I absolutely loved my experience with Luis and Hulbany during our Punta Cana tour. I wanted to see how people really lived their lives and I was served. Luis was super informative, charismatic, funny and attentive! I don't think I can praise him enough. We saw houses, shops, sugar cane plantations, coffee and cacao farms, saw the countryside and the city. We tasted hand-rolled cigars after seeing one being rolled, ate freshly cut sugar cane, raw, cooked and ground cacao beans, a home-cooked meal made by the family who owned the farm we were visiting and more. All the while, Luis provided super interesting facts about all the things we were seeing and how life truly was for everyone here. This trip is worth every dollar and I highly recommend it to people who are interested in getting out of the controled environnement of resorts en hotels and go see the world how it really is, through the eyes of their locals. Muchas gracias, Luis y Hulbany!

The tour guide arrived at your hotel on time for our scheduled pickup up. After stopping at other hotels for other people, the tour guide Darrio went over the itinerary for the day and pointed out places of interest along the drive. Upon reaching Santo Domingo we were offered a bottle of water and advised not to stray from the group. We made many stops including Christopher Columbus residences, a cathedral and gift shop. The tour of the Masion where 3 generations of Christopher Columbus family lived felt rushed with little time to take photographs and appreciate the building and artifacts. Please dress appropriately for warm weather. The tour guide occasionally stopped to ensure that everyone was present before moving on. Everyone was given stickers to be easily identified. The food was delicious at the restaurant we stopped at in the town (make sure to try the plantain lasagna), it is covered in the cost. Overall great trip and I was able to capture some amazing photographs.

We were staying at Secrets Cap Cana

We booked at the lobby desk through Amstar

Pick up was 7:15 and would definitely recommend taking some snacks as it’s a while before lunch and no breakfast stop

We had a transfer to a garage and waited 10 mins for main bus. Overall around 3 hours travel there

Our guide was Monchy and driver Enrique and they were both excellent

We had a good introduction into island history as well as the city

There was quite a bit of walking and stairs and we were looked after with water

We really enjoyed the cathedral and the pantheon, the 4D cinema a little gimmicky and would have preferred a bit of free time to enjoy the square with a coffee rather than the souvenir shop.

The home of Columbus’s son was fascinating as was museum, and a few different guides here added to experience

Lunch was excellent good choice and a nice flamingo dance, only extra was for alcoholic drinks

On way back stopped at a wonderful chocolate factory, Choco Punto which we bought chocolate and drinks 😋

Overall definitely worth a day trip to see the real DR

I would advise people to not book through this company. A group of 6 of us booked and were told to be in the lobby by 625am, we arrived exactly at 630am (there was a 5 min grace period). After 15 minutes of waiting we called the company and were told that the bus had already left and would not return. The manager of the company explained that the bus had waited until a few min after 630am and that the concierge was called and stated no one was waiting for the tour. We thought this was strange considering that all the tour buses enter the resort and wait at the lobby. We spoke with concierge and they stated no one had called and that the touring companies are always allowed to come in and wait for guests in the lobby area. I then asked to speak to someone else in charge of the tour company and was told that she was the manager and in charge of operations. She preceded to tell me the only option was to take a taxi and meet the bus or that we would only get refunded for two people. I told her it was unacceptable because our group was in the lobby at the correct time and that us trying to meet up with a taxi was unreasonable considering the bus was already on the road and about 30 minutes away. The lady was extremely rude and condescending, I told her that I didn’t appreciate the attitude and that I was trying to make sense of how everything had happened and that it was not our mistake so that only being refunded for two tickets was ridiculous. She then told me she had another call and to make up my mind about which option we wanted. She mentioned they could also schedule us on another day but told her that we would be going back home by then. I was unable to get the name of the lady I spoke with but she stated she is the one in charge of the company and that apparently there was no one else I could speak with. This is the worst customer service I have experienced and honestly felt like the company just wanted to take our money.

The reviews of this tour operator were extremely misleading for me so I decided to leave this one in order for others not to be tricked like us.

Out tour guide was Manchi. He didn’t provide an itinerary to us as guides usually do. So we had no clue what our stops are and where we are heading next. Instead he told us that if we are left behind we should take an Uber which will cost 150-200$. Little did I know he had an experience of leaving people behind!

During our lunch (lunch was not tasty and the washroom of the restaurant was disgusting) he again didn’t tell us when we are leaving the place and where we are going next. Me and my Mom went to the washroom and came back in 5 minutes to find that the group has left. He got very stresses as the city doesn’t look safe at all and started running to find them. After talking to people on the streets we were able to run and find the group.

I went to talk to the guide and asked him why he left without warning and he seemed not to care at all, did not apologize. When I asked him why is he not counting people or at least waiting for a few minutes to make sure everyone is there he didn’t answer at all.

He continued the rest of the tour in the same fashion not taking responsibility for anyone but leaving first and not looking after people at all .

Very disappointed by this approach and recommend avoid using this tour operator as it’s just not safe.

Tour was good, our guide, Munchie, did a great job explaining everything. Our tour was on a rainy day and we were given umbrellas to use which was very helpful.

The itinerary we did didn’t come close to matching what is advertised. We missed out on opportunities to see more history and instead took a long stop at a souvenir shop and then stopped at a chocolate and rum shop on the way back. Would have preferred to see all the sites the itinerary said instead of spending over an hour and a half at shops.

Also be aware that the Covid precautions weren’t quite as advertised. The site said tours would be booked at 50% , ours was 100% full. People were supposed to wear masks on the bus and inside all indoor stops and they didn’t and the guide didn’t ask them to. On this trip you will be in tight indoor spaces and rules won’t be enforced.

A bit of a tourist scam to be honest. We did the tour to Santo Domingo and it was mediocre at its best. Don't get me wrong, it's value for the money, probably the cheapest way to spend a day in Santo Domingo if you are stuck in Punta Cana without a car.

The problem is the total lack of respect for the tourists. Half of the stops during the tour are in rip off fake stores that will pay commission to the guide on over priced items. There is a chocolate factory that even display prices online for 4.5 USD and on your tour they charge 7 USD. There is a huge stop on a souvenir shop that is completely overpriced and they make you stay there for 40 minutes and also they take you to a "jewellery factory" that is dubious at its best and sell cheap looking jewels for a total rip off price. Even the post cards are sold on a higher price to accommodate the commission all parts are taking. And to finish off at the way back they almost beg for 5 stars review with some commotion on the importance of it all for their careers.

A tour that spends more time in stores and commission driven places than at the beautiful churches and museums of the city is clearly a scam and should be avoided or, at least go prepared to just enjoy the good part of it.

We had a great time on our tour, I would definitely recommend. We came from a Punta Cana hotel and the first stop was a nice chocolate making place (lots of people excitedly bought lots of chocolate-related gifts and treats), then a couple of hours to Santo Domingo. We saw loads of museums and sites, and the only reason we gave 4/5 stars as the rating is that it’s so rapidfire from site to site. You don’t get much chance to soak anything up - but I suppose that’s the trade off when you take a tour. The lunch was great (and included in the cost), a buffet of Dominican food with drinks and a merengue performance.

While there are a few good aspects of this tour, it overall left a poor impression with me and my family. This was a 12 hour tour that really could've been done in about 6 or so. You're likely better off with another tour company.

* Poor communication early with Runners. I sent them a message a week to ask about vegetarian options for lunch and got no response, and followed up twice about pickup instructions before getting a response the day before
* As other reviews have mentioned, the tour i more geared towards getting us to spend money versus showing us the city. We were taken to multiple souvenir shops during the trip, including factory "tours" that consisted of 5 minute explanations then more salesmanship. I was particularly incensed by our tour guide introducing us & telling us a sob story about and older man who then tried to push us to buy the postcards.
* In contrast, we barely got enough time to see some of the main sights of the city - we only got to see the Columbus Lighthouse from a bus from far away, and spent less than 10 minutes at the Palace or inside the Pantheon.
* Our tour guide Miguel was friendly, but did not give us much info, and sometimes inaccurate info about the city and it's monuments. Because of the mixed group, he had to give each statement in both Spanish and English, which made things feel very SLOW and repetitive.
* Our return to Punta Cana was made even slower by having to drop off each individual group back to their respective resorts.

This is a lovely tour of Santa Domingo that I would highly recommend for rubies interested in the country’s history.

The driver, tour guide, vehicle, organisation, breaks are all well planned and executed making a long day possible. I’ve been on a few tours where I can’t say the same!

Overall we had a great time and learnt lots about the famous city of Santa Domingo
