This was the last two legs of our trip with China Southern, Shanghai ( CZ 3538) to Guangzhou to Sydney (CZ 325) and cumulatively it was a better experience all in all. First leg was a Airbus A320 and was fine for a 2hr+ flight. We were delayed by a rain storm but it was a good flight with a service of snack/yoghurt & water, beer still warm! We lucked in Guangzhou Baiyun Airport as we stumbled onto the China Southern Lounge and for $36USD we spent several hours in the first class lounge with food, drinks & showers if needed. Great value and quiet zones to relax in comfy chairs and after a few beers & champers we were very relaxed for the second leg home. Plus the food choice was huge & beats in-flight by a long way! The Sydney leg was an A350 and was packed and we were separated but both had aisle seats so not too bad. Crew on both legs were friendly and despite a bit of turbulence from a storm near Hong Kong we arrived home safe & sound. Note to China Southern get the beer cold & have the messages in English given slower and you have a great airline in my opinion!

Flew from Sydney to Dhaka on 26/9/2024 (CZ326 and CZ391) with connecting of 1.5 hours at Guangzhou, the flight was late one hour from Sydney when I arrived in Guangzhou we were advised the flight to Dhaka has left. We had passenger from Sydney whose mother was in ICU and I was going to see my mother who was getting chemotherapy for cancer. 20+ passengers were stranded in a country where social media does not work including whatsapp, messenger. My mobile phone was not roaming activated (blame goes on me for this). We all were worried as our family knew we got onto our flight from Sydney and they would never knew where we were. At Guangzhou transfer desk they already had our boarding pass printed for next flight after 24 hours. We were asked to queue and submit the old boarding pass which they tear it away and gave us new boarding pass. YES they provided accommodation and food which was not edible. You cannot get drinking water in the hotel unless you buy bottle water. tap water is not safe to drink. At dining room when you ask for drinking water they will provide you warm/hot water in a cup. No one would want to get stuck in a country where no major debit/credit cards works. I had 10 dollars in my pocket which I used to buy essentials. I had 50 British pounds which they wont accept. No sympathy or apologies were shown from the airlines not even an email to us. I reached home 24 hours late, fellow passengers rushing to hospital thinking their loved ones may have passed away. We all try to find cheaper airlines as normal human being, however we never expect this kind of experience where in 4 star hotel no one speaks or understand English. I was wondering if someone has a seminar to attend or a business contract to sign worth millions of dollars there is no mean to claim anything from this irresponsible airlines. I saw at Guangzhou Airport they had flight cancellations desk who arranged accommodation and shuttle service, which means this is a very common issue for them. they showed us which hotel we can go to and then asked us to wait for the driver to pick us up. In the whole process no one understand or speaks English. When we arrived at hotel they also have special desk for China Southern Airlines passenger to check in. I could be wrong but the process shows its very common for them and no one seems to care to fix it. Yes I might have saved few hundreds of dollars but the nightmare I had been through I hope no one faces it.

Travelling with China Southern had been memorable for me because of an airhostess behaviour. I travelled in 2019, when an air hostess laughed at me when I was crying with a lot of pain in my ears which spread through my head too. I have ear barotrauma so it causes lot of pain during flight takeoff and landing. I couldn't even speak so my husband was requesting for water that's when she couldn't hold her laugh. After so many years I still remember that and wanted to let others know, immature people do exist and couldnt hold their professionalism at their work. I am never going to travel with this airline in the future for that dissapointing behaviour shown by the airhostess. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Worst service I have EVER received in my life for such a large and important purchase. They changed my flight leaving me with a THIRTY HOUR stopover in China with no offer of support, accommodation, compensation etc. They find it absolutely impossible to answer all of your questions in one email and will pass you back and forth between colleagues forcing you to repeat details again and again. After offering me flights with either a 21 hour stopover or a 1 hour stopover where I would inevitably miss my connecting flight which I rejected, they then suggested I cut my trip short and offered me a flight 2days too soon! They then finally LOOSELY agreed (with absolutely no details) to cover the cost of overnight accommodation but refused to agree to any form of compensation e.g. to cover food and Chinese visa costs I would now incur by now fault of my own. After all this they then told me they cannot process anything via email anyway so I would need to call. I reminded them for the 3rd time that their phone number doesn't work. 10 more emails and I finally got a local number that also didn't work! Still no resolution and I'm due to fly this month. Absolutely horrific company I hope they go bankrupt and the CEO gets smallpox.

Firstly, my rating is Good, but not VG or average either! TA needs to address the ratings!! Biggest complaint was the inability to procure seats prior to check in? I'm over 190cm and need leg room and was happy to pay for it but couldn't do anything till we got to the airport! The check in chick tried her best but even 3 hours before departure my choices were limited! I check the seating on every flight & try to choose the best but that becomes moot when the airline changes the type of plane! Happily my seat was broken so I was moved up to a bassinette row and had heaps of legroom. Shared with the onboard air marshal who only sat at landing/take off, great seat buddy to have. The flight was an Airbus A300-300 , so it was reasonable room, really friendly staff, good meals but no cold beer, which was a constant over our 4 legs! The main gripe I had was that information during the flight was next to non-existent and when it was offered in English was unintelligible! With some small tweaks they cold be a great airline.
