Our 2 houses, Casa Coco and Coco Cabana, although quite separate from each other and each quite private, are close enough to be combined which makes it ideal for family reunions or groups of friends who want to be together for a vacation of a lifetime. For your entertainment radio/cd/I-pod players, games and some reading material as well as a DVD player and monitor along with a few DVDs. It is conveniently located a 15 min walk from Yelapa just enough to escape the substantial noise of the village life. Casa Coco is equipped with a land line telephone and local phone calls are complementary. Blackberries and other smart phones work from both houses although you probably will not get reception in the village proper. It is the most convenient way to correspond by emails. Towels, bed sheets, soap, shampoo/ conditioner and body lotions will be provided. Light cleaning service is included every other day. As a convenience to our guests, for a reasonable fee, we offer the option to have your fridge stocked upon your arrival. This option is quite popular with our guests. Cooking and transport services are available upon request. We highly recommend Yanet, the house cook, who gets rave reviews for her Mexican cooking. Our caretaker can assist you in planning your activities in Yelapa such as sight-seeing, para gliding, kayaking, sailing, horseback riding, fishing, trekking, swimming, snorkeling.

YES AND NO
Did we have a great time YES Would I go back NO First off, the property is excellent, and as advertised. The pictures on TA do not do the view justice. It is awesome. Property is very well kept up, the gardens are nice. We ate grapefruit in the morning from the tree out back. The caretakers are attentive without being in the way( you know like at some restaurants where wait staff don't even let you eat). They came by once a day, watered plants and asked if we needed anything. The owners send you a little info package before you arrive, which is very nice. One of the options in the info package is you can arrange with Felipie (the caretaker) to be picked up at PVR by boat. Much faster then waiting for the water taxi. Price quoted in the info was $130 one way. What they neglected to add is that you have to pay another $50 to the marina where they pick you up. Here are my reservations; This is not a property where you'd take small children. There are a number of places where it's not safe around the property for children. One of the bedrooms has a small patio and there is no railing around it. It's a good 10-15 foot drop. This is not a property for old or out of shape people. The path from town to the house is, shall we say challenging. I'm 65 years old. In the past 5 years I've hikes the Apalachian trail in Smoky Mountains National park, hike the Superior Hiking Trail in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, and did a rim to rim at the Grand Canyon. I personally I would not hike this trail after dark. My 30 year old daughter, who just got back from a 10-day trek in Nepal had no problems. Second, twice we had to walk through the surf to get to town since the waves were washing up over the path. If you timed your sprint you could get through between waves. Once you stumble over the rocks, tree roots, and waves on the path you come to the property. But you're not done yet. Now you need to climb 101 stairs (yes, we counted) to get to the house. And these are not nice even, uniform stairs. You need hiking sticks! When we arrived and left, one person came to help with luggage, but he was not going to take luggage for 3 people. Fortunately we pack light and had only backpacks. This is a wonderful property and we had a great time, but will not book again. Just be aware you have to pay a price for that great view.

Heaven is a place on earth
To those who dare to say it is anything less than perfection are lying to themselves and to others. Casa Coco is located in an unbeatable location with stunning views of the sea, close to some of the popular restaurants in the Yelapa and small beaches. House is spotlessly clean and well stocked with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. The accommodation is a fantastic private setup, perfect for a family/friends with the best views of Yelapa and far from the noisy part of town. A small grocery store is close by which was very convenient. I definitely recommend this accommodation and feel so grateful for having an excellent hosts (Felipe and Yanet) who helped us out so generously to make our stay enjoyable. Their hospitality went above and beyond what we expected. Yanet is an amazing cook and made us the most delicious ceviche and fish soup (feel free to ask for it). Don’t hesitate to book this property, it will exceed your expectations!

Amazing & absolutely unique!
We went to Yelapa for the first time in April 2018. We wanted a lazy beach vacation, but with a twist. Yelapa was great. Easy to get to (fun boat trip), but still a small town. No cars! Great food! Friendliest people! And Casa Coco - amazing! Better than we could have imagined. Our boat dropped us off on a tiny sandy beach where we met Yanette & walked to the house along a narrow cobble stone path @ the edge of the sea. There are lots of steps to the house - but at the top, the view is outstanding & the house is wonderful. Hardly any walls - so you are open to the sea breeze, sunshine & jungle sounds - but private. The kitchen is great. (We like to cook.) The beds are comfortable. Everything is spotless. Lots of hot water. The loft bedroom & lounge is huge - and straight of Robinson Crusoe. Felipe & Felipe Sr. took great care of us - as did the owner. The photos don't lie - this is a gem!

wonderful stay
just got back from a 1 week stay at casa coco in yelapa mexico.this was our 2nd stay in yelapa.we love it there.casa coco is a beautiful house located on a hill side about 15 min walk from the main village.it is beautifully land scaped and has amazing views of the bay that yelapa is located on.there are 2 single beds up stairs and 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms down stairs.it suited us perfectly as there were 2 teenage girls with us,so the had upstairs for their own.a large open kitchen, dining area was great for our evenings, making dinner with music and wine.be aware that there is a lot of stairs coming up to the casa,so if you have mobility issues,it may not be for you.the care takers Filipe and Yanet are wonderful friendly people who are available for various things.Yanet made us a very nice meal on our 1st night.I believe it was about 300pesos plus the cost of the food.Filipe has his own boat,so is available for excursions or fishing.we hired him for pickup at pvr when we arrived and had him take us back when we left.there are water taxis, but with all of our luggage,it was just eazier to hire Filipe.we also hired him for fishing and caught 3 fish.(we ate 2 and gave Filipe the big one).he charged $70 us per hour for fishing and $130 us 1 way for going to or from pvr.there are several resturants in yelapa.we had lunch at the beach resturants most days which were good.we ate out 2 nights at taco y mas and pollo bollo.both were good, but pollo bollo was the best.awsome food and each large meal averaged only about $10 can.(we are canadians).booking was very easy and Richard (the owner)is very helpbul.thank you Richard.there are also a few grocery stores in the village.we stopped at walmart bought a couple of cheap coolers and filled them with too much stuff.we got a bit carried away.as i said the village is approx 15 min walk and then the main beach is another 15 min,so about 1/2 hr walk to beach.we went nearly every day and didn"t mind the walk.check out web sites for yelapa.probably lots of things you'll find that I have forgotten

Minnesotan
We just spent 10 wonderful days at Casa Coco. After arriving to this magical place in the jungle overlooking the Pacific, we came to also love the little town of Yelapa. Happy children, quite a few gringos that have been going for 20-40+ years. Richard was wonderful in taking our reservation and Felipe and Yanet, the caretakers were very sweet. The night we arrived was my son's 19th birthday, and Yanet prepared a birthday dinner including a Mexican chocolate cake. The refrigerator was stalked as we took advantage of having Yanet and Felipe offer to have some basics there. So much to do. Waterfall hikes, fishing, take a water taxi to one of the close-by villages, wonderful food, friendly locals. This is a rare opportunity. If you have trouble with steps, plan on taking your time and enjoy a slow walk on the path to town. Its about 90 steps to the Casa from the path below. Enjoy!

Wonderful house with excellent view
Casa Coco is a wonderful house to stay in. It was well stocked with everything needed to cook with. There are plenty of lounge chairs if you just want to hangout and enjoy the view (which is exquisite) . As everyone else said, its a bit of a climb to get up there. We loved it but it was hard on one of our friends to climb up and down, sometimes twice in a day….Our favorite things to do were to hike up to the upper waterfall, exploring the river along the way and snorkeling by the rocks near the house (hey it was pretty good snorkeling for the Pacific),…. The host , Richard is very kind and the caretaker Felipe is great.

Paradise Found
Casa Coco was a great getaway for my husband and I, and my sister and brother-in-law. The house is spacious and could easily accommodate multiple families with ease, although as others have mentioned, it would be difficult with young children. And I unfortunately wouldn't recommend it for anyone who has mobility issues (such as older parents) due to the stair climb to the house up from the path. That said, it was perfect for us! The view is to die for, the surrounding gardens lovely and well tended, the house very comfortable and well appointed, and it is quite private. The owners have put a lot of thought into making this a great rental. There are chairs and tables in all the right places and everything you could want in the kitchen. If you were stocked with food and water, there would be no need to go to town during your entire stay. (However, Yelapa is a great place to visit, so I can't imagine not making daily forays into the village.) What we liked best? The jungle birds and butterflies, the view, the helpfulness of Felipe (the home's caretaker), his wife Yanet's cooking, Yelapa itself, our boat ride out to Las Marietas, the restaurants in town, and the general laid back and welcoming atmosphere of this beautiful spot! Least? Not much. The town really needs to turn the light off on the beach at night! (Not much of a problem from Casa Coco, but it is truly dreadful. I don't know what they are thinking!) Bugs weren't really a problem, but do take bug spray and use it. My brother-in-law didn't like the distance from town at first, but my husband and I appreciated the location immensely. The beds could be a little more comfortable, but I am known as a princess-in-a-pea, so it could just be me. And the wi-fi was down when we were there and cell service definitely spotty. Just turn off the electronics, you're on vacation! My husband and I definitely plan to return again!

Best getaway from NYC to recharge our batteries and eliminate stress.
our second visit to Coco Cabana, and Yelapa, was even better than our first. everything about our first visit & review were the same, but since we had been there last year we "knew our way around" the house, town of Yelapa, and explored further afield from our little area than before. i had a minor ear problem and had to go to the local clinic. surprisingly, the doctor was excellent, and spoke english quite well. he accurately diagonized my ear infection, and although the clinic did not have meds, and there was no pharmacy in town, we easily took a water taxi to the nearby town of Boca, and from there walked a few minutes to the local bus into Puerto Vallarta, where we found a terrific pharmacy steps from getting off the bus. it was much more professional than i would have imagined and they had the two meds i needed, for a ridiculously low price. and i thought i would be "ripped off"...but i had quite the opposite experience. we met many local people, both expats and locals, and had a great time. the only problem was that the week went by to quickly ! my girlfriend and i hope to go back every year, and highly recommend this to couples, two or three couples, or a family, although very young children should be watched carefull.

far from the maddening crowd
Up on the hill overlooking the bay, Casa Coco greeted me with her warm and Joyful colors It was a joy for the senses and for the soul. Felipe and Yanet, the household staff, helped us with the heavy weights, and we found new energy in Casa Coco's peaceful surroundings. Although we went in March, the dry season, there were many flowers to brighten the garden surrounding the house. A great stay with trips on the boat to the Botanical Garden and the Nature Reserve Islands.

luxury in paradise
a week at coco cabana (and casa coco) was like spending a month at home the large and beautifully furnished and appointed house, up on a hill, overlooking the harbor was peaceful and quite. the most noise was birds gently waking us up in the morning nights were beautiful and you could see so many stars (we are from nyc) there are no roads or cars in yelapa, and all of the walking around got me in better shape than we started) so did the swimming everyday at the nearby beach, and the yoga lessons in town on a balcony overlooking the water) back to the house! coco cabana was like living outside the weather was perfect and the huge terrace just outside the house invited us to be there to read, relax, look at the scenery and snooze the house is surrounded by endless plants, flowers, trees, including a banana tree over the path, with bananas hanging up (bananas grow up!). too bad they were not ripe yet :( we can't say enough about how terrific the house, town, and local people were although we have traveled around the world (my girlfriend is from milan italy) and i was a peace corps volunteer in west africa in the 60's, we had never been to mexico i have to say that i was pleasantly surprised at how friendly the mexicans were, how beautiful the country is in this area, and how safe we felt we never locked up the house, and usually forgot to lock up our valuables in the safe provided i think i've covered it all we look forward to going back there again, probably time with another couple, or some family we would have to rate coco cabana a 6 star rental larry
