Our whole day was a great experience!! My family (3 of us) were the only ones in the van with our fantastic guide Anick. She was so informative and friendly and made our day one to remember. We went to the Discover Grizzly bears which was in Golden B.C. Kicking Horse Resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and Anick was always ready with an answer to any of our questions. For an extra “lucky” bonus on our way there from Banff we saw Nakoda “the white spirit bear (grizzly) along the way on the beside the trans Canada highway. Anick said “ Spotting the bear is like seeing a unicorn LOL very rare indeed. We stayed far away from Nakoda and got a few good pics with my zoom lens. I recommend this trip to anyone who enjoys gondola and ski lift rides up a mountain with the beautiful views and informative info on Boo the grizzly bear who resides in his own many acres near the top. Plus we had a great meal in the restaurant up on the summit. If you book this trip you will enjoy it and if you are lucky you may get Anick for your guide

This trip was nothing short of amazing. Tyler, our guide made the trip for us. He is very knowledgeable and gave loads of Information and facts about the area and wildlife. The drive from Banff to Golden was very interesting, Tyler actually spotted a Grizzly and was able to pull into a turnout safely so we could photograph from a safe distance. We also spotted 2 black bears, one right at the roadside. Again, Information and story's recounted en route to Kicking horse was very interesting. The ride in the open chair lift to see Boo is well organised and the talk from the guides is informative, especially the escape stories. Lunch was at Double Black which was OK then the Gondola ride to the top of the mountain was breathtaking. The views from the summit are impossible to describe and must be seen to be appreciated. On the return down the mountain we saw and were able to photograph Boo in his enclosure playing in water. The journey back to Banff was via a short stop at emerald lake, again a beautiful experience and chance for photos. Tyler recounted several encounters with bears on the return journey along with more facts about the parks. This trip is a must do if visiting Banff, we will certainly be re-booking on our next visit.

Hi Graham, Thanks for taking the time to share your experience on the Discover Grizzly Bears Tour. We're impressed with how many bears you (and Tyler) were able to spot throughout the day! Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is experiencing some staffing shortages this month and so unfortunately our lunch location has been temporarily moved from Eagle's Eye at the summit to Double Black but we appreciate your understanding on this, and so glad you enjoyed the tour.

The landscapes in Banff and region are endless. Our guide, Roni was amazing. I loved meeting the Boo Bear and the lunch included in the tour was delicious, the restaurant is on top of a mountain, we have to go by gondola, the scenery is wonderful from up there.

Hi Ana, Thank you for taking the time to share how much you enjoyed the Discover Grizzly Bears Tour with Ronni. This is one of our favourite tours too! We never tire of seeing Boo foraging, playing and exploring! Plus you're absolutely right, the views and lunch up at Eagle's Eye restaurant is pretty great as well. We hope to see you back in Banff again soon.

For the $220 per person we paid, I don't think it was worth it. The tour is sold as "Grizzly Bear Experience" and has a strong focus on seeing the grizzly bear as the main feature of the tour. When we got to the sanctuary at 2pm, we were told the bear is usually in the top of the paddock sleeping between 12-3, which begs the question, why bring us here between those times if you know the bear is sleeping? We stayed there for 1 hour and didn't see the bear, this is really disappointing as this is the ONLY reason we booked the tour. Also the size of the paddock is approx 2 football pitches so unless the bear is at the front in the viewing area, it's like finding a needle in a haystack! I understand it's a wild bear so seeing it isn't guaranteed but that was never made clear to us at the point of booking it - if it was then it wouldn't be an issue. The tour company shouldn't have it down as "Grizzly Bear Experience" if only 1 hour out of 10 are spent at the sanctuary. It should be renamed to something more generic like "Banff Adventure Day Out" because the activities for the day are a waterfall visit, gondola ride, lunch at the top of a mountain, chairlift ride, bear sanctuary and Emerald Lake visit. The other 5 activities were really good so I'm not knocking those but for the bear sanctuary to only be 1 out of 6 activities, but be the main focus and name of the tour, is VERY misleading. Even if we did see the bear, I think my point of it being misleading and over promising is still valid. We went back to the store to tell them we were unhappy and they said they will see what they can do - I'm not expecting a refund, I just want them to look at how they offer this tour and stop overselling it because it's a lot of money to splash out on a day long activity.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on the Discover Grizzly Bears Tour. From looking at your booking, it appears that you booked this tour (that we operate) through another company, Banff Adventures. We're sorry to hear that the tour information may not have been accurately communicated to you when booking, and we are following up with them in relation to this as we certainly communicate this clearly to all guests that book direct with us. This tour does have a guaranteed grizzly bear sighting*, where if you don't happen to see Boo during the tour (which rarely occurs) then we offer free tickets to visit the grizzly bear refuge again, and I believe in this instance that Banff Adventures also offered you free canoe and bike rentals during your visit. While Boo the grizzly bear does live in the largest enclosed grizzly bear habitat in the world he usually makes an appearance right up close during the tour, where guests can see him from merely metres away. However, he is a wild animal and there are rare instances where this may not occur such as unfortunately happened on the day of your tour. This is one of our favourite tours and we're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your day out with us. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly on info@banfftours.com to obtain your grizzly bear refuge tickets.

The scenery is OUTSTANDING. Weather was beautiful with no rain. Needless to say we were very happy. Lake Louise's water is so blue and beautiful. Space Needle was super as was the Chuhily Gardens are also hard to believe and Bouchart Gardens are a can't miss.

When we first noted the price tag on this trip our initial thoughts were, it’s expensive. I’m so happy that we didn’t allow the cost to stop us as it was worth every single cent!
From the moment we were picked up by our guide Tyler, the day was packed solid.
Our first stop was Spiral tunnel, part of the route that the monster freights travel long , are an incredible piece of engineering.
The Takakkaw waterfall was next and beautiful, that was just the journey!
Next was the ‘Kicking horse’ resort gondola with its stunning views on the way up to the highest restaurant, where the views become even more spectacular. You won’t be disappointed when you reach the restaurant, it’s top-class, and the food although simple was a great standard and great service.
Next was the chairlift to see Boo The grizzly, who we felt lucky to see, although I think most do get to see him, you’ll hear Boos story which is initially sad, but positive too!
Final destination was the beautiful Emerald lake, the perfect end to an amazing day.
But the biggest shout has to go to our guide Tyler, an unassuming guy who was absolutely first rate in his amazing amount of knowledge, our time spent travelling was filled from start to finish with so many interesting stories, facts and information, he was full anecdotes. He linked everything up and brought it all to life, an incredible guide and a trip worth every cent!!❤️

Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed this day. Our fabulous guide (Annik) was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. There were just 15 of us on our tour and it was perfect. We saw some fabulous sights and the lunch at the Eagle's Eye Restaurant was great too. We felt very lucky to see Boo, he was spotted playing in his pool about 10 minutes after we arrived at the Refuge and we could keep him in sight for the entire hour. We don't generally like seeing animals in captivity but this was quite different, Boo has a huge area to live in and although he could never be released back into the wild he looked perfectly happy and relaxed in his environment. We learnt so much about bears today and will remember this day for many, many years to come. Annik was fab!

A little late with the review, as we went on this trip in September 2018, but so good had to make sure I did leave one.

My wife and I were spending a few days in Banff, whilst we wanted to see as much as we could in the 3 days we were there, we were concerned we were giving up a third of it for one trip; we need not haven been concerned.

This was an excellent trip, with lots to see. We spent some time travelling; had an excellent tour guide in Pam. We had dinner at the highest restaurant in Canada - Eagle's Eye Restaurant - Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Best of all we got to see Boo in a very spacious enclosure, the team that look after him are truly dedicated to the cause.

Highly recommend this trip.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on the Discover Grizzly Bears Tour with Pam. We're thrilled to hear that the tour was so memorable that you made such an effort to tell us about your trip and could remember it so well even a month later. It can always be a hard decision on what to see and do when you only have a few days, but we think this is a great full day choice (and certainly a staff favourite). There's nothing quite like seeing a grizzly bear right up close, and certainly a much more enjoyable way of doing so! We're so glad you enjoyed this tour as much as we do, and we hope to see you back again soon.

Our overall experience with DBT was very positive. On the first day, Gina took us around. She was very knowledgeable and extremely caring and did a great job, including taking us to very unusual places. Second-day bus tour with Norm was a lot of fun. drop off by Lynn was very enjoyable and friendly. Overall, we were able to do a lot in the limited time and even with slightly adverse weather at times.

We had an amazing day. Seen a lot like lake Emerald, the spiral tunnels and Boo the grizzly. Learned a lot about the Grizzly bears in Banff NP from our splendid guide Matt. Like we say: throw in a dime and you get back worth a dollar. If you wanna see a lot of Banff NP and care for bears, this tour is highly recommended.

Hi Cas, Thank you for sharing how much you enjoyed the Discover Grizzly Bears Tour with Matt. We love this full-day tour too - seeing Boo right up close is such an amazing experience (and one that no-one really wants normally!). Thanks for your recommendation and we hope to see you back in Banff again soon.
