Kerri our guide was absolutely terrific . . . so knowledgeable, engaging, fun and a pleasure to spend time with! :) From enjoying fabulous food spots throughout Kinsale to learning the incredible history of such a cool town - we enjoyed every minute!!!Written 20 October 2024
- Kenneth M0 contributionsA Beautiful and Delicious Day in Kinsale!Four of us had only a day to explore Kinsale, and we were very fortunate to have chosen this tour. First and foremost, our tour guide Kerry couldn’t have been nicer, more interesting, and more knowledgeable! Each of our five stops offered a different tasting experience - in each case, a table was waiting for us and we were offered a special selection of delightful food and drink. The tastings were all very local and very fresh, and memorable. In between stops, we were able to explore the beautiful and historic Kinsale in a relaxed fashion, with Kerry’s warm conversation and informative descriptions. Definitely the best way we could have spent our day in Kinsale!Written 12 September 2024

She was accommodating to part of the group that arrived late and did all that she could behind the scenes to make sure the tour went smoothly. What a wonderful experience. Frances of Bonner Travel could not have planned and executed a more thoughtful and memorable tour.
The tour started on time and there seemed to be an endless supply of food tastings. Definitely go hungry! There were only four of us on the tour which I loved since we had time to talk and get to know one another.
If you are cruising into the port of Cobh, Ireland, I suggest taking the train located a few feet from the ship into Cork. The train ride is 25-30 minutes and the cost round trip per person was approximately 9 Euros. From the Cork train station it is a 15 minute walk to the tour meeting place. There are taxis, but it was a beautiful sunny day so we opted to walk. France’s made sure that we ended the tour with enough time to make our ship’s 3:30pm all aboard time.
My husband and I are looking forward to taking other tours with Frances in the future as she offers tours in other countries.
Thank you Frances for a memorable experience!

Our culinary tour in Cork was one of the highlights of our Ireland trip. Amanda provided an information packed tour. She grew up in Cork and provided so much information about the city and its history as we traveled between our culinary experiences. She was fun and engaging and did an exceptional job of involving the entire group. It was fun to experience and try all the different local specialities. We would highly recommend this tour and especially Amanda!

This is an absolutely essential destination and experience for the touring foodie, conducted by a friendly and knowledgeable guide!
Prior to visiting Cork, I had booked this tour for my family; me, my wife and 2 little girls (4, 6). Immediately, Frances, our tour guide, reached out to confirm a few details and worked through a few changes as we needed to add another guest. She was more than accommodating, highly responsive, and easy to work with.
On the day of the tour, we arrived late due to a few early morning delays. I also recommend arriving early as parking in the central Cork area can be a little complicated for first timers like us. Regardless, we joined the tour as Frances was explaining the historical significance of the tour's first stop. I could see we were in for something truly unique as she led the group inside a tiny pub off the beaten path to enjoy the most outstanding, authentic Irish coffee (and orange juice for the girls :)). This gave us time to settle in with the other folks and get to know who we would be spending the next few hours with. From there, we entered the English Market which was sprawling with activity and featured local vendors who showcased the finest selections from the Cork region. Frances took us to several of the more popular vendors where we tried a wide variety of foods, which we happily munched while listening to Frances' historical accounts and personal anecdotes. Highlights include; local cheeses, breads, and sausage, as well as a deep dive into a variety of seafoods. The oysters were a personal favorite while my girls indicated that, after a visit to the local chocolatier, "the chocolate was the best". From the English Market, Frances led us out again to the streets where we concluded our tour in another rare gem of a pub. Lunch was served alongside a pint and we enjoyed a few other items we had picked up along the way.
The tour was a complete success. We had been educated on the local area cuisine and were quite full. This is due entirely to the reception, hospitality, and accommodation we received from Frances. I intend to stay in touch and go again when we visit in the future.

Wow, James, you're giving me a swollen head! I loved having you guys on the tour, especially the girls who were just adorable and so well behaved. I will always think of them when they asked "Is this Irish" for all the food tastings. Come back and see us another time. Take care James and give the girls a big Irish hug from me. Frances

For me, a culinary tour should show case how culinary impacted society andhow history impacts culinary art of today. This tour was a nice day in cork and we gained a better under standing of buildings, butter abd the market. Yet for culinary, it lacked the rich aspects of culinary arts in Cork. We did not talk about foods, flavors, ethinic impacts, and history driving food. For the cost of the tour, I would have expected more... two drinks, market snacks, and pub appetizers without significant historical context for 60 euros per person was expensive. Yet, I am glad we went, it was an average experience.

Hello Maria,
I am confused with this review to be honest. The tour begins with the story of Irish butter and the value of trading, exportation of Irish food products from the 1800's and how food impacted Irish history culturally, economically and politically. I also explain the story of the Allen family in Ballymaloe House and the impact they had on launching Cork as a food destination with their creativite and inventive "country home cooking"
The traders in the market go above and beyond to introduce their specific Cork products that you sampled and the wait staff at the brewery explain in detail the types and names of the local beers and stouts guests can choose from.
I gave a history of the English market, its origins, and its struggle to survive in an ever changing Irish economy, the story of the Queen's visit and much more. I am sorry you seem to have missed this attention to detail that Bonner Travel strives for on each and every tour but your review will keep me on my toes going forward with other tours. Thank you for keeping me in check. Regards, Frances

We had a wonderful tour with Kerry! We were grateful to be able to book this last minute during our trip to Cork (thanks, Frances!) and cannot recommend this highly enough! Every step of the journey was thoughtfully curated to share the delicious culture and history of the city. Kerry was a fantastic and enthusiastic guide. By the end, we were stuffed and our mouths are watering just remembering all the things we ate!

Amanda was amazing, very passionate. She disclosed very interesting stories about the city. She made ourselves surprised in a good way by singing an Irish song while drinking our Irish coffee. The food was delicious. This is definitely something to do if you want to visit Cork being guided by a knowledgeable guide.

The history is great, the sights are awesome, of course. But the highlight of our tour was the guide herself, Cork-native Amanda. She knows the area, personally knows the people at all the stops, and provides joyful surprises along the way. Look, if a 3-hour experience can make me cry simply because it has to end, it's just a winner. Bravo to Amanda, and the delightful history, art, shopping, and cuisine of Cork! Prepare to be charmed, and bring your appetite!

Our food tour in Cork was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. Kerry was a wonderful guide! There was supposed to be another couple on our tour, but they didn’t show up. We ended up having a private tour with Kerry. She was engaging and knowledgeable, and we appreciated her sharing some of her own experiences as a local. Everything we tried was delicious and we certainly were full by the end of the tour. We highly recommend Kerry and this food tour!

The Cork culinary tour was a wonderful introduction to Ireland’s “Second City”. Frances was lovely, informative, and so easy to talk to. Her roots withe the English Market run deep and she treated us to more bites and sips than we expected. Highly recommend as an introduction to Cork and local culinary traditions.

We are on a Princess cruise that docks in Cobh. We are from Orlando Florida. We love culinary tours for history, social understanding, and the food. Two questions, What kind of transportation is available from Cobh to Cork? We are scheduled to arrive at 9:00 am. Second question, I can only book for four and there are just two of us at the present time. What options do we have? Thank you. Gary Mc
