About
Filled with narrow lanes and pedestrian-only streets, the historic center of Quebec City is best explored on foot. This guided walking tour ensures you won’t miss the details that make the city so fascinating. Take advantage of Quebec City’s layout by following a downhill route from beginning to end, as a guide shares stories from the fortified city that’s the beating heart of French Canada.

Highlights
  • Experiencing Quebec City with a guide means you’ll see and understand more
  • Visit pedestrian-only sites in the heart of the historic city
  • Follow a gentle, downhill-only route from Upper Town to Lower Town
  • Finish by the Old Quebec Funicular, which links Lower Town and Upper Town
What to expect
  • Make your way to a central location in Quebec City’s Upper Town, and then join your guide for a small-group tour of the historic center—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set out on foot to running commentary on the modern-day culture and long history of Quebec City, passing stone buildings with a distinctly European feel. You’ll see the Fortifications of Quebec, and learn the important role that the city walls once played. Pass La Citadelle de Quebec (Quebec Citadel), an active military installation and the official residence of the Canadian monarch, then take in Notre Dame des Victoires—one of the oldest stone churches in Canada. Cross Place Royale, often called the birthplace of French America, and wrap up the tour near the base of the Old Quebec Funicular, where you can hop a ride back up to the Upper Town without retracing your steps uphill.

Louise LaBelle is a fantastic guide and this walking tour was well worth taking
Oct 2021
We take walking tours all over the world. What set this one apart and made it special was our guide, Lousie LaBelle whose many years living in Quebec gave her a long perspective on the city, its history, and the changes it continues to make. Besides covering all the main sites in Old Quebec, Lousie wove a story together that not only made the tour a great learning experience but made it a ton of fun. Louise is a warm, witty woman whose talent is a joy to participate in.

Our guide made this tour awesome
Our first time in Quebec City so took a walking tour to see and learn more about this beautiful historic place. Our tour guide, Francis, made the tour an interesting, educational, humorous and memorable experience. Throughout our two hour walk through upper and lower old Quebec City, Francis explained in a very animated fashion the politics, religious, social and cultural events that makes this the spectacular destination that it is today. 10 out of 10 for this tour.

It's a great experience!

This was a great thing to do. So fascinating in a town rich with history. Jocelyne was our fantastic guide. She's learned, charming, energetic, and entertaining. She's also 11th generation Quebecois. The tour gives you a much better understanding of everything from the history of Quebec to learning the difference between French and British architecture. A must for your trip here. It'll make your stay that much more enjoyable.

Entertaining and informative tour of Old Quebec
Oct 2021
Dominique was an informed and entertaining tour guide, and her love of Quebec City -- and Samuel de Champlain -- was completely infectious. I'd recommend this tour to anyone who wants to add some texture to their trip and be shown some beautiful spots in the old city. But bundle up! The wind coming off the St. Lawrence is harsh.

Great Fun & Learned Lots too
We had a fabulous time on this tour. Our tour guide was so much fun and also very informative. We learned all kinds of fun facts about the city, and loads about the history too. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and très animé, keeping us all engaged and interested. The limited group size of 12 also made us feel very safe. Highly recommend booking!

The best way to tour Quebec City!
Oct 2021
Annabelle is Quebec’s greatest Ambassador! We had booked only the night before but they were able to accommodate us easily. The group size was about 14 but she could easily be heard. She is a native of Quebec and has a tremendous knowledge of the city’s history. Our group did ask questions and she knew most of our answers!
The city is on a hill, so they start at the top of the hill beside the Chateau Frontenac and spiral down catching a huge amount in the tour. It is listed as a 2 hr tour but plan on having 3 hrs free. She was not slow, but made it a point not to rush through the presentations and it was closer to 2hr 45. We tipped her well! I would do the tour again with her WHEN I return to Quebec. It is a beautiful city.
