      Interesting night walk
Interesting to see the frozen waterfall in winter and guide did good job to explain and show us about the different landscapes and stream. Night walk with cleats was an interesting experience than walking in the noon.

Phenomenal walk, with knowledgeable, friendly expert guides.
Amazing walk, made hugely more enjoyable and informative with our guides (one in training). They knew so much about the area, physical and human geography - and way beyond the “standard script”. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

Make a killing!! If I had all this ice in Texas!!
Once in a life time experience!! I would say.. from someone who lives in the oven and travel to the ice box!! Ive done trails at +100° to now -0°... like i said before life time experience... for someone who is not accustomed to being in a cold climate it can be a bit apprehensive... but i did it!! wonderful guide, great tips as far as hiking this trail !! and didn't let me quit... i just wanted to reach the lower falls and that would of been fine for me!! Try not to over layer even in the cold your body will begin to over heat!! yes it made me sweat... but a wonderful experience!! oh if really cold temps you might want to double on you socks only part that i felt cold but on the way down had a reverse affect??

      Great tour! Highly recommend
I had an amazing time. Booking an appointment was a breeze. Even though I arrived a bit late at the meeting point, our tour guide patiently waited for me. The pickup and drop-off locations were incredibly convenient. Our guide, who I believe was named Molly or Nicole, was not only exceptionally knowledgeable but also very friendly and professional. I'm genuinely thankful for such a fantastic experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

      Snowshoeing to Paint Pots
Emma, our guide, was great. She had a lot of knowledge and she made the tour fun - she even got me to agree to toboggan down a hill! The scenery was stunning and it was a lovely sunny day (although sadly too warm to make maple taffy in the snow). Being a small group (something this tour company specialises in) made it more enjoyable and I would highly recommend this tour.

      Johnston Canyon Icewalk
Having gone on the Johnston Canyon Evening Icewalk on a previous holiday we wanted to go back in the daytime for a different view/experience. Max, our guide, was fantastic. He was very friendly and engaging and made the trip very enjoyable. The scenery was stunning. I would highly recommend this tour for anybody visiting the Banff area.

Winter Tour: Banff and Its Wildlife
Emma, our guide, was great. She was very friendly and as she drove us around to different locations she told us a lot about the history of Banff and the locations we went to. There were a lot of photo opportunities of stunning scenery. We were also lucky enough to see some of the local wildlife including elk. Would highly recommend this tour.

      Great tour!
This was a wonderful tour! The drive wasn't too far out of central Banff. It was warmer than usual in Banff but the location of our tour had fresh snow. The hike was beautiful and not too challenging, mostly flat. Very informative with great tour guides. Also had a great group of people on our tour. Would definitely recommend.

      Wonderful Tour!
This tour was wonderful! We were with Phoebe and she challenged us not to use our head lamps by the end of the tour. Halfway through the tour, no one had them on and we were only walking by the light of the snow. It was wonderful! So beautiful and peaceful and SILENT! I recommend for sure!

      A stunning half day out
Walking on a frozen lake was surreal and the views were stunning! Some amazing photo opportunities and got to have a look inside the Fairmont. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable on the drive there and back, and we were given just the right amount of time at the lake

A must-do tour when in Banff!!
The views were absolutely stunning and we were given ample time to stop and take photos. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and catered for the pace of the group very well! Is 100% a tour I would recommend, I’m still mind blown from what we saw in the canyon. The walk was relatively easy as well, a grand total of 3 gentle hills that weren’t that taxing

      Fun and informative
Took the snowshoeing to paint pots tour. Liam our guide was great. On the coach ride he gave us loads of interesting facts about Banff, it's wildlife and the mountains. During the trip, he took into account everyone's pace that they needed to travel at and keep it fun at all times, even having us have a little race in the snow. He made us maple taffy tests and we had hot chocolate too. Would recommend the trip, not too overly energetic but great fun and beautiful scenery. Glad Liam was out guide as he made the trip!

Our whole day was a great experience!! My family (3 of us) were the only ones in the van with our fantastic guide Anick. She was so informative and friendly and made our day one to remember. We went to the Discover Grizzly bears which was in Golden B.C. Kicking Horse Resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and Anick was always ready with an answer to any of our questions. For an extra “lucky” bonus on our way there from Banff we saw Nakoda “the white spirit bear (grizzly) along the way on the beside the trans Canada highway. Anick said “ Spotting the bear is like seeing a unicorn LOL very rare indeed. We stayed far away from Nakoda and got a few good pics with my zoom lens. I recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys gondola and ski lift rides up a mountain with the beautiful views and informative info on Boo the grizzly bear who resides in his own many acres near the top. Plus we had a great meal in the restaurant up on the summit. If you book this trip you will enjoy it and if you are lucky you may get Anick for your guide

This trip was nothing short of amazing. Tyler, our guide made the trip for us. He is very knowledgeable and gave loads of Information and facts about the area and wildlife. The drive from Banff to Golden was very interesting, Tyler actually spotted a Grizzly and was able to pull into a turnout safely so we could photograph from a safe distance. We also spotted 2 black bears, one right at the roadside. Again, Information and story's recounted en route to Kicking horse was very interesting. The ride in the open chair lift to see Boo is well organised and the talk from the guides is informative, especially the escape stories. Lunch was at Double Black which was OK then the Gondola ride to the top of the mountain was breathtaking. The views from the summit are impossible to describe and must be seen to be appreciated. On the return down the mountain we saw and were able to photograph Boo in his enclosure playing in water. The journey back to Banff was via a short stop at emerald lake, again a beautiful experience and chance for photos. Tyler recounted several encounters with bears on the return journey along with more facts about the parks. This trip is a must do if visiting Banff, we will certainly be re-booking on our next visit.

Hi Graham, Thanks for taking the time to share your experience on the Discover Grizzly Bears Tour. We're impressed with how many bears you (and Tyler) were able to spot throughout the day! Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is experiencing some staffing shortages this month and so unfortunately our lunch location has been temporarily moved from Eagle's Eye at the summit to Double Black but we appreciate your understanding on this, and so glad you enjoyed the tour.

Had a fantastic tour with Andrew going around Yoho national park and seeing Boo the bear.

Andrew was a great tour leader, friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fantastic at keeping the tour on track 👌🏻

Loved hearing about the bears of Banff and learning the difference between black and grizzly.

The only thing I didn’t realise was quite how much of the day was taken up by driving (just about half), as I couldn’t see this mentioned in the description of the tour. However, Andrew provided great narration to pass by the time and there were stops along the way at various land marks where you could take photos and have a comfort break.

It was incredible seeing Boo the grizzly bear and learning about all the conservation. Really good experience.

Great overall experience-saw lots of things that weren’t on our radar at all. Fifteen minutes isn’t that much time to see a site and visit restroom-might want to rethink timing of events. Didn’t see hardly any other wildlife from the van but lots of time spent at KH Resort- planning my return adventure there instead of Banff.

We had the best time traveling to Kicking Horse Mountain with Roz, our guide for the day. She was so knowledgeable, fun, and very passionate about the area and Boo, the grizzly! We spotted Boo playing and splashing around in his pond he dug himself! The gondola was down during our scheduled lunch time, but we were able to ride it up later, and still had a lovely lunch in a restaurant below. The views were spectacular and Roz made it so much more enjoyable! Thanks so much!!!

We saw a lot of beautiful scenery and the driver/guide was very pleasant. The only bear we saw was Boo in the refuge, which was a little disappointing. We spent the vast majority of the time on the bus, a lot longer than I thought we would.

We had a wonderful day on this tour. Our guide, Kelsea, as others have said, was excellent, informative and friendly. All the locations were impressive but the highlights were enjoying the Takakkaw falls in the fresh morning air and sunshine, and seeing Boo the grizzly up close. Best tour of our 3 weeks in Canada.

The landscapes in Banff and region are endless. Our guide, Roni was amazing. I loved meeting the Boo Bear and the lunch included in the tour was delicious, the restaurant is on top of a mountain, we have to go by gondola, the scenery is wonderful from up there.

For the $220 per person we paid, I don't think it was worth it. The tour is sold as "Grizzly Bear Experience" and has a strong focus on seeing the grizzly bear as the main feature of the tour. When we got to the sanctuary at 2pm, we were told the bear is usually in the top of the paddock sleeping between 12-3, which begs the question, why bring us here between those times if you know the bear is sleeping? We stayed there for 1 hour and didn't see the bear, this is really disappointing as this is the ONLY reason we booked the tour. Also the size of the paddock is approx 2 football pitches so unless the bear is at the front in the viewing area, it's like finding a needle in a haystack! I understand it's a wild bear so seeing it isn't guaranteed but that was never made clear to us at the point of booking it - if it was then it wouldn't be an issue. The tour company shouldn't have it down as "Grizzly Bear Experience" if only 1 hour out of 10 are spent at the sanctuary. It should be renamed to something more generic like "Banff Adventure Day Out" because the activities for the day are a waterfall visit, gondola ride, lunch at the top of a mountain, chairlift ride, bear sanctuary and Emerald Lake visit. The other 5 activities were really good so I'm not knocking those but for the bear sanctuary to only be 1 out of 6 activities, but be the main focus and name of the tour, is VERY misleading. Even if we did see the bear, I think my point of it being misleading and over promising is still valid. We went back to the store to tell them we were unhappy and they said they will see what they can do - I'm not expecting a refund, I just want them to look at how they offer this tour and stop overselling it because it's a lot of money to splash out on a day long activity.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the Discover Grizzly Bears Tour. From looking at your booking, it appears that you booked this tour (that we operate) through another company, Banff Adventures. We're sorry to hear that the tour information may not have been accurately communicated to you when booking, and we are following up with them in relation to this as we certainly communicate this clearly to all guests that book direct with us. This tour does have a guaranteed grizzly bear sighting*, where if you don't happen to see Boo during the tour (which rarely occurs) then we offer free tickets to visit the grizzly bear refuge again, and I believe in this instance that Banff Adventures also offered you free canoe and bike rentals during your visit. While Boo the grizzly bear does live in the largest enclosed grizzly bear habitat in the world he usually makes an appearance right up close during the tour, where guests can see him from merely metres away. However, he is a wild animal and there are rare instances where this may not occur such as unfortunately happened on the day of your tour. This is one of our favourite tours and we're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your day out with us. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly on info@banfftours.com to obtain your grizzly bear refuge tickets.
