    What to Expect
This trip is perfect for those who want a self-drive option. Drive south along the spectacular Icefields Parkway and approximately 40 km to the put in location on the Sunwapta River. The journey along the Icefields Parkway offers stunning vistas of the Rocky Mountains and great opportunities to see some of the local wildlife. Once at the put in location, you'll change into your wetsuit as your guides prepare the boats and equipment.

Your safety is always the main concern so prior to departure on the river, your guides will provide a safety talk. All guides are trained in First Aid, CPR and are federally licensed. They are committed to sharing incredible white water rafting experiences with you and your family

The Sunwapta River emerges from the Columbia Icefield and offers an exciting combination of fast, fun rapids, incredible scenery and abundant wildlife. You'll raft very close to the headwaters of this silt-laden river. Enjoy an hour and a half of splashes and breathtaking rocky mountain scenery. The magnificent scenery of the Canadian Rockies and Jasper National Park surrounds you while you raft. Look for wildlife along the river banks or simply enjoy the lively white water rapids. After your excitement on the water, it’s back on the bus to change into your dry clothes.

The Sunwapta River is as fun in the rain as it is in the sun because you’re going to get wet regardless. Your local trip operator will provide all the gear and warm clothes you need, including a wetsuit, booties, paddle jacket, life jacket and helmet as well as fleece tops and neoprene gloves for those really chilly days. A towel, dry set of clothes, a snack and water may be left on the bus for after your trip. Wear your shorts or a bathing suit to wear under your wetsuit. It is not recommended you bring valuables along. Your driver will be taking photos at several locations along the river so there is no need for your camera or phone on the river. Pictures will be ready for purchase on a memory stick at the end of your adventure.

We first did the Athabasca level 2 rafting, which was already very nice. Immediately after we came back in town we booked the Sunwapta level 3. That was even more exciting. The staff that we met (Tia, Ben, Shane) were all amazing. We simply loved it and highly recommend it.

I have never been whitewater rafting before, despite this being my second summer in Jasper. I was highly impressed with the level of organisation and passion by all of the guides. Mike was the guide on our raft. He did a fantastic job of making the whole experience exciting but

Had a great time with Spencer,Jeff, Liam, Shane and Eddie on the river this morning . The adventure started with a warm welcome before boarding a refitted (iconic) school bus to the River itself. The group was split into rafts and we had the pleasure of being in Jeff's safe

We had the Sunwapta River rafting trip with 3 adults, 1 child. It was a 3.5 hour trip (about 1 hour on the river). Our guide, Michael, was great. We were pretty new to whitewater rafting and he took good care of us. He talked to us about the landscape, was funny and kept the
