Overview

Grab your camera and set out to explore the ‘Garden of Ireland’ on this half-day tour of Wicklow from Dublin. Admire the lakes, mountains and forests of the Wicklow Mountains; visit the monastic ruins of ancient Glendalough and spot filming locations from movies like ‘Braveheart’ and ‘PS I Love You’. You will then continue through the dramatic mountain pass of Sally Gap, before arriving back in the city to end your tour in central Dublin.

What to Expect
Meet your guide in central Dublin and soak up the scenery on the journey south through the Wicklow Mountains, the region nicknamed the ‘Garden of Ireland’. Listen to your guide as you wind through the hills, passing the looming peak of Sugar Loaf Mountain and Roundwood, Ireland's highest village, on the way to Glendalough.

Hop out to admire the magnificent scenery of Glendalough, a glacial valley with two glittering lakes framed by a ring of mountains and dotted with ancient ruins. Follow your guide around the 6th-century remains of a monastic settlement, including a round tower and Celtic cross, and see the locations where scenes from ‘Braveheart’, ‘Vikings’ and ‘PS I Love You’ were filmed.

After around 1.5 hours of free time to stroll around the lakes and capture photos of the babbling brooks and serene woodlands, jump back on the bus for the return journey to Dublin.

Continue through the dramatic mountain pass of Sally Gap, then arrive back in the city and end your tour in central Dublin.

Beautiful scenery

This is a good way to spend a morning. The scenery is beautiful. You walk along a cemetery and two lakes. The tour guide was nice and knowledgeable.

I am sure there is a bus or taxi that would take you from the cruise port into Dublin. I believe it would be a half hour to 40 minutes into the city from there. I know when we left city center and went to the airport it... More
