We had a very unpleasant experience with the staff handling our cabin baggage check. The person in charge was extremely rude and even threatened us by saying that we would be stopped at the final gate for another weight check. My wife and our two-year-old son were traveling together, and according to the airline’s policy, they were allowed a total of 14 kg of cabin baggage (7 kg each). However, this staff member insisted that no single bag could exceed 7 kg, forcing us to repack everything on the spot. We had to redistribute our luggage so that my wife carried exactly 7 kg in a backpack and our son’s small bags also added up to 7 kg, which was extremely stressful.
Most airlines understand the challenges of traveling with a toddler. Typically, families with young children are guided to the front of the check-in line to make the process easier. Additionally, they are often allowed some flexibility with cabin baggage since handling both a child and luggage can be challenging. Unfortunately, Qatar Airways did not show this level of consideration, making our experience unnecessarily difficult and stressful.
