We, along with our friends, took an eight day cycling and hiking tour with James Foley from Beyond The Glass. Ireland was always on our bucket list and we had an excellent, memorable experience exploring Ireland’s beautiful landscape and rich cultural heritage.

James had planned a perfect trip for all of us, It was a right balance of cycling, hiking, and site seeing leaving enough time for us to explore the beautiful town’s of Ireland on our own. We enjoyed a lot, learnt a lot about Ireland, its rich heritage, culture, and society. Hotel accommodation was very comfortable and must say, had excellent and delicious food. All this made possible by James and his excellent knowledge of Ireland, and being local to the area, was able to create a very unique experience for us. James himself was very sensitive to our needs, a caring and fun individual to be with, and a through gentleman. Could not have asked for a better vacation experience.

We would highly recommend James Foley and his company Beyond The Glass for exploring Ireland. Thank you James for making it a memorable experience for us. We will cherish it for a very long time.

My husband and I took the 8 day Beyond the Glass Explorer Tour, a bicycling and hiking adventure tour in Ireland. The trip took us from Cork City around the southwest coast and ended up in Dublin. The trip was spectacular and i cannot think of a better way to have seen Ireland’s beautiful landscape. James Foley, the owner and guide was so very kind, informative, helpful and accomodating. James kept all of the group safe with the hiking and bicycling activities. We were busy and having a lot of fun. James has tremendous knowledge and provided us excellent history of Ireland. The hotel accommodations were excellent and food we ate at various places was delicious. We really enjoyed this trip and i would definitely recommend it! Thank you Beyond the Glass tours and James Foley for showing us such a wonderful time, and wonderful culture- Anju & Nitin

James provided an amazing experience for our first, but hopefully not last, trip to Ireland. Being able to experience the countryside at ground level- being able stop and take it all in, while listening to the history of what was before us is not something that would have happened just sitting in a tour bus all day every day. Each stop on the tour provided a new and breathtaking landscape to explore. The accommodations and restaurants were lovely. The smaller group size and James’s flexibility lent to a more personalized experience, rather than feeling like we were on a cookie cutter style tour. It’s a trip that won’t soon be forgotten.

Loved this tour! It was a perfect mix of hiking and biking, some boat trips and touring in the van to see the west and southwest part of Ireland! We were traveling with our two boys who are 26 and 28 and we wanted an active tour! James, the owner and guide, was so knowledgeable about the area, having grown up and lived most his life there.

The trip itinerary was great! We usually cycled for 3 or 4 hours one day and drove, then we would do a hike the next day. James was very good too about improvising when needed. One of the days we were going to hike up a mountain. But the mountain was all fogged in, so we did a different hike at a lower elevation so that we could appreciate the view! Some of the hikes we did, we would never have found ourselves, because there was really no marked trail. Farmers over there don’t mind if you hike on their property as long as you close the gates so the sheep and cattle don’t get out! We did some incredible hikes -the one along the Cliffs of Moher was beautiful and the one out of Roundstone up to Errisbeg was great too ( incredible views).

We also biked in some beautiful places -the bike ride through Killarney Forest was a highlight of the trip and biking in Castletownbere on the country roads out to the Buddhist monk retreat for lunch was a great way to see that area.

We loved James -you can tell he loves what he does and he is enthusiastic about sharing it with others

The hotels and bed and breakfasts that he booked us in were all very nice. The Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff and the Googanbara Hotel were both across the street from beautiful lakes! And the Roundstone House in Roundstone had one of the best restaurants we ate at while in Ireland!

James took good care of us in each of the towns we stayed in. Lunches and dinners were not included in the tour, but he would give us some options for dinner every night and even make us reservations or walk us into town to show us what was available! He gave our boys tips on what pubs they might want to try and they tried quite a few!

Our family has so many wonderful memories from this trip! I can’t say enough good things about it!

I would highly recommend James and his company to anyone who wants to travel The Wild Atlantic Way portion of Ireland!

If you enjoy the outdoors, the 8 day adventure tour is truly the best way to experience Ireland! We hiked, biked and journeyed up the western coast of Ireland from Cork to Achill Island. It was absolutely amazing! James, our tour guide, was truly committed to making our experience adventurous and fun! James shared his tremendous knowledge of Ireland's history, mythology and music. I am so thankful that I found this tour through TripAdvisor. There is just no way I could have planned a vacation like this. I knew I would enjoy this tour, but it was better than I ever imagined! Thank you, James, for making my first trip to Ireland so memorable and magical! I will be back!

This is a great way to see the Wild Atlantic Way if you enjoy cycling and hiking. I travelled with 3 girlfriends and we had the time of our lives! James our magnificent tour guide took us to many sites but off the beaten track. James' tour was personable as there were only 6 of us on this tour (max 10). Every day was an adventure! We would cycle or hike in the morning to early afternoon. Then we would return to our hotel or B&B for a rest before having dinner and exploring the town. James is very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the history and the many stories he shared with us. He is also friendly, flexible and very patient, James also taught us Hurling the national sport of lreland! The Irish landscape is so beautiful and the people very friendly. I don't think we would have seen so much without James' tour. If I could, I would do it all over again! I would highly recommend Beyond the Glass Tours!

We enjoyed an excellent 8 day tour with our host James Foley who went out of his way to make our trip memorable. Days were filled enjoying hiking and
biking amongst locals off the beaten path as well as visits to must see attractions. In addition to the very comfortable and centrally located accomodation,James always provided suggestions for dinner and entertainment which never disappointed. Lastly, James took us on a historical tour of Ireland by sharing his vast knowledge of a country he is clearly proud to call home.

I would highly recommend this 8 day tour for a once in a lifetime adventure. This is a small group (maximum 12) tour that traverses the western coast hassle-free with included transportation between many of the country’s must-see attractions. I loved how James took us off the beaten path to visit breathtakingly beautiful sites. Delicious breakfasts were included and lodging is only at top-rated hotels. My 3 friends and I felt very fortunate to join our fearless leader, James Foley. He was always cautious with driving and he kept us safe and was flexible with the activities. Also, the mini bus is clean and comfortable to travel in. The trip is definitely for outdoor lovers who are physically fit. The tour exceeded my expectations as James made the trip engaging and interesting!

Hiking and biking through Ireland was indeed the best way to see the Emerland Island! The itinerary gave us the opportunity to see the towns, eat delicious food and hear traditional music in the evenings. Our Irish born tour guide James was excellent. His wealth of historical knowlege and love for storytelling was enduring. I'm so glad we made the decision to see the Wild Atlanic Way with "Beyond the Glass". I high recommend it!

This was my second time visiting western Ireland, having been hooked the previous year by a more mainstream tour company - and James offered the deeper level of physicality, adventure, exploration, and intimacy to nature that I was looking for! I had a great group of people traveling with me, some of whom I still keep up with today, over a year later (I actually traveled in June of 2019, not December!) - and, despite being a solo traveler, I always felt considered and included in the group's activities and after-hours excursions. The tour covered a lot of ground and was strenuous at times, but I always felt in control and supported when it came to my level of fitness; James provided lots of options for different levels of activity. A highlight for me was biking down the Gap of Dunloe, but we saw - and walked and hiked and biked and sailed - so many beautiful places. James is a great guide, you can tell he's really doing what he loves. He's got a ton of knowledge and resources for the inquiring mind; I really enjoyed our conversations together, and I came home with a list of new music, movies, and books to delve into. The Wild Atlantic Way is a truly unique part of the world; it feels distinctly mystical and it looks like something out a textbook on prehistoric times. I feel like there is still so much to see and do there; it remains a dream destination for me and someplace I'll continue to visit throughout my lifetime (as long as James has a spot for me!)
