About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- debbie20750 contributionsAbsolutely fantastic day in Kyoto with HaruAmazing day with Haru. He met us at the ship in Osaka and took us to Kyoto and returned us safely at the end of the day. He was flexible when some of our group had a hard time keeping up with the schedule that Haru and myself had painstakingly planned weeks before the tour. He changed plans on the day with ease and efficiency to satisfy us all . He imparted wonderful knowledge to us and would highly recommend Haru as a guideWritten 16 September 2024
- shyamals20230 contributionsAmazingWe had an unforgettable full-day private tour with Yuji San in Hiroshima and Miyajima! From the moment we met, Yuji's warm and friendly demeanor set the tone for the day. His kindness and sense of humour made the tour not only informative, but incredibly enjoyable. Yuji took us to all the must-see sights, but what made the day truly special were the hidden gems he introduced us to—places we would have never discovered on our own. He also had a few surprises along the way. His knowledge of Hiroshima’s history, as well as the cultural and spiritual significance of Miyajima, was impressive. He was able to share stories and insights in a way that was easy to understand and engaging. Plus, he always made sure we were comfortable and having a great time. The views were breathtaking, especially at Itsukushima Shrine, but what made the day stand out was Yuji’s personal touch and attention to detail. We felt like we were exploring with a local friend who was passionate about sharing the beauty of his home. I highly recommend this tour with Yuji San—it's an experience you won’t want to miss!Written 16 September 2024

- tomlriley0 contributionsJust what we’d hoped for.We came to Osaka on a cruise ship. Yuka was our guide. She was great at communicating with us before the tour. Yuka was early and patient for us. She is a lifelong resident of Osaka and a a fantastic ambassador for Osaka and Japan. We were taken by subway to Osaka castle where Yuka guided us past the lines and inside. She was very knowledgeable with the history of the area and castle. In to the Dotonbori area. Yuka showed us around like a pro. We told her we were looking for a few different items and she hunted tirelessly for us. Always so happy and helpful. I wish we had more time to do more tours with her. May the force be with you Yuka. 😂Written 15 September 2024

- choctoby0 contributionsGreat Tour with YoshiWe had a great experience with Yoshi as our tour guide during our family trip to Japan. He was very knowledgeable about the local history and culture, providing helpful insights throughout the tour. Traveling with my wife and two teenage children, we appreciated how flexible Yoshi was in adjusting the schedule to suit our interests and pace. He made the experience enjoyable and informative without being overwhelming. We would recommend Yoshi to anyone looking for a reliable and professional guide to enhance their visit to Japan.Written 15 September 2024
- UAL12340 contributionsThe best tour guide.Great walking tour . Miyuki was one of the best guides that we have ever had. Her knowledge of the areas we went to was excellent. The temperature was very hot, and she ensured that we took breaks, and drank water. She also went out of her way to travel on the subway with us back to the station to catch the correct train back to our hotel. By the time we left Miyuki at the train station she had spent an extra two hours with us.Written 15 September 2024

- peterhR7037TA0 contributionsKyoto Private Tour with Kaz was a 100% WinnerKaz was fantastic from beginning to end. He has such a wealth of knowledge and is able to share it well. We had a great day sightseeing and learning about the culture, customs, history, architecture, etc. Along the way, Kaz even suggested a few restaurants based on our preferences and helped to make a reservation for us. We learned so much including how to ride Kyoto buses (a simple thing, but different enough for us to benefit from some guidance). We had a great day together. Thanks Kaz!Written 15 September 2024

- Andy B0 contributionsFantastic tour with a great guideI can't recommend this tour highly enough - we had an absolutely fantastic day. Yoko, our guide, obviously has a real love for her home city and has an encyclopedic knowledge of Hiroshima and the, surrounding areas. The visit to the Peace Gardens and museum were particularly moving and Yuko gave us plenty of time to try to take it all in and was always there to help answer our questions. We asked Yoko to recommend some local food and she booked an excellent restaurant over looking Miyajima - the Okonomiyaki she suggested was the best we had tasted during our stay in Japan. We finished the day on Miyajima with stunning views of the iconic landmarks that are there, Yuko provided great information on the area and was an expert on where to go to get the best pictures. If you do book this tour I hope you're lucky enough to get Yuko as your guide I can guarantee you'll have a great time.Written 15 September 2024
- Fkerns0 contributionsScenery, history, cuisine, conversation and cultureThis is a full day tailored to your interest, time and the weather. Michio filled the day with engaging background of the region and discussion of Japan past and present. He is well travelled and a man of broad knowledge and keen wit. The trip was well structured, leisurely, and we shared a great lunch. At the end of the day I felt I had seen a significant part of Japanese history and had a better understanding of Japanese people.Written 14 September 2024

Our guide, Hiro Chikata, suggested an itinerary beforehand which we liked, also advising us it was subject to change as we might wish. Hiro was very knowledgeable and was able to answer our many questions. He also knew the transportation systems very well so we were able to maximize our coverage and time. After visiting the Tsukiji Outer Market we proceeded to the Imperial Palace where Hiro knew foreign ambassadors would be arriving by horse drawn carriage to present their credentials to the Emperor and we were able to witness the rare event which had only been announced the previous evening due to security protocols. We also went Asakusa to visit the Shrine and take in the view of the area from the top of the Asakusa Tourist Information Center. Hiro then took us to lunch at a wonderful small sushi restuarant after which we proceeded to Shibuya and the Meiji Jingu Shrine. We then walked down Omotesando Street and through a shopping mall there before parting ways. Hiro actually stayed longer than he was scheduled to and made sure we got back on the correct subway line before leaving us. We never would have experienced and learned about what we did had we done it on our own. We highly recommend Hiro if you want an excellent tour of Tokyo

Delighted to learn that you are satisfied with the Tokyo Full-Day Tour of JGA.
You were very lucky to grab an opportunity to see the first horse-drawn credentials dedication ceremony this autumn held in the Imperial Palace.
Since the Sushi Bar we went to has only 8 chairs, I have invited very limited guests only. It has well preserved the Edo nigiri tradition. HIRO

My 17 year old son, in Tokyo for two weeks of language school, joined me for a full day private tour with Eriko. Eriko was prompt, organized, approachable and friendly. We let her pick the itinerary and weren’t disappointed as we went from Buddhist shrine, to anime district, to Shinto shrine to a fabulous lunch in a hip shopping district. Eriko shared history with facts - while checking in to adjust her depth of details to our personal liking. Eriko was also willing to share a bit about her own life in Japan when we asked. This made for more interesting conversation about Japanese culture and history. Thank you Eriko and JGA for making our day tour in Tokyo awesome. I am looking forward to the next guides we plan to meet in Nara and Kyoto.

We booked our private full day tour for 0930 the day after we arrived to get an early overview of Tokyo and, as first timers to Japan, learn how to use the Tokyo subway and see some of the major sights early in our stay.
Andy was a great guide and wonderfully patient as we were pretty tired.
He was in touch as soon as we booked the tour before our arrival and met all our sightseeing requests, provided a detailed itinerary prior, met us at our hotel, took snaps during the tour and forwarded them a few hours later.
He gave us an excellent cultural overview and lots of tips to make our holiday ahead much easier in Japan.
It's a great tour, but if you're just after an early orientation on your first day in Tokyo to learn the ropes, we'd recommend taking the half day tour, or take the full day tour on your second day. But the full day tour was fantastic and we slept very well that night.

Thank you for your wonderful review.
Unfortunately, the weather was not good, and it rained at the last minute, but I'm glad it didn't turn out to be too bad and we were able to enjoy the tour.
Tokyo's subways don't have many escalators or elevators, making changing between subways a chore. sorry.
I agree with your opinion because the tour the day after arriving in Japan is very tiring. I had guests who came to Japan early in the morning and then went on tours, which were very surprising. If you have a chance to come to Japan again, I hope you can enjoy the tour at your leisure two days after your arrival.

We booked the full day tour on the second day in Tokyo to learn and see as much as possible about this fascinating City. Seky our guide met us at our hotel at 9am. Seky was excellent and brought us to many of the sites while explaining their history and cultural significance. The six hour tour was exactly what we’d hoped for and could not recommend this enough especially if you’re lucky enough to have Seky as your guide.

Seizo Kaminto and my husband corresponded in email many months ahead of time, till Seizo came up with a very well-planned itinerary taking trains and subways around Tokyo. We landed early at Haneda, he’s been early as well and introduced himself and gave us an overview of the day’s plans. Plans had to change slightly because our young son got very tired walking and we keep requesting to sip cold drinks in cafes due to the July summer heat. We did not anticipate it would be very, very hot. The trains and subways seem complicated for us to take on our own, we could not have figured out how to get around without his help. He was extremely helpful and he patiently explained to us the train stops and how it connects to the next train line. We were able to see the outside of the Imperial Palace, the historic Asakusa and the entrance to the Meiji Shrine… all while explaining Japan’s wonderful history and even extra (making it more fun and relevant to us!). It was important for us to see the Pokemon Cafe, the Anime District, and the Happy Pancake. Seizo gladly and patiently granted our wish despite, moved from store to store to find the specific toys my son was looking for. He is just excellent! We are very lucky to have Seizo as our guide.

My guide Nobuo Kokure was extremely knowledgeable about all of the locations visited from Imperial Palace to Temples, Shrines, markets and shopping streets. His english was excellent and he had a wonderful and welcoming demeanour. I would thouroughly recommend this tour as it can be adapted to suit your own requirements. I have visited Japan many times before but it was amazing to go to places i hadn’t seen before. I have only ever used the Yamanote line which does a giant loop of the city and had never ventured into the Metro subways but with Nobuo’s help I now feel confident to use the Metro solo. Great tour!!

I’m also happy to hear that you feel confident now to use the METRO(subway)after the tour. May be some day in the near future, we
may be able to meet with each other at the subway ticket counter in Tokyo.
I hope you can continue having a safe and pleasant trip in Japan.

Our tour with Seizo was excellent. He was punctual, efficient, funny, and very knowledgeable. The itinerary was perfectly curated and he was very responsive before the trip to make sure the day went smoothly and aligned with our goals. I highly recommend this tour, and for a family of 4 it was no more expensive than a group tour but much more enjoyable and intimate.

Hakura was simply the best tour guide we have encountered during our two-month Asia visit, which included Việt Nam and Cambodia. She speaks English like an American (she is married to one) and is extremely knowledgeable and well organized. She suggested a great one-day itinerary for us and guided my wife and me (two 70-something Chicagoans) expertly through the mysteries of Tokyo public transit. We loved every minute of her tour, especially a dining experience at a restaurant frequented by locals. We only wish we had scheduled more tour days with Haruka — she’s that good. Hiring Hakura was one of the best decisions of our trip.

We were a family of four adults completing our tour of the region with a two day first time stopover in Tokyo. Booking a private tour with a licensed guide - Andy was the best thing we could have done to get a sense of the beauty and history of Tokyo. Andy had planned out our day to hit the highlights we wanted to see and he added a few of his favourites to our day that really made it very special, the lights on the trees at one of the gardens (sorry, I don't have the name, see picture). I highly recommend a guided tour when visiting Tokyo, and with so much to see, we will do another guided tour next time we are back.

Thank you for your very nice review. Yes, it was the best time to enjoy Autumn Leaves in Tokyo. We enjoyed them at the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Station, and Rikugien Park where we enjoyed the illuminated trees. It was a very warm and wonderful time to spend with your close family. Please come again in early April when the cherry blossom trees are beautiful.

We had an amazing two days with our flexible and knowledgeable guide Kazu Hakata. He had excellent communication before the trip and also organised a tea ceremony for us. He changed the itinerary around the typhoon so that we were indoors during the very rainy parts. Kazu could answer our many questions from life in modern Japan and the many historical aspects to this beautiful city. Highly recommend.

Thank you very much for your kind message.
Even during typhoon day, we could manage to visit many places without disturbed much.
We saw Shinto Marriage Ceremony at Meiji shrine, enjoyed retro area, and very calm
Rikugi en park. We think we were very lucky.
Hope you will return again to Japan and explore new charmes.
Thank you. KAZU

Hi, I would like to do the Full-Day Private Tour. Can I choose Tokyo Disney Sea (4 hrs) and perhaps one or two of the other attractions to make the full day? I am staying near Nakano Station in an apartment so where would I meet my guide? Thank you
Written 1 January 2023
I would do Disney on your own and do other things on the list with the guide. Disney would take up your entire time really. I was with guide 5.5 hours and 1 was spent eating lunch.

I would like to have a 4-6 hr private tour where I 1) get hands-on training on how to use the subway and trains in Tokyo and 2) go to TeamLab Planets exhibition. And maybe see some other things around Tokyo that won’t be included in my booked structured 12 day Japan Tour with Globus. Would this be possible with this tour company? Thank you!
Written 13 November 2022
yes, the subway especially is very confusing. My guide gave me a better understanding and was very helpful. You can buy a rail card and top it up as required, easier to tap on and off with it. In peak hours it is extremely busy and confusing, try to avoid then.
