We did an excursion out of Amber Cove. Winston was an amazing guide! We were thoroughly impressed. At one point, my wife and another couple of female passengers wanted to head back to a store in the town square to buy some Vanilla...Winston stopped the tour and accompanied them over to the store to make the purchase...all returned safe and happy! Thank you Winston for a great day in the Dominican Republic of Amber Cove.

We had a wonderful time on our Amber Cove Shore Excursion. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. All of the stops were great. Unfortunately the fog set in just before we took the cable car back down. At least we were about to take photos prior to that of the city below before the fog rolled in. We would highly recommend this tour.

From Carnival port to pick up point as described in the video link you will receive. Winston our guide was personable and knowledgeable (former MLB Indians farm team player!). The tour van was newer and reliable (some excursions, not so much...). Stops were entertaining and educational. Cable car offered nice views into and out of the cloud at the top of the mountain! Depending on the season your more apt to have a cloud or not. Fruit and drinks included as are any attraction fees. Worth the trip and recommend!

Hello and thank you! We are really glad you watched the video and that it was helpful. Winston is a super ambassador of goodwill for this country and just an all-around great guy and host :-) Also, its wonderful you got the dramatic effect of bursting through the clouds in the cable car. We really appreciate the review and recommendation - come back and see us again real soon!

The talk by our guide was very informative and helpful. It easily filled the time of the about 1 hour drive up to the 2nd highest point in the DR, where we got on a cable car for the ride back down to Puerto Plata. E.g., hurricanes are rare; last was in 1979. We then had a couple stops in the city, with ample time to learn more and browse. We got to see a very different view of the DR from our prior trip to Samana. Then, we saw many homes without electricity or water. This time, we saw many that were quite nice and none that were in poor condition.

We met our guide, Winston, just outside the cruise port gate. Winston was an excellent guide showing us the highlights of Puerto Plata including the town square, Umbrella Street and the Pink Street. He told us all about the history of the Dominican Republic as we rode and walked, also seeing the beach and Ft. San Felipe. Then we were off to ride the Cable Car to the Isabel de Torres National Park where the Botanical Gardens are and the statue of Christ the Redeemer. The views of the coast and Puerto Plata were stunning. This excursion is a great way to get a quick overview of Dominican Republic in a short amount of time. Gives you a feel for the landscape, the culture and the people.

Please be advised that the you may have substantially less than 45 minutes to reach the meeting point which is actually outside the gates of the port. The were no signs pointing us to the correct place and the 12 minute walk is a very fast walk! If anyone in your group is handicapped or slower, the walk may take more than 20 minutes. They left my group stranded outside the port at the mercy of the local cab drivers (not cool!). I'm still fighting to get my money back. Don't trust these people!

Hello! I am Jules and I am at the port myself nearly every ship call. I have walked from the ship myself at a leisurely pace. We set our estimated walk times based on actual guest arrival averages. We also keep detailed ship and guest arrival logs so we know to the minute when the first guest and last guest arrives. If we are missing anyone (which is not the norm), a team member checks the sidewalk inside the port. We (I) notify everyone waiting on our transport we are waiting for a guest and that they will be given a grace period. If the guest does not arrive, I or another Fun Coordinator waits at the meet location an additional 15-20 minutes for the late guest. If the guest arrives within 5 minutes, we arrange for the guest to meet the tour. We never have nor will we ever wait "less than 45-minutes". Its not who we are. Its not what we do. I understand you are frustrated that you missed your experience but all guests have access to detailed meet instructions and a map. We cannot hold a bus of 12-18 guests for someone who is very late. As a very kind reminder - review systems can be very helpful to guests and business owners but it can also be used as a weapon. I hope your future travels are happy and adventure-filled.

Milton was fun and very knowledgeable! Wonderful day off the cruise. Small group of 18. On the cruise you will be in a group of 40. Much better with Amber Cove adventures! I hope so if you guys have the opportunity to have Milton as your tour guide. Also the bus driver Perfecto was very good. He took his time navigating the pot holes on the street. Very curious driver. FIVE STAR MILTON!!!!!

This is the dirtiest town I have ever seen! There was a canal of water that was filfthy with trash! The vendors at the fort were in your face pushy and touching us begging for us to buy things! The church downtown was pretty, t.hat's the only good thing found at this port.

Booked with Amber Cove Adventures because we felt it offered the best day tour for the money. After disembarking on our cruise ship, there was about a 15 to 20 minute walk to tour pickup point, due to Carnival's policy of "if you take our boat, you will be enticed to take our over-priced tours, or we will make it difficult for local tour companies to operate". We were met at pickup point by Francisco who had a bottle of cold water in hand on way to our ride. Our mini-bus was air-conditioned with 12 of us on a bus that held 20. Victor was our capable guide for the day and he was great. Our tour was as advertised with no rush and a lot of information about the island and the area we explored that made up Puerto Plata Province. The stops at Mt Isabel de Torre and the cable car ride back down the mountain were memorable as was San Felipe, the capital of the province. ACA is fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and professional guide as Victor in their employ. I do however, strongly suggest if booka tour with ACA, you use Pay Pal to cut down on the aggravation factor.

Well worth it. Don't go in morning too crowded. Go about 200 less people less wait. It is quite gorgeous and the ride up the mountain is exciting.
