    Best of Belfast Walking Tour
Having previously visited Belfast, we thought that this walking tour would be perfect as we were only in Belfast for the day. We met Stevan in front of the City Hall which was easy to find. We were given head sets which were easy to use. Stevan took us to many really interesting places, including a coffee shop where we bought ourselves refreshments. Stevan was very knowledgeable and the tour was totally captivating from start to finish. As we had been discussing the Titanic during our walk, at the end of the tour Stevan gave a couple of links to films about the building and sinking of the ship. I would rate Stevan 10/10

    Great morning/afternoon
Coming from Belfast, I knew some things already but I learnt much more than what I already knew. This tour is worth every penny and Steve our tour guide was a gentleman, very fluid and friendly in his communication and always had a well placed joke amongst the knowledge he would convey. As a local, I can say any tourist considering this will have an honest account of Belfast.

    Great guided tour
Steve is a wonderful guide. He took us around Belfast inner city telling the city’s history in an interesting and entertaining way. We found that he gave context to understanding what the deeper issues of the troubles really were. The perspective he had reminded us of the one that we experienced at university studying history. He left us with useful recommendations and a lust to experience the city even more!

From the war heroes to the random acts of kindness.
Steve is an excellent guide. I thoroughly enjoyed the Best of Belfast Waling Tour. It was informative, entertaining and gave a brilliant insight into the Belfast of the past and current events today. I would highly recommend this tour!

    Great tour, great experience!
Came a weekend to undergo and to learn more about Belfast and my first experience was with DC Tours. Our guide (Steve) was more than knowledgeable, as he was inspiring too. It was a honest tour, meaning that some dark history is a part of it, but much needed to have a better understanding of the city. Tips about where to go for food and a drink, made me do the tour in great part again. So, my first experience in Belfast was immediately a good one. Thank you so much for that!

    Excellent tour
Small group tour (7 people) which was fantastic. Great audio systemthat ensured we could hear Stevan’s very informative, interesting and engaging commentary. Three hours flew by! Helped us to get a better understanding of Belfast and of Irish history. Thanks Steve 😊

Go on this tour (even if it’s cold and rainy)
Went on the walking tour on a cold and rainy Sunday morning - Chris was chipper and prepared to make sure I had an enjoyable time nonetheless - there was a nice coffee break in the middle to warm up. Chris is a great storyteller and made the highlights and history of Belfast come to life. Loved that he had done his own research and infused extra tidbits of knowledge into the tour.

    Excellent walking tour in Belfast!
Had a wonderful walking tour with Steve, learning so much about the city of Belfast, its history, conflict and resolutions, and its continuous evolution. The stories were told with passion and humour, with time taken to answer our many questions. We learned about the buildings around us, the rise and fall of the linen industry, the influence of various men as women in leadership, and which was the oldest bar in Belfast. We walked away with a deeper appreciation for the historical events and people shaping Belfast as a manufacturing city, and as a divided city. We can also appreciate better the events that have influenced the passion and pride the people of Belfast take in their Irish heritage, Thank you Steve for a fun, insightful and enjoyable tour! Belfast walking tour
Steve gave us a very informative walking tour, about 3 hours long. We learned a lot, and got some exercise. We would recommend to anyone who can walk/stand for that long and who wants to know more about the history of Belfast.

    A must do in Belfast!!
Our tour guide Steve was well informed and an excellent speaker. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Steve took time at the end to answer a couple questions and listen to a couple of personal stories I had in relation to the tour.

Very passionate and knowledgeable tour guide
Steve is a passionate and knowledgeable tour guide. He made us feel welcome and made sure we were safe and engaged throughout. It was very interesting to hear of the compassionate side of Belfast instead of, and in the face of, all the troubles. There was so much information about people, history and locations that I retraced most of our steps the following day. Would recommend this tour to any visitor to the city (and perhaps local too!)

    Best of Belfast Walking Tour
I recently had the pleasure of joining the DC Tours Best of Belfast Tour guided by Stevan, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Stevan's knowledge and passion for Belfast history brought the tour to life. Stevan didn't just recite facts; he engaged us with interesting anecdotes and lesser-known facts that made the history of the area feel relevant and exciting.

    The best tour guide!
I live in Belfast and brought a friend, who was visiting from the states, on the Best of Belfast tour. I was absolutely blown away, Steven was a brilliant guide and I discovered so many wonderful things about the city that I never knew before, even as a local! Highly recommend, this rekindled my love for Belfast and the many unsung heroes throughout it's history.

So much of Belfast is wrapped up in its history. I knew very little about The Troubles in Northern Ireland and felt that it would be important to understand this period of time while visiting the city. I signed up for a group tour but had the good luck to be the only person on the tour that day in late January. So I had a personal tour from Paul. His knowledge of The Troubles was outstanding and he took me through historic points throughout the city center. Paul was very patient with all of my questions and went out of his way to make sure that I had a feel for what the city and its people had gone through for such a long period of time. I highly recommend that any visitor to Belfast sign up with DC Tours to learn the background of the present city today.

This guided walk was actually called 'A History of Terror' and it involved walking to a number of places in Belfast city centre which all contributed to the tapestry of 'The Troubles'.

Our guide was Paul who was extremely engaging and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of events during that troubled time.

I was last in Belfast in 1986 as a member of the British Army so coming back was both strange and comforting. Strange because I can now go anywhere without looking over my shoulder and comforting because the dark days of bombings and shootings are now largely consigned to the history books. It's also good to see that the incredibly warm and friendly people of this province now have the opportunity to just get on with their lives and leave the hate behind. That's what I hope anyway.

I thought I knew quite a bit about The Troubles but Paul filled in many gaps in my knowledge. I was also struck by how intimate The Troubles were with so much going on in such a small area. It seemed every street, every corner, every cut through has a tale to tell and not always a good one. Paul brought it all to life which only someone who lived through it all probably could.

Thank you Paul for helping make my return to this great city such a memorable one.

Andy MacKenzie

p.s. make sure you include a photo of you as a young punk rocker for your next tour:-)

Were fortunate to have a guided walk with Paul. He provided deep insight, clear explanations of the initial period of "the Troubles" without oversimplification or bias. I had read a little to prepare but his , sometimes very personal , experiences gave an element of clarity to a very complex environment and period. 3 hours flew by as we hung on to every word. Paul was not just knowledgeable, his personal experiences together with his work as a reconciler and mediator brought another dimension to our understanding. I read continuously on the journey home from the book list DC Tours recommended. What had previously been a confusing blend of dates, names and tragedies became much clearer. Thank you.
We have travelled widely over the past 30+ years and have a very high personal bar for our guides that is rarely met. Its difficult chosing a tour company and the individual guide is usually a matter of good fortune . I researched companies as carefully as I could on-line and DC were an excellent choice which I do not hesitate to recommend. Then we hit the jackpot with Paul. He joins a small and elite pantheon of guides who have made our lives richer and helped us understand just a little bit more.
Thanks and all the best

Our guide Paul was super friendly and helpful. He clearly had an in depth knowledge of the history around the troubles and spoke about it in a way which was non-biased and easy to understand. He also welcomed questions and answered them all well.
Would definitely recommend this tour as a way of exploring the city and learning about some of its history.

Really enjoyed this informative tour with Paul and James. They were so knowledgeable about Belfast’s troubled past, both retelling the history in a balanced and engaging way. The walk was very easy going, so suitable for all. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get an insight into this lovely city’s past divisions. The horrors are brought to life, but you are left with a feeling of hope for the future.
Thank you Paul and James, it was a morning well spent.

Honestly, this was so enjoyable. As someone who grew up in Belfast towards the end of the troubles there was so much I didn't know happened and learnt about today.

The fact that you walked to the actual places made each piece of information stand out and more memorable. I was able to go home to my parents and talk to them about places and pieces the history that they lived through in the 70's.

James, our tour guide was very well spoken, incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and really took the time to show and summarise this cities vast history remarkably well in just over 2.5 hours. Thank you!!!

Extra fun fact: The headsets provided to amplify the tour guides voice was genius! I will be booking more tours with D.C tours. Great value for money. I highly recommend to people visiting the city and people who want to know a bit more about the place they grew up in.

Thanks again!

Brilliant guide (Mark) took us on a tour of Belfast's troubled past, beginning at City Hall, into the commercial area via Royal Avenue and over to the Cathedral Quarter, then finishing on the banks of the Lagan, stopping at seemingly innocuous locations that turn out to be drenched in the history of the place, as well as some relevant examples of street art. You don't go in anywhere, there are no memorials to view (and the reason for that is explained). However this is not a criticism: apart from a few well-chosen photographic props, the tour's success rests solely on the impressive expertise and experience of the guide, who, it should be said, strives for neutrality in this account of 'The Troubles'. The story is told from the point of view of us ordinary civilians – with a bit of healthy humorous cynicism thrown in for good measure. Highly recommended.

Torrential rain on a Sunday greeted my friend and I as we went for the DC Tour of Belfast. Most would have called the whole thing off, but we decided that we should persevere despite the weather.

Our concern about the weather did not however dampen the spirit of our tour guide, James. A guy filled with great enthusiasm and who gave us the sense that we were about to embark on an adventure! Little did we know this is exactly what we would get. A portrait of the Troubles of Belfast was intermingled with history and local stories. A knowledge that would have been otherwise hidden was uncovered for us, adding to the rich tapestry of the storyline as we wandered the streets of this city.

History that stretched back to the 1600s gave us a complete overview and better understanding of things as they occurred during the modern day problems.

Each street and alley way led you to a new understanding of the reasoning behind some of the atrocities and the resulting impact for the people caught up in it.

DO NOT be put off by that thought. All of this is delivered in a very professional manner. Serious when called for but witty when the time was right.

You really must experience this tour. It is certainly one of the most informative I have ever been on and is worth every penny. Quite, quite wonderful.

Despite travelling to Belfast several times over the last few years, there are always new things to see and learn. We booked the History of Terror tour with DC Tours after finding them through google to finish our latest trip. James was our guide and he was friendly, down to earth and very knowledgeable. The knowledge of the people who lived through The Troubles is obviously second to none and it is delivered in an impartial way despite the guide's own personal beliefs and experiences. We learned and saw things that you wouldn't if you were just walking round the city yourself, and this tour focuses specifically on things that happened in the city centre during the Troubles.
We'll be returning to Belfast in the future and would definitely use DC Tours again for another one of their tours. Thanks for a very interesting morning in your wonderful city.

Paul was a brilliant guide, and after introducing himself to everyone and getting to know them, the two-and-a-half tour got under way.

It was at a very gentle pace which gave plenty of opportunities to take photos along the way.

Everyone was given sanitised headsets to help ensure that social distancing could be maintained.

Having grown up in Belfast, Paul was obviously at ease in not only giving a detailed history of Belfast, but related the stories of the troubles in a very unbiased, neutral way.

Lots was learnt about buildings and artwork & murals seen on the tour, and there were also good references to music history, too.

This was the perfect thing to do on my first full day in Belfast.
