Our driver/guide, Ian, was fantastic. He gave great, light and humorous narration of sites and history as we drove along, making it very enjoyable. We left quickly from the port directly to Blarney Castle to get ahead of crowds of the cruise ship's tour buses, which gave us a shorter wait time getting to the Blarney stone.

I didn't expect much of the castle, but was pleasantly surprised. There is lots of signage inside describing each room and how it would have been used, with illustrations. There are lots of rooms to explore off the main path. The castle grounds are beautiful. There isn't enough time to go up to the Blarney stone and go over to the Woolen Mills, however. If you want to go to the Woolen Mills, walk the castle grounds but don't go up to the Stone.

I liked our quick tour through Cobh. Ian is from there and he gave great narration.

Overall, I highly recommend this tour -- way better than taking one of the ship's tours.

Our day could not have been any finer! Ian, (guide/driver) greeted us all with a big smile and kept us enthralled the whole day! First stop, Blarney Castle. Even though the crowds looked huge, Ian navigated us all through the entrance gates very quickly. The grounds at the castle are impressive...I could have spent hours just wondering around them! The Blarney Woolen Mills store was extensive and had great goods are great prices! We all had bags to bring back to the bus! Also loved Cork and enjoyed a perfect stopover for lunch in Kinsale. Ate at one of the pubs Ian recommended, and it couldn't have been any better! He gave us choices in all price ranges. Last stop was Cobh, with a postcard worthy photo stop at the Cathedral and deck of cards houses. You cannot go wrong with this tour! I suggest you book now before it sells out!

We were booked to go on this excursion but unfortunately had to cancel at the last minute due to urgent surgery. I cannot review actual excursion other than say the tour prices are very reasonable in comparison to cruise ship tours.
Ian has handled the cancellation in an excellent and caring way and I would certainly re-book when in the area again.

We really enjoyed this tour from Cobh cruise port to the Blarney Castle & Kinsale. The guide was great and got us to the Blarney Castle before any of the ship's tours. We were able to walk all the way up and only had a few minutes wait at the top to kiss the Blarney Stone. The castle grounds were very pretty. The bus driver was amazing in his abilities to maneuver all the tight spaces. Great tour.

This is the best review I have ever written about a tour we didn't take! The wife and I were to cruise from NYC to Dover, UK, with various stops in route. We booked a tour with eCoach/Butler Tours last August . Well, with all the problems going on, and surgery set for our return, I was told that if I left the country, my surgery would be cancelled. We cancelled our cruise and contact Ian at Butler to cancel our excursion. He was most pleasant and understanding, even thought it meant a loss of revenue to him. After sending my bank information, he wired a full refund to my account. I can't say the same for Irish Tours, who won't return my calls nor e-mails. Thank you Ian!!

An extraordinarily good shore excursion. Our driver/guide Kevin was excellent. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable about history of the areas, and gave great recommendations for food, and sights. I even loved his jokes. The vehicle used was comfortable. the timing of the tour was well thought out. We left early for Blarney, and beat the crowds from the ships tours. Our mid day drive through Cork showed us how vibrant the City is. Good amount of time in lovely Kinsale, and there was adequate time to do an inside visit of the Cobh Cathedral. I'm very happy I took this tour and have recommended it to several others.

I recently organized a tour of Blarney Castle, Kinsale and Cork for 2 full size buses of my fellow Cruise Critic members. If you think organizing this many people can be time consuming, well, you're right. Claire, the Tour Manager at Butler buses was a gem. Her prompt and thorough emails made my task much easier.

Everyone in both buses had only good things to say about their day. We arrived at Blarney Castle early enough so that it was no more than a half hour line wait to kiss the stone, leaving plenty of time to explore the grounds. Our guides were informative and charming.

I frequently organize private group tours and would certainly use Butler Buses again!

We booked this tour in preference to the ship’s and it was excellent. Ian our tour guide made the day even more special. He was informative, funny, pleasant and very entertaining. Great venues, timing was perfect, brilliant commentary. (Ian and the bus were also very easy to find when we arrived at the port. He was right outside the gates and was very proactive in making sure that people got on the right bus.)

We had a great time on this full day tour. Our driver and guide had a great attitude and cracked a few good jokes here and there. If you decide that you are going to Kiss the Blarney Stone, you must go directly to the line without stopping at the beautiful gardens. You will have no time to spare, but its a worthwhile experience after 120 steps. Enjoy the Gardens if you are claustrophobic or have fear of heights. Otherwise, its worth the wait.
