Fantastic tour with Michael! Michael's knowledge of the area, what life was like back in that part of London in the 1880's was exceptional. This was a very enjoyable and interesting step back in time and would recommend anyone with an interest in all things Ripper to do this tour. The fact that we did it in December and it was cold and foggy really added to the atmosphere. We will certainly be doing this again and have already recommended to friends and family.

This was a fantastic way to spend an evening in Whitechapel London. It is a busy tour (30/40 people) but to be honest that didn’t bother us at all and it didn’t detract anything from the tour. This is because our tour guide (Andre) was so energetic that he enthralled all 30 of us! He genuinely made the event, he was knowledgeable with loads of anecdotes and answered any question we threw at him. We went for a drink in the ten bells afterwards (thoroughly recommend). Highly encourage you to do the tour if you are in London or a budding ripporologist. Handy hint…. You don’t need to go to the ripper museum if you do this tour it is 20x more informative than the museum so you can save yourself a few quid.

We booked this tour as a last minute decision and boy were we glad! It was absolutely fantastic! Even days later we are still talking about it. Our tour guide James not only told the historical tale but with his passion, enthusiasm and knowledge brought it to life in-front of our very eyes. I actually felt as if I was part of the tour, part of what happened all those years ago not just listening to a monotone guide. Any question you had he was able to explain or answer in great depth. The added bonus was the projector and photo book he had alongside which only etched further into your mind the horrific scene of what happened all those years ago. Now I have heard on passing part of other similar Jack the Ripper tours and they are nothing compared to this one. They do not bring the story to life like this. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wishes to have the best and ultimate jack the ripper tour experience. And would even do it again if given the chance. Thank you so much.

The guide was excellent and engaging and he had to be, such was the dearth of material. This is really a long walk with a few words rather than a tour. I would suggest thirty minutes would nail the lot quite easily.

Not sure about the ripper vision part - we got to see one photo projected on the underside of a car port and then at the end were invited for the rest of the projections to be viewed in a room above a pub where we were welcome to take a drink up with us. I'm sure the guide's mate is very pleased with that arrangement but we didn't really fancy waiting thirty minutes for everyone to get their drinks and then watch a load of images that are readily available. The pub doesn't even appear to have much of a Ripper link.

Too much of the area has been developed to be able to bring things alive and I am sure the projectors are meant to replace that - so if they can't be used there should at least be props or people in character. Instead this was an overlong stroll around a generally dismal area.

The group was really too large and they appeared to have 70 across two groups with at least four other groups in the area - it's clearly a money for old rope sort of gig, trading on the name of a near mythical killer whilst making little effort.

The lack of the projectors, the reason we picked this tour, was the biggest disappointment.

Apart from the twenty minutes when the guide was talking, this was actually quite boring. The most exciting thing was some unrelated graffiti.

Rippertour
Hi we are sorry you did not enjoy the tour. However we must point out some inaccuracies in your review. You cannot walk to the crime scenes in 30 minutes. It would be impossible. Secondly nobody would consider a 30 minute tour value for money. Our tour lasts 1 hour and 45 mins and we take in as much as possible with the ripper story. There is still plenty of sites to see from the Ripper’s time, including murder sites, pubs, shops, streets and other locations which featured in the ever day lives of the victims and police. The pub at the end of the tour where you guide was going to take you actually features in the ripper story. The last Whitechapel murder victim was in this pub with the only man to ever be arrested and charged with a Jack the Ripper murder. So very significant. As for unrelated graffiti, it was the only clue ever found in the Ripper case and the scene of another infamous clue which tells us a lot about the killer. These are undisputed facts of the case. Please come again and stay for the whole tour and I promise you will be much more impressed at what we show you. Regards Richard

Highly recommend, our guide was very knowledgable and easy to listen to.
Spoke respectfully of the victims and their situations and livelihoods, made interesting connections to known phrases, gender equality and city developments.
The experience was fun, interesting and gave multiple great insights.
The walk itself was very easy, with short distances between stops.
Recommend having coins/cash at hand to tip the guide at the end if you feel like it. We had just landed in the UK and had no tip-money in our pockets, we felt awful because it was definitely well earned!

Brilliant tour guide who was very knowledgeable and energetic. Visited quite a few places in Whitechapel, and got a sense of what life was like at the end of the 19th century. The projector that the guide had was informative also. Worth the money and makes you want to read up more on the subject. Would also recommend visiting Brick Lane (which you pass as part of the tour), as this street gives a sense of cultural inner city London.

I have always been fascinated by the Jack the Ripper story and with a few days in London last week I decided to book the evening Jack the Ripper tour with Ripper Vision for my group of five. We spent an hour and a half in the Ten Bells Pub to get in the mood and met our tour group at the starting point.
When our tour guide, Mick, showed up we knew immediately that it would be a fun tour. Mick was dressed rather eccentrically, more on that later, and had a very engaging personality. He led our group at a very rapid pace through the streets of White Chapel and stopped often to tell us the history of what happened on that spot. He made the story come alive with his mannerisms and knowledge of the events. We came to find out that his attire, long coat, flat hat, and scarf was the exact clothing reported by a witness who came upon Jack the Ripper hustling down the street after a gruesome murder. At one point we stopped in a dark spot and Mick flashed pictures on the wall with his Ripper Vision projector. We finished upstairs in a pub with Ripper history while Mick talked about possible suspects and such. There was a great assortment of Jack the Ripper merchandise for sale. The tour lasted almost two hours and required a lot of walking.
I thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone. For the spookiest experience do the evening tour. We felt completely safe walking the streets at night and Mick was absolutely fabulous! He lives the story, heart and soul and really puts you in the shoes of Jack the Ripper and his victims.

I thought our tour guide was very knowledgeable but the group was way too big, I’d guess around 30 possibly even as many as 40, it meant we were all huddled around struggling to listen to him and causing obstacles in the street as people walking past us were struggling to get past such a big crowd. On a few occasions we had to actually walk around the corner (so not at the correct murder spot) because there was just so many of us we were literally blocking the road.
Also the ripper vision was a bit of a con, there was only one time a picture was projected onto a wall, the rest of the time we were shown pictures out of a book. No complaints of the tour guide at all, but I think it’s just plain greed to let that many people book a ticket in one “show”.
At 15£ a ticket, there is no reason why there can’t be one tour guide for every 10-15 or so guests.

One of the best tours I’ve been on in recent memory.

With so much competition in the Ripper type guides I took a stab in the dark (I know, terrible pun) and found this recommend on quite a few ‘Things to do in London evening’ type lists at a budget price.

Worth every penny! Our guide-Jamie, was a top bloke in every aspect. Knowledgable, funny, didn’t divert too far from the facts and shed a huge light on the rippers victims rather then just glorifying the killer.

Really well laid out tour which gives you a real idea on the conditions of London back in the day, seeing various pubs the victims were local to, alleys they took in their final stages etc.

Can’t recommend enough,

Judd

Our family of 4 joined Mick (I believe that is his name) on this tour. Mick was insanely knowledgeable and delivered the entire story, over the course of an hour and 45 minutes, like a true professional stage actor. Really impressive. We learned a lot and enjoyed the tour. We did feel it was a lot of walking when in reality you don't see anything as it was. You are just standing at a spot that something happened. The group of people for our tour was VERY large; more than 35, but I do feel Mick handled it well. The finale to the tour was held in a room above a pub. At the time of our tour, COVID was on the rise in Great Britain; being in a room with no ventilation and almost no one wearing a mask (aside from us) did make us uncomfortable.
