Although Cannon Beach can be visited throughout the year without encountering overly extreme temperatures, certain months of the year are much more pleasant than others.

The weather in Cannon beach is changeable, so regardless of the information about yearly averages that follows, visitors should be prepared for the unexpected. Dressing in layers means that you will always be ready for anything!

The warmest months of the year are July, August, and September, during which time the daily high temperatures will hover from the mid 60's to the lower 70’s. Temperatures on the beach itself are always lower than in the middle of town.  Temperatures do reach the lower 80’s, but this is generally as hot as it will get.  Nighttime temperatures during these months will drop to the mid 50’s on average.  The coolest months of the year are December, January, and February, during which time the daily highs will generally reach the low to mid 50’s, and the nighttime temperatures will dip to the mid 30’s.  Freezing temperatures during the winter months do occur on occasion nearly every winter. There is a brief snowfall about every other year, but usually only an inch or so.

Cannon Beach is a wet community, as it frequently rains during every month of the year, totalling about 75" in a calendar year.  The wettest months on average are November and December, during which time nearly twelve inches of rain will fall in each month.  Winter also brings storms that come slashing in off the ocean, and winds up to 80 MPH are not uncommon from time to time over the winter.

Summer often starts July 5th along the northern Oregon coast, as June may be still quite rainy. The driest months of the year are July and August  which are perfect for heading to the beach.
