We enjoyed our tour of the Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, Loughcrew, and Fore Abbey. Our tour guide was Derek Nixon. On this tour you will see some of the less "commercialized" parts of Ireland. The morning started out terribly foggy, which hindered our views of the Hill of Tara and surrounding area. I don't fault Irish Day Tours unless they've recently acquired the ability to control the weather. We did manage to see some sheep wandering through the fog. Trim Castle was one of the more impressive castles that we saw during our time in Ireland, mainly because it it is so large. Apparently parts of Braveheart were filmed there; if you're a Braveheart fan then this tour is for you! Loughcrew was interesting; again, no good views due to fog. It was disappointing to learn that Loughcrew used to be covered in white stones and they've almost all been taken. Also, the cairn used to be open a few years back but has since been closed to the public due to concerns over stability. Our favorite part of the trip was Fore Abbey. Basically, it's an Abbey that shouldn't exist but somehow it does. Also helped that the fog had let up by this point. We stopped at a cafe nearby and had a nice chat with the shop owner and some locals inside. As we were arriving back into Dublin to conclude our tour, our guide, Derek, taught us the chorus to, "Molly Malone" and we then we all sang the song.

There's many tours from various companies taking off, so be on time and keep your eyes and ears peeled. Doesn't take much to miss a call in the crowd. We were lucky to have a small group.
There's a lot to see in Boyne Valley. Conor, our guide was from the area and was a walking encyclopedia. He led our small group into a mesmerizing, mythical journey into the rich history of Ireland's mysterious past.
Though things could not run exactly as on the itinerary, I have no complaints as everyone were fun and flexible. We saw Hill of Tara, Trim Castle, Loughcrew, Slane Castle, Slane Hill and Monasterboice. To an uneducated eye, it would have been forgotten pile of weathered rocks and mounds of lumpy earth but Conor brought them to life with the stories, wit and history. High Kings, St Patrick, Druids, Vikings, Celts... And Mel Gibson's Brave Heart! We were transported back in time.
Best to dress for unpredictable (forecast read cloudy), wet, windy, slippery outdoor; we learned the adventurous way as we slipped and rolled down the wet slippery Irish hills.

This was a lovely full day outing to experience the history of Celtic and medieval Ireland. Our group got to visit five different sites, with only one being impacted by Covid (could not go to the hill of uisneach so we went to a lake instead - not much history there, but it was pretty.) Parts of the tour were narrated by the tour guide while others were self guided. Notably, from a practical perspective, each stop had bathrooms readily available.

We went on Jun 9 and our guide was great and knowledgeable. I was surprised there weren’t more people on the tour as I would recommend it for everyone. It was one of the highlights of our trip and I can’t imagine our stay in Dublin without taking this tour to learn some of the fascinating history in the surrounding area.
Didn’t get up to Newgrange with this tour but Loughcrew was an excellent substitute. We had the hill of Tara all to ourselves with some “authentic” weather (it was raining). Pleasantly surprised by the quality and price of the places along the way to get a snack or lunch.
Saw loads of castles and ruins.
Great experience. If you take one tour out of Dublin I would recommend not to miss this one!

One of the coolest day tours I've ever taken! I went in November of 2017 so it was very cold (but that is expected). The history that we were taken to was insane! Loved every minute of that trip. Make sure you dress for the cold depending on when you go. It definitely requires a certain level of physical activity so be prepared to walk. I highly recommend this tour the guide was great and the sites were a once in a lifetime opportunity to go see.

Just a quick note to compliment our excellent guide/driver Conor whip filled our time with lovely and informative tales about the history of the Boyne Valley and its inhabitants. And, needs less to say, the sites were well worth the visit if one has any interest in the cultural history of this fair isle. In short, a fervent endorsement of the trip and the guide!

Where to start? We were guided by Connor, who grew up in the Boyne Valley so had some personal and funny insights to share. He was a most excellent guide and we enjoyed his commentary, history, and singing immensely. All the sites we visited were amazing, and he gave us plenty of time to explore each one.

The visit to Loughcrew Cairns was the biggest bit of the adventure. I'm not in the greatest shape, but I managed to climb the very steep and muddy and slippery hill. It's not for the faint of heart, but completely worth it for the views and the history at the top! Just make sure you wear appropriate footwear.

At the end he the trip you go to a private tour of the Hill of Uisneach, the spiritual heart of Ireland. Have fun meeting Marty, but remember he's a true Irishman and the truth will not get in the way of his good tales!

Worth every cent. By far our favorite part of our visit to Ireland. WHEN we get back here, we'll definitely book with this company again.

Great day tour to a part of the country I did not know yet. Compared to the Infos on the website we did not visit the Hill of Uisneach, but the day was filled with great excursions. David was a perfect driver-guide, very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Finn is a consummate host and storyteller. He managed and anticipated all of our needs. The partially rainy day didn’t dampen our enjoyment in the slightest! We learned a great deal and were entertained the whole while—gaining loads of recommendations for further learning and experience. We loved it!
