Buffalo is home to a thriving performing arts scene. For starters, the
Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Buffalo Chamber Music Society both perform at the impressive
Kleinhans Music Hall on Symphony Circle. This venue is internationally acclaimed for its acoustic and architectural perfection. Or, patrons can see Broadway musicals at Shea’s Performing Arts Center. Built in 1926, this European-style opera house downtown also hosts touring shows, concerts, opera, and dance performances. The nationally recognized Studio Arena on Main Street puts on six productions each season, including comedies, dramas and mysteries.
The Irish Classical Theatre Company produces great works of comedic and dramatic literature, and the Ujima Theatre offers plays by African-Americans and people of color. See new works by up-and-coming playwrights at the
Alleyway Theatre, or an assorted variety of musicals, comedies, and dramas at the cozy Kavinoky Theatre on the Campus of D’Youville College. Traveling with the kids? Treat them to the Theatre of Youth, in the restored Allendale Theatre.
