The trip was well-organised so we didn't have to worry about anything. The wild nature of the western coast is amazing and visits to sites like the Cobh heritage center added to our understanding of Irish history and culture. Our guide Jonathan is a historian and his humor combined with in-depth knowledge made the whole experience more than worthwhile. Even my 13-year old son never missed a thing Jonathan said.

Wow! I cannot say enough great things about our experience on Railtours Ireland! Our tour guide Brian was the absolute best and told the most amazing stories and history. We learned about the history of Ireland, leprechauns, and fairy trees all while driving through the beautiful Irish countryside! The trains were efficient and the buses were able to get us closer to all the beautiful sights along the coast. This being our first time in Ireland, we really wanted to see everything without having to rent a car. We are so happy we chose the rail tour because we got to see everything and learn so much along the way. We especially loved Blarney castle and the cliffs of Moher even if it rained the whole day! Everything was so well organized and perfectly timed. So glad to have not had to book all the excursions and transportation on our own. Again, tour guide Brian was easily the most fun part! I hope we can take another tour in the future!

The tour with Railtours Ireland was really well planned and very enjoyable. We had a great guide, Andy, and we stopped at some really unforgettable places. However, since I booked the tour with Viator/Trip Advisor, my 10 year old daughter and I were dropped off (by ourselves) at a disgusting B&B a mile outside of the town of Killarney. All the other guests stayed in town at a 4-star hotel. The B&B was next to a gas station and an Electrical supply company. The owner was in his underwear and there was not a single other occupied room. The common area was their personal home and they had a hording situation in the living room. It was 90 degrees out and they had no air conditioning. I immediately called our guide who said there was nothing he could do since we booked with Viator. I felt scared for my personal safety so I walked a mile into town with my daughter and all our luggage and checked into a hotel. I spent an additional $300 on a hotel. I would expect Viator, at a minimum, to reimburse me the amount of the B&B since it was uninhabitable and we did not stay there. Viator/Trip Advisor refused to refund any amount of the trip. I am protesting the charge on my credit card. Take the trip, just don't book with Viator.

First off let me give praise to Bob, who met and greeted us in Dublin & took us to Cork & Cobb. Bob was also present on our return tour from Limerick to the Cliffs of Moher and back to Dublin. Bob was full of interesting facts and presented the material as though he were present when it was happening. He was humorous and a true gentleman. Another excellent tour guide was Morice, Rings of Kerry. Morice again was factual and funny; totally entertaining and polite. Margaret sat on the train with us for a short time and escorted us to Killarney and she was very nice. I only raise two concerns that should be corrected; 1. The van drive to Limerick from Killarney was very tight & too long. We were packed in like sardines. .In addition, we had a bus from Limerick that had a very loud motor and the microphone did not work properly. Bob attempted to carry on like the professional he is, but the only people able to hear him were those of us directly in the first few seats. Overall a great tour with great guides, and attention to detail, like the storage of luggage for safe keeping and escorts throughout.

My wife and I recently had the opportunity to go on this tour and it was well worth it. Our tour guide, Johnathan Beaumont, really made the trip for us. Our group was small; about 10 people most of the time. This really gave John a chance to get to know everyone. That combined with his vast historical knowledge of Irish history really enriched the experience; especially for my wife who is of Irish descent. I highly recommend Johnathan for any touring you are considering in Ireland, he is truly one of the best you could hope for!

Found this trip that took us to all the sites we wanted to see - truly carefree as they say, without having to worry about researching, planning, driving, the weather, the roads, hiring, coordinating, or anything else! They run a tour which is fun, relaxed and social, yet flawlessly precise and well-organized! You feel like they've done this a million times before - but also like you're the one they're all attending to! The sites we saw were truly spectacular. The guides were all phenomenal, and made all the difference in the world! A very special shout-out to Andy who was witty, personable and extremely knowledgeable, as well as to Ray from Deros's, and Batt!

What a fantastic experience! The trip was seamlessy organized and flawlessly executed. All accommodations, meal stops and points of interest visited were outstanding! I'd give Railtours Ireland six stars if I could. A special shout out to our guide Peter MacDonnell who did an absolutely incredible job leading us on such a memorable experience! He did a wonderful job ensuring everything went well and did a brilliant job while touring with a perfect mix of history, local lore, information about the sites and points of interest, humor, poetry, music and ... silence. It is obvious he loves his job and it translates clearly. Search no further, book now, you won't regret it!!

Most of my review is focusing on the tour itself and not the sites necessarily. First, our tour guide and coach drivers were top notch! Tour guide was Jonathan and I can’t imagine there is a better tour guide out there. He was incredibly knowledgeable and took care of us every step of the way. He put our comfort and interests at the top of his priority list and that was greatly appreciated.

I am only giving 4 stars though because I feel “Rail tours” is a bit of a misnomer. We spent the vast majority of our time on a coach bus, which is about as uncomfortable as it gets. Granted the tour buses were great quality, I just don’t find bus rides comfortable, especially with a full bus. Now, I get that most of the sites we saw are not directly accessible by train, but going between cities via train would have been preferable.

Additionally, there was at least one morning that was super early and ended super late. And the timing of meals was few and far between.

I do think it would be beneficial if there was a more detailed itinerary made available before travel so we could sufficiently plan ahead. The tour guide does a great job summarizing the plan the day before, but I would have loved something in writing before the trip with details.

Overall a great adventure and wonderful tour experience. We will do again but likely stick to day tours.

Such a wonderful trip! We couldn't help but become immersed in the culture. No one can paint a picture quite like Jonathan. His love for the history, stories, and culture makes this such a genuine experiance. He continually went above and beyond to make our trip unforgettable. Thank you Jonathan!
