If you are planning a holiday in Portugal why not consider the variety that Portuguese villas offer as holiday rentals? Self catering accommodation in Portugal is a great option, particularly with the wide range of Portuguese villas available to rent. How about a villa in the Algarve region of Portugal? Or better still, a rental in the heart and soul of Portugal, namely Lisbon. Whichever destination you choose, Portuguese villas and holiday apartments are a great accommodation option, and some can be less than £300 a week.
Portugal is one of the most prominent European holiday destinations in summer with tourists flocking to regions such as the Algarve, Lisbon, and Porto in the North. The Algarve is one of its top holiday spots, offering a good range of Portuguese villas and holiday apartments for rent. Along its glistening sun-baked coast with Mediterranean beaches and world class golf courses, you will find many prestigious holiday resorts such as the San Lorenzo in Almancil and Parque da Floresta in the West. Lisbon is also considered a top destination for golf with many renowned golf courses from Estoril to Sintra and along the Costa Azul. The city of Lisboa is another destination steeped in history with notable landmarks such as the Belem Tower (a UNESCO heritage site) and Vasco De Gama tower.
Renting Portuguese holiday apartments or villas provide a better option for families as they are more spacious and flexible and have a wide variety of amenities available. This reduces the need for families to search for places to dine beyond the villa. Overall, the Algarve in Portugal is a favourite for family holiday makers with its fine coastline, countryside, and some notable water parks such as Aqualand Water Park.
Given the diversity of the Algarve, Lisbon, and areas of Oporto, there is also a great potential for day trips. As mentioned above, the Belem Tower is one recommended place to visit in Lisbon. Other alternatives include Monssarite Palace which is an old and exotic villa located in Sintra. If in Oporto, a trip to the gothic church Igreja de Soa Francisco or Musea de Arte Moderna with its collection of contemporary art, gardens, and fountains is recommended. Alternatively, you could just head for the beach in the Algarve, Lisbon, or the Costa Verde!
