Overview
Filled with narrow lanes and pedestrian-only streets, the historic center of Quebec City is best explored on foot. This guided walking tour ensures you won’t miss the details that make the city so fascinating. Take advantage of Quebec City’s layout by following a downhill route from beginning to end, as a guide shares stories from the fortified city that’s the beating heart of French Canada.
What to Expect

Make your way to a central location in Quebec City’s Upper Town, and then join your guide for a small-group tour of the historic center—a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Set out on foot to running commentary on the modern-day culture and long history of Quebec City, passing stone buildings with a distinctly European feel. You’ll see the Fortifications of Quebec, and learn the important role that the city walls once played.

Pass La Citadelle de Quebec (Quebec Citadel), an active military installation and the official residence of the Canadian monarch, then take in Notre Dame des Victoires—one of the oldest stone churches in Canada.

Cross Place Royale, often called the birthplace of French America, and wrap up the tour near the base of the Old Quebec Funicular, where you can hop a ride back up to the Upper Town without retracing your steps uphill.

Guide Anne Tonguay was fantastic - highly recommend a tour

Great tour with my wife and two kids (10 and 13 years old). Anne's great knowledge of history shined through as she related the perspective of Canadians, French, English, Spanish and Americans and others throughout the tour. She made the tour fun and educational.

A very good two-hour overview with lots of history

My wife and I both enjoyed this tour, which might be more interesting to Canadians than to visitors from other countries ... although our guide tied in all of North America and England/France in his narrative. The sights were amazing and you really got a...More

This walking tour is a good way to see the Old Quebec - upper and lower cities. Our guide, Clarise, lives there and was very knowledgeable. In addition to the usual tour information, she provided a lot of personal insight, with humor and charm. (Our...More

Old City and Montmorency Falls Tours - Fantastic!

We selected two private tours in QC — the Old City Walking Tour and the half-day tour to Montmorency Falls. We had Robert Simard for both tours and could not have asked for a better tour guide. He was knowledgeable, had a deep understanding of...More

The actual starting point is inside the Visitors Information Center at the top of upper town. I had the same question, but you don't know until you print your voucher. Then the starting place shows up there. Yes, you can buy... More
