Very poor customer service, neglect of normal standards of health and safety.
Feb 2020
The personal attention and level of customer service was very poor. We were not met at the airport, just told to take a taxi to the hotel: there are several scenarios that could have proved disastrous in the minus 30 degrees temperatures given this lack of customer care and consideration. We were lucky that our luggage did arrive containing suitable clothing, we were lucky to find a taxi after 30 minutes and our hotel only had a room available across an icy road in their annex which had no lift (elevator). As a consequence of not being met, we did not receive our up-to-date itinerary and in fact this was not given to us until the third day! We discovered that another tourist on the same tour was located in a different hotel where breakfast was included in the tariff whereas we were paying $ 80 a day for our four breakfasts. My enquiries to verify this and to ask for recompense were never answered by this tour company. My complaints about these aspects, posted upon our return home were never answered showing a gross contempt for any kind of customer service.

Amazing tour provided by Arctic Tour Canada
First time to Yellowknife and like everybody else we were hoping to see the aurora. It was a last minute decision for us, under knowing nothing about Yellowknife, we booked the tour via KKday app, the Arctic Tours Canada was appointed to us for this amazing adventure.
we were transiting from YVR airport and it was snowing there, the aircraft was delayed for more than an hour for de-icing before departure, with no network to contact arctic tour, the tour guide knew the situation and adjusted his pick up time for us. Once we landed Yellowknife, a very friendly Taiwanese tour guide was there holding up a card with my name on it. We were amazed that he can speak Chinese which we did not request for a Chinese tour on KKday.

We went for the first aurora hunting 30 mins after settled down in the Quality inn hotel, included in the package, location was excellent, thanks Arctic tour!!

Out of all 3 nights , we only missed the aurora for one night due to the cloudy weather, all the other nights we saw the beautiful aurora.

I want to give some credits to Their Taiwanese tour guide “ Dennis “, he is a very kind, professional and efficient tour guide. He took photos for us without us asking, two free professional photos from his pro camera were provided, he will take as many as photos as we wish and let us pick those ones that we like. He’s hard working, he would stay under the cold (-39c) for the longest time to fulfil all the customers photo taking request. Amazing kid!!

we are very satisfied with the service with the “Arctic Tour Canada”. I would love to use them again if I go to Yellowknife next time.

It is a great experience to join Artic Tour for autumn aurora hunting from 29/9 - 2/10. We booked from KK day. In overall, it was a relaxing tour without rush. Kevin(Tour guide) and Willi(driver) are good, friendly and patience to teach us on camera setting. The other two pretty girls tour guide are nice and helpful as well.

All good!Love Yellowknife!Aurora on 29/9 is super amazing!

Breathtaking
Everything was perfectly arranged, from the airport pick up to the activities in the tour. Arrived a little earlier from the first day of aurora hunting, which was amazing, driving on the surface of different frozen lakes, had a very nice guide, whose name I unfortunately forgot, he was very helpful, and very friendly, which made the cold more bearable. I chose to rent clothes from the company, they were perfect for the cold temperature, they included everything, jacket, boots, pants, gloves, a balaclava.
For the aurora hunting nights they always had a hot beverage and a snack to help us.
Also, I would definitely recommend the aurora village experience, that was amazing, and it was the night we saw the wildest most playful lights, so it only made it better.
Also got a tour around Yellowknife, completely guided, they took us in a van, which was nice considering the cold weather and cold wind. All in all, excellent

Seeing auroras was amazing - but i would not book with this company
Mar 2019 • Couples
I would not recommend this company, but in fairness I have to say they did some things well.

On the good side: our pickup at the airport was on time and effective. The cold-weather gear they rented us (parka, snow pants, fleece hat, snowboots) was clean, of excellent quality and in good condition. Oddly, the pants they gave me were way longer than the ones they gave my husband (mine were many inches too long, his a bit too short) but since the waists had some adjustability we were able to simply swap. Our guide for both nights of aurora hunting was Allison; she has a very heavy accent and might be difficult for some English-speakers to understand (OK for anyone very used to Chinese/Taiwanese accents) but was very cheerful, friendly, and extremely helpful with camera advice. And of course, she’s great for all of the many Chinese-speaking tourists. Also, she is passionate about auroras - just loves them and wants everyone else to love them too and see the best “show” possible. She and our driver Wilfred were able to find us some great views, even on the second time out where it had been cloudy all day in town.

The middle night of our tour was spent at Aurora Village; I have reviewed them separately.

Now, the downside. The thing that ruined our opinion of them was when, less than a week before we left for Yellowknife, they contacted us and said, basically”sorry, we made a mistake on your booking and you need to send us $700 more! They clearly acknowledged it was their error; any reputable company would have absorbed the cost themselves. This was a big chunk of the entire price of the trip! AFter a lot of discussion, we got them to absorb a small part of the cost of their mistake; basically we gave up all the other day activities that were included in the itinerary they sent us (skimobiliing, ice road tour) and only kept the hotel, transfers, and aurora hunting/viewing). This alone would cause me to recommend against booking with this company; I just don’t find this ethical behavior.

There were a couple other more minor issues. First, for some reason, they booked us in the Super 8 hotel. We were told this going in and agreed to it; the hotel itself was ok, but what we didn’t know was that it’s in Uptown. That meant we werren’t in walking distance of any of the Downtown and Old Town restaurants/sites/galleries; the one day we went to the Snow King festival we had to take a taxi for nearly $20CAD each way. No one else on either of our aurora tours was at this hotel, so I do not know why we got this “special” treatment.

Related problem: we were told we’d be picked up at 10PM for the aurora tours but both nights, the bus got to our hotel at 10:35-10:40. This was not a problem for the actual tour; we had plenty of time to see the auroras; it would just have been nice to be told the *actual* pickup time so we wouldn’t have to spend more than half an hour hanging around the hotel lobby in all our cold-weather gear. They do this tour every night; surely they should know and be able to plan for how long it gets to all the hotels, especially since they were the ones who put us in that hotel!

But we did get to see auroras on the first and third nights there, so for that reason it was still a wonderful trip despite all of the frustrations. I highly recommend going to Yellowknife if you want to see northern lights - just maybe use a different one of the many tour companies.

Wonderful trip in Yellowknife with Arctic Tours
We came to Yellowknife with a group of 8 people. It was amazing to see the most active Aurora on the first day of arrival after 20 hours flights. All of us were very excited. It was s great and amazing experience. We went to Aurora viewing on the 2nd day which was still good. But weather on 3rd day was very cloudy with very less Aurora although Willy, our tour guide has tried his best hunting around even to the farther area.

Willy and Caily, the Chinese guide, were both very nice. We joined also the days tours for hiking and buffalo (bison) which were also great.

We were very satisfied with Arctic Tours in this trip.

It is amazing to watch the northern lights!
Jan 2018
I was so lucky to see the Aurora the first night when I arrived, and it was marvellous! It started as a white rainbow crossed the Great Slave Lake, and then red color appeared followed by purple orange yellow green and blue! Better book 3 viewing tours in case the weather is not coorprating.

Exploring Yellowknife
Jan 2018 • Family
Tour guides were great. The driver on the second night hunting took us on a great adventure to frozen lakes all over the place, despite knowing it was too cloudy to see the aurora; so we still had fun! Standing on a frozen lake in the eerie light and absolute silence was pretty cool. Didn't see the lights at all (3 nights) but that was due to the cloud, not the tour people! We were glad we hired the warm clothing as we really felt the cold! Had fun ice fishing, despite the cold. We were looked after well by our two guides, Winfred and Lucas. We learned lots and had fun. (Lunch was provided too) This activity was definitely a highlight. The City tour (really interesting!) and dog sledding were organised for us, as well as dinner and 'aurora viewing' at the Aurora Village. We were aware that the conditions were not great so we were disappointed but not surprised that we did not see the aurora on our last night either.
Our only negative was that nobody met us on arrival at the airport. Arctic Tours sent a taxi to take us to the airport for departure as the shuttle didn't arrive... but we got there on time. Our family of four adults really enjoyed our time at Yellowknife and would love to return. No aurora but lots of other experiences in this very special place!

Good trip. The guides are very nice. Chelsea introduced me to visit Resto and museums, very hospitable.
The package was good for a single tourist. The only thing I felt sorry was the bad weather which made me unable to see Aurora. I have to go next year.
