- jenniferdJ7471JM00Wonderful tour experience!Hello! We are on our way home from the Blarney Castle tour from Dublin with our guide Phillip. Today has been simply wonderful! Phillip has been amazing, he is friendly, personable and very knowledgeable. He made us feel right at home and that we were safely in good hands. We have been traveling for two weeks and have been on many tours but this has by far been the best one yet! Thank you Phillip for a fabulous day!
- yolantas202300Blarney Castle and Rock of CashelThe visits were timed out perfectly. Our bus driver Barry was AMAZING! Learned a lot of facts about Ireland. Had a great time!
- Connector17018500Winding along through WicklowMy spouse, nephew and I took the Wicklow day tour today and absolutely loved it. Our guide, Keith, was very knowledgeable about Irish history and made the tour both educational and fun. He was extremely witty and interacted well with each person on the tour. The tour offered the perfect number of stops and I feel we had adequate time at each location. Of all the trips/tours we've done, this is by far the best I've ever been on. 5 out of 5 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
- crusingsfun00Late for the tour and gave no informationThis was the worst tour I have ever experienced. The tour was from Dunmore East and was a cruise ship excursion. They have also refused to do any kind of reimbursement. The driver of the bus was one hour late to arrive. There was no explanation for the delay. Then he was absolutely quiet the whole excursion. Never gave us any information about what we were seeing while driving or any information on the sites that we were just dropped off at. Totally unacceptable. Don't understand how they get such good ratings. I'm hoping they will see this review and make some kind of effort to explain what went wrong.
- Inspire53593100Great time on the Blarney tour.We had Barry as our tour guide and driver. He was excellent and certainly did the part of explaining history while driving safely. For the experience, I loved visiting Blarney Castle and kissing the Blarney Stone. It was quite fun. Cashel rock also had lovely views. I didn’t get as much from the Cahir castle but the historic aspect alone is pretty great. So overall, ultimately, it depends on the person, but I myself really enjoyed the experience.
- fozjon00a great way to see the Wild Rugged West of Irelandthis was a bit of an exhausting day trip across from Dublin to the West of Ireland. It started early in the morning. The coach was comfortable, our driver, Barry, did a great job keeping us informed as well as entertained on our journey. It rained at the Cliffs of Moher, a bit. I think that's almost obligatory for this part of the country. We did get some nice photos and it didn't rain constantly. Galway was a nice stop. Nice town.
- subeem00Do Not Book with Irish Day ToursWe were a group of cruisers who had pre booked with Irish Day Tours from our port in East Dunmore. It was supposed to be a guided tour to Kilkenny Castle and St. Canice's. The bus, with only a driver and no tour guide, arrived a little more than an hour late. This was a problem as we were a group of older adults, some of us with mobility issues. We were left standing in a parking area! The driver did not apologize or give any reason as to why he was late. He did not give any explanations of where we were or what we were passing during our hour and a half "road trip" to Kilkenny. When we arrived at Kilkenny Castle, several of us asked the driver where he and the bus would be in case we needed something which we were leaving on the bus. He stated that he would stay with the bus at this exact drop off location. When my husband went back to the bus, about one hour later, to drop of our jackets and get some things which we had left on the bus, there was no sign of the driver. The arrangements made, when we arrived at Kilkenny shortly after 11AM, were that in case any of us didn't want to walk to St. Canice's Cathedral, the bus would remain in the parking spot till 3:30PM when it would depart said location to pick up those of us who had gone to St. Canice's. Imagine our thoughts when we arrived back at the exact spot at 3:10 and our bus wasn't there! It was very scary as we knew that we were a great distance from the port, and if we weren't back by "on board time" the ship would sail without us! This was the worst situation that I have ever experienced ! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BOOK A TRIP WITH IRISH DAY TOURS! You do not need the aggravation that this company can cause!
- louiepreacher00A Sad Excuse Of a Tour ExcursionIf I could have rated a 0 I would have instead of 1. This was a tour from Dunsmore East where our cruise ship docked and werl we tendered. The bus arrived well past an hour late with NO explanation. We also had no guide. The whole excursion was a "comedy of errors" from beginning to end. We were on 8 different excursions during our cruise and this was the only one that seemed "like an after thought" with no preparation for those who were on this excursion. I am an experienced world traveler and have never experienced such a poor excursion in all my travels. Beware of this tour operator.
- LUCKYME7200This Tour was a MessThis tour to Kilkinney (Castle and St Canices) from Dunmore East was a complete mess and I would not recommend using this tour operator (Irish Day Tours) for a tour from Dunmore East from a cruise ship. We had a group of 52 people and originally we had 2 small coaches for 26 people each arranged but it was changed to 1 large coach bus in January 2023, and a number of itinerary changes to make this work. The execution of the tour was very bad. The bus driver was almost an hour late. Because we tendered we had to stand waiting for an hour. The tour operator later explained that they didn’t have a driver /guide available on the day of our tour, so their transport team booked a separate guide for the tour. However, apparently the guide was sick and didn’t tell the bus driver until after he had left and he waited for some time in Dublin. We were so late into Kilkenny that there was not time for a proper restroom/comfort break. We made something work for most people but it was stressful as we were holding up the tour of the Castle which was arranged for a specific time. The bus driver was very nice and tried his best but he was ill equipped for our tour. He gave no explanation for being late or reason that we would not have a guided bus ride. He had no printed vouchers which caused confusion at the Castle. He was able to get the Cathedral one printed so we could use it. He did not talk at all during the drive or when we got to Kilkenny. This is the first time we have ever had a tour with no narrative or explanations provided, and people were very disappointed. It also created confusion at Kilkenny. We were given no maps and the only information people had was the brief tour description the tour operator provided. The tour operator later explained that we were not given maps because “nowadays most people would use their phones to navigate, so it never crossed my mind that you would need any maps.” Well, this is an older group and they don’t use maps on their cell phones and every tour we have been on with so much free time in a city either has a guide to take us around and explain or maps. The tour operator recommended that people walk to St Canices for our arranged visit there at 3pm (we thought it was a guided tour but it was only an entry fee). My understanding is that it was a 10 minute walk and very close. It was 1 kilometer and took from 20-30 minutes depending on the walking ability of some people. Due to the lack of a map, some people went to St Mary's instead and missed out on St Canices. In retrospect it should have been arranged for everyone to be driven to St. Canices and left from there. Instead we called the driver and arranged a pickup there and went back to the original bus stop for 13 people who could not make it. They were very unhappy since they paid for admission and did not get the opportunity to see it. The bus was warm (air conditioning didn't seem to work) on the 1 hour 20 min ride back. That just added more frustration to a group that was already not happy. The above was communicated to the tour operator and we received the explanations provided in my review and an apology (“I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and misunderstanding (about maps being provided)!”). We had 18 private tours arranged for our 2 cruises and this was the only one that was done poorly. After the tour, everyone said it was the most poorly communicated and executed tour, and it was a “mess”. As the tour organizer, it was especially frustrating because I called the tour operator when the bus was late but received no phone call back to get an explanation for the late arrival of the bus and no guided tour. It took a few weeks to find out what happened after I sent an email detailing the problems the day of the tour. I should have been contacted immediately to explain the situation so we could make the necessary adjustments in our plans for the day. Instead it was a very confusing, and chaotic day ending in a very hot and uncomfortable bus ride back to Dunmore East.
- Hu Y00很值得一去The trip is very great! The guide and driver both are very good! It is very worthy.旅程很棒,莫赫悬崖很美。导游和司机都很友好。导游会在车上对景点和爱尔兰的历史进行讲解,坐船看莫赫悬崖也很有意思。
- 865JenniferS00Best Castles in IrelandMy favorite tour of my trip! Our tour guide was awesome! Rock of Cashel Cahir Castle Blarney Stone & Castle Hands down the best 3 castles in Ireland.
- Jean-loup B00Nice day at MoherThe guide and driver was cool, the Moher Cliff are nice to see. The restaurant for lunch was nice too. Burren was maybe too short, from a previous travel i remember some nice roads we didn't see.
- cemanderson00Great TourGerard, our driver/guide, was terrific. While the cliffs were a bit shrouded in fog, Gerard took us down the Atlantic Coast, which was SO amazing. His knowledge of the country, the history, the terrain and the towns was exceptional. Loved the lunch stop at McGann's Pub in Doolin. For a large tour with a bunch of people, this was very well done. Oh - get there early enough to get a seat on the left side of the bus on the top!
- Jullie L00Blarney with JackOur day spent with Jack was awesome! He was incredibly informative and entertaining. His knowledge of the history & area was impressive. I would highly recommend to anyone!!🍀

This was a lovely full day outing to experience the history of Celtic and medieval Ireland. Our group got to visit five different sites, with only one being impacted by Covid (could not go to the hill of uisneach so we went to a lake instead - not much history there, but it was pretty.) Parts of the tour were narrated by the tour guide while others were self guided. Notably, from a practical perspective, each stop had bathrooms readily available.

The Hill of Tara could be considered underwhelming, however with a good guide it is incredibly interesting. The view from there is gorgeous. There is a small cafe / gift shop with light snacks / baked good and drinks.
To access the hill isn’t a hard walk. But it could be strenuous for an older person or anyone that doesn’t do well with steep gully’s. Appropriate shoes make it easier. Will be muddy after rain.
The abbeys/Monastic living ruins are pretty incredible. And as usual, in beautiful settings. Our guide was great at pointing out the “additions” that had been added to the building so you had a better idea of what the building was like when originally built. Most provided gravel walk ways and fairly flat.
Trim Castle is nice. Easy to access. Not much time there and what was close to the castle that we saw, there was not much to do. Full disclosure - we didn’t have time to go more than a block in and over. Medieval town buildings on the streets.
The Loughcrew Passage tomb was amazing. The views are incredible. The prehistoric art and the obvious intentional design is pretty mind boggling. Our guide Rudy, did a great job at setting up the context and providing color with both the lore and what historians have documented. Definitely not a walk for older people or anyone with steep incline issues. The coffee shop is a lovely stop and provides access to the original home and gardens. However if with a tour group that needs lunch it can take a bit of time to get your food so plan for that. Simple but more than sufficient and tasty fare some lovely deserts and coffee tea sodas and wine.

Where to start? We were guided by Connor, who grew up in the Boyne Valley so had some personal and funny insights to share. He was a most excellent guide and we enjoyed his commentary, history, and singing immensely. All the sites we visited were amazing, and he gave us plenty of time to explore each one.
The visit to Loughcrew Cairns was the biggest bit of the adventure. I'm not in the greatest shape, but I managed to climb the very steep and muddy and slippery hill. It's not for the faint of heart, but completely worth it for the views and the history at the top! Just make sure you wear appropriate footwear.
At the end he the trip you go to a private tour of the Hill of Uisneach, the spiritual heart of Ireland. Have fun meeting Marty, but remember he's a true Irishman and the truth will not get in the way of his good tales!
Worth every cent. By far our favorite part of our visit to Ireland. WHEN we get back here, we'll definitely book with this company again.

In typical Irish fashion there was rain, hail, and lots of wind during this amazing tour. I would highly recommend this tour but it is important to be prepared… wear layers of warm clothing, good hiking footwear, and hiking poles if you have them. There was quite a nice variety of tour events including Hill of Tara (ask about the fairy tree!), Trim Castle (where Braveheart was filmed), Loughcrew (amazing old passage tombs), and lastly Fore (ask where the hermit lives). Our tour guide David was a delight and very knowledgeable about Irish history. I learned a lot about great Irish historical events.

A more offbeat tour with an amazing guide. Our guide, Jonathon, picked us up on time and off we went. He was incredibly good as a guide both in and out of Dublin. He talked about the history of Ireland, and Dublin in particular, mixed with a wee bit of politics (not in a bad way at all) on the way out of the city. We got more history from him as we travelled to the Hill of Tara. He took us up the hill and then was so informative about the site. We went on to the Neolithic burial sites at Loughcrew. It is a steep climb up so make sure you’ve got sturdy boots and good lungs. The views were unbelievable and our guide gave us more background on what we were seeing. Off to Trim Castle and a entertaining lecture on medieval armor and weapons, followed by a great lunch and then a final stop at Fore Abbey. More history and stories and some traditional Irish singing from Jonathan saw us home. Even as we pulled into the city, Jonathan continued to provide guidance about places to see, restaurants and pubs to visit. Simply a great tour and a truly outstanding guide. Highly recommend!

This is the weirdest, most unforgettable tour I've ever been on. The sights are what are advertised and if you're interested in Irish history, you'll enjoy it. If you're not interested in our actual experience on the day, skip to the next review.
I've not been on a tour in Ireland before so no source of comparison. Within a few miles of our departure the guide tells us it's his first day with this company and he's not been to Hill of Tara since he was a boy and is looking up the route on Google maps. We miss a turn and end up going on a beautiful rural trip through County Meade. At Hill of Tara we meet this local guy, Peter, who has slept the night outside on the hill. He's very knowledgeable about the area so he does most of the actual narrative. He is pretty hyper and we're trying to decide if he's escaped from a nearby institution, a leprechaun or a free spirit of the earth!
The next we know, he's joining us on the bus all the way to Dublin, with his worldly possessions in tow. He regales us with all sorts of Irish tales, poems and the like. This generated a fair bit of discussion amongst our tour group and inadvertently had us all getting to know each other far more than would normally happen. The responses ranged from unimpressed (especially as Peter hadn't seen soap and water in a while) to this is weird but fun to "is this a co-incidence or was it planned all along?"
For me if I had the choice to do a "normal" tour or this one again, I'd definitely choose this one!!

We went on Jun 9 and our guide was great and knowledgeable. I was surprised there weren’t more people on the tour as I would recommend it for everyone. It was one of the highlights of our trip and I can’t imagine our stay in Dublin without taking this tour to learn some of the fascinating history in the surrounding area.
Didn’t get up to Newgrange with this tour but Loughcrew was an excellent substitute. We had the hill of Tara all to ourselves with some “authentic” weather (it was raining). Pleasantly surprised by the quality and price of the places along the way to get a snack or lunch.
Saw loads of castles and ruins.
Great experience. If you take one tour out of Dublin I would recommend not to miss this one!

Just a quick note to compliment our excellent guide/driver Conor whip filled our time with lovely and informative tales about the history of the Boyne Valley and its inhabitants. And, needs less to say, the sites were well worth the visit if one has any interest in the cultural history of this fair isle. In short, a fervent endorsement of the trip and the guide!

The bus driver reportedly loaded the bus and left the meeting place at 7:30, when the schedule said to meet at 8am. I was 20 minutes early, cab fare was 60 euros to and from my hotel. I was told to apply for a refund by a coordinator who was there for another tour. I was/ am extremely disappointed. I booked the tour on line 3 months in advance. There are other tour providers, don’t rely on this one.

The places and scenery were spectacular. The promise of " legendary guides who will bring your trip to life with wonderful stories" etc was void. Our guide didn't tell us any stories or accompany us to point out features. The tour was rushed. Loughcrew was scheduled to have 2 hours and 30 minutes. They told us to be back in the bus within an hour. Our lunch stop was inadequate as they could not handle the 14 passengers within the allotted 30 mintutes. That tour was logistically rushed and unpleasant. We were back nearly an hour early. 😡

Silly question. I see that lunch is excluded and additionally not listed on the itinerary. Surely they stop somewhere for lunch at your expense. Guessing that the lunch destination may vary from time to time and it isn't listed for the sake of flexibility.

It did not go to Newgrange, but it was a very interesting tour and the driver and tour guides along the way were most enthusiastic and informative of all the sites we visited. We felt steeped in history by the end of the day. We saw and learned much more than if we had tried to go on our own and got a real sense of the spiritual and historical centre of Ireland.

If there's no shuttle, take a cab. It should not be more than a 20 minute ride to the city center, and the tour is a long day but well worth it.
Wear sturdy shoes and bring an umbrella.
And a camera!
