Booking was made for 3pm in the afternoon. This actually refers to the time you join the back of the queue. The queue moved along and after 30mins we got the front and got into our capsule after having a photo taken against a green screen.
Once inside the capsule, the full rotation takes approx 30mins. Unless you have some Knowledge of places in London this is just a good way of seeing the skyline. What would enhance this experience would be some guide or commentary to point out the key parts of the skyline.
Towards the end of the ride there is another photo opportunity.
Once the ride finishes you can then purchase your very expensive photographs, something we didn’t do as the cost of the attraction was already overpriced.

Booked tickets to see the London Eye for Tuesday 26th July. Did not see any advice when booking that the time slot you book isn't the time you board! Booked 17:15 to board, thinking that would be enough time to experience the Eye and make our dinner reservation for 18:30.

Arrived at the experience to see a relatively long queue. Walked over to the people checking tickets, to be very rudely told by a young employee that "you can't queue here, you need to join at your time slot". We were very confused - this was our time slot. After asking this employee for clarification three times, she eventually explained it was actually the middle of the queue. They split the queue in half, but there are no signs anywhere explaining this, so of course everybody goes to the middle because it looks like the end. The staff clearly find this extremely irritating, but if it's not signposted or explained then how are first time visitors meant to know?

After being glared at by the employee and told sarcastically "behind the trees" when we asked where the end of the queue actually was, we walked around the corner to find that the queue was approximately 5 times bigger than we had realised. We could hear that everybody in the queue around us was feeling the exact same confusion and dismay at having booked a time slot only to find that wasn't the time you boarded.

There were staff positioned around the queue who had even more of a militant attitude than the staff we first encountered. My husband approached one of them and politely asked for reassurance that we were queuing where and when we should be. The staff member glared at my husband and snapped "yep". When my husband replied "oh ok", a bit bewildered that he had been spoken to so rudely, the man said sarcastically "do you think you're the first person to have asked me that today?" And stalked off.

Again, I appreciate the staff must get frustrated at being in this situation, but surely the fact they are faced with confused customers day in day out should show management that something needs to be done? There needs to be clear, bold signs on the website, the tickets and at the site explaining that the booked time is when you join the queue, not when you board. These signs also need to advise that you will be queuing for approximately an hour!

The queue itself should be more clearly signposted, and the bit where there is a random huge gap separating the middle of the queue should have a big sign explaining that it is the middle of the queue and directing visitors to the end of it.

It wasn't just us that staff were rude to - we witnessed many incidents where people were spoken to like they were dirt. One family were asked to leave the queue where they had been stood for half an hour just because one adult had left the queue with one young child to take her to the bathroom!

Overall, the experience itself was enjoyable, with fab views of Big Ben. Just be prepared to be queuing for approximately an hour, regardless of whether you have pre-booked tickets. Also prepare for the likelihood that you will be spoken to very rudely by staff, regardless of how politely you speak to them.

Despite the dreary weather the London Eye was the highlight of our day in the capital.

Excellent C19 measures are in place, temperature of guests taken as they join the queue and limited number in each pod - there were 8 in ours. Staff are super friendly and very well organised.

We benefited from pre-booked 2 for 1 tickets, we arrived slightly early but were allowed to join the queue nonetheless.

The views are excellent and puts the layout of the city into excellent perspective, from the top we planned our afternoon walk - some 15 miles in total!

Most definitely recommend even if you've visited before, the cityscape is forever changing and it's very interesting to see from above.

We purchased two tickets for a specified time availability, however this only gave us access to the back of a very long que of other people with tickets. We waited for over two hours in a badly managed que supervised by staff who had no idea what was happening. When we finally asked staff why the long delays of the que not moving they simply said they had no idea and made no attempt to find out. Their complacency only exacerbated many customers who were already committed to a ticket. Once in the pod we did enjoy a nice experience of lovely views for approx 25 minutes. So in summary, it begs the question: Is a 25 minute ride in a nice pod with good views worth a two hour wait and £72 for two adults?

Hi there, Thanks for leaving a review about your trip to the lastminute.com London Eye. I’m sorry to hear your wait to get up in the sky was longer than expected. We’re the most popular paid attraction in London, so sometimes there are lots and lots of people waiting to take flight at the same time. But we do try very hard to stagger time slots and keep waiting times as short as possible. Kind regards, Jasmine Customer Services Team The lastminute.com London Eye

The London eye was on our itinerary for our family trip to London. An iconic feature near the houses of parliament on the south bank of the river. All excited going to it. Then it all went downhill . The queue for the Eye was insane it was clearly over sold on the day we visited there didnt seem to he any sort of customer experience consideration. Just cram them in. There is an overflow queue running all down the opposite side of the Mall. We booked for a family 2 adults 3 children and arrived 15 mins before our time. We were told we could not join the queue until the actual time we booked.
So we had to wait around like lemons until 16.30 until we could join the queue. All in all it took 45 mins (17:15) to get to the point where we could join the queue on the actual ride ie the next to board queue 10 to 15 mins. But here's the thing you can buy a fast pass ticket for £15 a person and jump the queue.
Think about this now for a second there's a huge queue but Merlin will sell you a ticket to jump the queue. This actually makes the original queue longer and more delayed. Absolutely the worst treatment I have ever received from a tourist attraction anywhere.
My advice is to do this ride early in your day because Merlin won't have sold as many queue jump tickets so the actual queue won't be as delayed.
The ride itself is quite good with stunning views. But if you don't make it trust me your not missing too much. There is a cable car down the river near the 02 use Greenwich North tube station to get to it. Its £5 per person and it goes up high over the Thames has lovely views of Canary wharf the river and the 02. Just as good.

Well worth doing when the weather cooperates. We were there on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon and had a great view. It was very crowded, but they did a pretty good job of organizing the lines. As others have mentioned, the time on your ticket is the time you are "allowed" to get in line. Because it was so crowded, they were sending different time groups to separate roped off areas to queue. Ultimately that worked well. I was a little jealous of the fast track people, and it may be worth it if you're solo or maybe a couple., but it gets very expensive for a family.

I think they say they put 25 people in each pod, but we had 30. It looked like the fast track groups had under 20. Even with 30 people we were able to easily move around the pod and get all of the photos we wanted.

We were there on an extremely hot day, and I was concerned that inside the pod would feel like an oven despite the claims of air conditioning. Happy to say that wasn't the case. If you stand on either side of the pod you can be in the direct AC flow, but even at the ends it was cool enough.

Within my group, we had one person who is afraid of heights and another who suffers from motion sickness. I'm happy to say neither had any problems on the London Eye. The wheel moves so slowly that motion wasn't a problem (the pods don't move freely), and no problem with the height.

We had highly anticipated visiting the London Eye ever since arriving into London. We booked online easily on the website a few days prior and visited 8/3/22. It’s extremely popular so the line was super long and the ticket time didn’t exactly match the time being on the Eye but that was fine as the line moved quickly. But there was an incredibly great guy Zak R that early afternoon who helped get what seemed hundreds of people filed in line without any disruption who also answered questions while getting everyone set. I have to single him out because it was also a very hot and sunny day so we got a slushy for our young child. My young son and I accidentally bumped into each other and the blue slushy poured all over me and my son was so disappointed. Ten minutes later, this same gentleman who had helped get so many of us situated for the Eye came to us personally with a new blue slushy for my son. He did this when he was clearly so busy. I asked him if I could repay him but he politely declined, said it was the least he could do seeing my boy so sad and hot. He also asked if I needed anything. He did this all without any request or acknowledgement of his kindness. My husband and I went back later to ask who he was so I wanted to thank him this way. I have to say that visiting UK the past 2 weeks and London our final one, the consistent kindness, chivalry and helpfulness of so many was such a relief when there’s so much stress traveling but the rose of our trip was this particular gentleman Zak (forgive me if I’ve spelled your name wrong) who made my son really learn about goodness and acts of kindness. We really truly enjoyed the London Eye and the professionalism and great services

Not really sure what the point in booking a time slot is about as even with a pre booked slot you have to spend around 40 minutes queuing to get on the Eye.
Views were amazing, however put off from the queue time - unless of course you want to spend another £15 per person to go in another queue- all be it a shorter one!
Defiantly a one off for us. Won’t be hurrying back anytime soon.

Surprisingly unorganized. We visited today, which was the hottest day in British history: 40C/104F.

Despite the fact tickets are for specific time slots, people que whenever they choose. As a result, we waited for over 90 minutes in a largely unshaded line. It was worse once you got to the front, because the glass canopy trapped the hot air. We queued at 2:45 for a 3:30 ticket, and as you can see from the screenshot, we boarded over an hour past our ticket time.

With finite tickets sold for specific time slots, there was just no reason such a line, especially on a day with such dangerous heat. The experience was not nearly worth the suffering.

One of the 'must do' London experiences. We got a buy one get one free ticket offer from a packet of biscuits so the price wasn't too bad, wouldn't have felt as happy paying the full price though. Pre booked a time slot but still had to queue which made pre booking seem a bit pointless. The pods are roomy but probably have fewer people in them due to covid, but our pod was definitely fuller than the others and one group hogged the best views nearly the whole ride. Despite this the views are amazing and it goes slow enough to really have a good look over the city and get plenty of photos. You don't have to take part in the official photo opportunities if you don't want to, we didn't. It was a mix of sun and cloud when we went so had good visibility, can imagine it would be a let down if its foggy or raining though. Look out for half price promotions they are really worth it as full price tickets are a bit expensive for what it is.
