About the operator
- LoserDude00Noisy mininbusTour was great. Newgrange was great. Knowth was awesome. Vehicle was hot, noisy, and uncomfortable.
- TarrenvdB00BreathtakingI can't believe it's taken us so long to visit these sites. It is ancient, steep in mystery & mythology. Both Knowth & Newgrange are very well maintained, & the OPW staff members are very passionate about these historic spaces. We were blessed with good weather on the day, & the buses to & from the visitor center & sites made the trip even more nostalgic & exciting. You can climb on top of the Knowth mound, which gives you an un paralleled 360 degree view of the surrounds. The stones around the Knowth mound are full of petroglyphs & you can get up close & take photos (if you're lucky, the light might be in the right place for you to get a great photo). Time flies when you're there, so take it in as fast as you can before the bus leaves for Newgrange. Jackie (OPW staff - Knowth) was very right when she shared her passion for Knowth over Newgrange. Knowth appears bigger, has multiple little mounds, & a lot of petroglyphs. BUT, unlike Knowth, you can go into the shaft & chamber of Newgrange. You can't take photos inside Newgrange though. Be advised, if you're claustrophobic, this might not be the best part of the experience for you. The Newgrange chamber is very narrow & low at one point. I am a curvey 5ft6 had some difficulty getting through comfortably. Also, if you have mobility issues (wheelchair/rollator/crutches), you will not be able to access the stairs to & from the main entrance to the entrance, nor will you be able to access the passage & chamber at Newgrange.
- Susan S00I highly recommend the Wicklow with horse back riding trek.Wonderful experience ! Tour guide Kevin was amazing shared lots of historical info as well along the way. Very accomadating.
- 318naomil00Horse-riding in Wicklow MountainsThe experience on horseback through the forest in Wicklow was such a great way to see that area of Ireland. The stables were welcoming and accommodating, lunch was in this cute little town and the drive was beautiful. Visiting Glendalough Monastery and hiking to the waterfall added to the fun. Our driver guide was professional and informative. Recommend 100%!!
- N3119XZmarissar00Loved the horses and the tour! This tour was the highlight of our cruise! The horseback riding was so much fun and we had beautiful views along the way. The instructors matched us perfectly with horses and were very patient and so kind, especially since we are beginners. Our bus stopped at a few places with incredible views and allowed us to take lots of photos, where we never felt rushed. Our tour guide was very nice and informative. We also stopped for lunch, which was a very cute restaurant with delicious food. My one tip if you are doing this tour off of a cruise is to give yourself a good amount of time to get to the meeting point and back, as it is a ways away from the port. Had a GREAT time on this tour!
- FGFUSA00Excellent trip with excellent guideMy wife and I greatly enjoyed this trip. Kevin made it especially good as he is excellent. We recommend it without hesitation.
- Z4536UMjessicad00Great experience! Our tour guide, Kevin, was excellent! I loved his storytelling of Irish mythology. He was so funny! 10/10 would recommend anyone visiting Ireland, book this tour. The horse back riding was amazing and the girls are lovely.
- John W00Highly recommended!Knowledgeable, friendly and insightful. Highly recommended. Greatly enjoy the trip and guide. Especially enjoyed the small van and tailored tour.
- Adventure6293928221100Beautiful and Informative! This tour was great start to finish! Matt, our driver/tour guide, was fantastic. Powerscourt was worth the admission fee! Glendalough was beautiful and full of history. I highly recommend this tour!
- nothingventured00Book Hilltop Treks - and book earlyI would highly recommend booking Hilltop Treks - and booking early - to anyone interested Newgrange and/or Nowth. Entrance to both is quite limited and individual visitors must have a car or work through a bus or train, followed by taxi option, that can proove costly and time consuming. With Hilltop Treks, it was so easy. A a small bus takes you from Dublin direct to the visitor center, where the staff guides tours of each site. As a bonus, after leaving g the Neolithic sites, Trek takes you to the Boyne battle site for lunch and optional tour and to St. Bhuite monastery before returning you to Dublin. Our driver-guide was knowledgeable, adding to the experience .
- allusernamestaken200Tour wasn't as shown on websiteWe were supposed to go to Knowth, New Grange, Slane Village and Castle and the village and castle of Trim. We were supposed to stop for lunch in Slane Village at one of Irelands most snug cultured pubs and cafes. We did go to Knowth and New Grange, but not the last 2. Instead we were dropped at a rather boring tiny museum where we had to pay $5.00 if we wanted to go in. Not much to see. The lunch was not snug or cultured, but rather a simple buffet cafe with not enough inside tables for the group. It was too hot to sit outside. From there we made a 15 minute stop at a cemetery and abbey. Our bus was so tiny we had to walk sideways down the aisle and there was no air conditioning. We were melting. Knowth and New Grange were great but I don't know why we weren't taken to the other 2 places but instead were substituted for boring places. I have reached out for a refund but haven't had a response yet.
- Beverly M00Great tour day out of DublinWe went with Gillian. She was great, helpful, interesting, very knowledgeable of all we did and answered lots of questions. It was wonderful to have the reserved entries to the mounds arranged for us. thank you. It was a great day!
- lauracI9723TS00Amazing experience in Wicklow! We had an incredible time with Hilltoptreks! Our guide Terry was amazing, very funny, and very musically talented! The horseback-riding at Killegar stables was so scenic. The woods we rode through were beautiful and all of the horses were so sweet! The stops at P.S. I love you bridge and Loch Tay also made for some incredibly views, and Glendalough was so interesting and peaceful! Overall we had a great experience!
- Tour23332600Fascinating and Inspiring!I am loving all my tours so far and I think I loved this one the most! Johnny is the best - so knowledgeable, funny, and passionate! This is not to be missed - and I wasn’t completely exhausted by the end, which I greatly appreciated. Thank you Johnny!
- Bill M00An absolute "must do" if traveling to Dublin!Guide Gillian was knowledgeable, kind, interactive, and thoroughly professional. It was also appreciated to get away from the City itself and take in some of the beautiful Irish rural countryside, see the rivers, meadows, hills, and livestock.

We had a great time thanks to excellent guide Terry, who told us about history and lore and gave us recommendations. We got to tailor our time at each place to exactly what we wanted (Powerscourt Gardens, Glendalough, lunch).

The 3 stops were great. The gardens were beautiful. We felt we lost out on some of our time at the gardens because we had to go to a horse stable to drop off 8 people who signed up for a riding experience. Lunch was fun. The scenery unique and lovely. Our driver was very nice, but needed more training. We got very little background or historical information. He did not walk with us at any of the locations as we saw other guides did

Thank you Lynda for the feedback .. your guide is with you all day. He doesn't guide you in the gardens and allow you to have free time in Glendalough to walk about the lakes or just relax in the valley.

Our tour guide was Richard. He gave a lot of interesting facts about the nature and the places we passed by, and contributed greatly to our pleasant experience. I would say we had enough time at Powerscort gardens (1.5 hours), which is OK given that the trip around them last about 1 hour. I wish we had a bit more time at Glendalough, we spent 1.5 hours there but we're in some kind of rush to see both lakes and the monastery. Seems like 2 hours would be perfect. Overall, I would recommend, the places and the road to them are very beautiful

We really enjoyed being in a smaller group. Matt, our guide, gave us an extraordinary experience. His knowledge of the area and the stories he can share make the trip one of a kind.

Terry was a great communicator as we planned a private full day tour for 13 of us traveling together. Johnny was our driver/guide who spent the drive sharing interesting facts and stories as we headed out of Dublin and to our planned stops to take in the breathtaking views . He managed our group well, had answers to all of our questions, and got us through some tricky spots on the narrow scenic roads. Johnny was very accommodating though-out our 8 hours together and waited on us to change into our evening attire and then drop us off at our group event away from our original pick up location. We had just the right amount of time at each stop to enjoy the landscape of the mountains, lakes, and gardens in the comfortable mini van provided by Hilltop Treks. What a wonderful day and great company if you’re looking to tour Ireland with an experienced guide!

Perfect compliment to seeing the cities (such as Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Belfast) and navigating large touristy crowds was this excursion to see unforgettably beautiful Wicklow hills, lakes, valleys and mountains. Amazing panoramic views and nice stops for pictures now and then. The leisurely walk through the amazing Powerscourt Gardens was so peaceful and rich. Loved the shops and cafe there as well. Our guide was light hearted and informative and the van / size of our group was comfortable and relaxing. Glendalough site was also quite special. Can’t imagine what a loss it would have been to have missed this—lovely choice for your last day as the pace was gentle and unhurried.

Powerscourt involves walking. Some of the paths are relatively easy, but there are wooded paths that are more difficult.

For our tour, they used a small van that fit about 15 people. The tour was great and you get a lot of time to explore all the sites by yourself, at your own pace. The driver was very interesting himself and knowledgeable. Also stopped in a small village for a lunch break. Great tour!
