Experience a Gaelic Games session at a local Gaelic club called "Na Fianna", just 10 minutes bus journey from city centre. Our modern facility includes a dedicated visitor centre. Three public bus routes (number 4, 9 and 155) stop directly across the road. Sessions start with an introduction which includes history of the games, their revered place in Irish life. Following the engaging introduction, it's outside where you'll partake in gentle team building activities of Gaelic Football, Hurling and Handball. You’ll need flat footwear and a willingness to have fun. Casual clothing is preferable. Bring sporting attire if you'll get competitive. There is water, tea/coffee available. If you wish to use our on-site dressing rooms/showers, please bring your own towels/toiletries. Interaction makes the event: our trainers are great; they are passionate about their beloved games and really interact with visitors. Depending on the group you most likely play mini-matches - all in good fun!

It is a must!!! You have to do it!!
Miles was just amazing! You have to do it 200 %. It is more complex than you think. And an amazing experience. It is a must to do!!! We had the chance to see a game after the "class". And we are not just in love with that amazing sport. It should be an international sport. Those athletes are amazing!! Thank you again for the super experience. We will always remember you!!

      So fun!
Our family, which included 3 children ages 7-11, had an epic experience with Steven at GAA in Galway. Steven was a patient and fun teacher who offered us the basics of both hurling and Gaelic football. We highly recommend this experience!

Sure, you can check off everything in the guidebook, or you can have way more fun figuring out how to get to a place on the flip side of the map and play games. These games aren't just past times. These are more serious than any Superbowl and mean more than any college rivalry. So you net a day of laughter and culture. My only regret is I didn't get any pictures because we were always moving, making me think i would lose or break my phone.

      An Outstanding activity with kids/teenagers
Our family really enjoyed learning about and playing these ancient Gaelic games! Georgina taught us well about the history of these games in Ireland and the importance they play in the local community, county, and country. It was an informative and interesting presentation that helped us better understand Irish culture. Adhón then took us to the pitch to teach us about Gaelic football, handball, and hurling. Each sport has its own unique set of skills and rules. He was an encouraging and fun coach, teaching us well and allowing us to still have great family fun. Anyone traveling to Dublin should consider trying this out. No skill or athletic ability necessary, just a willingness to try something new.

      So much fun!
I didn't know what to expect, but this was a blast. We learned three games, and while we were all terrible at all of them, we learned enough to have fun playing them. Great thing to do with teenagers through about 60 years old if you're fit. It's definitely a work out.

A highlight of our Dublin trip.
This was amazing. Geraldine was very welcoming and passionate and explained how pivotal the GAA is in the Irish psyche. Miceal was a brilliant and patient coach. Great feeling swatting the sliothar over the Bar in hurling! My wife and I really enjoyed the two pick up games v the American family on our tour. Bonus was that we got a good workout as well as having great fun! Any sports fan visiting Dublin should add this experience to their must do list.

      Quality school trip
Visited with 35 school kids and had an excellent time. The staff were really friendly and attentive. They passed on their passion and cultural understanding of each sport to our students so they had a really fun and interactive time learning, playing and developing physical skills. A must do experience.

      Fantastic!!
I visited Dublin to watch England in the Six Nations with my son and a good friend. We decided to avoid some of the more traditional Dublin experiences. Don’t get me wrong, we still enjoyed the bars and music but the real craic was by far the morning we spent with the team at Experience Gaelic Games getting some fresh air and enjoying the reality of Gaelic sports. We had a memorable time trying out hurling, handball and football but the day was made special because we learnt about history of the Gaelic sports, and how important it is in the Irish culture (also the fun of learning how the ‘ish’ in Irish can be applied to some of the rules). Thank you to the team for looking after us so well, being so hospitable and friendly, and making sure we had such a great time. We also got a great recommendation for a local pub which we visited for a well earned drink after the sports! Thanks again. David

A thoroughly fantastic stag do activity!

We visited Experience Gaelic Games in July 2023 as part of a stag do. From start to finish, the experience was perfect for a group of our size, with a nice amount of feedback and learning involved but without dampening the fun! The video at the start was a great way to introduce the sports and the amount of time spent getting stuck in made it excellent value for money! Above all else, the staff were exceptional! They could not have been nicer to us, and I felt they were genuinely happy to have us there. Couldn’t recommend this experience enough!!!

Fun active way to understand some Gaelic games and understand the culture behind them. The experience was well run by absolute enthusiasts keen to share the history of Gaelic Associations and the games played but also committed to ensuring absolute novices have fun in the process. Would recommend for any child or adult capable of playing some sport. They will try to organise groups of similar abilities ie travelling sports teams separate from interested but uncoordinated family groups.
Was the highlight of our recent Dublin trip. Blows the cobwebs out after planes , trains, autos and churches, museums.

This was fantastically fun and a truly different kind of experience. Instructors are great. And in addition to being simply a blast, we gained an appreciation for the role of Gaelic games in Irish culture. Highly recommend with the caveat that to enjoy it, you need to have some degree of general coordination or interest in athletics -- one member of our group did not and did not enjoy it.

We had a blast learning about handball, hurling, and gaelic football. We learned the "rules" and played all three sports over the course of a few hours. My favorite part was learning about the rich history of the GAA and how much it means to the people of Ireland. The experience was easy to book, and the hosts contacted us a few days early to tell us that we were the only ones in our group and would we be willing to change days? We had flexibility in our schedule so I'm glad we changed days; we got to play with four other people making it a fun and competitive atmosphere. Eoin was a terrific coach. I would absolutely do this again

It’s tough to find an activity (3 boys, two parents) that gets us all engaged. But this certainly hit the spot. We not only got an insight into the games themselves (hurling, football and handball) but also into its significance within the Irish community. We really enjoyed having a go at the sports and the team made us feel very welcome, tailoring the experience from us adults down to my 6 year old.

    Thanks heaps guys!

We were a group of 13, mostly 60 year-olds that enjoy our sport and whilst we were in Dublin, we wanted to try our hand at Gaelic sports and what a great day we had at Na Fianna GAA club. From the initial history talk to taking to the handball court and 3G pitch for football & Hurling, i cant speak highly enough of the the 2 coaches we had and Georgina (i think) for the chat. They went through everything with a great sense of humour with us but gave us the GAA sports experience we really wanted. Also, thanks for sending us to the Gravedigger Pub, where we spent longer than anticipated. Would definitely recommend both.

We had a fantastic time at Experience Gaelic Games as part of a stag weekend and would highly recommend this activity to anyone who is looking for something a little bit different to do in Dublin.

The day started with a fascinating introduction to the history and significance of the three Gaelic sports that we participated in (Hurling, Gaelic Football and Handball). Following this, it was straight out onto the training pitch to learn the basic skills of Hurling to enable to us to then take part in a match at the end of the session. After a short break, we had a go at Gaelic Football and then Handball, with a knockout competition at the end. Our coaches talked us through the skills required for each sport and were patient and clear in explaining the rules to everyone.

We received excellent hospitality from everyone at the Na Fianna club and really enjoyed the experience. Thank you to all involved. We would definitely come back and try to improve our skills!

Great combination of an interesting introduction to the history and importance of the Gaelic Games, combined with hands-on opportunity to do some drills and then play the games.

The staff was enthusiastic about their work, the facility was nicely laid out, and the gear was quality. I would recommend this activity to anyone travelling through Ireland who is not familiar with these sports, and would add a note to try to see an actual hurling or Irish football match if you can to see it in action. We were able to see Irish football live at Croke Park the day before attending this event, so that added to the experience.

Will also note that if you are at the Dublin facility, it is a short walk to Glasnevin Cemetery (take the tour) and the Botanical Gardens.

Experience Gaelic Games offered an amazing experience to me and my wife. The first part offered a fascinating insight into why Gaelic Games are so important in Ireland and we then had ample time to experience all three sports. Each script starts with some drills and then a game and the coaches were extremely helpful and friendly throughout. Many thanks to all the team who worked on the 11am session, Saturday 26th March.

We were initially apprehensive about being a couple and potentially being grouped with a Stag Do / sports team but this wasn’t a problem at all. The session involved ourselves, an individual and a Stag Do! All the men from the group were very friendly and we enjoyed participating with them. They were excellent with my wife who was initially nervous. Most importantly, the coaches kept checking in on us and would have happily taken us off separately if things weren’t working out with the group. This level of customer service is really important and for any small groups who are apprehensive, you can rest assured that you will be well looked after and given the best possible experience.

This was truly the highlight of our trip and I’d love to play each of the sports again. Very different to anything I’ve done before.

Our time with Experience Gaelic Games was great. It started with a text from Georgina letting us know we were the only two signed up for the day. She said it was unusual but they could accommodate us or we could switch to another day. We decided to stay with our original booking. Paul met us outside and began the day. He explained the GAA clubs and their role in the community and country. He spoke about the games and how popular they are even as an amateur sports. We then started with handball to get us warmed up. Paul gave us instructions, went through a few drills then played a game, which turned into three games. Next was hurling. We followed the same routine of instruction, drills and games. He made mini competitions with the drills once he noticed how competitive we were with each other. Last up was Gaelic football. Again the same routine with instruction, drills, and games. We had a blast! At the end Paul airdropped us pictures which we hadn't realized he was taking because we were having so much fun. I would recommend this to everyone!
