        Our Whirlwind Tour
Our trip was a handcrafted whirlwind trip around much of The Republic of Ireland and some of Northen Ireland. Mr. Henry was The Best Guide!! Truly an answer to prayers!! My family cried when it was time to say good-bye after 7 days with him. No other driver in Ireland came close to the welcoming, knowledge, or care given by Henry Doohan. He was smiling at 5am when our flight arrived an hour early. He was spot on with weather, directions, options, and the "Frozen" car seat for our 5 yr. old. And even when we, or the weather, threw in curve balls and monkey wrenches he smiled and made our trip incredible. And when much of our cash was placed and then forgotten in the pocket of the van door at the end of our time together, Mr. Henry called us to figure the best way to return it. Four members of the family had returned to the USA. My husband and I stayed another 10 days using a rental car. THANKS to Mr. Henry's sharing of the traffic laws and nuances of Irish driving, we continued to have a fabulous adventure.

Would recommend Henry. Pick up & return Dublin. Saw many sites on our two days of touring and found the location of house where my mother was born in 1910. He seems very knowledgeable about Donegal.

        A Craic time with Henry
We spent a week with Henry and made a circle tour from Dublin, to Galway, to Kinsale in the south, then to Waterford and back to Dublin. Henry managed to work in and advise us on all the sites we wanted to visit. His assistance in managing the timing of our travel between locations was outstanding. He was also very knowledgeable, as you would expect, but more importantly very interesting in the way he informed us of his beloved country. We wanted a rather laid back tour which we achieved, but we also saw many interesting locations and he gave us time to explore. His driving was exceptional as was his coach. It was always spotless (even between stops he cleaned it). He's a personable and well-informed guide. Our group ranged in age from 40 to 74 and we all enjoyed this tour which was only made better by using the services of Donegal Tour Guide. We all agreed we highly recommend this company and Henry specifically.

        Best Tour of Ireland!
My husband and I were touring Ireland via a cruise ship and 3 ports were cancelled due to inclement weather and substituted with other cites, the last one was Greencastle. I was scrambling to find something to do just like all the other passengers and we were so grateful to have found Henry. Henry picked us up at the port and we immediately started our wonderful day sightseeing some breathtaking views of North Ireland. Henry is such a delight, he is very knowledgeable, very compassionate and a great sense of knowing just what the tourist want to see and do. I highly recommend any of the tours that Henry has, you will not be disappointed.

        Donegal Tour Guide was Amazing!
At the recommendation of family members who had retained Donegal Tour Guide in 2022, my friends and I booked Henry as our guide and driver for a recent visit to Ireland and Northern Ireland. He provided transit from Dublin through Belfast and Ballycastle into Donegal, then we did both the Malin Head/Inishowen and Slieve League tours, with final transit to Knock. He made the experience an exceptional one. In our five days together, he took as to places that we'd have never discovered had we traveled on our own, and he gave us insights and back-stories that tour books don't provide. His knowledge, wit, engaging personality, and ability to "read the crowd" were truly a treasure. By the time he dropped us off at our final destination, we felt as if we were saying goodbye to a dear friend. Don't do Donegal without him!

        Henry D... '5 STARS'
Henry was phenomenal...highly recommend!! We had 5 people in our trip and the private chauffeur was absolutely worth every penny! Henry is a wealth of information and was able to help us tweak our itinerary as we went along, to ensure we didn't feel rushed, which was much appreciated. He was a great help planning and conforming each day in advance, so were all on the same page. Henry was more than a driver to us, he was a trusted tour guide and friend. I can't say enough about how wonderful our week was with Henry; he is kind, witty, and caring. Next time we return to Ireland, we will be booking Henry...Amazing service! The Lynch crew

Connecting to the places of my ancestors
Spent a lovely day with Henry during my July visit to Donegal touring many of the small townlands on the Inishowen peninsula that played a part in my Irish family's history. Henry is a wonderful guide and shares his love and knowledge of Donegal freely. It was a great custom tour and we highly recommend his services. Thank you Henry!!!🙂

A Day to Remember for a Long Time
Without a doubt, my day out touring with Henry was the highlight of my trip to Ireland. I traveled to Donegal with a mission in mind – to spend a day experiencing the area around Lough Swilly and Inch Island as my mom’s family may have done before coming to America. Several decades earlier, I had helped my mom locate her last few very elderly relatives who stayed and it meant the world to her. With that memory, I wanted to return to gain a deeper context for the stories of my mom’s family. Henry was amazing! He very thoughtfully considered my objective and came up with a plan that took us up to Grianana Aileach first for the incredible vista across Lough Swilly to Lough Foyle and from Inch Island across to Derry – where my mom’s cousins were from. The view was nothing short of majestic, and its impact will stay with me for a very long time. Then on to Inch itself for a drive through while I captured video of life as it is today on the island. Later in our day when Henry mentioned he had worked on documentaries, I wasn’t surprised. His talent and expertise set the stage for me to experience a personal and very meaningful documentary of my family’s history in Donegal. Henry had great suggestions to follow after we headed north. I loved the town of Buncrana and learned quite a bit at the Doagh famine village. The Magic Road on the way to Malin Head was unique, and of course the scenery was grand at Fort Dunree, at the Star Wars movie site, and at Malin Head. Henry was very patient (hello – husbands out there!) as I took my time absorbing and capturing the incredible beauty at each stop. Plus, it was just a lot of fun to ride with Henry and catch up on the issues of the day in contemporary Ireland. My most recent trip had been in 2018, so I have a small perspective on how it has changed over the decades and I’m always interested in being properly informed by the people who are living it day to day. If you make the effort to visit Donegal, you would be remiss in not relying on Henry’s expertise to thoroughly enjoy Donegal!

        Private Airport Transfer
We took a private transfer from the Dublin airport to Ballyliffin. Henry was on time and very professional. He helped us with the bags and explain the history and context of county Donegal along the way. I would highly recommend him to others.

Added Value to our Trip…Worth it in Every Way
Henry proved a fantastic tour guide. We had a customized take on the Glenveagh Tour for my husband and I and two 18 year-olds. I reached out to Henry directly in the Winter of 2022 to inquire about the Inishowen tour with an interest in family ancestry and natural sights and a special request to meet with someone working in salmon restoration if possible, something my husband and I have been involved with for Pacific Salmon for our whole careers and about which we remain passionate. I suspect learning about local fisheries was a first for Henry, but he knew just who to call… he found Pat from Buncrana Angler’s Association who has worked in fisheries and habitat restoration for years. We would never have found such a connection without his help and our trip was greatly enhanced because of it. I doubt Henry was prepared for how much fish people can talk once they get onto the topic and it derailed us from our schedule at the get go. It hardly mattered. We thoroughly enjoyed the meeting and the weather turned so we kept editing the trip as we went. But, in the end we did two of things my husband and I most wanted to do, meet with someone who could share information on local fisheries restoration and a whiskey tasting at a local distillery, in this case, The Crolly Distillery, which was excellent. Henry nailed both connections and we would never have gotten there on our own. He also helped us sketch out the next couple days itinerary we could do on our own in the rental car. The sights were amazing despite the rain, but just as great was spending the day with Henry. It was a true pleasure to visit with him for the day, it felt like we should have ended the day at the Pub with our new friend. Henry’s knowledge of the area, of current events there, enthusiasm, and ability to engage all four of us in conversation is a true talent. This day proved one of the highlights of our week and a half in Ireland.

Henry was fabulous in helping us set up our tour. We ended up with Tommy as our driver and had a great time with him. Highly recommended. If you're trying to decide whether to tour Donegal or not, absolutely you should. AN INSPIRATION TOUR OF DONEGAL
We spent 2 days with Henry touring Donegal and we have to say he could be one of the best tour guides we have ever encountered. With deep roots in that area he can take you places and talk about its history as if you were traveling with a proud family member. Your admiration for and appreciation for the Irish people and their heritage will only be enhanced. A special occasion you need to incorporate into any trip to Ireland.

        Perfect way to tour Donegal
This was the perfect way to see Donegal for us. We spent a full day and half with Henry as our guide and he was just great. By the time we got to Donegal we had done a lot of driving on our own, so we were glad to have a comfortable, modern van to drive in with a local driver. This was the tour we took on the second day, focusing on the national park and the northern coast. Henry was a wonderful guide in all respects – he took us to the most interesting places, knew people everywhere we went, could answer every question we asked, and was a lively conversationalist. He also shared his experience growing up in Donegal and now raising a family with his wife, which gave us insights we otherwise would not have had. Also, he is a good driver who knows the roads, so we felt safe.

Donegal is absolutely a hidden gem of Ireland. The scenes of Sliabh Liag Cliffs, Fort Dunree and Malin Head are breathtaking and majestic. Riding on winding roads through lovely fields and magnificent slopes with Henry is an unforgettable experience for us. Henry is an amazing tour guide with intimate knowledge of Donegal’s history, culture, community, and of course stunning spots. First greeting us with a playlist of Vietnamese songs to make us feel at home, he carefully explained the tour in advance. He was also very kind in telling us interesting facts about each place and answering our questions (despite some silly ones :D ) about local customs along the way.
Thanks for a great trip in Donegal!
I will definitely book another tour with Henry if I visit Donegal next time.

The tour itself was a very immersive experience. The tour guide was a lovely gent who drove smoothly and explained the journey very well beforehand in which we understood and knew what was to be expected for the day. Everything was hassle-free and comfortable.

100% would recommend to anyone who stays in an Airbnb or if transportation would be a problem as they offer collect and drop off services.

My parents and I had a full day tour with Henry in early June. Henry was a great guide. We had sent him some information prior to our trip about distant relatives who lived in the area. He was able to find their homes and we got to see the land that my great great grandmother grew up on. After that, we left the itinerary for the day up to Henry and he gave us a great tour, including taking us to the Slieve League cliffs. Booking Henry for your trip to Ireland is absolutely worth it as it allows Henry to take care of the driving and everyone else can sit back and enjoy the views. In addition, Henry is a wealth of knowledge and you really learn a lot!

It's grand when the tour comes to an end and you are happy, because it was such an marvelous experience, and sad, because you don't want it to be over. I so enjoyed every kilometer and every bit of conversation. Henry is what I would craft in the making of a tour guide: deep knowledge of the land, wry humor, a storyteller / chronicler / narrator / poet.

We had an amazing time in Donegal. Henry, Tommy, and the team gave my family an awesome tour. Henry and is team are professional, knowledgable, and fun. We learned some much about Donegal and would highly recommend his services to anyone looking to explore Ireland. We loved seeing Sliabh Liag, Glencolmcille, and other important areas of Donegal. They knew where to stop for pictures, important facts about each area, and the rich history of Ireland. We were so happy with our tour and time spent in Donegal.

My two adult daughters and I had an absolutely wonderful time spent with Henry Doohan. He picked us up at Dublin airport and drove us to Donegal; the next day he toured us around South Donegal; and the last day found the gravesite of our Scotch-Irish ancestors in a falling down abbey near Manorcunningham before taking us back to Dublin.
I highly recommend Henry! He's personable, funny and knowledgeable as well as a great driver.

Henry took us on a private tour. We went to Donegal Castle and Slieve League Cliffs. We stopped in a local shop and the employee showed us how they make the Irish Tweed.
We also stopped along the way for photo opportunites and for lunch. I would highly recommend Henry as your tour guide. He went above and beyond to show us a good time. We never felt rushed in any of the places we visited. He is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the area. Henry even dropped us off at the Shopping Center at the end of the tour as we had time before our bus was departing. I hope our paths cross again Henry. Thank you again! Linda and Kaitlyn

All we can say is what a brilliant tour guide Henry is and a fantastic service that he provides. We had a brilliant day from start to finish, Henry was prompt on time and the vehicle was immaculate and so comfortable. Henry was very knowledgeable about the area and provided us with information for our youngest daughter on where to go to look for rocks/gemstones and crystals, Henry was extremely patient with my dad who has trouble walking and provided the upmost care for my dad (Grandad) and all of us. It was a great way to see places and learn more about Donegal/Inishowen. If you are in the area do yourself a favour and book Henry you really will not be disappointed. We also learned from Henry the correct way to say Sliabh Liag after many failed attempts!

Hi David, It was my pleasure taking you all around South Donegal. Grandad is a gentleman and was great company, as were you all. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review on TripAdvisor and Facebook. I really appreciate it. Take care, Henry

What a great experience! Highly recommended. Henry arrived on the minute and collected us at our hotel. His vehicle is clean, super comfortable and cool (it was a very hot day). Setting out on our tour, Henry made sure we were comfortable, asked if we had any requests and off we went. I appreciated him going off the beaten path sometimes to show us beautiful, breathtaking sights like Malin Beg. He has an excellent knowledge of Donegal, the community and the culture, and shared that throughout. Henry had arranged a great picnic lunch for us as well which we enjoyed at Sliabh Liag. We will definitely be booking a future tour with Henry. Thank you!
