    Holiday Rental House –
    2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4
Le Point is a small house in the unspoilt village of Cucuron which lies inside the Luberon Nature Park in the Provence region of the south of France.

The village has many original medieval features to explore, a typical market (Tues) for local produce, 5 restaurants and local shops. It is often used as a location for filming and featured in the 2005 film 'A Good Year'.

It is located half way between Avignon and Aix en Provence and makes an ideal base for exploring Provence or just to relax and unwind at any time of the year. There is riding or hiking from the village up into the Luberon and scenic lake swimming at the nearby Etang de la Bonde. Bicycles can be rented in the village. In the summer there are numerous festivals and cultural events to enjoy nearby.

    Additional Location Information
Cucuron is a small unspoilt village situated at the foot of the southern slopes of the Luberon range.

It was more important in the 16th century (many houses remain from this period) and, although it was not involved in the Vaudois heresy, it suffered a gradual decline in the religious wars and only recently regained its former population (currently about 1800 people).

It is still almost entirely agricultural, and is surrounded by some fields of wheat and fruit trees, but increasingly with the advent of the appellation for Côtes du Luberon, by vineyards.

There is a good local museum which is worth a visit on the way up to the church (unexpected rare fresco of Roman ship, intriguing old photos of village life). The view from the top of the hill near Le Point is fine, and well seen (briefly!) in the film Horseman on the roof.

A special feature of the village is the old carp pond surrounded by plane trees where the weekly market is held on Tuesdays.

My daughter and I were looking for a quiet village as a base for exploring the Luberon region and Cucuron was a perfect location. We loved the village; it is small enough to be fairly peaceful but still had most of what we needed. Every morning we had coffee by the small pond before starting our travels, excepts market day...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We enjoyed our week in early September in "Le Point". The house was honestly represented by the owner and we found no surprises. Both my wife and I are in our mid-70's and the well documented "stairs to the second level" were a challenge. I believe a sturdy, add-on railing on the open side of the stairs would not detract... more

The cottage was a restful hideaway that made us feel part of the village life rather than tourists. It was very well equipped, private and cosy. The evenings sitting out on the upstairs terrace with the view of the trees were idyllic. All the shops needed were nearby. We found it easier to park in the white parking areas beyond Spar and "The... more
