Had a truly wonderful tour on Tuesday with Heidi who showed her passion and great knowledge of the series, she delivered a very informative and funny narrative of the filming locations and characters with great insights and antidotes.
A great touch are the radio ear pieces so can hear every detail of the commentary.
Cannot recommend it highly enough for fans, only problem is you will be left with the need to watch every episode yet again to enjoy everything you’ve learned. Thank you.

Thank you very much for this super review! I am so delighted that you enjoyed your tour with me and that you now feel the need to rewatch the programmes - that should keep you busy during the winter months! I think it is great to come to Oxford and take the tour and be inspired to rewatch 'in a different light'. I love my headset system - they make such a difference but just to let anyone reading this review know that they are only available when booked direct through my website and not on booking portals like TripAdvisor and that not all guides have so do reach out to confirm that your tour will have them if this is important to you. Thank you again and with very best wishes Heidi

We were in a group of just 10 people with the most informative and experienced guide ever! Her name was Heidi and she certainly knew her stuff! We were shown around Oxford to all the key sites and shown photos of the actors in that area. Heidi also had headsets so we could hear her even if we had stayed back to take photos etc. An absolutely worthwhile experience and definitely 10/10

Thank you for taking the time to review and appreciate the 10/10 rating - I love my job and get such enjoyment out of showing people around Oxford. I think the headsets make such a huge difference and I anticipate Oxford being ridiculously busy in 2022 so they will be invaluable although only available if booked direct via website and only with certain guides so do reach out if important to you. With best wishes Heidi

This tour was outstanding!

Our guide Elizabeth was so engaging and super knowledgeable about all things Morse! The finer details and stories she was able to share about Colin Dexter, John Thaw, Kevin Whately, Shaun Evans etc were really fascinating, quoting from specific episodes, and sharing anecdotes from bumping into and spending time with the filming crew etc. Pubs, gateways, side streets, front doors and colleges used in many episodes are pointed out and put into specific context.

In addition, the tour included plenty of information about the city itself and lots about the university college system. It was a perfect length (just short of 2 hours) and pace for everyone to enjoy. Sanitised headphones were provided so everyone could hear everything from a safe distance. Brilliant value for money, and highly recommended to anyone who is a Morse fan and also wants a great tour of the city.

This is possibly one of the best review we have received and are very grateful! Thank you for taking the time to write and for mentioning our personal connections to the filming / stars and also the sanitised headsets which, we believe, makes our tours unique and of the very highest standards. The headset system was an expensive investment but we know in enhances our guest experiences and means everyone can hear all the time. As Oxford gets steadily busier again, and large groups gather by other operators, these ensure our guests get the very best (but you do need to book direct with Walking Tours of Oxford for these and public tours only). Thank you again and we are so delighted you enjoyed the tour. With warmest wishes Heidi and Elizabeth

Not having watched them before, I fell in love with 'Morse' and 'Lewis' in the midst of lockdown, and I started reading some of Colin Dexter's books during that time period as well.

I had an opportunity to visit Oxford recently (a place I hadn't been to since I was a child) so how could I possibly scratch all of these itches?

Well, this is the answer. Heidi's tour was absolutely brilliant and not only cemented my love for 'Morse' and 'Lewis' ('Endeavour' I haven't come around to watching yet! I will!) but also helped me to appreciate Oxford as the great, historic city it is.

Thank you!

What a lovely and very special review, thank you very much for taking the time to write. I am delighted you enjoyed my tour and cemented your love for the city which I think is pretty special (even if it is the 'TV' murder capital of the world!). With warmest wishes Heidi

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour. It was very well organised, there were two guides on the day and we were split into 2 smaller groups of approx 12, we had Elizabeth who was exceptional. Elizabeth knew her subject brilliantly, she also had lots of lovely little personal stories and experiences of the cast and Colin Dexter to add to our experience too.
The headsets were unexpected but actually a master stroke as it did get noisy and it meant we could hear everything.
Definitely great value for money.

Many thanks for this delightful review - Elizabeth will be delighted as providing the highest possible quality tours in Oxford is important to us both. Many companies in Oxford take huge groups - I have seen some with over 50 people but we do restrict our numbers and split into two groups if necessary. Average is around 12 but we take a maximum of 20 (which is unusual but possible). Elizabeth and I love our headset systems and we are the only company in Oxford to offer these - they make such a difference and ensures that everyone can hear clearly but for anyone reading this review - please note that they are only available when the tour is booked direct via the website and not via booking portals and that they are not available on every tour as not all guides have. Do reach out to me before booking a tour if these are important to you and I can advise. With very best wishes Heidi, Walking Tours of Oxford

A really interesting, informative and amusing tour. Our guide, Heidi, has the knack of holding attention with effortless ease. Our walk was on a chilly, blustery and rather wet morning but the weather did nothing to detract from my enjoyment. Highly recommended and I hope to try one of the other walks on offer in the future.

We went on the tour on 16/06/2021 and this turned out to be the hottest day of the year, Heidi was our guide and I must say she was brilliant. She had some fabulous details and stories about Colin Dexter, John Thaw, Kevin Whately and of course her favourite, Shaun Evans as the gorgeous Endeavour. All her anecdotes were really fascinating and easily reminded us of each of the episodes she spoke about. Heidi also shared with us some of the history of Oxford so we felt like we were getting 2 tours in one. We had individual headphones so that everyone could hear everything from a safe distance. Superb value for money, and highly recommended. This is the second tour we have been on with them, the first was with Elizabeth last year and their enthusiasm is definitely contagious. We were captivated from the start to the end of the Tour.

Wow! Thank you! Your review and experience / enjoyment of my tour means a lot to me and I am very grateful for the review. I love my job and meeting people such as yourself and there can be no greater compliment than the fact that you have been on our tour twice in the past 6 months! It truly was my pleasure to meet you - oh and I checked with Elizabeth (sending her the photo) and she did remember you from October! See you again! With very best wishes Heidi and Elizabeth

Being allowed into a college - very lucky. The Chapel was absolutely beautiful. Our tour guide was passionate about her tour and this shone through with the amount of knowledge she had on all three wonderful TV series.
She was organised, professional and used visual aids to enhance our experience.
She also had a great deal of knowledge of the history of Oxford and told us many interesting anecdotes.
She was personable and showed interest in each member of the tour.
I will recommend this tour and indeed will return for the same tour in the future.

Thank you very much indeed! What a lovely review and I am so delighted that you came on the tour with me and I could show you the Oxford of Morse / Lewis and Endeavour. We were indeed very lucky to get into a college which does not happen much now days so tours are advertised as without entry. Always book direct for a possibility to get into a college! Hope you enjoy the book ... and had a nice visit to The Turf Tavern and Randolph! With warmest wishes Heidi

This was a really enjoyable tour; it was very informative and entertaining. Elizabeth’s narrative covered the locations for the series and brought them to life together with details about the author and those involved in production, from actors to writers and directors. Elizabeth also gave us some history of Oxford together with an explanation of the college system. I would thoroughly recommend this walking tour.

A fantastic tour of Oxford through the eyes of Morse, Lewis and Endeavour.
We were lucky enough to have Heidi as our guide. Her knowledge of the characters, episodes and details of places filmed in Oxford were just brilliant. She bought the characters and Colin Dexter to life and her enthusiasm was infectious. Thank you Heidi an amazing start to our long weekend. We highly recommend.
