What to expect
Begin your tour with convenient pickup at your Dublin hotel, where you’ll climb aboard a comfortable tour vehicle and set out into the Irish countryside. Enjoy the scenery and leave the driving to your guide on the way to Kilkenny Castle. Listen to your guide’s commentary on the history of the castle, built in the 12th century on the River Nore. Spend some free time exploring the chambers and the rose garden at your own pace, before heading out into the village of Kilkenny. Stroll the cobblestone streets, taking in sights of the monasteries, cathedrals, and Tudor-style houses. Meet up with your guide for a last stop at the 12th-century St. Francis Abbey Brewery before departing. Back on the bus, head over the picturesque Wicklow Gap into Wicklow Mountains National Park. Keep your camera at the ready and take advantage of the fact that someone else is driving, using that time to snap photos of the dreamy scenery instead. Stop at a local sheep farm to see border collies doing what they do best: herding sheep, a long-standing Irish tradition. Once you reach the glacial valley of Glendalough, take in sights of the glacial lakes and stop at the medieval monastery and tower. After an orientation from your guide, spend a while exploring independently before boarding the bus and returning to Dublin for drop-off.

I love this place
May 2020
As a huge fan of Medieval history, I really enjoy my visits to Kilkenny and Glendalough. The Sheep Dog Trials make for an excellent escape from the city hustle.

Fantastic day out
Antony the guide & sid the driver was brilliant.
Definitely worth the money. Antony was so funny with his leprechaun stories ect,
Nothing was too much trouble, even a unscheduled stop on the way back. Can't wait to try a different trip hopefully in better times.

Absolutely beautiful, favorite tour in Ireland!
Sep 2020 • Family
Sarah was our guide/driver and she was the best we’ve ever had! She had helpful tips every step of the way, we took all of her suggestions and they didn’t disappoint! Glendalough was stunning, most beautiful woodland scenery you can find in the country! Loved the sheepdogs as well, warmed our hearts.

Beautiful and memorable sights!!
The trip to Kilkenny, Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains is a perfect day out of the city. It is not a too far drive and has great views along the way.

Our Guide (Anthony) has interesting tale and information about the areas mentioned and Sidney was a good driver.

Glendalough is a must see - with the amazing lake and green woods.

Thanks Wild Rover Tours.

Great day trip to the country!
Mar 2020
Great little day trip to the countryside, relaxing bus ride out there and some good walking whilst out and about. We enjoyed a nice leisurely loop around the lake at Glendalough. As Border Collie owners and enthusiasts, we really enjoyed the demonstration at the farm! Great information, and you can tell those dogs love to work and the farmer loves his dogs. :) Kilkenny was great as well, wish we would have packed a lunch, since there was limited time there and we would have loved to do more shopping and to take the Smithwick's brewery tour. But, there is about enough time to do the Smithwick's tour and Kilkenny Castle if you're quick about it! Or you can do what we did and get a quick lunch, tour the Castle (or brewery) and do a quick bit of shopping.

Aisling and Sean were great! Very friendly and knowledgable, you can tell they love what they do!

Absolutely amazing day trip.
Mar 2020 • Couples
Me and my girlfriend came to Dublin for st.patricks day but due to the unfortunate covid-19 virus everything was shutting down in Dublin City. So we decided to go on this tour to see some of the country side on the 16th March. We had Nicholas the tour guide and Sidney the driver for the day! They were both amazing guys and really, really informative about absolutely everything on the day trip. Nicholas was playing his ukulele and singing old Irish folk songs to us on the bus to lighten our spirits in the tough times that everyone was going through. There wasn’t a question left unanswered. We learnt a lot about Ireland’s history and Nicholas's story telling was very amusing. I would personally rate the day trip an 11/10. Hats off to Nichols and Sidney for lightening our moods and for a very nice day out!
