      Great experience
The tour that we had to the ring of Kerry was wonderful. Our tour guide, John Todd, was really helpful. He explained thoroughly and clearly what to expect from the sightseeing, the historical context and gave us information to understand Ireland as a country. The bus part of the tour was a bit rushed some times but it helped that John signalled us throughout the tour where the sites and landmarks were coming up or located so we wouldn’t miss them. Overall, a very pleasant and comfortable experience! Would definitely recommend!

      Paddy's the best!
We saw some beautiful country on this tour, but Paddy (our tour guide) is the reason we give it a 5 out of 5. Meeting and spending time with him was one of the best memories made in Ireland. We are thankful for the time.

      Great December tour!
Paddy was our awesome guide and we have a great trip! Beautiful sites, cool towns and a small group. Weather was a little dodgy at the end but that can in December in Ireland!

Fantastic day experiencing the Ring of Kerry
My wife and I were lucky enough to embark on the Ring of Kerry tour with our tour guide John. His enthusiasm in relaying information about the sites and stories of Irish culture was infectious. The views from the tour bus were beautiful and the stops were astounding. The trip was 14 hours but it only felt like a fraction of the time due to stunning Irish countryside and the company that shared in the experience. I highly recommend this tour and can not speak highly enough of our thoughtful tour guide.

      Best tour ever!
My husband I booked the Giants Causeway tour and it was incredible! Definitely a must see if you’re visiting Ireland. We took amazing pictures and it was an experience we’ll never forget. Our tour guide, Paddy, was wonderful! He was with us for 13 hours and made the day so easy. He shared interesting Irish culture and history with us. He was very passionate, enthusiastic, and funny which made for a great day! Also making sure the entire group got into a taxi safely after the tour was over was greatly appreciated! Cannot recommend this company enough!

      Long day
The train is definitely the way to go. The trip is LONG. We left at 7am and got back at 815. Tired and hungry. The museum in Cork took up too much time. We walked to town and found a pub.

Ring of Kerry Rail Tours - Day Trip from Dublin with marathon Legend John Todd
Last Tuesday we had a fantastic Irish Rail day tour (Ring of the Kerry) experience with our Rail tour guide Marathon legend John Todd. John has warmly welcomed us. I've got two of our relatives visiting from India. As usual, the Irish Rail tours are very well planned and best use of time & quality. Our tour guide John was the cherry on the cake.. a true Irish legend. He is not only a tour Guide but a great photographer as well. He has done ~13 Marathons in Ireland, London & Boston with a brilliant PB 02:39. It was an honor to meet such a great person with deep experience of Irish history & Northern Ireland. He shared every single detail with a map of our tour plan from train to bus, Killarney house & garden, and at the end Killarney city walking tour. During the bus ride, he entertained with his jokes, rich Irish culture, and relevant general knowledge of political and social systems. It was an awesome entire day with John and and the team. Would love to do more tours with John and Irish Rail 😊🌄🚄

Day tour from Dublin to The Giants Causeway with Railtours Ireland
We left Dublin Connolly Station with our tour guide Marathon John at the helm heading for Belfast and onward to the Giants Causeway. Bad weather as a result of Storm Babette delayed our progress with a landslip requiring our small group of 6 to transfer to a coach for part of the journey. John organised things brilliantly. Having missed our connection at Belfast station for the tour along the Antrim Coast we were met by a luxury 8 seater Mercedes V class minivan. It was driven my Rodney and his wife, the owners of the coach company. They acted as tour guides on our journey to the lunch stop at the Fullerton Arms on the North Coast. Fuelled by a Guinness and a pie we travelled onward to the Giants Causeway with spectacular views across to the Scottish Isles. John our guide escorted us from the coach down to the causeway. He was very knowledgeable and informative and showed us the best photo stops on the loop down to the sea. Back on the coach Ray our driver took us to Dunluce Castle and the Dark Hedges, both well known Game of Throne Landmarks. That left us just enough time for a 25 minute stop at the Bushmills Distillery for a quick sampling experience in the visitor area. Rebecca from New York, one of our small group on the tour, beat us to cashier and treated us to a tasting tray of 3 shots of the good stuff. Due to rail delays caused by Fridays storm we were keen to get back to Belfast for the slightly earlier 6pm train back to Dublin. Ray our driver cleared it with his boss and we made good time to the station arriving with 5 minutes to spare before departure. On our rail trip back to Dublin John our guide talked to us about the history of the land and its hidden treasures. We had a brilliant day which ended around 9pm on arrival at Connolly Station. A special mention goes to John our guide for the day. He was full of information and facts and our small group had a fabulous day.

Forget the hassle, let this tour take care of you.
They really had it together. We signed up for a six day tour and added two extra days in Dublin. We were met at the airport as arranged and taken to our hotel. Our guide for the first three days was Brian and he was fabulous. Funny and knowledgeable. All our other guides were excellent also. We really saw everything we wanted to without the hassle of organizing it! They did a good job of breaking up the drives at interesting and beautiful stops. The only quibble I had was there was no way to reach anyone outside of regular working hours. Also it would have been nice to have the full detailed itinerary prior to our arrival. They dealt promptly with any questions I had. The hotels were very nice and located centrally. Highly recommend.

Brian our tour guide for most of our trip was the most informative, friendly and lovely gentleman. We learned so much about the country and totally enjoyed our trip. Andrea and Gerry also deserve high praise because they also were amazing. RIT made our trip to Ireland magical. Thank you so much. Will highly recommend this company.

      Ring of Kerry Rail Tour
Jon Todd was an excellent docent. He looked after and guided us through the trip with humor and historical facts. Though it rained the bus driver Bat made the day totally enjoyable. His knowledge and singing were both high lights. I would recommend this trip to all. Scott Nethery

Our guide saved a rainy day
Today was our 5 th rail tour visiting Ring of Kerry. Even though it was pouring rain, our tour guide John Todd and our driver made it fun and memorable. They are both very knowledgeable and gave us great insight and history during the trip. The driver has a beautiful voice and he sang 2 songs for us. Our guide is humorous and the cuddly teddy bear analogy will stay with me forever. Thank you so much.

The tour was advertised as “Railtours Ireland First Class”. As a traveller accustomed to traveling in first class coaches on train trips exceeding 1.5 hours duration I was disappointed that our group of 17 were consigned to a standard rail carriage with other non-railtours travellers. Furthermore the tour was advertised as offering onboard breakfast and dinner options (extra charge) which were not offered. There was a standard trolley service on the morning rail trip Dublin to Limerick offering prepackaged junk food and beverages to buy and I was thankful for the hot coffee. The return trip from Galway to Dublin offered no food or beverage service at all. So a gross misrepresentation of the rail component of the tour. 1/5 for that.
The bus tour component was excellent and the visits en route were most interesting 5/5 for that.
Our guide John Todd did an excellent job of guiding us, keeping us to schedule, and explaining points of interest throughout the tour. 6/5 for his great work and friendly disposition.

This was a great tour if you have to come out of Dublin! By rail and then bus is probably better than the whole thing by coach, the rail portions were more comfortable and you have access to a bathroom. No food though, they should adjust the trip ad-bring snacks.

The Cliffs were fantastic, Bunratty Castle was very interesting, and the Burren was cool. That day the sun came out so the ride through County Claire and along Galway Bay was amazing, and Galway was a really nice city. When the sun comes out in Ireland and you get the full experience of the green landscape is when it hits you how beautiful the place is!

The gate at Galway station was crowded for the last train and a little hectic. The only thing I wish is that there was a train guide leaving Galway like at Hurston station that morning wearing a yellow vest, that would have alleviated a little confusion on which car to board and when, but in the end it was fine and I think the tour guide, Brian made sure we were ok.

Speaking of Brian, he was an amazing guide, knowledgeable, and an all around great and funny guy. He was attentive as possible to needs and had situational awareness of who was with us. Would definitely not hesitate to go on another tour if he led it! That Andy guy though, he could have been better!(inside joke:))

My last suggestion though is, make a tour that skips Bunratty and maybe the Burren stops to give more time at the Cliffs, Doolin for lunch and Galway( Call that the over 40 tour:))My personal opinion, obviously but still a great tour!

My wife and I decided on this one-day excursion from Dublin to see the countryside and visit Bunratty castle and the Cliffs of Moher. We started the day by meeting up with our group (10 people total) along with our guide (Terrence) at the Huesten station at 6:45. One note - if you plan to grab coffee or a small bite at the station, nothing was open when we were there (it was a Saturday). The train ride was nice, we were able to appreciate the views while getting a few more zzz’s. Bunratty castle was very interesting and a good representation of what life would’ve been like then. We had lunch at Gus O’Connors (recommend the fish and chips). Unfortunately, it was raining and foggy when we got to the cliffs, but the visitor center is very nice and modern with lots is info about how the cliffs were formed. There’s a cafe and a gift shop as well. Our guide (Terrence) was excellent, providing humor and interesting info all along the way without being intrusive. He took great care of us and provided great recommendations throughout the day. We wrapped up our adventure with dinner in Galway and then a rather rowdy (sat evening after the horse races) train ride back to Dublin. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and only regret the weather wasn’t more cooperative, but that’s Ireland. Terrence was a major reason we enjoyed the trip to the extent we did. I would recommend avoiding the weekend as I suspect the train ride back to Dublin would be more subdued and relaxing. Plan on not getting back to the train station in Dublin until around 9:45pm. We’ll worth the effort though as we saw and experienced (and learned) so much in one day!

After reading the reviews, we were looking forward to this trip, only to have a lackluster experience.
Traveling from Dublin you then meet up on a bus with a multi day tour that is already in progress, thus the guide already has a rapport with the group and really not welcoming to the new people, that also being said the guide is on the last day of a multi day tour, the enthusiasm is lacking.
One the website it specifically says for lunch you stop at O'Connors Pub in Doolin, after looking at their menu was confident I could eat there, GF items, that is not where we went, we went to another pub that had a limited menu, nothing GF, the pub was a little overwhelmed, by the time my partner got their food, there was only 15 minutes left until departure.
On website states there will be time in Galway to explore, um you get less than an hour, why, because upon arriving to Galway, the bus stops at three different hotels to let off passengers and their luggage. Why not let people not staying in Galway off the bus first? So you sit on the bus for 30 minutes dropping off people at their hotels. With less than an hour to explore and also find something to eat, because you are about to be on a train for 2+ hours, there really is not a lot of free time.

Could not have enjoyed this experience more! We had John as our tour guide and did an amazing job the entire day. We started on the train where he told us about where we would be going and what we would be doing at each stop. They wear very bright yellow jackets so it’s very hard to lose them and never felt that we were going to be left behind. Once we were on the bus he told great stories about each location and had fun with all the passengers. The views were amazing and he was more than willing to take pictures of you and whoever you are with. If you are debating where to stay on your trip I would recommend Galway as it has much more to do and feels much more welcoming to tourists rather than Dublin. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Ireland for the first time or the tenth time!

The trip was planned out meticulously with a detailed itinerary with wonderful sights and facts along the way. Cliffs of Moher and Galway were beautiful, and the time given to us by the tour was plenty, so we were able to see everything we wanted to see. While the tour itself was excellent, what made the experience stand out was our lovely tour guide, John Todd. He was incredibly helpful, providing facts about Ireland that only someone who loves where they live would know. John made us feel safe and cared for, even going as far as to take us to the tram and show us how to purchase tickets. He even brought out a map to show us which stop would bring us closest to our hotel. He genuinely wanted everyone to have a good experience and having him as a guide ensured that. I would give anyone a recommendation to book this tour if they’re going to Ireland. If you are fortunate enough to have John as your guide, you will not be disappointed. We were lucky enough to go on two separate tours with him.

We had a great one day trip to the Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle, the Burren and Galway organized by the Railtours Ireland on 18th June 2022. We took the 7.00 AM train Heuston station and were properly guided by the Railtour officials. Had to change a train at Limerick junction ( that was just a hop away on the same platform) and then got down at Limerick. From there we had a bus to take us throught to Bunratty castle, Cliffs of Moher, The Burren Limestone rocks and then to Galway. Having spent good time at each of these places, we took the direct train from Galway to Heuston ( Dublin) and reached at around 10PM. The guide Terrence had the typical Irish gift of gab and struck a good converstaion with us through the journey.
The amazing greenery in Ireland, the breathtaking views of the Cliffs of Moher , the historical significance of Bunratty castle and the ice-age creation of Burren limestones remain in our memories after having come back to India.
A hearty thanks to the friendly Irish people to make this trip a memorable one.

Our Journey started at 7 a.m. we met at the Heuston Station in Dublin (make sure you arrive at least 15 mins for departure) there were multiple guides waiting for us in Yellow jackets. They gathered everyone and escorted us to our cable car.
Once on the Train we were assigned a guide, out guide’s name was John and it was his birthday!

John was one of the best guides we’ve ever had! He was very tentative and efficient. Before our first stop he made sure to go over the entire trip, pulled out a map and showed up the lunch menu so he could pre order our lunch in Limerick, which was amazing by the way!
(Lunch not included in tour price)

Since this was an all day tour we had a few transfers along the way and John was there to make sure everyone made it promptly. Now I know this is a tour guides job but he did it with such care you felt safe.

After lunch we headed to the Cliffs and it was one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen! We had about 1.5 hrs so John advised us on how to maximize our time which helped tremendously!

After Cliffs we had a short stop in Burren a small rocky beach with ancient history.

Last stop was Galloway a very nice city with restaurants and shopping! We were there for a couple of hours and then headed back to Dublin.

Overall this trip was amazing, it’s nice to have a tour guide with so much knowledge and who actually cares about each individual group member. I highly recommend this tour and advise you request John with Railtours Ireland first class!

This is a full day experience that offers multiple stops to see several towns and natural sites. We enjoyed the variety and comfort that traveling on the train provided. Our tour guide, Terrence, was very knowledgeable about Irish history and offered up loads of information as we toured from city to city. Although it is a long day (15 hours), we felt that the trip was well worth it in terms of visiting multiple cities in Western Ireland and, of course, visiting the awe-inspiring Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle and the Burren. We were so glad that we were not driving ourselves and happy to leave the transportation to the tour. Although some may want more time in each town, there are only so many hours in the day and the tour covers a lot of miles, er I mean kilometers, so just anticipate. If you want more time in the gift shops or town, then make adjustments to how you spend your time.

This is my first time to Ireland so I had to see the Cliffs of Moher. Through this trip though, I also discovered Burren. It is where a glacier went into the ocean and left behind many rocks and formations and it was beautiful. We had a great guide, Brian, who has a great sense of humor and vast knowledge of the history of Ireland. You could tell he was very proud of his country. He also kept us on time. The train was a train. Brian helped us switch off at our points. The bus was comfortable and cool. It has excellent air conditioning and usb chargers (it was a long day gotta charge those phones). My son and I both really enjoyed the day. It was a long day. But fun.
