      Best Tour for Nature Enthusiasts
Kevin was a fantastic tour guide for the Dublin to Wicklow and Glendalough tour. We loved the horseback riding at Killegar Stables and the views in the Wicklow Mountains National Park. The hike around Glendalough was incredible! Excellent nature experience all around and the best tour of our whole trip!

      Wonderful trip
Great trip. Enjoyed this trip thoroughly largely due to our Driver/Guide Johnny. Johnny was humorous with a fine wit and was knowledgeable about the locations we visited.

      Great day in Ireland!
Our tour with Hilltop Treks was fantastic! Our guide Linda was so much fun. We’d definitely want her again. The gardens are unbelievable! Beauty everywhere. Plan on coming again in another season. Lunch location was quaint, quick & delicious. Drive through the mountains was wonderful. So many shades of green.

      Perfect mountain getaway from Dublin
What a wonderful way to experience a beautiful slice of the Emerald Isle! Where else can you stroll through gorgeous gardens, see a lake shaped like a mug of Guinness ( with a real Guinness connection!) and visit a historic settlement and take an easy hike through all the green to enjoy the lakes and mountains, plus have a fun lunch in a town cute enough to be the set for the movie Disenchanted? (Yes that was one sentence!) Tjis was a great, well organized day tour and our guide Linda was awesome—friendly, interesting and helpful.

Great sites to visit in one day. The driver/guide was very knowledgeable, but could have shortened the infomation download.

      Wonderful day in Wicklow
Wonderful day and well designed tour. Lovely walk through Powerscourt Garden, with the famous perennial border in the walled garden a particular delight. Also enjoyed the view over Lough Tay and the serene beauty of Glendalough and St Kevin's Monastery. Bernie was an excellent driver/guide - we especially enjoyed his knowledge of film and television locations in the places we visited, as well as his ability to bring history alive. Highly recommended.

Go if you want to be yelled at by a grumpy Irishman
I was SO looking forward to this and I was actually really disappointed. Our driver made the trip with his in depth knowledge of the area and the historical facts but other that, it was very meh and kinda a waste of time. I was most looking forward to the horses but I felt like I was getting yelled at the whole time by Joe and another lady. Addie was the most pleasant of all but the others made me feel like they just hated tourists and wanted it to be done and over with. Joe kept asking us if we were having fun but the man, who has apparently been doing this for decades, never smiled or really made us feel welcome. He was pretty pushy and aggressive at some points. Someone went to the Toilet and the door was broken so I was holding it close for them- he told me move on and I said someone was inside and he said there’s another bathroom at your next stop. Then I heard him tell the driver he should take the sign down so no one uses it- so you can’t accommodate someone needing to use the bathroom after 3+ hours of driving and horse back riding? Really? It’s an 8 person group- Not a hord of people. The sight seeing was beautiful but we didn’t really stop except for one spot and it was only for 5 mins. And the the last stop was over an hour in Glendalough for the ruins that didn’t really need an hour, in my opinion. This kinda felt like a tourist trap as the horse back riding was a walking trail ride and through the woods- not very many mountain views at all and also only an hour and a half to 2 hours of the 8 hour trip. But horse back riding is main advertisement so why not allow it to be the main event? Again, the driver was amazing and he was the highlight of the trip for sure. I don’t doubt this review will be read and dismissed based on the fact you can’t teach an old dog new tricks but, Joe, if you’re reading this, being nice doesn’t cost anything. If you’re sick of dealing with beginner tourists on horses, I suggest you retire.

Great tour to learn more about Irish history
Great tour. Matt was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and a true history buff. Tour is slightly changed from the description, but a minor issue. This is a small bus tour which made it much more personal. Matt also pointed out many other sights not listed in the tour description.

      Excellent Tour With Outstanding Guide
This was a very well organized tour, and Matt was an excellent guide who was unusually well informed about the sites and their history. Because the sites were less than an hour north of Dublin, we had enough time to explore each of them and enjoy lunch. Highly recommended!

Linda ensured a great day for us!!!
What a lovely day! We had great touring weather, a mix of sun and clouds and nicely cool. Linda was a great guide- so knowledgeable about the area we toured: the history and local lore. She knew when to let us enjoy the views without too much commentary as well- which always makes for a great experience. Great combination of majestic views and wonderful plant variety in the gardens, sweet village of Enniskerry, interesting ruins at Glendalough. A thoroughly wonderful experience all day- much appreciated and highly recommended!

Great way to spend the day outside of Dublin!
Fun tour with knowledge guide. We loved the gardens of Powerscourt! Our lunch stop was perfect, and we enjoyed the highlights & stops along the way. The bus was very comfortable, with the exception of no AC. Luckily it wasn’t too warm, but got a little stuffy at times. Otherwise, would book with this company again!

      Do this in good weather
You really need good weather to enjoy this tour. We didn't have it. It was cold, rainy and windy. I thought the tour guide could have done more with info during the drive out and back. He was repetitive. We were all soaked and cold. The site was fascinating and I am glad I went but.....

Had an excellent tour with Richard (our tour guide) who knew a whole lot about Irish history and the local areas we visited on the tour. The Irish weather really put up a show with rain, cloud and sunshine during our hike but it just made the landscape utterly Irish! Loved visiting Loch Tay, that famous bridge (if you know, you know) and Glendalough. Stunning scenery everywhere you look.

Great variety of activities; some in our group chose horseback riding and the gardens, while most of us took the guided walk. Our guide taught us a lot of history, ecology, and fun facts about the region. Very open to questions and info requests. We got to see the beautiful woods, lakes, and peat bogs of the Wicklow Mountains, enjoy the monastery, and had good food as well!

Although the weather was not very cooperative I had a wonderful time on this outing. Our guide, Gillian, was extremely knowledgable and entertaining and made sure the tour was punctual and ran smoothly. The smaller group size made visiting with fellow travellers easy, and the bus was quite comfortable. I would definitely recommend this tour for someone interested in the natural beauty of rural Ireland and the history of early Irish Christianity.

This tour was such a lovely contrast to the hustle and bustle of Dublin city without too far to travel to feel immersed in nature.
The experience encompasses history, spectacular views vista's of nature and really nice to travel with a small group...
Our wonderful guide was so helpful informative and extremely patient with everyone. Especially on a busy bank holiday weekend with a lot of traffic. Couldn't rate more highly.

    Not happy with this tour.
We chose on purpose the one with walks around wicklow mountains and free Time…
    It was not as expected.
The guide (nice by the way) explained at 10am that We will have an other program, because of fog (it was december, not raining, a bit of sun… I don’t know when can there be a Better weather in Dublin in December…).
Instead of going for a walk on the mountains, the guide brought us to Powerscourt House, for 2 hours… with at least one hour too much, with Nothing to do.
I will not recommend as you feel totally fooled in the end. We tried the tour as it was expected to be different, we ll rent a car next Time.
    Too bad

Ps : I Guess We had no chance, one Girl with us booked a different tour, including horse riding. So it was clearly impossible to go to the mountains while picking her after her riding… But it’s even Worse. The guide knew from the beginning that the tour would be like that.

I'm very sorry that you did not enjoy your tour. I was talking to your guide Robert and he explained that because it was raining, he suggested that he would bring you for the guided walk in Glendalough instead, which I believe he did and that most people on the tour where happy to do this. You got 2hrs at the gardens .. and a guided walk in Glendalough.so, you got a guided walk and visited the gardens. There are people going Horse riding all the time from this tour, so that person going horse riding had nothing to do with the decision on the day.

I can't rate this trip, because they switched us to another tour WITHOUT TELLING US until we were at the first stop and the guide purchased our entry tickets. When pressed why, I found out they had moved us to another tour (we wondered why we were at Powerscourt??) that cost less so paid the entry fee to make up for it. I believe we should have been told up front and given the option to cancel, which we would have done. I did not find out why this was done, but assume maybe we were the only ones that signed up for the "Small-Group Wicklow and Glendalough Day Tour from Dublin with a Guided Walk". We actually wanted this same tour with Horseback Riding and could have done that on another day. It was full when we went and didn't realize we had booked the walking tour vs. horseback riding until too late to cancel (that was my fault). But to be moved to another tour altogether and not tell us or give us the option to cancel or reschedule to another day was not ok.

Hi Daniel, we would not switch you without asking. Matt was your guide I believe and he asked everyone if they wished to bust the Gatdens instead of the guided walk and you all said you would prefer to visit the Gardens. I was just talking to Matt about this

Even though the weather was terrible, he guide endured that we all were all given the opportunity to do the things we all wanted to do. The guide spent time with me completing the guided walk even though I was the only one going. I very much appreciated that. She took us to the PS I love you bridge, through the Wicklow mountains. Enjoyed this tour very much!

We had a great day on this tour despite it being rainy and at times foggy which we knew was a possible as we went in September. Matt was a wonderful guide, he made the day fun and tried to accommodate as best as he could d/t the weather. We went to enniskerry, powerscourt, Wicklow and glendolough. We couldn’t do the short hike d/t weather but it was still wonderful. We had plenty of time to see all the main spots, never felt rushed. The small group size was perfect especially since we had just done a large one the day prior. We learned so much history. Definitely recommend this tour.

We booked this tour with high hopes and we were not disappointed. Johnny met us near Trinity College and we hopped in the van to commence our tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the walk thru the Irish countryside and fields. Finding the hidden and ancient ruins of a church was outstanding. We primarily booked this trip for the walk, which we had had the beginning and end of the tour, but the sights and explanations from Johnny made this an outstanding overall trip. We did not feel rushed while exploring and our time was well managed. The driving time on this tour was not excessive. Johnny gave a great tour!
