Travelers who head to Fatima usually know what they are going to do and see during their stay there.  This is especially true for travelers who are heading to the area in hopes of experience one of the Virgin Mary sightings for which the area is known.  However, travelers may find that there is more to a Fatima trip than what they had originally anticipated.  There are numerous things to do and see in the area, and even those travelers who are interested only in the Virgin Mary sightings may find that there is a lot of information about the history of those sightings which they did not know about before heading there.

For this reason, it is strongly suggested that Fatima travelers stop at the local tourist information office in order to get the most up-to-date and comprehensive travel information that exists for the area.  The visitor’s center is open every day of the year except for major international or national holidays.  It is conveniently located on Avenida Dom Jose Alves Correia da Silva (a street name which is far harder to remember or pronounce than it is to find!)  The office opens at ten each morning and closes at seven each night.  It closes from one to three each day for a traditional siesta time.
