! David was our tour driver and absolutely wonderful, accommodating and made sure to make it a great time for us. Thank you for making it such a special time.

Private 5 day tour with Overland Ireland
We just got back from an amazing trip to Ireland. Dave from Overland Tours was wonderful. We started in Dublin and proceeded to Killarney, Dingle, Doolin, and ended in Galway. This was a private arranged tour. We have been talking about how Overland made our trip. Between the driving, checking us into hotels that were booked thru Overland and all the little tours within the days we visited we learned so much. We would never have had the same experience if we had tried to do this on our own. Thanks Dave - you made our trip very memorable!!

    Three words…book the tour!
It has taken me two weeks to process the magic that was this tour, and not only am I missing the beauty and peace of Ireland, I am missing the friends I made on this trip. Our guide, Mark, was not only knowledgeable about his country, he was passionate about its history, it’s people, and US. He created individual relationships with every member of our tour and made sure that we saw as much of the island as we could. From tourist sites like the Cliffs of Moher and Blarney castle to more subtle locations off the beaten path and every local pub in between, Mark and Overland Ireland made sure we experienced it all. I will treasure these memories forever, and have zero hesitation in saying book the trip…and hope that I get the opportunity to travel with Mark and my new friends again in the future!

    Best Tour Ever!!
My trip with Overland Ireland was an absolute dream! The stunning landscapes of Ireland, from the rugged cliffs of Moher to the serene beauty of the Ring of Kerry, were simply breathtaking. Every turn revealed a new vista, and the picturesque towns and villages were charming. Beyond the scenery, I was captivated by the rich Irish culture. Our knowledgeable guide brought history to life with fascinating stories and insights. We explored ancient castles, vibrant cities, and traditional pubs, immersing ourselves in the local way of life. The small group tour format created a wonderful sense of camaraderie, and our guide's enthusiasm was infectious. I highly recommend Overland Ireland for anyone seeking an authentic and unforgettable Irish experience.

Not as anticipated from the information I had researched.
I have just read so many good reviews of the trips. I cant believe how unlucky I wqs to get the tour I was on. The best thing about the tour were the other people on the tour. Ireland on my bucket list for years and finally saved for the trip and it was disappointing.

    Epic and Magical!
This was a bucket list trip of a life time. Thank you very much Overland Ireland for accomidating a wee small group, 3 of us and the greatest bus driver and tour guide in the world Miss Bre (Breda). She went out of her way to show us more than we expected and explained so many stops, vistas and towns to us and also participated in walking tours with us. Ireland is a beautiful Island filled with magic and we felt it. The castles, the mountains and water ways. The towns we stayed in the libations and food we partook in, the music all of it breath taking. My wife and I enjoyed the trip immensley and would do it all over again! Thank you Miss Bre!!!!!

A great company to guide you around the Emeral Isle
I recently completed the full tour around the beautiful Emerald Isle and loved all 10 days. Our guide, Patrick O’Mara, was fabulous, combining humor with an encyclopedic historical knowledge of Ireland. Hotel / Inn accommodations were always comfortable, and the complementary breakfasts never disappointed.

Excellent introduction to south west Ireland
Excellent well organised trip. I travelled with my husband Jim. Small interesting group a young couple from Detroit, a mother and daughter from Minnesota and a couple from Germany but it was our driver/guide Jack who made it so special for us all accommodating everyones wishes and interests.

Lovely 10 day Tour in Ireland
We had a wonderful trip with Cathal guiding and driving us for 10 glorious days. The planned stops and locations were enhanced by the extra local insights provided by Cathal. We stopped to watch boys playing Irish football and learn a bit of the rules! The little extras added to our appreciation and understanding of Ireland. And thanks for sharing your electric bike on that long hill on the Aran Isle! The 14 person van was perfect for the smaller roads we could travel off the busy paths. Thanks to Cathal and the folks who travelled with us. You were all great!

    Bucket List tour of Ireland
My wife and I went on the 10 day tour from 10/8-17 with Cathal as our guide. The entire trip was perfect: weather, accommodations, enough time at each site not to feel rushed, the different places we went for meals, our walking tours with guides in Kinsale, Galway and Derry. My wife had sciatic nerve pain that increased in the first 6 days of the trip so that by day 7, she considered abandoning the tour and going home. Cathal went above and beyond by finding a doctor, taking my wife to him, and having to eat his dinner late at Lough Eske Castle Hotel after their return . The next morning, he knew where a pharmacy was so my wife could get her medicine-she and I completed the full tour. We are both forever grateful for Cathal’s kindness.

My husband and I just returned from a fabulous week long tour with Overland Ireland. Our fellow travelers were welcoming and fun and our tour guide Seamus was stellar! He carried us through the country with skill, professionalism and humor. Flexibility was the name of the game as the weather was predictably a bit unpredictable. Unfortunately, our Skellig Michael excursion was canceled due to high winds - which apparently occurs quite often. I still loved staying in Portmagee and my favorite meal of the trip was that night at The Moorings. In general, the accommodations were just fine; some nicer than others. My favorite stay was the Doolin Inn which hands down had the best breakfast. Highlights of the trip were the sheepdog demonstration and the Galway e-bike tour. We also decided to pay the up charge for e-bikes on the Aran Islands. I recommend this as it allows you to cover more ground in less time. The only activity I didn’t love was the kayaking in Killarney National Park. The windy and chilly conditions made it especially challenging. I would have preferred an option for e-biking instead of kayaking. I do realize that weather often played a role in my overall enjoyment of a given activity. In general, Ireland knows how to accommodate large numbers of tourists; efficiently and friendly. Seamus took such good care of us throughout the week. He made dinner or lunch reservations for the group when he knew it would be tricky to get tables. He also helped my husband book a private fly fishing guide on our free afternoon in Killarney. Definitely a highlight experience for my husband. I spent that afternoon walking the beautiful grounds of the Killarney House and Gardens after warming up in the hotel sauna. It was a fun and busy week. If you are looking for a super relaxing chill vacation with lots of down time, then this tour might not be for you. For me, Overland provided a wonderful, stress-free introduction to Ireland.

This review is written by American tourists visiting Ireland for the first time. We chose Overland Ireland’s “Ireland to Island 7-Day Zest Tour” in August/September of 2024. The tour combines traditional sightseeing and active excursions while traveling clockwise around Ireland.

Our guide was Pat O Mara. If you have the chance to request a specific guide, Pat should be your first choice! He could simultaneously be the most knowledgeable and funniest person in all of Ireland. Pat had our bus howling with laughter throughout the trip which helped break up the necessary driving between cities. However, he also gave us so much knowledge about Ireland that we found ourselves correcting other tour guides during our excursions.

Pat’s enjoyment of his profession is evident from the start. Aside from his humor and knowledge, he excels at the more critical aspects of tour guiding: logistics, accommodation, and of course, safe driving. We never once had to think about what we would do next or where we would find a bathroom or spot for food. Pat makes optional nightly dinner reservations and sends multiple alternate meal options at each city. You are truly free to make this trip your own.

The tour itself was perfect: plenty of traditional sights with a mix of active excursions and time to shop, explore a city, hit a pub, etc. The weather is as expected for the island with a mix of sun, clouds, and rain. Weather can change very quickly, so bring layers and always be prepared for a light rain shower.

We found ourselves wanting another day in Doolin and Galway; you could stay in Galway at the end of the tour rather than taking the bus back to Dublin after the Galway city bike tour.

Overall the itinerary is a great way to see Ireland and understand its long history. Pat O Mara was the highlight for the trip and is the best tour guide we’ve ever had!

What an adventure!! Hands down one of the best holidays we’ve ever experienced!! Overland Tours figured out how to create the perfect week on their beautiful Emerald Island!! Pat was the BEST guide and his love and knowledge of history of his country was obvious!! Our small group of 11 became family for the week (and then some)!

Every day was packed with tons of fun activities (which were optional if you were tired from previous day excursions), picturesque views, grand history, excellent meals and wonderful overnight stays unique to this amazing island! We took hikes up mountains, on mountains, a Jameson whiskey distillery tour, explored ancient castles and churches, scenic coastal drives, flower gardens and waterfalls, a sheepdog farm, kayaked, went to a Gaelic dance performance and so much more!! Each day Pat gave us our agenda, links to our stay that evening and had reservations at the most wonderful restaurants along the way. He also provided links to pubs and live music locations in each place if we wanted to spend free time after the days activities.

Our small group allowed us to get to know one another as if we had friends for ages! The bus was extremely comfortable with plenty of room so that we weren’t packed in at all. We all chose to eat dinner together as a group to continue that bonding and enjoy the delicious food that Pat recommended each night-and I highly recommend stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something new and definitely Irish! (You do have the option of dining on your own, but we wanted to soak up every minute with Pat!)

Anyone traveling to Ireland, rest assured you will be in great hands with Overland Tours! They thought of everything for you! We actually booked a room at the beautiful Ashling Hotel where your guide will meet you the next morning to start your tour. Taxi’s, buses, and rail trams are abundant and minimal cost to get around the cities. We walked-a lot-but most things were close enough to do that. Lots of shopping in the bigger cities if you find time. Food and drink choices on every corner!

Americans traveling to Ireland during summer months: I recommend bringing a small portable fan for your hotel stays (of course I’m from Mississippi so this was a necessity!!), good tennis shoes (hiking boots not required) that are supportive and comfortable because you WILL be walking a good bit, pants/jeans for farm trip and some cooler mountaintop and evening breezes, a backpack for necessities, a good refillable water bottle, and make room on your cell phone for tons of gorgeous pictures!!

Thank you Overland Tours and Pat O’Mara for the amazing week abroad!!

Cannot speak highly enough of our Overland Ireland tour! Our family of five took an individual, small group tour of Southern/Western Ireland from Dublin- a total 10 days.

Leah and Jessica were a crucial part of the planning process and helped with creating the perfect trip itinerary for our family, while also remaining cognizant of our budget. They were very responsive to emails and even met via video call to go over questions we had, which eased our anxiety about traveling abroad for the first time. They also were very helpful in establishing special reservations for restaurants and attractions prior to our visit, and updated us as changes were made to our itinerary.

Our journey started in Dublin, where we were charmed by the history of the Castle Hotel, and made visits to the Guinness Storehouse and Jameson Distillery, but our real journey began the next day when we met our driver Pat and ventured into "True Ireland". Over the course of our 10 day visit, we were able to see more than we ever anticipated and stopped at sites along the way that we hadn't expected. Some of our favorite sites included- the Rock of Cashel, Gap of Dunloe, Barry's walking tour in Kinsale, Muckross House, Ross Castle, Kylemore Abbey, the Blasket Center, Inch beach, The Quiet Man museum, Sean's walking tour in Galway, and Ashford Castle. Each day, Pat worked hard to personalize our trip and remained open to adventure! He was incredibly flexible and willing to adjust the schedule based on our needs for the day, and he always kept the van clean/tidy. Pat often had fantastic suggestions for food and shopping, and overall kept us well entertained with stories and conversation along the way! Pat truly became one of the family. The memories he created for us will never be forgotten, and would not have happened on a larger tour bus. Additionally, every hotel/bed and breakfast was clean and perfectly located. We enjoyed the breakfast selections and amenities. Each town also had a great selection of restaurants and local music.

On the final day of our trip, I can honestly say that we were all very sad to leave Ireland. The kindness of the Irish people, the beauty of Ireland's landscape, the rich history, music, and culture are unmatched. We just want to thank the team at Overland Ireland for making this trip so special and for creating amazing memories for our family! We will be back soon and there is no other company we would rather travel. 110% recommend for small group/family tours!

Hugh O'Reilly was our tour guide, par excellence! He had an amazing ability to relate and read our group of ten - when to explain about our sites, when to listen, when to play Irish music, when to let us sleep, when to quicken or slow the pace! He had a wonderful sense of humor, was always upbeat and smiling and was quite the dapper dresser. Hugh had a wealth of information about Irish history and countable anecdotes about his childhood and his family. Highly professional, at the end of the tour Hugh offered ways to make the tour even better. He mentioned increasing nights to three in Killarney and Galway to use them as bases and not have to pack and unpack each day. This would allow a tour of the Dingle Penninsula, and Westport. All in all, a great tour guide and a very nice and unforgettable person! Felt lucky to have been with him and with our amazing group! I was solo among four couples and a daughter of one of the couples and we all got along fantastically. Five out of five for the tour and the group! Memorable moments: Blarney Castle, Middleton Distillery, Rock of Cashell, Kelmare, Sheep Farm, Skellig Michael and its adorable puffins (not the boat ride, too choppy!), Killarney and Kayaking Killarney Nat'l Park, and the group dynamics. Would highly recommend Hugh O'Reilly and this tour including Dingle!

Overland is a wonderful company to book your Ireland adventure with. It is a legit company and the real deal:) We booked a private family tour (six American adults) with a customized itinerary to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary and a birthday.

Liz was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process. She was mindful about creating an itinerary that matched our bucket list "must-dos" as well as providing suggestions and coordinating all of our accommodations. She was very responsive to all of our emails.

Mark, our guide, really made the trip special. He quickly became part of the family. He gave us a real feel of what Ireland hospitality is all about. He added jewels to our stops that we were not expecting. Because we were a small group, private tour, he proactively was able to switch some activities around to align with the weather. He was able to offer great suggestions on restaurants, pubs, and things we might be interested in during our free time.

Booking with Overland really took away all of the stress with planning an international group trip. We highly recommend them and will book trips to Ireland with them in the future.

We'd never done a guided tour before and we definitely had our trepidations about being locked in to a set itinerary with a group of people we did not know. Suffice it to say that Pat, our guide, put our concerns to rest within minutes. The group of folks was grand and he proved to be more than an adept and affable guide.

Pat took us to highly touristed sites like Rock of Kashel and Blarney Castle and grounds as well as far more unique sites like Skellig Michael and various places off the beaten tourist trail to castle ruins and Viking settlements with equal depth of knowledge and aplomb. There was time to listen and learn and there was ample to time to explore on one's own and then debrief with Pat after the experience. Or not. That was the beauty here. Choice.

As advertised, there was a great deal of flexibility within any day's given itinerary. For instance, slightly adventurous folks could take an e-bike tour of Galway while those less inclined could take a driving/walking tour of the city with Pat. Options abounded. Further, evenings were always free for a pub or three, a meal with fellow travelers or on your own, and plenty of opportunities for trad music.

Highly recommended!!!

We went on the 7 day Ireland to Island tour in late June 2024, with Pat O’Mara as our tour guide - everything about the experience was incredible. The itinerary is the perfect balance of active while still getting free time to explore on your own. The dinners and accommodations booked for us were all outstanding. You get the opportunity to experience things you’d never be able to arrange on your own. And having a smaller group of 12 allowed us to create relationships with the people on our tour, but not be sitting on a huge bus with 50 people. And most importantly, Pat went above and beyond every day to make sure we had the perfect experience. He made the experience 10 times better. I would do another tour with overland in a heartbeat as long as Pat is the tour guide!

Well planned, organized, scenic trip! Van size was ideal and comfy; just the right amount of travel times and well thought out destinations. I would heartily recommend the tour group as they provide so much personal and valuable communications before the trip. Pat O'Mara, our guide and driver on the trip, was exceptional! So personable and professional - knowledge combined with humor - he made everyone feel comfortable. He is so gracious and accommodating with the perfect balance of levity!! ...always checking in with us as to our thoughts or preferences. He guided a group of strangers to becoming a group of friends.

Highly recommend this small group tour. We had 8 in our group. The small group size and small bus enabled us to stop in smaller towns and get a true Irish experience while also seeing well known sites such as Rock of Cashel and Cliff of Moher. A few of my favorite experiences were the bike/hike on the Aran island of Inis Mor and the sheep dog demonstration in Kerry. I also really enjoyed our beach visits. What really made our tour was our guide, Pat. We learned so much about Irish history, culture, religion, music etc. Pat was always so friendly, accommodating, and flexible. He gave us excellent recommendations along the way for things to do and places to eat during our free time. The whole group had lots of fun and laughs along the way. Food and accommodations were also excellent. Awesome experience.
