    Entertaining show/meal.
We were not given time to explore the castle. Once door open, we were directed to our sitting tables. Immediately, wine started pouring. The as the show started, food started coming.

    Banquets are Back
Medieval banquets are back. Served a sample of mead upon arrival. Wine and water available on the tables. Food was plentiful and good. Entertainment needs a little work. Harpist and violinist were great. Singers were more like soloists and not a group (alto was also flat). Dancer wasn't necessarily paying attention to the beat of the music. Needed better mics. Disappointed that the food service lasted longer than the entertainment. Should get better as time progresses. Good place for an evening out.

We came and made a stop by to see this castle but did not have tickets to stay. There was a dinner show in progress at the time and it sounded like everyone was having a really good time. Will definitely buy tickets for next time.

    Banquet Fit for a King!
Our evening was very memorable! The food was good, the entertainment lively and the mead was excellent! (so good that when we got back to the States, I tracked down the meade and ordered a case.) Elaine, was wonderful. She was very hospitable, had a smile on her face, and was engaging as she interacted with our table. Loved this time on our tour!

    a Mighty Medieval Banquet
had a wonderful Medieval Banquet at this Castle, I wanted to experience this castle more than others as it has a more age old feel to it and less commercial in my view, and I was not disappointing in anyway, in fact we all loved it the four of us who attended.

    Medieval Banquet
Ten of us attended the Knappogue Medieval Banquet and it was just as fabulous as ever. This was perhaps my 5th or 6th time attending this banquet and, it was just as much fun as the first time I attended in August of 1975. This time we were 4 children and 6 adults. As usual, dealing with the women at Shannon Heritage made everything so easy for me. And, as usual, we will be back.

Wonderful evening of music, dance & good food
We attended Knappogue Castle’s medieval banquet back in 1996, and were delighted with our return visit this month. The wonderful hospitality, music, dance and culture in this intimate setting is magical. Talented performers, most of whom double as servers, make you feel welcome. Most guests arrive on coach tours, but we booked separately and drove there on our own. Plenty of parking available. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and highly recommend the venue.

Lovely day at Newbridge Farm. Went with family members on the spur of the moment while visiting the park and it was a great experience. Highly recommended.

    Castle Fit For A King
Our family of five stayed at the Knappogue Castle to celebrate a major birthday, we're not saying who or how many. The three bedroom apartment in the castle was fantastic. We rented the castle through AirBnB and our host Claire greeted us at the door with the biggest house key we have ever seen. She literally gave us the "keys to the castle". We were free to roam the castle, the tower, the gardens, and (of course) the fully furnished apartment. The apartment had three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a formal parlor, a relaxing family room, and a stocked kitchen full of breakfast food. Our kids really enjoyed climbing the tower and seeing what medieval life was all about. We enjoyed roaming the gardens and even throwing a frisbee in the yard. We would highly recommend the castle for anyone staying in the area. We only stayed one night, and wish we could have spent a few more nights there. It was magical.

    Medieval Dinner
My husband and I attended the Medieval Banquet with our tour group. We loved it. The castle is authentic, food excellent, staff in character and show loads of fun. We would attend again!

    Great Experience
We were trying to decide which medieval banquet to attend, since they're somewhat pricey and wanted to make it worth it. We're glad we chose this one. We arrived about 20 minutes before our dinner time thinking we could tour the castle, but we didn't. We didn't even ask if that was possible. We showed up and there were only 4 other people there when we arrived and so we were perplexed thinking this dinner would be a dud. But 3 tour buses showed up shortly and it filled the dining hall. The entertainers were funny, and the food was good. We had a family from China sitting next to us and they had a 4-year old girl. The staff was very accommodating to her by offering her drinks and food more kid-friendly.

A fun time had by all!
A grand and fun time with talented entertainers and delicious food. The castle is nestled among a lane and trees, takes quite a while to get to from Bunratty Castle Hotel. But definitely worth it! You are greeted by delightful staff dressed in medieval costumes and offered a nice sized glas of honey mead. The four-course dinner was great and i enjoed it very much, however many people from the group of 29 I was traveling with rudely refused to eat some of the dishes the server brought to the table. Our menu consisted of smoked salmon, tomato soup, chicken with potatoes and an apple dessert. The menu does change I believe. The performances were fantastic, I can only remember a few of the names but Collin was an excellant dancer and Nora played harp beautifully. The butler reminded me of an actor and was very funny. I can't remember if he reminded me of Richard E. Grant or who it was. Everyone in the staff was wonderful and i thank you again for the fantastic time! Keep up the great work.

    Fun
I went here on a Friday night as part of a CIE Tour. On the way we were told that there are 4 kings/queens. The tour guide chose me as queen as I was the only person traveling alone. Once we arrived at the Castle the lady let me and the chosen king know that we were the main king and queen and would sit in the middle of the table on the platform. One king and queen never gets to sit at the main table. While waiting for the festivities to begin everyone was given a cup of mead. Then everyone else walked into the eating area and we all got cloaked then we walked in. It is dinner and a show and it was fun. My favorite part of the meal was the second course which was a tomato basil soup. It was so yummy!

    Trip highlight!
Knappogue Castle was a trip highlight on our journey to Ireland and Scotland. We enjoyed the Medieval Banquet but were also overnight guests in the castle apartments that we booked for an overnight stay on Air B&B. They literally handed us the keys to the castle! We explored all the many rooms and passageways and even had fun with a scavenger hunt from clues left by past guests. The castle and grounds are beautiful, the banquet is great fun, and the accommodations are comfortable, roomy, clean, and decorated for the period. What a memorable experience to say we had a castle all to ourselves! Would definitely recommend!

    Medieval Banquet in Name Only
We arrived at this beautiful castle with its' lush surrounding lawn and gardens to be ushered upstairs to our assigned, very tight and very cramped seats for the banquet. It was rather uncomfortable seating to be able to comfortably eat and even turn a little to get a better view of the stage. The staff was very pleasant and served the average and atypical medieval fare at a good pace. However, several times they were detoured by one or two demanding tables to serve their food first and not in the usual order of things. Definitely not their fault. The Meade was excellent and we asked nicely for more and some of us were indulged and left a healthy tip in the basket upon leaving. I hope that the staff receives the tips, they were very good. The show was entertaining and some of the performers/ servers were excellent. Our table particularly loved the male Irish dancer! I am glad I went as it was a memorable experience even with all the free flowing wine that was poured!

This was one of our stops as part of our CIE bus tour of Ireland. It was truly one of most memorable experiences we had in Ireland. The castle grounds are picturesque and the interior dining area was truly a medieval experience. The wine flowed endlessly and the food was delicious. But the entertainment...WOW!! This is what we came to Ireland to see. Traditional Irish singing and dancing. The show blew me away. This is one stop not to miss.

Loved this experience! Entertainment, dancing, music, and food were definitely worthwhile! Drink mead (honeyed wine) or juice. Soup, salad, grain bread and chicken gave a glimpse of how banquets were celebrated!

I have visited several of the castles for their feasts, usually on my last night in Ireland. This year I was able to getr reservations in Knappogue Castle and am glad I did. I think this was the best show I have seen in the castles. Similar to what I saw back over 40 years ago but still I think the best of the castle shows I have seen.

Staying in Ennis for a couple days and wanted to take my wife to a medieval banquet. Originally tried for an early show at Bunratty but only had one ticket for day and time I wanted. Knappogue had several and so bought tickets for there. Left B&B early enough to stop by and look at Dromoland Castle and quick stop at Quin Abbey all close by. We arrived and strolled around the ground until they opened the doors. After a cup of mead, some music, and a little history of the Castle we were seated in the banquet hall. Had great food, wonderful music, entertainment (dancing and singing). I’ve been to Bunratty twice before and glad I choose Knappogue this time. More intimate crowd and just as good. Good job, highly recommend.

The evening we spent at the castle was like stepping back in time by a few hundred years - incredible!

The whole staff was warm and welcoming. The food and drink were great, and the singing/dancing kept us more than entertained; we were mesmerized!

Having experienced both the Knoppogue Castle and the Bunratty Castle banquettes I have to say that the Knappogue experience is the winner in both the quality of the food and the entertainment! We plan on adding that to our guests tours of West Clare.
