This was a great tour if you have to come out of Dublin! By rail and then bus is probably better than the whole thing by coach, the rail portions were more comfortable and you have access to a bathroom. No food though, they should adjust the trip ad-bring snacks.

The Cliffs were fantastic, Bunratty Castle was very interesting, and the Burren was cool. That day the sun came out so the ride through County Claire and along Galway Bay was amazing, and Galway was a really nice city. When the sun comes out in Ireland and you get the full experience of the green landscape is when it hits you how beautiful the place is!

The gate at Galway station was crowded for the last train and a little hectic. The only thing I wish is that there was a train guide leaving Galway like at Hurston station that morning wearing a yellow vest, that would have alleviated a little confusion on which car to board and when, but in the end it was fine and I think the tour guide, Brian made sure we were ok.

Speaking of Brian, he was an amazing guide, knowledgeable, and an all around great and funny guy. He was attentive as possible to needs and had situational awareness of who was with us. Would definitely not hesitate to go on another tour if he led it! That Andy guy though, he could have been better!(inside joke:))

My last suggestion though is, make a tour that skips Bunratty and maybe the Burren stops to give more time at the Cliffs, Doolin for lunch and Galway( Call that the over 40 tour:))My personal opinion, obviously but still a great tour!

My wife and I decided on this one-day excursion from Dublin to see the countryside and visit Bunratty castle and the Cliffs of Moher. We started the day by meeting up with our group (10 people total) along with our guide (Terrence) at the Huesten station at 6:45. One note - if you plan to grab coffee or a small bite at the station, nothing was open when we were there (it was a Saturday). The train ride was nice, we were able to appreciate the views while getting a few more zzz’s. Bunratty castle was very interesting and a good representation of what life would’ve been like then. We had lunch at Gus O’Connors (recommend the fish and chips). Unfortunately, it was raining and foggy when we got to the cliffs, but the visitor center is very nice and modern with lots is info about how the cliffs were formed. There’s a cafe and a gift shop as well. Our guide (Terrence) was excellent, providing humor and interesting info all along the way without being intrusive. He took great care of us and provided great recommendations throughout the day. We wrapped up our adventure with dinner in Galway and then a rather rowdy (sat evening after the horse races) train ride back to Dublin. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience and only regret the weather wasn’t more cooperative, but that’s Ireland. Terrence was a major reason we enjoyed the trip to the extent we did. I would recommend avoiding the weekend as I suspect the train ride back to Dublin would be more subdued and relaxing. Plan on not getting back to the train station in Dublin until around 9:45pm. We’ll worth the effort though as we saw and experienced (and learned) so much in one day!

We had a great one day trip to the Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle, the Burren and Galway organized by the Railtours Ireland on 18th June 2022. We took the 7.00 AM train Heuston station and were properly guided by the Railtour officials. Had to change a train at Limerick junction ( that was just a hop away on the same platform) and then got down at Limerick. From there we had a bus to take us throught to Bunratty castle, Cliffs of Moher, The Burren Limestone rocks and then to Galway. Having spent good time at each of these places, we took the direct train from Galway to Heuston ( Dublin) and reached at around 10PM. The guide Terrence had the typical Irish gift of gab and struck a good converstaion with us through the journey.
The amazing greenery in Ireland, the breathtaking views of the Cliffs of Moher , the historical significance of Bunratty castle and the ice-age creation of Burren limestones remain in our memories after having come back to India.
A hearty thanks to the friendly Irish people to make this trip a memorable one.

This is a full day experience that offers multiple stops to see several towns and natural sites. We enjoyed the variety and comfort that traveling on the train provided. Our tour guide, Terrence, was very knowledgeable about Irish history and offered up loads of information as we toured from city to city. Although it is a long day (15 hours), we felt that the trip was well worth it in terms of visiting multiple cities in Western Ireland and, of course, visiting the awe-inspiring Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty Castle and the Burren. We were so glad that we were not driving ourselves and happy to leave the transportation to the tour. Although some may want more time in each town, there are only so many hours in the day and the tour covers a lot of miles, er I mean kilometers, so just anticipate. If you want more time in the gift shops or town, then make adjustments to how you spend your time.

I am traveling with my parents who are 70+ years old and decided to take them on a rail tour since many buses don't have restrooms. I'm so glad I paid the additional cost for rail instead of the bus! While it was an early start (07:00 departure) the train ride was quite comfortable and the directions to check in were very clear. One thing to note is that breakfast isn't really available on the train. The cafe car is quite busy so unless you make a reservation ahead of time, the only thing available is the cart that goes up and down the train aisles that offers a very modest selection of pre-packaged baked goods, coffee, tea, and sandwiches. The Heuston train station itself has a decent selection of coffee/tea, deli, and a fast food place where you can purchase food ahead of time if you don't have breakfast included in your tour package.

Onto the tour! Our tour guide, David, was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout the entire day, which was quite long since we returned to Dublin at the end of the tour. It was well paced with a great lead-up to the headliner, the Cliffs of Moher. Bunratty Castle was a delightful surprise with an entire medieval village on its campus. The castle itself was quite impressive on the inside and the quick tour we're given provides great context before you're given time to explore.

Then there's the ride up the coast to Galway. We visited in the middle of January when the sun goes down around 16:45 so we had a nice view for the beginning of the ride and a dusk view (which certainly wasn't bad) for the remainder. There were opportunities to quickly hop off of the bus for photo opps at scenic points along the way.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this tour!

Tour was well organized and the tour guides were top notch, very knowledgeable and friendly. Really enjoyed the whole trip, especially the Cliffs of Moher and our lunch stop in Doolin. Additionally, we were very blessed with fantastic weather at the Cliffs and got the added bonus of wildflowers all over the Barren.
I was a little bit disappointed with the delays in dropping off the other tour groups that joined our group at their hotels (3 different hotels!) in Galway, this process took nearly an hour and we ended up with barely an hour left to explore the city before our train left for Dublin. Maybe drop the day tours off first and then loop back to drop off the hotel guests?
Still a very worthwhile tour that I fully recommend.

This is my first time to Ireland so I had to see the Cliffs of Moher. Through this trip though, I also discovered Burren. It is where a glacier went into the ocean and left behind many rocks and formations and it was beautiful. We had a great guide, Brian, who has a great sense of humor and vast knowledge of the history of Ireland. You could tell he was very proud of his country. He also kept us on time. The train was a train. Brian helped us switch off at our points. The bus was comfortable and cool. It has excellent air conditioning and usb chargers (it was a long day gotta charge those phones). My son and I both really enjoyed the day. It was a long day. But fun.

A great time! The scenery was fantastic, and our guide Brian told a lot of fascinating stories about Irish culture and history. There was a driver for the bus, John, who did a great job. The tour started at 6:40 AM at the train station. When we got there at 6:10, the greeter was already there with a yellow RailTours jacket on. Then another greeter got on the train with us and made sure we changed trains when we should! So helpful. The bus was quite new and comfortable. We could leave our backpacks on the bus while walking around the sites. Cliffs of Moher were stunningly beautiful. Got back to Dublin on the train at 9:45 PM, and Brian was with us the whole time to make sure we were fine. Highly recommend!

My parents and I took this tour in early March and had an absolutely amazing experience! From the very beginning, we were well looked after. We were a little nervous at the start about trying to find the meeting point at a busy railway station, but Railtours Ireland had a very visible stand for us to check-in at. From there on, the guided us through everything. Our tour guide, David, met with every group on the tour during our train ride and explained the itinerary and gave a little more context to what we were going to see. When we transfered to the motor coach, David was very informative about the little towns and areas we were going through. As our tour was running well for time, David even took us to great spot in Doolin to get amazing pictures of the Cliffs of Moher from a perspective you wouldn't get while standing on the Cliffs. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough! The tour itself was well-paced and our guide made the tour all the more amazing! We had a phenomal time and would encourage anyone visiting Ireland to take a tour with Railtours Ireland!

This tour was one of the most poorly organized tours we have ever been on. We were a group of 14 with children. We started out late and it was downhill from there. Lunch break was packed and nowhere to sit for all of us let alone the children. An area should have been reserved for our group. There was only 45 minutes to find a seat and eat and it was a disaster. Bunratty Castle stop worked out ok as well as the Cliffs of Moher. Galway which everyone was looking forward to was another disaster where we thought we had at least 90 minutes to walk around Galway, shop and eat and ending up having less than 40 minutes. Could not have dinner anywhere-was told to get a pizza in the supermarket that was already closed anyway. Getting back on the train ride home was a total mess. We were told to sit in a section and then another tour group came in and started arguing that they paid for the seats we were sitting in. Well we paid quite a bit as well for the seats and this went on for 15-20 minutes and very upsetting to our group at the end of a very long not so fun day. Part of our group volunteered to move so the argument would stop.
Terrance was our guide. He did the best he could do, however, this was nowhere worth the money. More on the bus and train then able to enjoy the stops. I do not recommend this until they get their act together. There were two other tours that were taken not through this tour company and they were phenomenal.
